Navigating Fear: Lessons from Rabbi הרב יוסי מזרחי Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi

Exploring the impact of understanding context in faith and community.

In this episode, Jessy Revivo dives into the complexities of fear within the context of faith, particularly focusing on the teachings of Rabbi Yosef Mizrachihi. Revivo reflects on a past incident where misconceptions and a lack of understanding led to the cancellation of a significant event, shedding light on the broader implications of our actions and decisions.

    The Power of Context

Revivo begins by recalling a contentious situation involving הרב יוסי מזרחי Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi, a rabbi who has sparked significant conversations online. He emphasizes the importance of context in understanding religious teachings. A comment from a listener brought to light how easily information can be misconstrued, leading to decisions that may ultimately harm the community.

"People are walking around like the blind leading the blind out here, chasing after all the material, chasing after all the phoniness, right? Destroying relationships for what?"
    — Jessy Revivo

Revivo argues that many individuals are quick to react without fully comprehending the teachings or the intentions behind them. This theme of fear, particularly in relation to religious authority, serves as a reminder of the responsibility we bear when making decisions that affect others.

    Lessons in Decision-Making

The crux of Revivo's message is a call for reflection and investigation before making judgments. He illustrates this with the example of an individual who canceled a speaking event for הרב יוסי מזרחי Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi due to a misinterpretation of his remarks regarding children with disabilities. Revivo highlights that the decision stemmed more from personal bias than an informed understanding of the rabbi's teachings.

In discussing this, he urges listeners to consider the implications of their choices.

"If it doesn't make sense, investigate and then make a decision."
    — Jessy Revivo

Revivo's narrative underscores the need for open dialogue and a willingness to understand different perspectives, especially when it comes to faith and community leadership.

    A Call for Open Dialogue

As the episode comes to a close, Revivo reiterates the importance of not jumping to conclusions based on hearsay. He points out that taking the time to understand the full context not only enriches our own understanding but can also lead to more meaningful connections within our communities.

In a world where misunderstandings can lead to significant consequences, Revivo’s insights serve as a poignant reminder to engage thoughtfully and compassionately with the beliefs and actions of others.

Navigating Fear and Self-Evaluation in Faith

Exploring the power of self-assessment and the role of fear in spirituality.

In this episode of the Trust Factor Podcast, Jessy Revivo dives deep into the often contentious relationship between fear and faith. He challenges listeners to confront their fears, especially in the context of their spiritual journeys, while emphasizing the importance of self-evaluation.

    The Four Benefits of Self-Evaluation

Jessy begins by revisiting four key reasons why self-evaluation is critical in our lives:

    1. **Recognition of Authority**: It’s essential to remember that there is a Creator whose commandments guide our actions.
    2. **Active Correction**: By regularly reviewing our actions, we can correct our course when necessary.
    3. **Judgment Avoidance**: Judging ourselves now can prevent harsher judgments later.
    4. **Constant Contemplation**: Daily self-evaluation reminds us of our Creator and helps us align our actions with His will.

Jessy emphasizes that the verse "Shiviti Hashem Linegdi Tamid" — to always contemplate God — should be a guiding principle in our daily decisions. This leads to a more thoughtful and intentional approach to our actions.

    The Front Page Test

Drawing on his experience in finance, Jessy introduces the "Front Page Test": if your actions were published on the front page of a newspaper, would you be proud? He urges listeners to think about how their decisions would be viewed not just by society, but in the eyes of God. This perspective can help clarify our choices and responses in challenging situations.

    The Danger of Rushing

Jessy warns against the habit of rushing to respond, especially in emotionally charged situations. He advises taking a moment to pause and reflect:
"Never rush to respond. Always take a minute and contemplate."

This pause allows for better understanding and prevents misunderstandings in conversations, whether with family, friends, or colleagues. It’s about seeking the truth rather than winning an argument.

    Fear and Faith

Transitioning to the topic of fear, Jessy points out that while fear is a powerful motivator, many shy away from discussing it in religious contexts. He explains that this reluctance often stems from a desire to maintain a positive image of faith, especially among pulpit rabbis who cater to diverse congregations.
However, Jessy argues that confronting fear is essential for growth in faith.

He concludes by encouraging listeners to embrace self-evaluation and the contemplation of their actions. By doing so, they can navigate their fears with faith rather than avoidance.

