Talkin' Slayer: A Metal Podcast and Half-@ssed Audiobook
Talkin' Slayer tells the story of Slayer, the thrashiest of the Big Four thrash metal bands. After some introduction episodes, this weekly show recaps the history of the Los Angeles heavy metal institution, in chronological order: how the band happened, when things fell apart, how they put them back together, and what it all meant—no, MEANS. After Episode 9, Patreon supporters receive every weekly episode.
Talkin' Slayer is written, deeply researched, lightly edited, and mostly rehearsed, with some production value. Episodes start after :60-:90 of intro; no need to skip the first 20 minutes.

Linkisode: Full Video of Slayer's Most Destructive, Out-of-Control Concert Ever... #162.6 Bonus
Season 4
Show notes
Hey, all. This is another Linkisode... which is to say it's not a real episode.
The true content is in the following link, which is a full video of Slayer's most destructive, insane, infamous, legendary concert ever. Mass psychosis? Total bedlam. It's from the South of Heaven tour, in New York City, summer 1988:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00bYK3fzY3o&t=64s
Last week, Patreon supporters got a full episode about this show, featuring testimony from eye witnesses, plus other facts and myths about the landmark concert. It was the band's last appearance in NYC for some time. And no wonder, considering the big bill for the damages. It's one of the more popular chapters.
To hear it and more, you can sign up ap for under $1 an episode at Patreon.com/SlayerBook.
Your next real episode will arrive eeearly Monday morning. It's Seasons in the Abyss, part 1. When Slayer reunited, they played more of this record than any other. The Patreon Slaytreon Team have it already,.
Until then, FEAST YR EYES.
See you then. Gratitude!

Show notes
This is episode #157 of 55. We are deep in overtime. STILL.
This is your pal Ferris.
Today’s topic is the ongoing affair of attrition that wasthe Reign in Blood tour. This week: Dave Lombardo is out, and T.J. Scaglione is in. Spoiler: It doesn’t last long.
Last week, in the shownotes, Patreon supporters got a link to all four Slayer drummers over the years, playing the “Angel of Death” double bass drum break. And they got another chapter about Reign & blood & the road.
This is week 7 or 8 covering Reign in Blood, depending on how you want to count my report from the concert this month, wherein the band played the entire album. There’s one more week to go. That’s for the Patreon/Slaytreon heads only, too.
DEEZ [SHOW]NOTES:
Slayer live in Cleveland, 1987. The video lists a differentdate, but the ad for the show says it was 3 February 1987. Unclear whether this unusual set list is the full set or just what was caught on video.

Linkisode... Reign in Blood: A Musical Analysis [Season 4, Episode 28 (#158)] Bonus
Season 4, Episode 28
Show notes
Hey there, true believers & Slaytanic pals.
This is not a proper episode. This is another linkisode.
Tomorrow — Monday — you'll get another full-on episode about Reign in Blood. But for today...
Today's topic -- AGAIN -- is more REIGN IN BLOOD.
Today's content is not in the audio portion. It's in the link below.
Stefan Ekström breaks down Reign in Blood... and plays it too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_8YOysNB5I&t=1s
I am not a musician. If anything is lacking in my extensive coverage of Reign in Blood, it's technical musical analysis. THIS guy -- Sweden's Stefan Ekström -- breaks it down in great detail in this YouTube video.
He makes a couple incorrect suppositions about the band & their history & how they did a couple things in the studio. But, hey, nobody bats 1.000. He's still worth listening to. And he has my book now... so his extensive knowledge bank has been updated.
This is episode #158 of 55 Talkin' Slayer. We're running over a little bit. Free listeners miss more than half the content. To learn more about getting every single episode, including the bonus stuff, visit here. Packages start under $1 per episode.

HEY PALS.
Here's a little taste of something I'm doing now, exclusively for Patreon supporters... mostly.
Long story short, it's a new type of mini-episode I'm experimenting with. I'm calling 'em Linkisodes. Until I think of something better.
The true content here isn't what you can listen to. It's what you can click below.
Here's the deal:
1) Linkisodes are normally for Patreon supporters & friends of the program only.
2) They're a way to deliver some of the cool stuff I post on the Patreon page — except this way, you don't even have to visit the Patreon page and see what I posted. You can just click the link in the shownotes. Like THIS:

Season 4, Episode 5
Show notes
Today's topic is the International Day of Slayer... which is today if you're listening in a timely manner.
For the first time, Slayer Day founder Jeff Tandy reveals the myths, facts, and misdirections behind the scenes of your favorite hesher holiday. You pal Ferris interviews Tandy in this co-production between the International Day of Slayer and your favorite metal show, Talkin' Slayer. Ferris covers it in the book... and now he's covering it MORE.
Our new bud Jeff is also the host of underground metal podcast Metalenema. And after a lifetime of shredderation & destructionality, he now plays in Imprecation, a Satanic death metal band from Texas.
Then the Slaytanic history resumes next week.

Season 4, (Mini) Episode 7: About That Killer New Old Slayer Footage That's Bustin' Out Everywhere Online, Plus a Link to It... Bonus
Season 4, Episode 7
Show notes
This is not an episode. Not a proper episode. But...
Today’s topic is some absolutely killer, very old Slayer footage that is bustin’ out all over the internet. This is probably the best Slayer video I have ever seen. And I’ve seen most of it.
It's live footage. It's a long, long interview. It’s live from the Slaytanic inner sanctum. It’s ALL. It’s everything. And it’s from a truly historical junction for the band: in that zero-gravity moment between when Reign in Blood was finished and released.
Click the link below to watch Markit Aneight's breathtaking act of Indiana Jones-level Slaytanic archeology. The YouTube music content foundry unearthed an hourlong 1986 episode of the TV show Heavy Metal Mania.
You want to see where Slayer and Reign in Blood came from? Block out an hour. And click right here.

And/or listen to this little mini-episode to hear me explain why it's such a big deal.
Tune back in Saturday, 6/6/26, for a very special look at the most hesher holiday, The International Day of Slayer. This is a whole new kind of episode. Different how? Tune in and find out. Tell a friend.
F'n Slayer, friends.
