Host DJ Dusty shares recovered holotapes following Nate Campbell's desperate search for his son in a post-nuclear Commonwealth. You might think you know this story... but you don't.
My name is Garrick Cline and I'm the creator of this podcast. I don't have a crew. I don't have a budget. I'm just a longtime Fallout fan using AI-assisted voice generation and original writing to bring the wasteland to life the best I can. I am not a professional sound engineer... I'm just a 54 year old veteran trying

EP33: Mister | The Dusty Signal - A Fallout 4 Fan Fiction Audio Drama Podcast
Season 1, Episode 33
Show notes
“Time’s the one thing we can’t get back.”
A Fallout 4 Fan Fiction Audio Drama
Episode Name: Mister
December 1st, 2287 - Log 033
Day Forty - Unknown Time
Nate tried to give his recorder a name. It almost worked. Then it very much didn’t.
Between a mayor who fried himself in a bathtub with the people’s money, a Deathclaw in a bunker gym, and a plan Nick described only with a sigh — it was a full day in the wasteland.
He ended the tape quietly. Three words.
“I miss her.”

Day Thirty Nine - Unknown Time
Day thirty-nine. Three days since the last tape. Nate finally got real sleep — a full day of it — and woke up thinking clearly for the first time in weeks.
What he’d missed while running on fumes: the Institute gets in everywhere the same way. He knew that. He just couldn’t see it.
What he saw in Natick stayed with him longer. A Brotherhood knight down in the street. His own people stepping over the body and walking north.
Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. He’s moving again.

Thirty-two days out of the vault. Nate talked to Piper. Made things right with Nick. Cleared out his old VFW hall.

The one that told the truth about war, even when they wanted something else.

Thirty days out of the vault. No mission report. No inventory. No tactical breakdown.
Just a man who spent three days walking in circles, finally landing somewhere.
Nora's gone. That's not changing. And this world doesn't wait around for you to finish grieving before it asks you to keep living.
Tomorrow he's going to Diamond City. He's going to find Piper. And he's going to tell her how he feels.
Both things can be true at the same time.

He spent the rest of the day running himself into the ground so he didn't have to feel anything else. Raiders. Gunners. A Behemoth in the dark.
He ran out of rounds before he ran out of reasons to keep fighting.
Now he's in a rooftop shack in a rad storm. Alone. Trying to figure out what he owes and to whom.

A Fallout 4 Fan Fiction Audio Drama
Episode Name: Release
November 16th, 2287 - Log 023
Day Twenty five - Early Morning
Twenty-five days out of the vault. Nate finally paid his debt to Piper Wright.
He told her everything. Nora. Shaun. Kellogg. The vault. All of it — start to finish — to another person for the first time.
She didn't write a word of it down. Just listened. Her hand on his without him noticing.
Between accepting a title he didn't ask for, a midnight raid on Monsignor Plaza, and two more Brotherhood patrols found dead — it was a very long day.
But something moved. Just a little.

Day Twenty Three - Evening
Nate owed Piper a story. She told hers first.
One Deathclaw taken down at range. One ghoul that almost ended everything in an armory that had no business still being locked. One bed at the end of the night that neither of them talked about.
Piper Wright saved Nate Campbell's life twice in two days. And somewhere between the gratitude and the rings against his chest — he just listened.
He still owes her that story. It's waiting its turn.

November 12, 2287 - Log 020
Day Twenty One - Late Evening
Twenty one days out of the vault. The Institute is watching. The Glowing Sea is waiting. And Nate Campbell needed somewhere to put his hands for a few hours.
So he went looking for baseball relics.
Between a flooded town full of mirelurks, a conversation with Piper that went longer than it should have, and three synths hunting him on the road back — nothing in this Commonwealth stays simple for long.
But for a few hours, he had a mission with an ending. That had to be enough.

Nineteen days out of the vault. Raiders cleared. Supplies traded. Network growing.

The Glowing Sea is getting closer. But first, he needed that reminder.

This is the episode where the hunting begins — thirty hours on the move through the Commonwealth, following Conrad Kellogg's scent from Diamond City to the gates of Fort Hagan.
But somewhere on those railroad tracks, with the target finally close enough to smell, twelve days of grief got loud enough to drown out the training.
He made it to Fort Hagan. He found Kellogg. He just can't finish the story tonight.
