  1. Is Ryan Warsofsky on the Hot Seat? Sharks Locker Room Trouble?

    Season 9, Episode 302

    Show notes

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky called out the San Jose Sharks for a lack of buy-in after a rough week. With general manager Mike Grier recently extending Warsofsky and the team sitting at 7-7-1, is his seat already getting warm?

Paul, Aaron, and special guest Alan Hoshida break down the locker room atmosphere, the recap of the game against the Calgary Flames, a chaotic 1-2-0 week, the fourth-line liability, and the NHL Hometown Remix jerseys in Episode 302 of The Fin Factor!

    In this episode:

    * Head Coach on the Hot Seat? Dissecting Warsofsky's blunt comments on player effort, buy-in, and his recent extension from Mike Grier.

    * Sharks vs. Sabres (2-0 L): Yaroslav Askarov shines (38/39 saves, .974 SV%), but 21 giveaways sink San Jose.

    * Sharks vs. Canucks (3-2 W): A wild 3rd-period comeback (3 goals in 2:50, including 2 in 11 seconds), Will Smith’s 2-goal night, Marchment's winner, and Filip Bystedt's impressive NHL debut.

    * Sharks vs. Senators (5-1 L): Michael Misa scores, but 4 unanswered Ottawa goals, D-zone faceoff woes (20%), and a shorthanded dagger seal the loss.

    * The Fourth Line Problem: Why the Goodrow–Dellandrea–Ostapchuk line got caved in (1 attempt for, 17 against).

    * NHL Hometown Remix Jerseys: Honest reactions to the Sharks' new sweater drop.

    * Full October Review: Evaluating the 7-7-1 record. Is it time to panic, or right on track?

Drop a comment: Is Ryan Warsofsky losing the room, or is this just standard rebuilding adversity?

  2. Sharks Win in Regulation, Injuries, Edvinsson Trade?

    Season 9, Episode 301

    Show notes

Join Paul and Aaron for Episode 301 of The Fin Factor as we talk about whether the San Jose Sharks should trade for Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson. The 6'6" Swedish left-shot defenseman is an unsigned RFA who has to sign by December 1, and the Sharks are reportedly one of the teams in talks. What would Detroit want, what would Mike Grier offer, and would Edvinsson be the Sharks' best left-shot defenseman? We also recap the Sharks' road trip: Macklin Celebrini's OT winner capping a comeback in Montreal, Yaroslav Askarov stealing the first regulation win of the season in Ottawa, and a 3-2 third-period lead disappearing in Boston. Plus the road trip WAR breakdown, who's trending up and down, the Alex Wennberg and Igor Chernyshov injuries, Ivar Stenberg in the Calder race, and this week's games against Buffalo, Vancouver and Ottawa.

    Season 9, Episode 300

    Show notes

Join Paul and Aaron for Episode 300 of The Fin Factor as we talk about the San Jose Sharks' search for their first regulation win of the 2026-27 season. The Sharks outplayed Boston at 5-on-5 and lost 6-3, then blew third-period leads in Nashville and Detroit before tonight's game in Toronto. We break down the new forward lines with Chernyshov-Celebrini-Smith and Marchment-Wennberg-Toffoli, who's getting sheltered zone starts (Michael Misa and Luca Cagnoni), Yaroslav Askarov vs. Alex Nedeljkovic in net, Ivar Stenberg's first NHL goal, and postgame reaction from Ryan Warsofsky. 4. 3 Wins ALL in Overtime: Are the Sharks Lucky or Legit?

    Season 9, Episode 299

    Show notes

Join Paul and Aaron for Episode 299 of The Fin Factor as we talk about the San Jose Sharks' 3-2 overtime win in St. Louis, where Darnell Nurse scored his first goal as a Shark on a beautiful pass from 19-year-old Ivar Stenberg. Tyler Toffoli and Collin Graf also scored, Kiefer Sherwood made a game-saving block in the final minute, and Alex Nedeljkovic held the fort through a tough first period. We break down Ryan Warsofsky's postgame comments on Will Smith playing center without Macklin Celebrini, Sam Dickinson's bounce-back game, and the power play shakeup.