Reflect on how you can incorporate these principles into your life. Remember, taking time for self-reflection can lead to profound insights and growth in your spiritual journey.

Closing the Week with Insights and Inspiration

Reflecting on the power of self-evaluation and Torah teachings this Shabbat.

B H I S, my friends, Baruch Hashem, it's Shabbat. Another week has flown by in the blink of an eye, and it's time to reflect and set ourselves up for the week ahead. Today, I want to share some important ideas that you can discuss around your Shabbat dinner table.

    The Battle with Our Minds

Life can be overwhelmingly noisy, constantly vying for our attention, and the loudest distractions often come from within. We allow our minds to obsess over thoughts that lead us nowhere. As I mentioned, this internal chaos can be attributed to the evil inclination, which seeks to occupy our minds and divert our focus.
**"We can’t let it. We have to lock them out. And there are many tools available to lock them out. One, the best tool is Torah."**
The teachings of Torah provide clarity and guidance, acting as a powerful antidote to the challenges we face, especially when battling anxiety or despair.

    The Illusion of Quick Fixes

Many people turn to therapy or medication for their struggles, but these often serve as temporary band-aids rather than offering true healing. **"The only way to cure somebody from all of those ailments is to give them the Torah."** When we align our lives with Torah standards, we gain insights that can help us navigate the challenges of life without being overwhelmed by anxiety or despair.

    The Power of Words

We’ve spent time discussing the significance of our words:
**"You want to have, you want to increase your odds of gaining wisdom. Stay quiet. You want to demonstrate your righteousness? Stay quiet."**
The most righteous individuals speak less, letting their actions and wisdom speak louder than their words. This serves as a reminder to choose our words carefully and use them purposefully.

    Daily Self-Evaluation

One of the most crucial practices we can adopt is daily self-evaluation through prayer. Through this, we remind ourselves of our relationship with Hashem. **"When we judge ourselves on a daily basis, we remind ourselves of the Creator and His commandments."** This practice not only keeps us accountable but also prevents us from accruing spiritual debts.

    1. **Remind ourselves of our Creator.**
    2. **Make decisions to correct what needs correcting.**
    3. **Ensure the heavenly court does not judge us.**
    4. **Avoid the pitfalls of blame and take ownership of our actions.**

    Embracing Our Journey

Every challenge we face in this world is temporary.
**"This world is a hallway that connects to the next; it’s not the end in and of itself."** Our experiences here are opportunities for growth and learning. If we find ourselves back in this world, it’s because we have the potential to succeed and make meaningful changes.
**"Enjoy it, my friends. Don’t take it for granted. Remember, we have to walk around thinking this whole world was created for me."**

As we gather at our Shabbat tables this week, let’s discuss these lessons and plan for meaningful changes in our lives. The clock is ticking, friends. Let’s make the most of this opportunity. Have an amazing Shabbat, and I look forward to reconnecting on Monday.

    Navigating Life's Uncertainty with Faith

Discover the unexpected paths to success and fulfillment.

Today, Jessy Revivo shares profound insights about the unpredictability of life and the importance of surrendering to a higher power.

    The Unexpected Feedback Loop

Jessy reflects on the surprising nature of feedback he receives from episodes. Sometimes, he feels hesitant about sharing content, fearing it won't resonate with listeners, yet those very episodes often become the most impactful. This experience highlights a crucial lesson: **outcomes are often beyond our control**. We may think we know what’s best, but life has a way of surprising us.

“You think you know what's good for you. You think you know the difference between good and bad. We have no clue.”
    — Jessy Revivo

    Effort and Surrender

Life's unpredictability invites us to **make an effort while surrendering the results to Hashem**. Whether you're a professional in any field, the key is to give your all. Jessy recounts a story of a seemingly ordinary candy seller who turned out to be ultra-successful, illustrating that **greatness can come from anywhere**.

Jessy emphasizes that success isn’t about following a prescribed path — it’s about **trusting the process**, working hard, and allowing divine guidance to shape your journey.

    Living with Integrity

A recurring theme in Jessy’s teachings is the importance of living by one's values. He contrasts those who preach health but fail to practice it with individuals who genuinely strive to align their actions with their beliefs.

“Action speaks volumes. Words are cheap.”
    — Jessy Revivo

In a world rife with hypocrisy, living authentically and practicing what you preach can set you apart. Jessy encourages listeners to engage in good deeds and maintain integrity, knowing this alignment brings divine support.

