    Chinese Communists arrest 27 Christians

China Aid reports that Chinese Communists arrested 27 Christians on October 18th in a raid on a house church in Jiangxi Province located in Southeastern China. Two leaders remain in custody.

They were charged with having attended a short theological training course in Indonesia.

High abortion rate and low fertility rate in United Kingdom Right to Life UK has issues a warning concerning sagging births in England and Wales — the lowest in 50 years.

The report revealed that 32% of pregnancies end in abortion. That’s up from 20% just 15 years ago. The pro-life group noted that things are about to get worse after the abortion-up-to-birth amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill became law earlier this year.

Right now, the United Kingdom’s fertility rate is running about 1.39. That means that 1,000 women of childbearing age will only have an average of 1,390 children during their reproductive years. In order for women to replace the current population, those 1,000 women would need to have 2,100 children during their reproductive years.

North Korean theft of $6.4 billion

The FBI has identified the North Korean government as the culprit in what may be the largest crypto hack in history.

The bandits made off with $6.4 billion of stablecoin, through the crypto-exchange Binance.

Shockingly, that would be about 18% of North Korea’s annual budget which is enough money to pay for 630 nuclear warheads.

As of Monday morning, Binance acknowledged $4.6 billion withdrawalsfrom less trusting customers after the heist took place over the weekend.

ChainAnalysis estimates losses of $17 billion per year in crypto frauds. The FBI’s numbers indicate that online cybercrime losses have increased from half a billion dollars a year in 2011 to $21 billion just last year. In the words of Nahum, “Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery. Its victim never departs … who sells nations through her harlotries, and families through her sorceries. ‘Behold, I am against you,’ says the Lord of hosts.” (Nahum 3:1, 4b-5)

Ways to protect yourself from financial fraud

    Protect yourself from fraud.

Never rely on a phone number displayed on your phone when the voice claims to be a police officer, a banker, or some other official. Call back on a trusted number, reports the Federal Trade Commission.

Establish a family emergency code word. Never use a link to a bank, PayPal, or Amazon provided by an e-mail. Do not trust videos or familiar voices as proof.

Always be suspicious of urgency and secrecy. And never transfer money based solely on a call, text, or video.

Trump celebrated Reformation Day and “message of salvation” For the first time since the days of President Herbert Hoover, the White House has issued a statement celebrating Reformation Day.

Saturday, October 31st marked the 509th anniversary since Martin Luther issued his 95 theses in Wittenberg, Germany in which he listed unbiblical positions of the Catholic Church. President Donald Trump said, “From the earliest days of our Republic, prayer and faith in Almighty God have stood as the foundation of our strength, the source of our unity, and the fount of our greatness. This Reformation Day, I send my best wishes to the countless Christians across our country commemorating the Protestant Reformation and its enduring message of salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

“Five hundred years ago, William Tyndale—inspired by the work of Martin Luther—advanced the Protestant Reformation’s devotion to Holy Scripture through the publication of the first New Testament printed in English, shaping the language of the Bibles that would fortify the faith and resolve of America’s founding generation.”

President Trump added, “The Sacred Scriptures helped form the religious convictions that formed our young Nation’s founding ideals of God-given rights and individual liberty, a spiritual inheritance we honor as we continue to reflect on 250 glorious years of American Independence.

“The Bible remains a cornerstone of our Nation’s character and upholds our steadfast devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Guided by an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, my Administration is working to restore the moral and religious foundations that have sustained our Republic for generations.”

If you haven’t voted yet, cast your ballot today

This is Election Day. Do not forget to vote!

As we head into the midterm elections today, most of the polls are not favoring Republicans.

Fox News polls are the most favorable to Republican candidates, putting the Democrat ahead in the U.S. Senate race in Ohio, but calling the Michigan, Texas, and Maine races pretty much neck and neck. And Fox News is putting Democrats ahead in the U.S. House races, projecting 223 seats to the Democrats, 195 to the Republicans, and 17 toss-ups.

Remember, God is in control. Proverbs 16:33 says, “The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.”

