Liverpool vs Arsenal preview: Arsenal haven't won away at Liverpool in the league since 2012. Predicted XI, the Max Dowman ban and Arsenal's winger crisis. šŸ”“ With Dowman suspended and Saka injured, who actually starts on the wing at Anfield? Is Madueke fit? 3. 3 Things We Learned From Arsenal's Shock Loss To Fleetwood

    Episode 187

    Show notes

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

The dust has settled on our EFL Cup penalty shootout exit to Fleetwood Town, and while there is no need for a massive overreaction, there are some glaring takeaways we cannot ignore. On this episode of The Real Arsenal Deal, we step back from the raw emotion of the cup upset and break down the three biggest lessons as we head into the next phase of the season.

1ļøāƒ£ How you lose matters: Going out with a team of academy youth playing good football is one thing, but losing in this fashion, with so many senior players drastically dropping their standards, is exactly why the fallout is so loud. 2ļøāƒ£ January reinforcements are non-negotiable: It is glaringly obvious that our attack needs strengthening. We need at least one, possibly two, new forwards in January to sustain a push in the second half of the season. 3ļøāƒ£ Arteta's reaction to Dowman: The red card was incredibly harsh, but Mikel Arteta's strong sideline reaction to Max Dowman as he walked off was unnecessary. That kind of dressing down for a young player is much better served behind closed doors.

šŸ‘‡ Have your say: Which of these three takeaways do you agree with the most, and who should we target in January? Let me know below!

  4. Fleetwood Stun Arsenal! EFL Cup Exit On Penalties & Harsh Dowman Red Card 🚨

    Episode 186

    Show notes

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

That is a bitterly disappointing night under the lights, but in truth, we were absolutely dire and simply didn't deserve to win anyway. You can never take anything for granted in cup football, and Fleetwood Town made us pay the ultimate price. While the shockingly harsh red card for Max Dowman completely shifted the momentum and forced us to play with ten men, the performance leading up to it severely lacked quality. We ultimately crashed out on penalties in a frustrating fashion.

Mikel Arteta rotated the squad, but the drop in intensity was glaring. However, there is a major silver lining: with the massive fixture congestion we face across the Premier League and Champions League this season, dropping out of the Carabao Cup early might not actually be the worst thing for the squad's fitness.

In this post-match reaction episode, we break down:

    • A dire overall performance where we simply didn't deserve to advance
    • The shockingly harsh red card for Max Dowman and his costly suspension
    • The penalty shootout heartbreak and failure to find a winner in normal time
    • Why this early EFL Cup exit could be a blessing in disguise for our congested schedule

šŸ‘‡ Have your say in the comments: Were we just too poor tonight, or is exiting the Carabao Cup early actually a good thing for our season? Drop your match reactions below!

  5. Arsenal 2-0 Everton: Job Done As Konsa & Gabriel Goals Secure The 3 Points! (Re-Upload Due To Tech Issues)

    Episode 185

    Show notes

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

***Re-Uploaded Due To Tech Issues, My Apologies!***

A commanding 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates, driven entirely by our dominant center-back pairing. Ezri Konsa opened his Arsenal account early, scrambling home from a corner in the seventh minute, before Gabriel Magalhães marked his 200th Premier League appearance with a massive second-half header to seal all three points.

It was a performance of total control, with Arsenal dominating 58% of the possession and registering 18 shots to Everton's 8. Ultimately, it was our massive threat from set-pieces and defensive solidity that got the job done. Crucially, this 2-0 win keeps our massive momentum rolling at the top of the Premier League table.

In this post-match reaction episode, we break down:

    • Ezri Konsa's first Arsenal goal and his colossal defensive shift
    • Gabriel's milestone 200th appearance capped with a crucial 68th-minute header
    • Total dominance of possession (58%) to secure another massive clean sheet
    • Keeping the momentum going with a professional job done in the title race

  6. Arsenal 2-2 Bayern: Rice's World-Class Goal & Huge Saka Injury!

    Episode 184

    Show notes

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

What an absolute heavyweight clash. It was a breathless night of Champions League football that ultimately ended in a completely fair 2-2 draw, but it is a result that comes at a massive cost for Mikel Arteta's side.

We break down a fantastic game of football that featured two brilliant Arsenal goals, capped off by a genuinely world-class late equaliser from Declan Rice. The patience in the build-up, the pinpoint passing sequence, and the devastating finish proved exactly why we brought him to the club for these massive European nights.

However, the mood is heavily overshadowed by the devastating sight of Bukayo Saka going off injured. We discuss exactly what happened, the potential severity of the blow, and how Arsenal copes if our starboy is sidelined for a crucial stretch of the season.

šŸ‘‡ Have your say in the comments: Does that world-class strike from Declan Rice soften the blow, or are you massively concerned about the Saka injury? Drop your match reactions and player ratings below!

    Show notes

That is what title races are built on. It wasn't pretty, it was incredibly tense, and Nottingham Forest made us fight for every single blade of grass at the City Ground. But when the pressure was on, Mikel Arteta’s side dug deep and ground out a massive 1-0 win on the road.