    The Power of Prayer

Jessy highlights the role of prayer in overcoming our inherent struggles against the evil inclination. He urges us to cry out for help when we falter, reminding us that vulnerability is a step towards **genuine growth** and alignment with our values.

As you navigate your life, remember that **the journey is filled with ups and downs**, and embracing faith can provide a sense of peace amidst uncertainty.

Reflect on these teachings, and consider how you might incorporate them into your daily routine. For those wanting to dive deeper into Jessy's insights, the full episode awaits you.

Harnessing the Power of Prayer Through Understanding

Dive into how learning deepens your prayers and connection with the divine.

Good morning, everyone. Today, we're delving into a transformative topic: how to make your prayers more powerful by truly understanding what you are praying for.

The Essence of Learning in Prayer

Jessy Revivo shares a compelling insight: **"If you don't know what you're praying for, then number one, you won't.**" Learning about the subjects of our prayer enhances our passion and desire for them. For example, understanding the beauty of Shabbat can enrich one's prayer experience.

Jessy emphasizes that experiencing something firsthand is often the best way to learn. Simply reading about Shabbat is beneficial, but attending a Shabbat dinner and immersing oneself in the experience can lead to a deeper appreciation and understanding.

The Connection Between Desire and Prayer

The more you learn, the more you desire, and the more fervently you pray. This principle is particularly evident in the stories of our foremothers, who faced the challenge of barrenness. Their heartfelt prayers for children stemmed from a deep-seated desire, making their requests more meaningful to God.

"When you're asking for it with such passion and desire, when it comes, you are that much more grateful for having received it.**" This strengthens the bond between you and your Creator, highlighting the importance of understanding what we seek.

    Emunah: The Superpower of Faith

Jessy introduces the concept of Emunah (faith) as a powerful tool in prayer. The more we learn about Emunah, the more we yearn for it. Acknowledging that God is in control of our lives can shift our mindset, allowing us to trust the process.

"The longer they live without it, the more they want it, the stronger their prayers become."** This relentless pursuit culminates in a profound understanding that while we can control our efforts, the outcomes are in God's hands.

Practical Steps to Enhance Your Prayer Life

    1. **Immerse Yourself**: Experience what you are praying for in real life. Whether it's attending a Shabbat dinner or engaging in community activities, hands-on experience can deepen your understanding.
    2. **Study**: Read books, sit with knowledgeable individuals, or attend classes that explain the aspects of your prayers. The more you know, the more your heart will align with your requests.
    3. **Reflect on Your Desires**: Understand the depth of your desires and how they connect to your spiritual journey. This will enhance the sincerity of your prayers.

As we navigate our spiritual paths, remember the connection between understanding, desire, and prayer. Each insight brings us closer to a meaningful dialogue with the divine.

To explore these concepts further, join us in the full episode where Jessy unpacks these ideas in even greater detail.

    Embracing Life's Fleeting Moments

Reflecting on the importance of time and meaningful connections.

Good morning! As we embrace another Shabbat, let’s take a moment to reflect on the fleeting nature of life and the profound lessons we can share with our children.

    The Blink of an Eye

Jessy Revivo kicks off today’s discourse with a poignant reminder from the Torah: life is like a fleeting shadow, as transient as the blink of an eye. Just as we can barely see a fly that crosses our path, life passes us by in moments. **"If you blink, you’ll miss it,"** he says, urging us to recognize the urgency of living fully.

    A Lesson in Compassion

To truly understand this lesson, Jessy suggests taking our children to a retirement home. This experience not only fulfills the mitzvah of visiting the sick but also offers a powerful reminder of how fast life can slip away. The elderly often share their reflections on life, urging us not to wait until it’s too late to achieve our dreams. **"The worst thing that can happen is complacency,"** he warns, encouraging us to build our character and pursue our passions while we have the time.

    Miracles in Everyday Life

Jessy shares stories that illustrate this message beautifully. One tale involves a student hitchhiking from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv who recites a prayer for safety. A skeptical taxi driver laughs off the prayer until a pesky fly disrupts his driving, leading him to realize the importance of faith in seemingly mundane moments. **"What are you waiting for to realize that there’s a God that runs this world?"** Jessy prompts us to open our eyes to the miracles around us.