Michigan Democrat endorsed Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate Ahead of the midterm elections, U.S. Representative Haley Stevens, a Democrat, endorsed Michigan Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate, reports CBS News.

Stevens lost in the heated U.S. Senate Democratic primary in Michigan to Abdul El-Sayed, a radical candidate who has gained notoriety for his stances on many issues.

Listen to Stevens’ explanation for her shock endorsement.

STEVENS: “Hey Michigan, as you may have seen, our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul [El-Sayed], said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away.

“And he's right, and that's why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.

“I don't belong in Abdul's campaign. I do not stand with Hasan Piker, who gets trafficked on our college campuses.

“A dear friend of mine earlier today was saying that education is on the ballot, and she's absolutely right. What our students see, what our children see, and who we are as Michiganders is not hate.”

Michigan is one of the top battleground states headed into tonight’s elections.

Off-duty firefighter saved man from burning building

And finally, an uplifting story from Everyday Heroes television!

An off-duty firefighter in Tulsa, Oklahoma saved a man from a burning building. A.J. Morrison was driving by the fire with ”no gear, no truck — just gym shorts, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes.” He crawled into the house staying as low as he could, found the victim — an unconscious man in a wheelchair -- and dragged him out to safety.

MORRISON: "That's what God put me on this Earth to do. I just try to use my fleshly body as a vessel and carry out His will.”

The Tulsa City Council honored Morrison for his “quick thinking and selfless actions.”

Canada eager to become Associate Member of European Union

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is doubling down on her bid for Canada to join the European Union as its first associate member.

Von der Leyen said, “Of course, Canada cannot become a full-fledged member of the European Union because of geography. But we both want to bring our relationship to the highest level possible, and this is why we are discussing the idea of Canada becoming the first associate member of the European Union.”

The proposal has received some pushback from European delegations, but Von der Leyen declared, “Our idea is simple: an association without accession. But we can replace accession with a common ambition and vision. We can build a partnership that comes closer to membership than anything we’ve done before.”

As Canada continues its current rift with the United States, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is open to the idea of a closer relationship with the European Union.

More Safe Haven Baby Boxes are being installed across the country.

The organization, built to protect vulnerable infants who can no longer be cared for by their parents, allows for mothers to safely surrender their babies at local fire departments or hospitals. Once the mother has had time to leave the area, an alarm goes off, alerting the personnel of a child, who is then cared for and checked at a local hospital.

The organization has just recently added new Baby Boxes in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri, with Texas planning to add another soon.

One such hospital to receive a new Safe Haven Baby Box was MercyOne Genesis Davenport Hospital in Iowa. Lauren Lovedy with MercyOne stated, “We have now an upgraded NICU, we have a pediatric unit, we have 24/7 neonatology. If a baby does need medical attention, we’re here to do that for them. We’re not delaying care. Not only are we getting them safe, we’re getting them the care they need.”

Christian family in India severely beaten by Hindu extremists

A family in India has decided to leave their ancestral home rather than renounce Christ after police allowed a mob of more than 150 Hindu extremists, intent on killing them, to severely beat them, reports Morning Star News.

The injuries that Vikas Salam and three others received in Chhattisgarh State’s Kanker District on September 21 required hospital treatment, as the assailants beat women, children and the elderly while police shockingly ignored their pleas for help.

The mob attacked and beat three Christian families with sticks, vandalized their homes and threatened to expel them from the village because they refused to renounce their faith in Jesus Christ. Local officials also later pressured the families to recant their faith.

Salam, age 24, said, “We have been following Jesus for the last 10 years. The villagers told us to either return to the Hindu fold or leave the village.” Here at The Worldview we celebrate their bold faith.

In Romans 8:38-39, the Apostle Paul wrote, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Join me and send a polite, 4-sentence note to the Indian Ambassador to America, Vinay Kwatra, urging him to speak up for the right of Christians to practice their faith without being harassed and beaten. Send it to the Embassy of India, 2107 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20008.

