The Mission Trip Murders
Horror movies. Holy Scripture. Plenty to talk about.
Join Bill and Dan for The Mission Trip Murders, where each episode pairs a horror film with a biblical passage for a conversation full of laughs, honest questions, and unexpected connections. We dig into what makes the movies work, explore the Bible with help from scholarship, and see what happens when the two share a campsite.
Bring your faith, your doubts, and your questionable taste in movies. We’re aiming for fun, informative, and fair—with room to disagree and enjoy the company.
Faith meets fear.

In the Beginning… a Death Curse | Friday the 13th & Genesis 1
Episode 1
Show notes
Welcome to The Mission Trip Murders. Bill and Dan start at the beginning—with Friday the 13th (1980) and Genesis 1:1–2:4. Horror-film discussion meets biblical scholarship, with one practical agreement: when a kooky prophet warns you about a death curse, you listen. Even if he shows up drunk in your cupboard.
We don’t mess with death curses.
Spoilers for Friday the 13th (1980).