    Specificity in Prayer

As we navigate our lives, Jessy emphasizes the power of prayer as a vessel for abundance. He encourages us to be specific in our requests to the Creator. **"When you pray, specify exactly what it is that you want,"** he advises. This not only deepens our connection with God but also clarifies our intentions.

Let’s carry these reflections into our Shabbat and beyond, reminding ourselves of the importance of time, connection, and the little miracles that shape our lives.

As we gather with loved ones, may we find the courage to live fully and intentionally, cherishing each moment together.

    Finding Meaning in Everyday Moments

Explore how faith can transform your perspective on life's challenges.

Every day can feel like a whirlwind, leaving us pressed for time and overwhelmed by the chaos around us. Jessy Revivo dives into this reality in the latest episode of the Trust Factor Podcast, reminding us that amidst the noise, we have a choice in how we approach our lives.

    One-Stop Shopping for Life's Needs

Jessy emphasizes the importance of turning to your creator for guidance and support in all aspects of life, no matter how big or small. He asserts that enlisting Hashem in your daily endeavors is key to leading a meaningful and fulfilling life.

"Always enlist your creator in everything you do. It's simple. You want to have an easy life. You want to have a meaningful life."

In this context, Jessy clarifies that seeking divine assistance does not equate to a life free of struggles. Instead, it's about gaining perspective and appreciating the small blessings we often take for granted.

    The Illusion of Control

As Jessy vividly illustrates, believing too much in our own power can lead to unforeseen challenges. He recounts a relatable scenario involving a new car and an unexpected flat tire, showing how quickly life can throw us a curveball.

"A tiny nail on the highway... is going to bring you to a grinding halt."

This story serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how much we plan and prepare, we remain vulnerable to life's unpredictability. Jessy urges listeners to recognize that true control lies not in our own hands, but in how we respond to these challenges.

    A Shift in Perspectives

Jessy encourages us to embrace a mindset that seeks blessings even in adversity. He shares personal anecdotes about life’s seemingly unfortunate events, urging us to trust that there is a greater plan at play.

"I just lost my job. Nothing could be better."

This perspective shift is crucial, as it allows us to see beyond immediate setbacks and focus on the opportunities that may arise from them.

Daily Practices for Peace and Gratitude

Towards the end of the episode, Jessy discusses the significance of daily prayers and intentions. He emphasizes how small acts of mindfulness, like praying for patience or gratitude, can greatly influence our home environment and relationships.

"Help me to make my wife happy and give her the attention that she deserves."

By actively integrating these practices into our lives, we can foster a sense of peace and joy within our homes.

    Final Thoughts

Jessy wraps up with a heartfelt invitation to bring these lessons into our daily routines. Life’s true richness lies in our ability to appreciate the journey and the divine guidance we can lean on.

The Power of Personal Prayer: Strengthening Your Emunah

Discover how daily conversations with the Creator can transform your life.

Personal prayer is more than just a routine; it’s the lifeline that connects us to Hashem and reinforces our Emunah (faith). In this episode, Jessy Revivo delves into five pivotal reasons why personal prayer is essential for spiritual growth and personal transformation.

    1. Daily Connection Enhances Emunah

Speaking to the Creator daily instills a deeper sense of Emunahin our hearts. When we regularly bring our desires and needs to Him, we reaffirm our relationship with the divine.
Jessy notes, “When you have the same address every day that you go and ask for all the things that you desire, it reconfirms for you that you have a relationship with your creator.” This daily practice opens our eyes to the blessings we receive, reinforcing our faith.

    2. Receiving Answers Builds Confidence

When our personal prayers are answered, it nurtures our faith. Jessy explains, “When we ask and we receive, it gives us confidence in our next prayer.” This shift from theory to reality is crucial for many who struggle to perceive God’s presence in their lives. Recognizing when we receive what we've asked for enhances our sense of security and confidence.

    3. A Tool for Personal Improvement

Prayer serves as a catalyst for overcoming negative traits. By articulating our struggles in prayer, we can work towards personal improvement. “When you see that you were able to overcome what you asked Hashem for help with overcoming, it gives you an unbelievable boost of confidence,” Jessy shares. This process not only strengthens our character but also reinforces our connection to Hashem.

    4. Daily Gratitude Deepens Connection

Jessy emphasizes the importance of gratitude in our prayers: “If you have five children and one child comes all the time… who are you going to focus your time and attention on?” Regularly thanking Hashem for our blessings draws us closer to Him, positioning us to receive even more.