Halloween horror at U.S. stock market

The entire U.S. stock market looked like a house of Halloween horrors on October 30th, driven by rapidly sinking tech stocks tied to the swelling Artificial Intelligence bubble, reports Futurism.com.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 — home of major AI stocks like Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft Corp, and Amazon — was down 2.6 percent, well on track for a $1 trillion drop, as NBC News observed.

Losses were pushed by Amazon, which shed about two percent when trading opened Friday morning. In particular, Amazon’s capital expenditures for 2026 ballooned to $220 billion, much of which is tied to Artificial Intelligence.

Friday’s bloodbath comes after shares for Google’s parent company Alphabet — a major bellwether for the Artificial Intelligence trade — plummeted by over 12.6 percent on Thursday. It was the company’s worst single trading day ever, and the second-largest single day wipe out of any company’s stock in history, obliterating over $500 billion worth of market value.

The motion is all stoking fears of a bursting AI bubble, as trillions of dollars remain tied up in just a few top AI companies.

Pollster discussed Michigan and Texas Senate races

Matt Towery, a former Republican Georgia State Rep, founded InsiderAdvantage polling firm. In late 2014, he encouraged Donald Trump to run for the U.S. presidency, suggesting he would be a serious contender. His polls were among the few to call the 2016 presidential race for Trump over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Appearing on The Joe Pags Show, heard on 180 stations, he explained that the Democrat candidates do not have as much of a lead as the legacy media has been claiming.

He referenced the Michigan U.S. Senate race between Republican incumbent Mike Rogers and his leftist Muslim Democratic challenger, Abdul El-Sayed.

TOWERY: “What they're doing in Michigan is they're assuming that all Democrats are voting Democrat. And we're not seeing that. We're seeing a certain percentage split off. African-Americans, by the way, you got two groups of African-Americans up there. You've got very devout Christian African-Americans who I don't think are voting for El Sayed. You also have a Black Muslim population who is voting for El-Sayed. Also, there are different Arab groups in Michigan. There are some that don't like the Muslim Brotherhood at all.”

Towery also touched on the U.S. Senate race in Texas between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico.

TOWERY: “The race in Texas is extremely close. If Republicans turn out in presidential year numbers on Election Day, it's not insurmountable. But none of these races are four and five and seven points. Talarico is not leading by something like that. Ken Paxton has had to fight his way back up. Republicans need to close ranks like the Democrats do. Then you'll see a Democratic defeat, and you'll see a Republican senator from Texas.”

Talk show host Joe Pags, who is based in Texas, weighed in as well.

PAGS: “Ken Paxton might be the best attorney general we've ever had in Texas. The things that he's done by suing big tech, by protecting girls and women's sports, by suing Biden and Obama combined about 130 times, we haven't talked about it. We keep talking about Tala-freako. It doesn't make any sense. Let me attack James Talarico, and you go and and give your resume, Ken.”

Unemployment lowest since 1960s & Trump’s inflation rate half of Biden’s

Matt Towery, who has written a newly released book entitled The Honoring of Ignorance: The 7 Mirages Destroying America, expressed his frustration with Republicans who wait too late to get their message out.

TOWERY: “The one thing the Republicans don't do is they don't advertise in May and June and tell people the good news. For example, that unemployment's the lowest it's been since the 1960s, that people have more disposable income, that inflation is half of what it was under Joe Biden under his midterm. If we had run those ads and also an ad explaining why Iran was necessary, I don't think we'd be even looking at close races right now.

“These consultants who run these campaigns want to stack all of their ads at the end when they get lowest unit rate. They don't want to spend the money in May and June to get their candidates' records out. I mean, we should be running ads every week, updating people with the news that NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNow would not let the public see. If we could do that, we wouldn't have the president's approval rating where it is, and we wouldn't be having to fight at the last minute. These Republicans would be blowing the doors off of these candidates because they're terrible candidates.”

He urged people with traditional values to cast their vote on Election Day tomorrow.

TOWERY: “What we have to have are those people in the middle who care about their children and their grandchildren to go out and vote in a big way. Because if they don't, these races, which are close, are going to go to the Democrats.”

