Zack’s history working with a high level drag racing team has provided him with a unique approach to building an autocross car.

I'm back after a short break and have Tyler Wyatt, a newly dedicated racer who owns two S197 Mustangs. He races one in CAM and the other is a Club Spec Mustang. We discuss how he got into autocross and the events he's competed in during his short racing tenure.

Derek Stewart has owned his 1968 Dodge Dart since he was 14 years old. Before he could get it back on the road safely, he had to replace a ton of rusty sheet metal and reverse years of mechanical neglect. Derek eventually got the car on the autocross course and was hooked. 15 years later, the car has several custom designed suspension pieces and over 500WHP which was good enough to get a 2nd place in the vintage class at Autocross Week 2026.

Autocross Week 2026 starts later this week. I decided to sit down with my crew chief for the week, Mrs. Turn Fast, to talk about the week. To my surprise she flipped the script and hit me with some very good questions.

Tom and Debbie Farrington have traveled the country racing their Chevelle’s for over a decade in various series such as Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car, Good Guys Autocross, and UMI events. Tom’s 66 Chevelle started out as the typical pro touring appearance without the performance to back it up. It’s had a tremendous transformation over the years and now features a complete Ride Tech chassis, big LS HP, Bowler T-56 transmission and Forgeline wheels. While Debbie’s wagon runs a full compliment of UMI suspension components, LS power, and T56 transmission.

What started as a father/son restoration project after high school, Kyle Guillot’s 1969 eventually turned into a LS powered, Ride Tech equipped corner carver. Kyle is just over 2 years into auto crossing his Nova and has battled with the typical growing pains that go along with racing vintage iron. What started out as a would-be parts car in 2019, John Barnes and his brother William started building a 1969 Mustang coupe into a monster of a CAM-T car. After beating the snot out of the 289 for years, John decided it was time to go all in with a Coyote swap coupled to a BMW DCT to push the Meier front suspension and Cobra IRS to the limits.

You aren’t likely to find Greg Huizenga’s Jeep Cherokee typical Jeep things. Instead, you will find it ripping around cones on an autocross, or blasting down the dragstrip printing sub 10 second time slips courtesy of the compound turbo Gen 3 Hemi under the hood. This isn’t a race Jeep, he’s racked up tens of thousands of street miles along the way.

In this episode, I’m joined by Jamie Elliot who started his racing journey early in life on motorcycles and eventually turned to autocross. At LS Fest East 2025, Nick accomplished something no one has ever done in the Grand Champion Competition, he managed to run a 9 second drag pass in autocross trim.
