  1. Songstress Amanda Carr interviews Candy O about lullabies, power ballads & Reba McEntire

    Show notes

In episode 3 of Songs & Stories, singer extraordinaire Amanda Carr www.amandacarr.com joins Candy O'Terry as the cameras continue to roll in her living room, preserving in-depth conversations and memorable stories. As the two longtime friends settle in for a chat, they discuss the art of using your voice to sing different kinds of songs, including the James Taylor lullaby "You Can Close Your Eyes" their collaboration on the Bette Midler classic, The Rose and the song Candy channeled during her breast cancer treatments called JESUS. Written by Lou Reed and originally performed by Velvet Underground, Candy heard a version of the song recorded by Glen Campell, and Amanda agreed to add her personal touch to the track. Working alongside Candy's producer, Crit Harmon, the song took on a new shape, thanks to what Amanda calls "harmonic spiritual texture." The story behind Candy's next release is a collaboration that might surprise her fans as Boston rocker Bill Bracken adds leather to Candy's lace on the Nashville Cast track A Life That's Good. An accomplished musician, recording artist and live performer who has toured worldwide, Amanda shares the heartbreaking story of her fiance's death in the tragic airplane crash 35 years ago that killed Reba McEntire's band. A deep friendship is on display in this episode. Just pull up a chair and settle in.

  2. Settling in with rockstar Charlie Farren

    Show notes

Rockstar Charlie Farren www.charliefarren.com settles into Candy's living room to talk about his career with The Joe Perry Project and Farrenheit, his decision to leave the rockstar life behind and shift into "Dad mode", his 20+ year rise to Global Alliance Manager at Hewlett-Packard, and his star-studded solo career as "America's Special Guest" for legendary rock bands including REO Speedwagon, Three Dog Night, Cheap Trick, John Fogerty and ZZ Top.

Reminiscing about their 2009 duet "You Are The Only One" Candy and Charlie talk about reuniting on a new version of Dan Fogelberg's "Longer."

Perhaps the most poignant part of this interview happens toward the end when Candy shares something her father told her: "You know, Candace, they are not going to write she was a great radio girl on your grave." It's at that point that Candy asks Charlie if he has any regrets about his own career decisions.

Says Charlie "I wouldn't change a thing. My wife and I have 3 kids, 7 grandchildren and a puppy. Life is good."