3 Biblical principles to guide your vote

And finally, as we look toward Election Day tomorrow, if you have not yet voted, here are three Biblical principles that should guide your choices.

    • Christians are called to stand for righteousness and biblical values.

Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

God cares about the moral direction of a nation. Christians should support leaders and policies that promote righteousness, justice, honesty, and the protection of human dignity. We should not remain silent when we have an opportunity to stand for what is right with our vote, even when the culture stands for something different.

    • Christians are called to be responsible citizens and influence our nation.

Matthew 5:13-14 says, “You are the salt of the Earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.”

Jesus calls believers to be salt and light in this world. We should not withdraw from society, but positively influence it. Voting gives Christians an opportunity to participate in decisions that affect families and communities.

    • Christians are called to protect future generations and advocate for others.

Proverbs 31:8 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

Christians should care about the vulnerable, the babies in the womb, the children, families, the poor, and those who are oppressed. Voting is one way to use our voice to advocate for those who need protection and justice.

Proverbs 29:2 says it best: “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.”

Vote for the righteous. And vote against the wicked.

60 Christians killed in Ethiopia, Africa

At least 60 Orthodox Christians were killed during two recent attacks in Ethiopia, reports International Christian Concern.

According to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s Holy Synod, 14 people were killed on October 20 in the Merti district, and an additional 46 were killed on October 24 in the Shirka district. The church also reported that more than 20 people were seriously wounded and 20 homes were burned down.

Hailu Adugna, a spokesperson for the Oromia regional government, said that he believes the Oromo Liberation Army is responsible for the attacks. He reportedly accused them of trying to provoke ethnic and religious conflict to divert attention from their military losses in the north.

Investigators with the United Nations have accused the group of rapes, kidnappings, and killings. Other entities have documented government forces conducting disappearances, indiscriminate drone strikes, and extrajudicial killings.

The Oromo Liberation Army is part of the Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Alliance for Survival — seven groups that formed in September to oust Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government.

According to Open Doors, Ethiopia, Africa is the 37th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians.

Join me and write a polite 4-sentence note to the Ethiopian Ambassador to America, Binalf Ashenef, urging him to use his influence to protect Christians. Send it to the Ethiopian Embassy, 3506 International Drive NW, Washington, DC 20008.

Alaskan Democrats attempting to defraud voters

The election has gotten crazy in Alaska.

Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan is being challenged by Democrat Mary Peltola and an independent named Dan J. Sullivan.

According to a New York Times investigative article, the independent Dan J. Sullivan was actually recruited by the Democrats to run in order to confuse the Alaskan voters who might think they were actually voting for the Republican incumbent.

At a press availability at Joint Base Andrews on October 28th, President Donald Trump said this.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: “They took a candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against another candidate who's a great senator named Dan Sullivan in order to cheat in the election. They said they didn't do it, and we caught ‘em cold. “Mary Peltola should resign from the race. I think she should be prosecuted criminally for what she did. And I think that the people that participated with her should. “They swore in all statements that they knew nothing about it. … It turned out it was a scheme by the Democrats. That's what they do best. They cheat. They have bad policy, but they cheat. “It's a fraud to the public. … They had a Dan Sullivan running against Senator Dan Sullivan. And they didn’t put Senator in front. So you had two Dan Sullivans. The people aren't going to be able to tell. … It was a plot by the Democrat Party. …

“I think the fake Dan Sullivan, and Mary Peltola should — number one, they should be taken off the ballot. And number two, they should be prosecuted.”

Army General fired over possible leak of classified information

Army Lt. General Brett Sylvia had been abruptly removed from his job as director for strategy, plans and policy on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reports the Washington Post.

The Pentagon said Thursday that it has made a criminal referral in an alleged leak case, claiming the ouster of a top general was necessary “to protect sensitive information.”

The unusual announcement followed reports by The Washington Post that in that role he reported to General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

In a statement on Thursday, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said that the War Department has “zero tolerance for the intentional, unauthorized disclosure of classified information” and that following an “extensive” internal investigation, the matter — “along with others” — had been referred to the Justice Department “for potential legal action.”

