  4. 21 Things I’m Confessing as a Type C Mom 🫢

    Show notes

What if being a good mom didn’t mean giving 100% to everything?

In this episode of The Ashley Surratt Show, Ashley is sharing her 21 very specific, slightly embarrassing, and incredibly relatable confessions of a Type C mom. From reusing her kids’ socks and skipping weekly date nights to letting TV be part of the daily routine and throwing away birthday party favors, Ashley is getting honest about the things moms don’t always feel comfortable saying out loud.

But underneath the hilarious confessions is a much bigger conversation about motherhood, capacity, and the guilt we carry when we feel like we’re not doing enough. Ashley opens up about the pressure to keep a clean and organized home, the overstimulation that comes with parenting, and the reality of choosing where to spend your energy when you simply can’t do it all.

This episode is your reminder that you can care deeply about being a good mom without giving everything your all, all the time. Being a Type C mom on purpose means deciding what matters most to you, showing up intentionally in those areas, and giving yourself permission to let the rest go.

Get ready to laugh, feel seen, and maybe confess a few things of your own. Because chances are, you're not the only mom doing things a little differently—and the guilt? It's optional.

If one of Ashley’s confessions makes you think, “THANK GOD, ME TOO,” send this episode to a mom friend who needs that same reminder 💖

  5. How to Create a Peacefully Productive Life with Jess Massey

    Show notes

What if doing less doesn’t mean you’re caring less?

In this episode, Ashleigh sits down with Jess Massey, founder of Hustle Sanely, to talk about something so many of us can relate to: being a recovering overachiever. Because workaholism doesn’t always look like sitting at a desk for 12 hours. Sometimes it looks like never being able to sit down because there’s always another load of laundry, meal to prep, or thing you could be doing to make your home and family just a little bit better.

Jess shares what it looks like to hold onto your ambition and desire for excellence without sacrificing your mental health or the relationships that matter most. Together, they unpack the identity piece behind doing less, how to figure out what deserves your time and energy in each season, and why you can’t do everything well all at once.

Plus, Jess shares her simple “Hustle Sanely Five” — five daily habits designed to help you live more peacefully and productively, without letting your to-do list run your life.

If you’re a mom who is always doing the most, this conversation might be the permission slip you didn’t know you needed: doing less doesn’t mean caring less. It might actually give you the capacity to care more.

    Show notes

A very unfiltered Saturday vlog pod about what happens when your home starts feeling less like a place to live and more like one giant visual to-do list. Come along as I drive around, grocery shop, make bacon, think out loud about getting out of the house, chat about mom friends who parent differently than I do, and share a few things making life easier lately.

Basically, a little voice memo from my Saturday—with some motherhood thoughts, errands, and perspective sprinkled in along the way. 🩵

  7. Parenting Hot Takes + Having Hobbies as a Mom

    Show notes

Parenting hot takes + having hobbies as a mom? Yep, we’re doing both.

In this episode, I’m answering your questions about unpopular parenting beliefs, including why I think learning the easy way is still learning, why rehearsals, jingles, play, and stories can be some of the best tools in your parenting toolbox, and why there’s probably no single “right” parenting style for every mom and every kid.

We’ll also talk about one of the parenting reminders I’m constantly coming back to: you are accountable for you. Even when your kids are melting down, talking back, or making choices you don’t love, you’re still responsible for how you respond.

Then we’re switching gears and talking about something that deserves way more attention in motherhood: having hobbies. How do you find something fun when you barely have any free time? How do you actually make yourself show up? And why does external accountability make such a huge difference?

From acting and improv classes to pottery, crafts, pickleball, and everything in between, we’re taking the pressure off finding your “one true passion” and talking about a much more realistic way to bring fun back into your life.

Basically: parenting doesn’t have to be harder than it needs to be—and neither does being a mom.

  8. Your Phone Might Be Affecting More Than Your Screen Time with Ben Krechevsky

    Show notes

What if your relationship with your phone isn’t just about screen time?

In this episode, Ashleigh sits down with Ben Krechevsky of Purpose Over Pixels to unpack the deeper ways our phones can shape our identity, self-trust, self-respect, relationships, and ability to be present for the lives we actually want to live.

They talk about why repeatedly telling yourself “I’m going to get off my phone” and then not following through can quietly reinforce the belief that you don’t keep your word to yourself—and how that can spill into other areas of your life.

They also get into the pressure to always be reachable, why willpower alone isn’t enough, what our phones might actually be helping us escape, and why moms in particular can find themselves reaching for their phones when they’re lonely, overwhelmed, bored, exhausted, or simply overstimulated.

