  2. One Goal at El Paso. Three Points. Home Playoffs!

    Season 1, Episode 282

    Show notes

In this episode of State of the Republic, we talk about Sacramento Republic FC’s massive 1–0 win over first-place El Paso Locomotive FC, sealed by a late goal in the final minutes of the match! This huge road victory means Republic will host its first USL Championship playoff game at home on Sunday, November 1!

We also preview Sacramento’s final regular-season matchup against Oakland Roots and review the latest USL Championship standings. We look at the potential playoff opponents Republic could face and discuss what results would need to happen for Sacramento to finish in first place.

Plus, Sharon shares her experience selecting her seats for the new Sacramento Republic FC stadium!

Also, one of our listeners, William, shared his thoughts on our upcoming opponent, Oakland Roots:

"All right, so hello State of the Republic podcast crew. So this is William speaking, coming from Sacramento, California, after dining with the Diplo's fun run right here in San Francisco. It is a great win for Sacramento Republic FC, takes a single goal win for Jose Memo Rodriguez, thanks to the assist from Mark Anthony Kaye. Now the big question is, I know they're going to have a last long game to face against Oakland Roots. So I know it's Oakland played pretty big miles since I was there in Oakland, California at Oakland Coliseum to face against San Antonio FC, but it did have a bounce back very well when they got a win against FC Tulsa not too long ago. So it's going to be very competitive right here for Sacramento Republic FC. So only time will tell, so looking forward to this Saturday, see ya."

    Thanks for your comments William!