Actor Patrick Stewart died at 86

    Do you recognize this voice?

PATRICK STEWART: “But I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, reminds us to cherish every moment, because they'll never come again.”

English actor Patrick Stewart, best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” died on October 28th at the age of 86.

Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”

Stewart died in Los Angeles after having battled Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body Dementia, reports the Associated Press.

Stewart found a connection between his background as a Shakespearean actor and Picard.

In his memoir, he wrote, “There is a formality to the way they speak and comport themselves that remind me of numerous Shakespearean situations I’d been in onstage. I should play Jean Luc, I realized, as if he were a character in ‘Henry IV,’ which is about brave men.”

Stewart enjoyed a prolific stage career that included a one-man rendition of “A Christmas Carol.”

On his Instagram account, which has 1.7 million followers, he recorded all 154 of Shakespeare’s Sonnets.

His inspiration was Sunny, his 48-year-old wife.

STEWART: “The idea of creating an audio edition of Shakespeare sonnets came about somewhat grimly as a result of the COVID pandemic. Sunny asked me how I would feel recording a different sonnet every morning for social media.

“After taking a deep breath, I hesitatingly replied, ‘Doing so could be very nice.’ Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

“I am not much of a social media man, but as we talked, I began to feel Sunny's idea might, in fact, be an unexpected and excellent response to the misery of COVID. And to my astonishment, it was.”

Christian singer Guy Penrod faces health crisis

And finally, Gospel singer Guy Penrod is asking for prayers as he faces a serious health diagnosis, reports The Christian Post.

Penrod appeared on an episode of the "JustWhenever" podcast on October 26th, hosted by his former bandmate Mark Lowry. Both Penrod and Lowry were members of the Gaither Vocal Band, a Christian music group.

LOWRY: “You say you're going through some health issues that we're not going to talk about, but what's God been teaching you through all this?”

PENROD: “Life's short. I repeat James a lot. ‘Life is but a vapor. It's here for a little while and vanishes away.’ [James 4:14]

“Don't hold a grudge. You say, ‘Bitter? Party of one.’"

    LOWRY: (Laughs)

PENROD: “Yeah, you know, we've tried to slow some things down and be intentional.”

LOWRY: “Well, how can people pray for you?”

PENROD: “It's serious. There's only one potential fix for it, and it's a bone marrow transplant. It's blood stuff in the bones. I'm not the guy that likes to hide away, for the most part. You know, the trouble or difficulty that we're going through. I'd just as soon have a team of warriors like you, praying and calling God, and bringing my name up to Him.”

LOWRY: “Well, what if we pray right now and ask the Lord if He would touch and heal our brother Guy?

“Father, thank you so much for Guy Penrod. Thank you for all He has meant to my life all these years. Lord, You know more than the doctors do about his situation, and nothing ever takes You by surprise. Father, will You touch Your son and heal him from the top of his head to the sole of his feet? Lord, would You fix whatever needs to be fixed? Would you guide the doctors' minds? Would You give them supernatural wisdom? Touch Guy, Lord Jesus.”

Join me and send a 3-sentence get well card to Guy Penrod, c/o A to Z Entertainment, 724 Hall of Fame Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee 37915.

James 5:15 declares, “The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.”

18 countries have serious religious freedom violations

Aid to the Church in Need released a new report on Christian persecution.

The report covers 413 million Christians across 18 countries with serious religious freedom violations. Since 2024, conditions for Christians worsened in China, India, Iran, Mali, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, and Syria.

In particular, the presence of Christians in the Middle East is under threat. The report noted, “Conflict also renewed fears among Christian communities about whether their future in the region is sustainable.”

Christian TV channel launches in Muslim-majority Afghanistan

A Christian television channel launched in Afghanistan on Saturday. It’s believed to be the first dedicated Christian channel in the Muslim-majority country.

Mozhda TV is broadcasting the Gospel message to people across the region. They are doing this despite the Taliban’s restrictions on religious freedom.

Masoud Ghorbani is the executive director of Mozhda TV. He said, “Almost everyone has a television and a satellite dish at home. The Taliban control the country, but they cannot control the satellites.”

