E407 - Maker's Mark Cellar Aged (2026)
Show notes
This years version of Maker's Cellar is the 4th release in the series. We've reviewed this bottle annually and we liked the first two releases. But how does this new one stack up? Well, first of all, it has the highest proportion of 14 year old bourbon of any of the releases. Does that translate into the palate? guess you'll have to listen to find out.

E406 - Marquee Small Batch Bourbon
Show notes
Marquee Exclusive Small Batch Bourbon is an innovative release by New Era Distillery based in Lexington, Kentucky. It breaks away from traditional distillery practices by relying on a rotating panel of "tastemakers" to create blends. Back in episode 278, we had Zane Brammell (owner and founder) on to talk about all things NEWS. Zane is back for this episode to tell us all about how Marquee came to be. Marquee Bourbon is blended by the community for the community. The very first batch of Marquee just released. It is limited and only available in Kentucky. However, it was created and blended by 9 "tastemakers" which consisted of bartenders, enthusiasts, spirits writers, and others including our own Kenny Mills. These folks engaged in a friendly whiskey blending competition and it resulted in the first batch of Marquee which is 94 proof and retails for $49.99. So join us this week for this spirited episode as we catch up with Zane, taste some good bourbon, and talk about what's next for NEWS and Marquee.

E404 - Bourbon Brokering with Chevalier Casks
Show notes
Chevalier Casks is a brokered marketplace and timed sales platform for whiskey barrels, cooperage, distillery equipment, and related inventory. They help connect buyers and sellers in the whiskey market and simplify complex transactions. In this episode, we discuss bulk whiskey sales and barrel brokering with the leaders of Chevalier: Coby Adkins, Ben Franzini, and Sam Rock. Collectively, these guys have many years of experience in spirits finance, distilling, operations, and hospitality. While you may not be familiar with Chevalier, they are responsible for some of the absolute best whiskey that we've had in our glasses over the past few years. This conversation covers everything from the current and future state of the whiskey market to all the things that Chevalier does to serve distilleries, brand owners, bottlers, and industry partners. So if you've ever wondered what a barrel broker does, this episode is for you. In addition to the fascinating conversation, we also share and discuss some amazing pours (as usual).

E400 - Maker's Mark Export from 1981
Show notes
This week's short involves a bottle of Maker's Mark that was bottled in 1981. This is the same year that Steven and Anthony were born. While we couldn't organize an all-star lineup for our monumental 400th episode, we did think it would be appropriate to crack a bottle that is a little harder to find. If you were to visit a store in 1981 buy this bottle of bourbon, it would have cost you $10. Even though that doesn't seem like a lot -- it was quite expensive then and people noticed. So, how does this bottle taste roughly 45 years after it was bottled? You'll have to give us a listen to find out. We want to thank you all for your continued support of the podcast. Cheers!

Show notes
The whole crew is back together and today we are talking about EverNorth. For those that couldn't make it to the Kentucky Bourbon Festival (KBF), Dan and Sean and the rest of the crew at EverNorth Spirits released a near hazmat bourbon known as "BDH." This bottle is a limited, single-barrel short-barrel bourbon release distilled at Green River with a 78/13/9 corn/rye/malted barley mash bill, bottled at cask strength 68% ABV. They chose to release this bottle due to it's exceptional profile and bold flavors. What do we think? Give us a listen to find out.

E396 - Redwood Empire The Hyperion Batch 001
Show notes
In this episode, we taste, review, and discuss a brand new limited offering from Redwood Empire. Named after the world's tallest coastal redwood tree (The Hyperion), this inaugural expression is a blend of 32% bourbon, 30% rye, 25% wheat whiskey, and 9% American single malt. Coming it at 110 proof, we're not sure if we've ever tasted a whiskey that contains distillate from four different states: Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and California. This special limited blend is the first of it's kind of a planned annual (non repeating) release. But, how does it taste? Spoiler alert, the guys are split on this one, leading to some lively discussion for a short.

E394 - Knob Creek 12 Year Cask Strength (2026)
Show notes
The very first time we saw Knob Creek 12 Year Cask Strength bourbon appear was back in 2020. Hitting retail shelves for about $90 a bottle, the whiskey disappeared pretty quickly and secondary prices went up. Now, in 2026, the good folks at Jim Beam are back at it. In this episode, we taste and review the brand new batch of Knob Creek 12 at cask strength. As you know, we can be pretty tough on some beam products. However, our verdict on this one may surprise you. Do you like Knob Creek and other Beam products? Let us know if you do and thanks for listening.

E389 - Jack Daniel’s High Angel’s Share Tennessee Whiskey
Show notes
In this episode, we taste and review the brand new Jack Daniel’s High Angel's Share Tennessee Whiskey.
The new limited release is comprised of traditional Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey laid down in 2016. The whiskey rested atop Coy Hill on the top floor of Barrelhouse 1-13 for a high angel’s share maturation. As the barrels rested in the highest reaches of the barrelhouse, an increased amount of whiskey was lost, presenting a very unique whiskey.
But how does it taste? We'll give you our perspective and we hope you have a chance to try it. Cheers! 🥃