Noni Madueke broke the deadlock late on, and while the winner came via a massive slice of luck with a fortunate deflection, you create your own luck in this league. Beyond the goal, the defensive resilience was elite—battling through the 90 minutes to lock down a crucial clean sheet and secure three massive Premier League points.

In this post-match reaction episode, we break down:

    • Noni Madueke’s late deflected winner and the sheer relief in the away end
    • A resolute defensive display to earn another vital clean sheet away from home
    • How the team managed to get over the line despite a scrappy performance
    • Why grinding out ugly, fortunate 1-0 away wins is the exact hallmark of future champions

    Episode 182

    Show notes

This is what champions do. For over an hour in the Champions League, nothing was really happening—it was tight, tense, and Lille looked completely settled. Then Arsenal decided to flip the switch, producing a devastating 7-minute blitz that blew them completely off the park.

That is the difference at the highest level. You don’t need to dominate for 90 minutes when you carry this kind of aura. When the breakthrough comes, you suffocate the opposition, kill the contest instantly, and walk away with a 3-0 win.

In this post-match reaction episode, we break down:

    • JurriĆ«n Timber's deadlock-breaking opener and its shift in momentum
    • Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka ruthlessly putting the tie to bed in minutes
    • Mikel Arteta’s tactical substitutions sparking that sudden gear change
    • Why possessing the aura to blow teams away out of nowhere makes Arsenal terrifying in Europe

We got away with one. For the first 60 minutes against Leeds, Arsenal looked completely devoid of ideas—lethargic, sloppy, and second-best to every ball. But if you want to win titles, you need match-winners to bail you out when the system isn't clicking.

We analyze the tactical tweaks that finally got us going, and of course, dissect that absolute world-class stunner from Bruno Guimarães to snatch all three points.

David Ornstein has just dropped the biggest bombshell in Premier League history: Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on 114 of the 115 financial charges brought against them. 🚨

In this emergency episode of The Real Arsenal Deal, we step back to look at the massive, unprecedented ramifications of this verdict. This isn't just an Arsenal issue—this is a seismic event that impacts the entire landscape of European football.

We break down the core of the guilty verdict covering the 2009 to 2018 period, including the alleged inflated sponsorship income and off-the-books payments. With the independent panel finding them guilty on almost every single count, we discuss the potential sanctions: Will they face a historic points deduction? Expulsion from the Premier League? Or the retrospective stripping of their titles?

We also look at what this means for the integrity of the sport, the potential for massive compensation lawsuits from other clubs who missed out on trophies or European qualification, and how this overshadows their current season under Enzo Maresca.

This is monumental. Where does English football go from here? Let us know your thoughts on the verdict and the punishment you think fits the crime in the comments. šŸ‘‡

In this episode of The Real Arsenal Deal, we break down Kai Havertz limping off before the half-hour mark for Germany against the Netherlands following a heavy challenge from Quinten Timber. With an apparent hamstring issue on the table, we look at the immediate fallout: how long he could be sidelined, how this impacts our setup, and who steps into the central role to lead the line.

On the other side of the news cycle, Mikel Arteta has strongly been linked to a new three-year contract extension. While not officially signed yet, a verbal agreement is reportedly in place and an announcement is considered an imminent formality. We discuss the timing of the deal and the long-term stability it brings right after that shock 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

Finally, we jump into a full listener Q&A to tackle your questions on defensive rotation, squad depth, and the tactical adjustments needed when club football returns.

That was a completely unacceptable performance from Mikel Arteta's side. The unbeaten Premier League start is over, and we were played off the park on the South Coast. šŸ”“āšŖ

n this post-match reaction episode of The Real Arsenal Deal, we dissect the disastrous 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex. We break down the unusually sloppy performance, the failure of our makeshift defense, and how Fabian Hürzeler managed to completely dismantle us. From Pascal Groß and Charalampos Kostoulas scoring from outside the penalty area to conceding a terrible third goal from a corner to Chema Andrés, nothing went right.

We also look at Arteta's substitutions—bringing on Zubimendi, Merino, Gyƶkeres, and Eze when the game was already slipping away—and what this crushing reality check means heading into the international break.

Where do you even begin with that performance? Who is to blame? Drop your thoughts and player ratings in the comments below! šŸ‘‡

Just one more game before the international break, but the casualty list is piling up. šŸ”“āšŖ

In this episode of The Real Arsenal Deal, we’re previewing a massive, high-stakes away clash against Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton. We dive deep into the cluster of defensive injuries threatening our perfect Premier League start. With William Saliba still a long-term absentee, Mikel Arteta is now sweating over the fitness of Ben White, Piero HincapiĆ©, and Cristhian Mosquera, while JurriĆ«n Timber's minutes are being heavily managed. Can a makeshift backline survive the Amex?

We also discuss the fallout from the Carabao Cup—after poor midweek auditions, Viktor Gyƶkeres and Eberechi Eze are out of the starting picture. Meanwhile, the midfield debate rages on: does Bruno GuimarĆ£es finally oust Myles Lewis-Skelly in the engine room?

We need three points to protect the unbeaten run before the international break finally gives this squad a chance to rest and recover.