Ghorbani said the country needs Christ just like the crowds did in Mark 6:34. That verse says, “And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So, He began to teach them many things.”

59 years of baby killing in the United Kingdom

This week marks 59 years since the United Kingdom legalized abortion.

Since 1967, at least 11,256,470 babies have been murdered in the womb in the U.K.

Catherine Robinson with Right To Life UK said, “As we pause to reflect on this tragedy, this day also serves as a call to action for people around the country to renew their efforts to do everything they can to help ensure more lives are saved from abortion in the future.”

Pastor arrested for praying outside D.C.’s Chinese Embassy

Here in the United States, a pastor was arrested after praying outside the Chinese embassy in Washington, D.C.

Pastor Patrick Mahoney is the director of the Christian Defense Coalition. He has protested many times outside the embassy against China’s human rights abuses. This time the Chinese delegation was able to get him arrested on American soil!

The American Center for Law and Justice is defending Pastor Mahoney. You can sign their petition for him through a link in our transcript today at http://theworldview.com/.

Only 33% of Americans trust federal government today

A new survey from Gallup found trust in the federal government reached a record low.

Only a third of U.S. adults trust the executive branch of the federal government, down from 73 percent back in 1972. Trust in the judicial and legislative branches was also significantly down.

In addition, Americans do not trust each other. Fifty-one percent trust the American people, down from 83 percent in 1974. U.S. adults do put more trust in local government. Sixty-seven percent put confidence in their local government, slightly up from 63 percent in 1972.

Anniversary of Christian King Alfred the Great’s death

And finally, this week is the anniversary of the death of Alfred the Great, a Christian king of England.

In his early twenties, Alfred became ruler of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex. He died 1,127 years ago on October 26, 899.

During his reign, Alfred defended the kingdom from invasion by Danish Vikings. He issued a law code based on Biblical law. Alfred also promoted education throughout his kingdom by translating important works from Latin into English.

Historian Philip Schaff wrote, “Amid great physical infirmity . . . [Alfred the Great] developed an extraordinary activity during a reign of twenty-nine years, and left an enduring fame for purity, and piety of character and unselfish devotion to the best interests of his people.”

In 2 Samuel 23:3-4, King David said, “The God of Israel has spoken; the Rock of Israel has said to me: When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God, he dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the Earth.”

The mob would harass girls of Christian families as they walked to church. On one Sunday in August, Ikhlaq Masih confronted the mob to protect a Christian girl. Later, the mob beat him unconscious.

Masih told International Christian Concern most of his wounds have now healed and that he has forgiven his attackers. He said, “My Christian faith was what led me to stand up for that girl and protect my sister in Christ. Despite everything that happened, I pray that God will show them the light and help them understand the wrong they have done.”

In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, “Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” Iran executed over 2,000 people in 2025

The Human Rights Activists News Agency reports Iran executed over 2,000 people in the last year.

That’s up 29 percent compared to the previous year. The number of executions surged as the government cracked down on protests.

The unrest is also affecting Christians in the country. Iran’s Islamist government killed dozens of Christians in recent months. Trump announces that military action against Iran could be coming

Tensions are rising in the Middle East as President Trump signals that renewed military action against Iran could be approaching.

The United States and Israel are reportedly considering strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities, missile programs, and energy infrastructure. Iran has warned that any attack could trigger retaliation against American military installations and civilian infrastructure across the Persian Gulf.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains a top priority.

As election results continue to be known around the world, remember the words of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity." Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program announced

The Trump administration announced a Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program last week.

The $25 million program offers rewards to those who provide the federal government with tips that lead to a successful fraud conviction.

Listen to comments from President Donald Trump.

TRUMP: “So here's what we're going to be doing. Anybody that can prove that he turned somebody in -- in other words, he or she -- if you turn somebody in, and you, let's say, report, and you find a billion dollars, we're giving a commission to that person of one percent. That's a lot of money.” US Senate committee releases report on abortion pill Mifepristone

A U.S. Senate committee released a report on abortion drugs entitled, “Mifepristone Without Guardrails.”

