The Daily Wolf | The SEC just drew the line on who controls a blockchain
Show notes
From The Daily Wolf with Scott Melker, live weekdays at 12pm ET on Yahoo Finance.
The SEC added three FAQ entries on Monday that say token holders who vote in on-chain governance are generally not a controlling group, so long as they are unaffiliated. Scott Melker walks through what that means for which tokens get treated as commodities, and why staff guidance still is not a rule.
Binance says net outflows have reached $5.28 billion and deposits are now outpacing withdrawals. North Korea denies taking the money. New Jersey rescinded its 2023 order against Coinbase staking, and Brazil's Mercado Bitcoin halted withdrawals after roughly $40 million was drained across ten chains.

Show notes
Bitwise Head of Research Ryan Rasmussen joins Scott with Arch Public CEO Tillman Holloway and co-founder Andrew Parish on midterm election day, as Bitcoin breaks below its September trading range after the biggest crypto hack ever and prediction markets price a Democratic sweep of Congress.
The panel debates what the midterms could mean for crypto regulation, why Bitcoin ETF flows have stalled into apathy, and what financial advisors are now asking Bitwise about, from tokenization to stablecoins. They also cover the Binance hack and North Korea's denial, where retail should hold Bitcoin and how in-kind transfers into ETFs work, the SEC clearing perpetual futures on individual stocks, why Bitcoin is holding near $77,000 through a brutal tech selloff, Bitwise's $1.6 million 2036 Bitcoin target, and trading volatility with algorithmic tools.

The Daily Wolf | Binance lost $6.3 billion in the biggest crypto theft ever
Show notes
From The Daily Wolf with Scott Melker, live weekdays at 12pm ET on Yahoo Finance.
The FBI has attributed the $6.3 billion theft from Binance to North Korea's TraderTraitor group, which moved the money across ten blockchains in about twenty minutes. Binance says it replaced roughly 95% of it from its own reserves, and investigators have frozen another $2.85 billion. Scott Melker explains why the outflows stayed under 4% of customer assets.
Strategy bought 811 Bitcoin and now holds 849,327. Bitcoin ETFs lost $643 million on Friday, their worst day since June. And Chris Larsen, Chairman of Ripple, is personally funding the senator his own company's super PAC is spending millions to defeat.

Bitcoin Faces Its Toughest Macro Test Of 2026
Show notes
Macro and precious-metals commentator Mario Innecco and Bloomberg Intelligence's Mike McGlone join Scott on Macro Monday as Fed rate hikes come back on the menu a day before the U.S. midterm elections, putting Bitcoin, gold and bonds to the test.
Mike and Mario debate whether gold has put in a lasting top, whether 10-year Treasury yields near 5% make bonds the better trade, central banks buying gold at a record pace and the UK looking at tokenized gold as collateral, and whether it takes a market crisis to stop runaway deficits. They also cover midterm odds and what a Democratic sweep could mean for markets, Friday's tech earnings jitters and AI valuations, inflation lessons from the 1970s, the Chinese yuan's strongest level against the dollar since 2022, and gold versus the S&P 500 over the last century.

Bitcoin Is Coming For The Banks | Jesse Pollak
Show notes
Jesse Pollak, creator of Base at Coinbase, joins Scott to explain how crypto is bringing Wall Street onchain, from JPMorgan and Citi to tokenized stocks, AI agents and Bitcoin.
Jesse walks through how he went from building Coinbase's consumer apps to creating Base, and why he thinks crypto has found product-market fit in trading, payments and lending. They get into Shopify payments, JPMorgan deposit tokens and Citi letting customers move USDC in and out of their bank accounts, why less than 1% of the world's dollars and stocks move on these rails today, tokenized stocks trading 24/7 and borrowing against them, why some companies are opting out, and what Base means for Ethereum and for Coinbase. Jesse also explains why he expects 2027 to be the year of agentic finance and how Base is making Bitcoin more useful.

The Daily Wolf | Binance's $6.3 billion hack is four times the size of the old record.
Show notes
From The Daily Wolf with Scott Melker, live weekdays at 12pm ET on Yahoo Finance.
Binance says hackers stole $6.3 billion, the largest exchange hack on record and about four times last year's Bybit theft. A compromised engineer's laptop opened the door, Tether and Circle have frozen roughly $3 billion of the funds, and Binance says it will cover the rest itself. Scott also covers Nasdaq's fight against a rival tokenized-stock venue, presses Michael Saylor on Strategy's own tokenization plans, and breaks down why Big Tech's earnings selloff rattled markets more than the hack did. Plus Coinbase's earnings and two more wallet-security scares.

BITCOIN CRASHES as Binance Confirms $6.3B BIGGEST HACK EVER
Show notes
Dan Held, Bitcoin marketer and former head of marketing at Kraken, joins Scott after Bitcoin dropped as low as $76,000 and Binance confirmed the largest crypto hack in history, roughly $6.3 billion.
Scott and Dan break down how a single developer's laptop could lead to the Binance exploit, why it looks like social engineering rather than AI, how frozen funds and Binance's SAFU fund shrink the hole to about $2 billion, and the wider wave of attacks on Polymarket and hardware wallets. They cover self-custody and cold storage lessons, CZ's crisis communications, exchanges pushing back on tokenized stocks, Kraken and on-chain IPOs, and why institutions now agree Bitcoin was right. Dan shares what he's building with Perception, then Scott runs The Weekly Wreckoning: Strive's Bitcoin buying, Ripple's trust charter, the Fed holding rates, DTCC's tokenization service, Bitwise's $1.6 million target, ICE and Hyperliquid perps, and Coinbase earnings.

The DTCC's tokenization service went live with 34 securities and 20 Wall Street firms, among them J.P. Morgan, Citi, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and Fidelity. Scott Melker asks whether this is adoption or whether Wall Street took the technology and turned it into plumbing.
The Fed held rates in a 10-2 vote, then GDP came in at 3.4% and PCE inflation at 3.6%. Utah filed 14 criminal charges against Kalshi and its co-founders while the CFTC sued Utah to stop it. Bitwise Sees $1.6 Million Bitcoin Ahead | Matt Cole
Show notes
Matt Cole, Chairman and CEO of Strive, joins Scott to break down Bitwise's new forecast of $1.6 million per bitcoin by 2036, why corporate Bitcoin buying outside Strategy has dried up, and how Strive keeps adding bitcoin through digital credit after a $511 million buy took its treasury to about 43,000 BTC.
Matt explains why Bitwise's base case is defensible, why superintelligence and dollar debasement favor scarce assets like Bitcoin, and how Strive's fixed-rate SATS differs from SATA for income investors. They cover Strategy shareholders approving daily dividends, which Bitcoin treasury companies are likely to survive, blending Bitcoin with real estate, and why AI-driven hacks and hardware wallet tampering are pushing some holders away from self-custody for now.