    5. Understanding Divine Intent

Confessing our transgressions in prayer allows us to grasp that everything comes from Hashem’s love. “Even the difficult things… remind me that Hashem is doing everything for me, not against me,” Jessy reminds us. Recognizing that challenges are part of our growth journey fosters resilience and faith.

To harness the power of personal prayer, Jessy encourages us to engage with Hashem in every aspect of our lives, from the trivial to the profound. By doing so, we cultivate a deep awareness that everything we have and experience comes from the Creator.

Reflect on your own prayer practice: Are you making the most of this transformative opportunity? Consider how incorporating daily conversations with Hashem can enhance your life.

Taking the First Step: Embracing Change with a Prayer

Discover the power of self-assessment and prayer in overcoming fears.

Every week brings a new opportunity, and as Jessy Revivo reminds us, taking that first step is often the hardest part of any journey. In this episode of the Truss Factor, Jessy dives deep into the fears that hold us back and how embracing prayer and self-assessment can help us break free.

The Fear of the First Step

Many of us hesitate to take that initial step toward change. Jessy points out that it’s not unusual to feel scared. Questions flood our minds: What if I fail? What if I hurt myself? These uncertainties can trap us in a bubble, preventing us from experiencing growth.

"A lot of people don't do that. For good reason, it's scary. How am I supposed to take a step?" — Jessy Revivo

    The Importance of Self-Assessment
Jessy emphasizes that the first step to self-betterment is prayer and self-assessment. Before diving into any new venture, it’s crucial to have a moment of reflection.

"The critical first step towards self-rectification to move the ball forward is... prayer and self-assessment." — Jessy Revivo

When we assess our motivations and seek guidance through prayer, we align our goals with a higher purpose. This shift in perspective transforms fear into empowerment.

    Establishing a Connection

Jessy shares a compelling analogy: having a direct line to the Creator is akin to having the phone number of the most powerful person in the world. Yet, many of us take this connection for granted.

"You have a direct line to Him. You're going to minimize that?" — Jessy Revivo

Taking time for personal prayer is not just a routine; it’s an opportunity to engage deeply with our intentions and aspirations. Jessy encourages listeners to prioritize this connection, ensuring that we are not overwhelmed by daily stresses.

Structured Prayer: A Pathway to Clarity

Incorporating structured prayer into our lives can unlock doors that we didn’t even know existed. Jessy explains that the prayer book serves as a guide, helping us navigate our conversations with the Creator.

"There is a right way to get to where you're going through prayers." — Jessy Revivo

By following this structure, we can express our innermost feelings sincerely and effectively, paving the way for growth and understanding.

    A Gentle Reminder

As we move forward, let’s not forget the power of the first step. Whether it’s starting a new project or reaching out for support, remember to pause, pray, and assess your path.

In the end, it’s about taking that leap of faith, trusting in ourselves and the guidance we receive. Thank you for joining us this week. Let’s continue to grow together.

The Power of Gratitude in Judgment

Discover how gratitude can transform your perspective and life.

Gratitude is more than just a polite gesture; it’s a vital principle that shapes our lives. In this episode, Jessy Revivo explores the transformative power of gratitude and how it influences our judgment and perceptions.

    The Essence of Gratitude

Jessy emphasizes that gratitude is the secret ingredient that can unlock abundance in our lives. He recounts a relatable scenario: imagine attending a dinner where you're served a delicious meal. The way to receive that last piece of meat is not by being greedy, but by expressing genuine gratitude. **“Thank you, that was the best piece of steak I’ve ever had,”** he says, which opens doors to further generosity.

    The Counter to Entitlement

In today’s world, entitlement can overshadow gratitude. Jessy points out that many struggle with feelings of deservingness instead of appreciation. **“We need to bring back gratitude,”** he urges. It’s essential, not just for personal growth but for teaching future generations about humility and appreciation.

    Levels of Gratitude

Not all gratitude is created equal. Jessy explains that merely acknowledging a blessing isn’t enough; we must dive deeper. By recalling and reliving the challenges we’ve avoided, we can elevate our gratitude. **“When you want to take it to a whole other level of gratitude, that’s how you do it,”** he advises. This deeper appreciation can transform our outlook on life.