The report found that abortion pill manufacturers have certified over 6,000 pharmacies to dispense the abortion kill pill. Abortion pill sponsors also certified over 8,000 prescribers of the drug. None of them have been decertified despite how they ignore FDA safety protocols.

The report noted, “Chemical abortion drug sponsors profit off killing innocent unborn children. . . . The findings in this investigation demonstrate a consistent pattern of a lack of transparency regarding the operations of mifepristone sponsors.” Churches are feeling economic squeeze

A new report from Lifeway Research found churches are feeling the economic squeeze.

Fifty-four percent of US Protestant pastors say the economy is negatively impacting their church. That’s up from 49 percent last year, but down from 66 percent in 2024.

Although inflation is up this year, giving did not increase proportionally. Thirty-six percent of pastors say giving at their church is up compared to last year. Thirty-seven percent say giving is about the same. And the rest say giving is down or aren’t sure. Retired US school teacher is released from a Russian prison

And finally, Russia released a U.S. citizen from prison last Wednesday.

Seventy-four-year-old Stephen Hubbard is a retired teacher from Michigan. He moved to Ukraine and lived there for years. In 2024, Russia sentenced him on charges of fighting with the Ukrainian military. His family denies the charges.

President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Stephen is on his way back home and will soon be with his family. . . . There was no ‘swap’ necessary for his release.”

Stephen’s son, Rev. Joseph Coleman, recently wrote, “Through these difficult years, prayer and trust in God’s mercy have sustained our family and today we can attest that there are blessings along the hard road to peace.”

Psalm 146:7 says it is God “who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free.” Close

  6. Nigerian government now imprisoning Christians, Parental rights could be at risk with Brazilian election, U. S. home sales currently lowest on record

    Show notes

It’s Tuesday, October 27th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes, carried on 140 radio stations and at TheWorldview.com (www.TheWorldview.com). Filling in for Adam McManus, I’m Kevin Swanson.

Nigerian government now imprisoning Christians The majority of the world’s most severe Christian persecution has centered on Nigerian Christians, come by insurgent groups like Boko Haram and the Fulani. But now, the Nigerian government is imprisoning Christians as well. http://persecution.org/ reports a Christian mother in northeastern Nigeria has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after she shared her faith with a Muslim woman. The same woman testified that she converted to Christianity voluntarily. The prison sentence comes despite the fact the Nigerian constitution guarantees every person freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, as well as the right to change one’s religion. Keep in mind, the nations with the highest number of evangelical Christians in the world are the United States, China, India, Brazil, and Nigeria. These are the battle ground nations when it comes to Christian persecution and political battles.

Attacks on Christians in India and China has increased since 2018 The United Christian Forum reports that attacks on Christians in India has risen to 800 plus per year — an increase 180 percent since 2018. And now, the Chinese Christian churches have experienced a massive increase in persecution since 2018 as well. The Chinese Communist Party introduced more religious regulations in 2018, at which time the Early Rain Covenant Church and Zion Church were targeted. Pastor Wang Yi received a nine-year prison sentence in 2019. Come 2021, the Chinese government intensified pressures on Christians schools and all religious instruction for children. In 2022, new online religious content regulations took effect. The government began concocting fraud charges against Christian pastors for church donations. Then 2023 brought more closures of churches, arbitrary fines, and prosecutions. Last year, more online clergy restrictions kicked in and mass detentions for Zion Church leadership, and longer prison sentences for the Golden Lampstand Church in China. "And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." That's Revelation 12:17.

