Robots That Learn Jobs by Watching You
Show notes
Standard Bots CEO Evan Beard explains why industrial robots are finally starting to move beyond brittle point-by-point programming. Instead of teaching a robot one exact path, teams can increasingly describe a task, demonstrate it through teleoperation or guided motion, and let the system learn how to handle variation in the real world.
The conversation covers natural-language robot programming, learning by demonstration, ugly factory edge cases, the reliability bar for production, and why the most important robotics progress may look less like a humanoid stunt and more like a machine that can handle a shifted part without calling an engineer.

Can Living Neurons Make AI 5x Faster?
Season 1, Episode 79
Show notes
Neurosurgeon-scientists Alex Ksendzovsky and Jon Pomeraniec explain how The Biological Computing Company uses living neurons as a research platform for AI. Their team grows roughly 150,000 cells on a 4,096-electrode array, sends in patterns such as handwritten digits, records how the neurons respond, and models useful computational behaviors in software. They say those neuron-inspired techniques are already helping GPU-based video-generation systems run about 5x faster with roughly 80% lower inference cost, while their longer-term work explores robots, world models, and real-time biological compute.

What If Apps Didn’t Need Code?
Season 1, Episode 78
Show notes
Runway co-founder Anastasis Germanidis explains Solaris, an “interface world model” that generates software frame by frame instead of rendering a traditional interface from HTML and CSS.
The model reacts directly to clicks, drags, and keyboard input, while language models or agents can still handle logic and tool calls behind the scenes. BONUS: GPT-6 Sol vs Claude Opus 5.5 LIVE: Which AI Model Is Better? Bonus
Show notes
GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, AND Claude Opus 5.5 all just dropped. So which model should you actually use?
Join Grant Harvey and Corey Noles from The Neuron LIVE today as we put the newest models from OpenAI and Anthropic head-to-head.
OpenAI says GPT-6 Sol makes roughly half as many mistakes as GPT-5.6 Sol, bringing Astra-level reliability to a much cheaper model, while GPT-6 Luna is designed for fast, high-volume work like summarization, extraction, and quick questions. OpenAI is also dramatically cutting prices, with Sol reportedly coming in at $2 / $10 per million input / output tokens and Luna at just $0.10 / $0.50.
Meanwhile, Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5.5 just 90 minutes earlier. Anthropic says it performs around Claude Fable 5.1 level on most work while costing roughly 40% less to run than Opus 5, generating output more than 30% faster, and communicating more clearly. Its API price is $4 / $20 per million input / output tokens.
And the benchmark fight is already spicy: Anthropic reports Opus 5.5 scoring 66.4% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, 54.4% on FrontierCode, and 1,846 Elo on GDPval-AA v2.1, with particularly strong results in coding, computer use, and professional knowledge work.

How Hume AI Is Teaching Voice Systems to Understand More Than Words
Season 1, Episode 76
Show notes
AI voices can already sound startlingly human. The harder problem is whether they actually understand how humans speak.
Andrew Ettinger, CEO of Hume AI, joins Corey Noles and Grant Harvey to explain why voice AI still has a “listening problem.” A transcript can capture the words someone says while stripping away tone, hesitation, frustration, background noise, dialect, speaker identity, and the other signals that shape what those words actually mean.
The conversation explores how Hume evaluates voice systems against real-world conditions, why emotion is better understood as a high-dimensional spectrum than a handful of neat labels, what breaks during long-running voice interactions, how speech-to-speech systems and AI voice agents could become a primary interface for computing, and what new safety and personalization challenges appear when AI starts talking back.
If you want to understand what has to improve before voice AI feels truly natural—not just realistic—this episode is a practical look at the infrastructure, evaluation, and human feedback behind the next generation of spoken AI.

Inside CoreWeave’s AI Infrastructure With Chen Goldberg
Season 1, Episode 75
Show notes
AI infrastructure used to be the part developers were supposed to forget about. What happens when the infrastructure itself starts determining what AI can do
Corey Noles sits down with Chen Goldberg, Executive Vice President, Product & Engineering at CoreWeave, to unpack the systems underneath the next wave of AI. Using CoreWeave’s newly announced multi-rack NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 deployment as a jumping-off point, Chen explains why modern AI infrastructure is no longer just a question of how many GPUs you can get. Compute, networking, storage, cooling, observability, security, and orchestration all have to behave like one enormous machine.
The conversation moves from long-running AI agents and latency to Kubernetes, security guardrails, physical AI, energy constraints, and the changing role of software engineers. Chen also explains why CoreWeave sees AI as a transformational rather than incremental shift — and why making this infrastructure accessible matters if the benefits are going to reach more than a small group of companies and researchers.

