  1. 2026 Asian Games Specials: Coleman Wong & Xiyu Wang Singles Gold, Taiwanese WD Family Feud & More

    Show notes

Last weekend, the (lawn) tennis finals brought an entire possible drama in itself for the Asian Games as the first of the four regional games (that include tennis as one of the competitive disciplines), which stakes a direct qualification to the LA Olympics 2028.

By the way, I've been covering the Challenger Tour and other lower-tier circuits as a fan, so if you enjoy the podcast or the overall work, I have a support link. No pressure at all, but it would help support this project.

  2. 2026 ITA All-Americans Specials: Pascual Ferra, Finally; Carpico/Filin Too Strong & More

    Show notes

The other week, I turned out to have the chance to track and watch the 2026 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) All-American Championships, one of the pathways for college players to qualify for the individual NCAA tournament this fall. What struck me when I observed the men's side, some of which were Challenger-caliber classics or meetings? I did track some parts of the women's side as well, but how did the tournament go? Follow through this mini-episode as the college pathways continued through the regional championships, some of which take place starting this week.

    Show notes

Among this year's regional games, the South American Games' winners would qualify for next year's Pan-American Games, whose winners will head to the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics as direct entrants. How did this year's South American Games reveal for tennis in general, on par with this week's Asian Games regarding the broadcast, and what do these people's journeys reveal beyond the actual Games themselves, especially for the emerging talents of the region?

    Show notes

Beyond New York (the US Open), 21 Challenger-level events in the ATP alone took place from the week before Fan Week (including qualifying rounds) to the second round of the Open. A lot has happened since then, from Jan Kumstat's third consecutive Challenger title and the gay final in the Tulln Challenger to Facundo Diaz Acosta trying to break Tallon Griekspoor's records, plus other first-time title winners at this level, and more. Dive deep into this mega-episode on what happened at this level, singles and doubles alike, plus key updates, including the upcoming NextGen Finals at the end of the year and other possible trajectories to follow.

    Show notes

Who thought that the Challenger-level tournaments for the past fortnight looked slow? It wasn't a slow week, after all, judging by some milestones: 3 first-time Challenger-level titles in two weeks (Tom Gentzsch, Gabriele Piraino, and Hayato Matsuoka), plus some possible breakthroughs alongside Lloyd Harris' comeback! If you feel like missing what happened in those weeks, follow along through this episode as we relive that fortnight.

    Show notes

It might have taken them a long wait for either breaking through or coming back; but, getting there for last week's winners, for example, JJ Wolf in Vancouver, Facundo Diaz Acosta in San Marino (marking his Top 100 return in around 2 years!), and Gabriel Debru in Samsun. How about the college takeover, which turned out to happen in 3 out of that week's 5 Challenger events' singles semifinals? Look back at last week's journey through this episode.

  7. Comebacks, Firsts & Farewells: Alex Michelsen Returns with A Title, Diego Dedura-Palomero Makes History, Marc-Andrea Huesler Bows Out & More

    Show notes

As the main Tour approached the end of the miscellaneous season and began the North American swing, the Challenger Tour turned out to forge 3 different stories into the average week: how did Diego Dedura-Palomero create history for his birth year in Tampere? How about the ending of Marc-Andrea Huesler's last dance in Zug? How was Alex Michelsen's return after his injury the past fortnight, especially in that week's Bloomfield Hills Challenger? Relive the moments from that week through this episode to accompany you before the other finals, perhaps.

  15. 2026 Roland Garros Men's Qualifying Brainstorm: Full Bracket Thoughts & Storylines

    Show notes

In contrast to a traditional preview, I tried to verbalize my thought process behind my Roland Garros men's qualifying brackets, something I've been doing since I came across 2 qualifier prediction tweets for every Grand Slam 4 years ago. Since I couldn't come up with 16 names without imagining, I imagined various scenarios (and storylines), considering various factors. Again, I'm neither a player nor a coach, but I'd like to share my observations, what I thought were possible storylines, and the way I saw the entire draw; thus, I'd rather call this episode a brainstorm.

  16. Absolute Bangers: Juan Manuel Cerundolo's Bordeaux Epic, Djere's Return, Choinski Nears T100 & More

    Show notes

In the second week of Rome (1000), 7 ATP Challenger tournaments filled the "void" (of the 2-week Masters 1000), 2 of them were the 175s. How epic were the Bordeaux and Valencia Challengers this year, and how classic was Juan Manuel Cerundolo's final against Raphael Collignon at the former? How about how close Jan Choinski was to the Top 100 debut, thanks to his Zagreb Challenger title, and the return of Laslo Djere in the Oeiras 4 Challenger? Dive deep into the journeys of the week through this episode: it was an absolute banger of a week.

By the way, I've been covering the Challenger Tour and other lower-tier circuits as a fan, so if you enjoy the podcast or the overall work, I have a support link. No pressure at all, but it would help support this project.

  17. They Might Be Back: S. Kwon & F. Diaz Acosta's Titles, Hemery Ends the Wait, Youngsters Rising & More

    Show notes

Despite looking like a slow week minus the cancelled Prague Challenger, it turned out to be another week of milestones: both Soonwoo Kwon and Facundo Diaz Acosta joined Pavel Kotov in the list of players winning 3 Challenger titles this year after winning the Wuxi and Francavilla al Mare Challengers, respectively. How about Calvin Hemery, whose 3-hour final was worth the wait for his long-awaited second career Challenger title? How did Franco Roncadelli's maiden Challenger singles title mean, as well as the youngsters competing at both Tour and Challenger-level tournaments last week? Follow this episode to check on their journeys from that week.

Small correction: Brandon Perez/Franco Ribero won the Brazzaville Ch doubles title against Michael Geerts/Skander Mansouri 6-3, 6-4. Their maiden Ch title together (first in any sector). I have mistaken one of the semis as the finals instead, apologies.

Relive the previous "slow but steady" week as Hugo Dellien clinched his 15th career Challenger title back home in Santa Cruz (Bolivia), as well as the way Roman Safiullin and Leandro Riedi, who went back on track from their injuries, winning their titles in Oeiras 3 (125) and Busan, respectively! Not to mention tracking the journeys of the youngsters like Moise Kouame and Jack Kennedy, who started making waves in their own ways the past week!