The Cycle of Judgment and Gratitude

Gratitude and judgment are intertwined. Jessy explains that expressing gratitude can mitigate harsh judgments in our lives. The joy that gratitude brings to our hearts can stave off negativity and lead to a more fulfilling existence. **“The more gratitude you show, the more Hashem is willing to do for you,”** he shares, illustrating the powerful correlation between gratitude and abundance.

    A Call to Action

As we navigate through life, let us remember that gratitude should precede our actions. It’s not just a reaction but a proactive approach to living. Jessy reminds us that as we cultivate gratitude, we can reshape our judgments and enhance our overall wellbeing.

    Navigating Self-Judgment for Personal Growth

Explore healthy ways to evaluate yourself without falling into despair.

Good morning! Today, we dive into the challenging yet essential topic of self-judgment. How we assess ourselves can either propel us forward or sink us into negativity. Here’s how to find that balance.

    The Importance of Healthy Self-Judgment

Jessy Revivo kicks off the discussion by emphasizing that self-judgment isn’t about being harsh on ourselves; it’s about fostering personal growth. Over-judgment leads to feelings of depression and anxiety, while under-judgment can cause us to overlook behaviors that need correction. It’s crucial to find a healthy middle ground.

Key Principles to Guide Your Judgment

Jessy outlines seven principles for effective self-judgment that can lead to genuine personal development:

    1. **Remember You’re Not Alone**: Recognize that the challenges you face are part of a divine test designed for your growth.

    2. **Confession as a Tool**: Engaging in vidui (confession) is not just about admitting mistakes. It’s a process of seeking truth, feeling remorse, and taking actionable steps to change.

    3. **Tests Tailored for You**: Understand that every challenge you face is specifically designed for your growth. Just like physical training, spiritual tests increase in difficulty to help you build strength.

    4. **Commit to Learning**: Identify areas where you struggle and dedicate time to study with qualified teachers or reliable resources.

    5. **The Power of Prayer**: Establishing a daily prayer routine is vital. It’s a reminder that you’re not alone in your struggles. Make time for personal conversations with your Creator to seek guidance and express gratitude.

    6. **Be Patient**: Prayer and self-improvement take time. In a world driven by instant gratification, remember that meaningful change is often gradual.

"Just those times of prayer when you're talking to your creator and getting life in perspective... you're light years ahead of 95% of the population." — Jessy Revivo

    Final Thoughts

Self-judgment can be a double-edged sword. When wielded wisely, it can lead to profound growth and clarity. As we reflect on today’s insights, consider how you can incorporate these principles into your own life.

Taking the time for introspection, confession, and prayer can transform your outlook and guide you toward a more fulfilling life.

    Navigating the Complexities of Self-Judgment

Exploring the balance between self-reflection and compassion.

In this episode of the Trust Factor Podcast, Jessy Revivo dives deep into the often misunderstood concept of judgment—specifically, the judgment we place upon ourselves.

    The Nature of Judgment

Judgment is a double-edged sword. On one hand, we are reminded not to judge others, yet on the other, self-judgment is crucial for personal growth. Jessy emphasizes that without self-reflection, we risk becoming complacent, drifting through life without making meaningful changes.

"If you don't judge yourself, you risk...continuing to behave in a way that's unbecoming."

This introspection is necessary; it keeps us grounded and in touch with who we are and who we aspire to be.

    The Risk of Over-Judgment

However, Jessy warns against the dangers of excessive self-criticism. Judging ourselves too harshly, often based on societal standards, can lead to feelings of inadequacy and despair.

"The risk becomes...you end up beating yourself into a pulp."

Instead of fostering growth, this kind of judgment can create a cycle of negativity, distancing us from our true selves and from our creator.

    The Path to Healthy Self-Judgment

So, how do we navigate this complex terrain? Jessy introduces seven essential rules for effective self-judgment. The first rule is simple yet powerful: **God desires happiness, not despair.**

"Hashem only wants you to be happy, which means if you're sad and depressed because you've sinned, you're doing the exact opposite of what he wants."

This principle invites us to approach our mistakes with a mindset of growth rather than guilt.

    The Importance of Confession

Central to the process of healthy self-judgment is confession. Jessy highlights that admitting our faults aloud can transform our internal dialogue. This four-step process involves confession, remorse, apology, and active steps toward change.

"If you don't apologize to the person that you wronged, you got a problem."