Plus, Celebrini scores against the Edmonton Oilers, and we dig into the analytics in our Good, the Bad, and the Ugly segment. The Sharks are 3-2 with all three wins coming in overtime, but they rank last in the NHL in expected goals share and high-danger chances. We look at Yaroslav Askarov on the penalty kill, the fastest and slowest skaters on the roster, the defense pairs, and which forward lines are actually driving play.

We also preview a busy week ahead: Frozen Frenzy against the Boston Bruins on national TV, then road games at Nashville, Detroit, and Toronto.

  5. Sharks Win 2 in OT! Celebrini, Smith & Dallas Reaction

    Season 9, Episode 298

    Show notes

Join Paul and Aaron for Episode 298 of The Fin Factor as we talk about the San Jose Sharks opening the season with back-to-back overtime wins over the Florida Panthers and LA Kings, plus our reaction to tonight's game against the Dallas Stars. Macklin Celebrini has 5 assists through two games, Will Smith and Igor Chernyshov are finding the back of the net, and the power play is rolling.

We dig into the analytics with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: why the floodgates are about to open for Celebrini and Smith, a dominant top power play unit, and Darnell Nurse and Michael Kesselring looking like a legit top pair. On the other side: Dmitry Orlov and Luca Cagnoni getting caved at 5v5, a leaky penalty kill, and why the Chernyshov, Michael Misa and Tyler Toffoli line is due for regression. We also check in on the Calder Trophy race, break down how the new look blue line and breakouts differ from last season, and compare the top two picks from the 2026 NHL Draft, Gavin McKenna and Ivar Stenberg.

    Show notes

Join Paul and Aaron for Episode 290 of The Fin Factor as we welcome a very special guest to the studio: JD Young, host of Locked on Sharks and creator of The Reef.

Now that the San Jose Sharks have officially locked down the second overall pick in back-to-back draft lotteries, the big question is: what should Mike Grier do with it? We sit down with JD to analyze the top options on the board, debating whether the Sharks should pick dynamic Swedish forward Ivar Stenberg, stand pat on a game-changing defenseman like Chase Reed, or test the market for a block-buster trade down the line. JD breaks down his film study on Chase Reed, mapping out a potential Norris-caliber ceiling and explaining why finding a top-pairing blue-liner is significantly harder than plugging a winger into your top six.

We also take a look at the landscape of the upcoming offseason, analyzing trade targets like Bowen Byram, Jordan Spence, and Michael Kesselring alongside the high-risk reality of checking out Darren Radish in free agency. Plus, we look ahead to the future contract extension for El Capitan himself, Macklin Celebrini, tracking his unbelievable world stage performance at the Olympics and debating if a massive contract extension is right around the corner.

  14. San Jose Sharks Offseason: Overhauling the Defense

    Season 9, Episode 289

    Show notes

Join Paul and Aaron for Episode 289 of The Fin Factor as we lay out the ultimate offseason blueprint for the San Jose Sharks defensive core. Mike Grier has made his criteria clear: he is hunting for defensemen who can defend the rush, retrieve pucks, and execute a clean first pass out of the zone. We take your fan-submitted trade proposals and free-agent targets to find out exactly who fits that mold.

In this episode, we break down the analytics on a long list of potential blue line targets, including Simon Nemec, Dougie Hamilton, Bowen Byram, Braden Schneider, Rasmus Andersson, and Darren Raddysh. We also debate how drafting Ivar Stenberg at number two would impact the current logjam of established forwards, and if it opens the door to using William Eklund as a major trade chip. Finally, Aaron reveals his two ideal offseason scenarios for the defensive pairings, weaponizing our cap space and the Oilers' 20th overall pick to build a well-rounded roster.