OpenAI Astra, Local AI, and the Hardware Race
Season 1, Episode 73
Show notes
What happens when AI models get powerful enough that the bottleneck stops being the model, and starts becoming the computer, the power grid, or the safeguards around it?
Corey Noles and Grant Harvey break down a packed week in AI, starting with OpenAI’s expected Astra model and the controversy around recurrent-depth reasoning, chain-of-thought monitoring, and critical cybersecurity capabilities. They also dig into Google’s Gemini 3.8 Flash and Flash Cyber, and why benchmark charts increasingly matter less than what a model can actually do in real work.

BONUS: Claude Fable 5.1 LIVE: Testing Anthropic’s New AI Agent
Show notes
Anthropic just released Claude Fable 5.1, its newest frontier model for long-running coding, research, and agentic work.
So naturally, we’re putting it to the test LIVE. 🤖
Early testing suggests Fable 5.1 is faster, easier to work with, and capable of handling massive coding projects, long-form writing, and autonomous agent tasks more efficiently. Every even found that it used less than half as many tokens as Opus 5 in one internal test.
But it has some quirks too. It can blow past word counts, create unnecessary subagents, and occasionally keep working when you tell it to stop.
Today, Grant and Corey from The Neuron are testing those claims for themselves.
We’re putting Fable 5.1 through:
🧠 Complex research and knowledge work
💻 Coding and long-running agent workflows
✍️ Writing, editing, and instruction following
🤖 Autonomous tasks where Claude runs on its own
🛑 Constraint, budget, and STOP tests
🆚 Whatever else the live chat wants us to try
Anthropic also cut cached-input pricing by 75%, potentially making long-running Claude agents significantly cheaper to operate.
Can Fable 5.1 actually become the model you hand a giant task and walk away from?
Let’s find out live.

Where Does AI Agent Security Actually Live?
Season 1, Episode 72
Show notes
AI companies spend enormous effort making models safer, but the model tested in the lab isn't necessarily the system a company eventually deploys.
Alice CEO and co-founder Noam Schwartz joins Corey and Grant to explain why prompts, tools, memory, permissions, data, and agent-to-agent interactions create an entirely new security surface.
They dig into the growing “trust gap” around enterprise AI, why prompt injection may become a permanent cat-and-mouse game, what open-weight models change for defenders, and why Schwartz believes the real security boundary has to exist at every layer of an AI system.
The bigger takeaway: as AI moves from answering questions to taking actions, traditional cybersecurity may need to merge with fraud prevention, threat intelligence, and trust and safety.

BONUS: AI Tool Roundup: What’s Actually Worth Trying?
Show notes
AI tools are shipping faster than most normal humans can figure out what half of them actually do.
So Thursday, August 20 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, we’re going LIVE to translate this week’s biggest AI launches into plain English. 😸
The goal: understand what these tools actually are, who they’re for, what’s useful vs. hype, and which ones are worth trying.
No three developers yelling model benchmarks at each other for an hour. Instead, we’re covering:
🤖 Qwen 3.8: What a powerful open model is, why you might use one instead of ChatGPT or Claude, and when that makes sense.
💻 Unsloth Studio: Run and experiment with AI models on your own computer, even if you’ve never touched a terminal.
⌨️ Cursor Origin: Cursor wants to host your code too. Here’s what that could mean for people building websites, apps, and internal tools with AI.
🛠️ DeepSeek Harness: What an “agent harness” is, why everyone keeps talking about them, and whether they matter outside hardcore coding circles.
💬 Buzz: Imagine Slack or Discord, except AI agents can join the workspace, collaborate with humans, and do work.
🐦 Berd: One desktop home for your AI agents, projects, skills, tools, and models. You can also give your agents little animated bodies. Please emotionally prepare yourself.
Plus, we’ll cover the other notable models and tools that dropped this week.
And if OpenAI drops Astra before we go live? We’ll cover that too. If it’s incredible, great. If it belongs in the “cool, another model” bucket, that’s part of the roundup too.