These steps not only help in fostering personal accountability but also in mending relationships with others.

    Conclusion

As Jessy wraps up, he reminds us: knowing how to judge ourselves properly can bring us closer to our creator, making us humble and self-aware. The journey of self-judgment is not about perfection but about striving to be better, one day at a time.

For a deeper dive into these concepts and to discover the remaining rules for healthy self-judgment, listen to the full episode.

    The Truth About Self-Judgment (S.2 Ep. 201)

Finding Balance: How to Judge Yourself Kindly

Exploring the importance of self-judgment and gratitude in our lives.

Good morning! Let's dive into the concept of self-judgment and the art of being kind to ourselves.

    The Fine Line of Self-Judgment

Jessy Revivo emphasizes that while we are naturally inclined to judge ourselves, it’s crucial to find a balance. Judging ourselves too harshly can leave us stagnant, but too much leniency can hinder our growth. Finding that middle ground is key. As Jessy puts it, **"The only way that the evil inclination wins is when you stay down."**

    Recapping the Five Rules

In this episode, Jessy wraps up the fifth rule of self-judgment by summarizing the first four:

    1. **You are a good person.** Remember that you are not inherently wicked.
    2. **Living in a fantasy.** Don’t fall into despair when you make mistakes; acknowledge your humanity.
    3. **Seek help.** You can’t overcome your challenges alone; enlist your creator.
    4. **Desire is key.** Your desire to improve is what you can control.
    5. **Be happy with your lot in life.** This final rule resonates deeply.

    Finding Happiness in Your Circumstances

Jessy shares that happiness with your lot does not only refer to material possessions but also about recognizing the spiritual journey you are on. **"Everything that happens to you is designed for your growth,"** he reminds us. It’s about acknowledging both the good and the potential difficulties that could have arisen.

During a recent walk, Jessy reflected on the smooth transitions in his life and pointed out that expressing gratitude means considering the challenges that didn’t occur. **"If you really want to amp up your level of gratitude, think about all the things that could have happened but didn’t."**

    Acknowledging Our Imperfections

Jessy encourages us to accept our flaws and understand that we are here to improve them. If we recognize that we have character traits to work on, we can approach our challenges with a more grounded perspective. **"The life is custom crafted for you,"** he states, which emphasizes the uniqueness of our journeys.

    The Importance of Daily Reflection

To really understand ourselves, Jessy advises dedicating time for personal prayer and reflection each day. This practice allows us to assess our lives calmly and joyously, enabling us to grow rather than dwell in negativity.

As we continue our journeys, let’s remember to judge ourselves with kindness, recognizing both our strengths and areas for growth.

In this episode of the Trust Factor Podcast, Jessy Revivo takes us through essential principles that guide personal growth and resilience. With a mix of reflection and actionable insights, he shares valuable lessons that we can apply in our daily lives.

    The Essence of Goodness

Jessy emphasizes the importance of recognizing our innate goodness. He reminds us that if we are engaging with this content, we are likely among those who strive to be better. **"Give yourself a pat on the back. You're in a category of people who are destined to succeed in this life."** This affirmation serves as a solid foundation for personal development.

    Facing the Reality of Imperfection

The second principle addresses the common pitfall of comparing ourselves to others. Jessy states, **"No one is all good with no evil. It doesn't exist."** Acknowledging that everyone has flaws allows us to embrace our humanity and focus on improvement without the pressure of perfection.

The Role of the Evil Inclination

Jessy discusses the concept of the evil inclination, stating that **"we can't overcome our inclination unless we enlist the help of our creator."** This highlights the necessity of seeking support in our journey towards betterment, reinforcing that we are not alone in our struggles.

    Cultivating Desire for Improvement

The fourth principle centers on desire, which Jessy describes as the driving force behind our actions. **"We have the free choice to want to improve. Even if we don't succeed in doing so, we can always desire."** This emphasizes that the desire to change is a powerful first step in our journey.

    Action is Key

Finally, Jessy stresses the importance of translating inspiration into action. **"Inspiration is nothing without action."** By taking concrete steps toward our goals, we harness the power of our intentions and move closer to achieving them.

As we reflect on these principles, it becomes clear that personal growth is a journey filled with challenges and opportunities. The knowledge we gain along the way can empower us to overcome obstacles and strive for a more fulfilling life.