And in one of my favorite moments, Ben leads Ashleigh through a simple breathing exercise that makes her realize just how rarely she actually slows down.

This conversation is about so much more than putting your phone down.

  11. 6 Shifts I’m Making to Enjoy Motherhood More This Summer

    Show notes

Summer can feel like this weird mix of pressure and possibility.

You want it to be fun. You want it to be sweet. You want to make memories with your kids…but you’re also managing a million moving pieces, and sometimes it just feels like a lot.

In this episode, I’m sharing the 6 shifts I’m making to enjoy motherhood more this summer—not by adding more to my plate, but by changing the way I’m approaching my days.

    This is about:

    • Figuring out what’s actually making you say no
    • Reducing overstimulation and mental load
    • Creating simple systems that support your real life
    • And building a summer that feels good for you, too

Because being a “fun mom” isn’t about doing the most—it’s about being present enough to experience the life you’re already living.

I don’t just want my kids to have a fun summer, I want to be in it with them !!

  16. Postpartum Felt Different Than I Expected—Here’s What Helped with Brooke Orloff

    Show notes

I went into postpartum thinking it was mostly physical recovery and hormones…and then I got in it and realized it’s so much more than that.

In this episode, I’m sharing some of the things I really wish I would’ve known going into postpartum—the parts that feel confusing, emotional, and honestly… a little disorienting, but that no one really says out loud.

Then I’m joined by Brooke, co-founder of the postpartum wellness app Mone, which she built alongside an integrative OB/GYN and a registered dietitian and women’s health nurse to better support moms through recovery, mental health, nutrition, and the emotional transition into motherhood.

    Show notes

If you’ve ever avoided opening your bank app because you just don’t want to know… this episode is for you.

Today I’m joined by Mattie Gardner, who is sharing her real-life journey of paying off $63,000 in credit card debt—and not from the other side, but right in the middle of it.

We talk about the part no one really talks about: the avoidance, the shame, the fear of even looking at the numbers… and what it actually looks like to take your power back.

This isn’t a “perfect budget” conversation. It’s a real one.

    We get into:

    • What to do if you’ve been avoiding your finances
    • The first step to facing credit card debt (without spiraling)
    • How to navigate money in marriage—even when you disagree
    • Why knowing your numbers is more empowering than scary
    • Simple, doable habits that actually help you start paying off debt

Ever feel like you’re behind… but you can’t even explain why?

In this L-List episode, I’m sharing what I’ve been learning lately about the invisible “competitions” we accidentally enter—motherhood, texting people back, keeping up with life—and how opting out might be the most freeing thing you can do.

    We’re also talking about:
    – why the things you didn’t get done might actually be the key to better sleep
    – how “I should” quietly creates unnecessary pressure
    – a simple way to feel better when you’re in a funk (without changing your whole life)
    – and a few real-life little wins and lingering thoughts from lately

If you’ve been feeling behind, overwhelmed, or like you’re dropping the ball… this one will feel like a deep exhale.

  19. Why Decluttering Sprees Don’t Work (and What to Do Instead) with Liz LaVoie

    Show notes

What if decluttering isn’t really about the stuff?

In today’s episode, Ashleigh sits down with Christian decluttering coach Liz LaVoie to talk about why decluttering “resets” rarely last and what actually helps. They discuss the connection between clutter and discontentment, how to simplify your home in a season with little kids, and one freeing idea that comes up in the conversation: making decisions based on your actual capacity instead of guilt or pressure.

Liz helps women—especially moms who feel lonely, exhausted, anxious, or stuck—live more joyfully and peacefully by decluttering their homes and hearts.

  20. Ep 20: The Science Backed Reason You’re Touched Out + What to do Next

    Show notes

If you’ve ever felt like you love your kids so much… but your body is also like, “please stop touching me for one minute,” you’re not alone — and you’re not doing motherhood wrong.

In this episode, we’re nerding out on the science-backed reason you feel “touched out” and what’s actually happening in your brain and nervous system when touch shifts from comforting to overwhelming. We’ll talk “sensory gating” (our new vocab word!!!), why constant or unavoidable touch can activate stress, and the big missing piece most people don’t mention: it’s not just inputs (touch/noise/chaos) — it’s outputs too (decision-making, regulation, emotional load, managing the environment).

Then we’ll get practical: what you can actually do to support your nervous system without “mothering less”.

If this episode made you feel seen, text it to a mom friend who’s been feeling overstimulated lately — not as advice, just a little “hey, I thought of you.” And if the show has encouraged you, leaving a quick review helps more moms find these conversations.