The Power of Repetition in Learning and Life

How consistent review can lead to personal growth and understanding.

Good morning! Today, we dive into the transformative power of repetition, as discussed in the latest episode of the Trust Factor Podcast. Jessy Revivo shares profound insights on how consistent review not only enhances our learning but also impacts our emotional and spiritual well-being.

    The Challenge of Learning Gemara

Jessy begins by reflecting on the difficulties many face when learning Gemara, a complex and ancient text. He emphasizes that the struggle is not uncommon, and shares his experience with a program called Kenyon Masekta, which revolutionized his approach to learning. The key takeaway? **Repetition is paramount.**

Every session encourages students to review and reinforce their understanding, ensuring that the principles learned are firmly grasped.

"Every time I would learn with somebody, that person would ultimately finish the class by saying, 'Go home and review.' And what would happen? Nothing. Nobody would go home and review because we're too busy."

    The Importance of Emotional Well-Being

Transitioning to a deeper theme, Jessy explores the creator's principal complaint against humanity: **sadness.** He discusses the biblical story of Cain and Abel, where Hashem's focus was not on Cain's sin but on his emotional state.

This leads to a powerful realization: maintaining our emotional health is crucial.

"Hashem is much more concerned with your emotional and physical well-being than with any single mitzvah."

Joy as a Path to Growth

Jessy eloquently explains the connection between joy and personal growth. He cites **Nachman of Brezlev**, who teaches that penitence, or chuva, is only possible when done in a state of joy. This joy allows individuals to regain control over their thoughts and actions, enabling them to reflect and grow positively.

"Once he is happy, he can properly assess himself and get close to the creator. That's why joy is the key that releases him from the mental and emotional prison that he's in."

    Overcoming Setbacks

The conversation shifts to dealing with setbacks and mistakes. Jessy reassures us that everyone makes mistakes and that what truly matters is our ability to rise again. He encourages listeners to focus on their good qualities and to appreciate the positive impact they can have on the world.

"Even if he would commit the worst sin in the world, he wouldn’t fall into despair and depression. You pick yourself up and move forward."

In closing, Jessy reminds us that joy and gratitude are powerful tools for transformation. By focusing on the good within ourselves, we can not only uplift our spirits but also create positive change in the world around us.

Have an amazing day, my friends. We'll chat again tomorrow!

Refining Our Relationship with the Creator Exploring our struggles and growth through Divine guidance. In this episode of the Trust Factor Podcast, we delve into the profound relationship we share with our creator and the challenges posed by our own inclinations. Drawing insights from the *Universal Garden of Emuna* by Rabbi Shalom Arush, we reflect on how the Creator views us and the expectations set forth in our spiritual journeys. Understanding Divine Perspectives Jessy Revivo highlights a comforting truth: our creator does not harbor baseless complaints about us. Instead, He sees potential and goodness within us. As Jessy articulates, "The creator doesn't sit around thinking, 'What a terrible creation I have.' If anything, He does the exact opposite. "This perspective is crucial as it encourages us to view our shortcomings not as failures, but as opportunities for growth. Just like a parent who lovingly guides a child, Hashem understands our struggles and urges us to keep trying, no matter how many attempts it may take. The Nature of Commandments A key insight from this discussion is the acknowledgment that some commandments may seem unattainable at first. Jessy reminds us that "there are commandments that you won't be able to fulfill until you refine your negative character traits." This refinement comes through learning and growth, particularly through the study of Torah, which acts as an antidote to life’s challenges. Jessy emphasizes the importance of seeking divine assistance in our endeavors, encouraging listeners to verbalize their struggles and desires: "Ask for the things that you need and let Him know that you know that you can’t do this without Him. "The Journey of Learning The episode also touches on the transformative power of learning. As Jessy shares, engaging with Torah study can renew our spirits and provide unexpected energy: "Even if the material goes over my head, I come out of a Torah class... with a spring in my step. "This experience of learning, even amidst challenges, is likened to parenting—understanding that growth is a process. Jessy states, "You can aspire to greatness, but unless and until you learn enough to refine your character, you simply will not be able to achieve these things. "Reflections on Growth Ultimately, this episode invites us to embrace our journeys with patience and faith. Jessy’s reflections remind us that every day offers new opportunities for improvement and connection with our creator. As we navigate our challenges, it's essential to remember that our efforts, however small, are valued and supported.