Election battle in Brazil continues Brazil’s leftist, socialist president is claiming he has won the national presidential election occurring over the weekend. His contender, Flavio Bolsonaro, has yet to concede, largely due to irregularities imposed by the country’s leftist supreme court — namely that the election was extended for two hours in order to collect more votes. Bolsonaro is planning to challenge the election. Lula faces a severe headwind going into these next four years, however. The election also moved the conservative bloc in the nation’s senate from roughly from one third to now holding three fifths of the seats. And, the conservatives now control 54 percent of the lower chamber seats. Parental rights could be at risk with Brazilian election 100,000 homeschooling families in Brazil are hoping for a constitutional amendment that would protect their parental rights. Some homeschooling parents are facing prison sentences at the direction of unfriendly courts. The outcome of the weekend’s election has dashed the hopes of these parents, at least for now. Pray for a miracle! Only 25 percent of Albertans favor secession The tallies are in for that Alberta Canada vote on secession last week. Only 25 percent of Albertans favored secession. However, the majority of voters favored stricter identification for voters, restrictions on welfare for non-permanent immigrants, and more provincial involvement with immigration decisions. Canadians' support of abortion on the rise Canada has been trending left on Social issues. The polling organization Ipsos’snumbers indicate that the percentage of Canadian adults favoring unrestricted abortion has increased from 43 percent in 2010 to 56 percent in 2022. Republicans behind ahead of next week's midterms It’s looking like tough slogging for the Republicans here in the U.S., now, seven days out from the midterms. The Cook Political Report recently surveyed 37 competitive districts, and concluded the Democrats ahead of the Republicans by only 2 percentage points. But these same districts favored Donald Trump in the 2024 elections by an average of five points. Ipsos has put Trump’s approval rating at 31 percent. That’s the lowest since George W. Bush’s low rating back in 2008. Competitive states include Iowa, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maine, Arizona, Virginia, and North Carolina as we approach the midterms next week.

Netanyahu seeking to stay in power next week

Israeli elections are planned for Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to stay in power amidst turmoil in the country, but his political party will most likely have a hard time forming a majority coalition even if he is elected. These elections too are in the hand of God. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” That’s Proverbs 21:1. U. S. home sales currently lowest on record The US economy is in a turmoil. Pending home sales are the lowest on record. Thirty-year mortgage rates hit 7.4 percent this week, the highest since 2001. Unemployment is relatively low, but keep in mind: As of September, the average private-sector worker's inflation-adjusted hourly earnings has declined approximately 0.7 percent over the past year. J.D. Vance leads Nebraska crowd in prayer A woman collapsed during a political rally at Nebraska’s D&N Event Center over the weekend, while the Vice President was speaking. J.D. Vance took the opportunity to lead in the Lord’s Prayer. VANCE: "Well everybody, while they're working on her, maybe those who are of the praying type would join me in a prayer. I always, in moments like this, try to pray as the Lord taught us to pray: 'Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, now and forever. Amen.'" After the medical personnel worked with the elderly woman, the VP told the audience, “Praise God, she’s going to be okay.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, October 27th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Gunman Opens Fire on Church in Jordan

Persecution.org reports that on Friday, gunmen opened fire during a funeral at Hamound Church, a Greek Orthodox Church in Karak governorate, Jordan. At least seven people were killed and 34 others were injured.

Authorities have launched an investigation. Karak has a known minority Christian population.

Footage on Jordanian state television shows three gunmen, two men with pistols and another man with a semiautomatic rifle shooting as the three gunmen move toward the church building.

King Abdullah II stated on X that Jordan will “confront the terrorist act that targeted Karak with the harshest penalties”

He also offered his deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and to those recovering.

Revelation 2:10 and 11 says, ‘...Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’

Christian Group Responds to Ebola Outbreak in the Congo

Christian Today reported that an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has now spread to eight provinces, raising fears that infections could approach 10,000 and deaths could reach 5,000 in the coming weeks.

Christian relief organization Tearfund reports an average of 71 new cases daily. Armed conflict, medical supply shortages, limited clean water, and misinformation are making containment efforts increasingly difficult.

Poppy Anguandia, Tearfund’s Country Director in the Congo, says, “Those saying goodbye to loved ones who have died of this disease need a lot of support, care and understanding as they play a crucial role in preventing further infections”

Anguandia also says that Faith leaders are setting up handwashing stations and modelling good hygiene practices at church and in the community to battle misinformation and the spread of the infection.

Tearfund is partnering with local churches and healthcare workers to provide hygiene supplies, promote disease prevention, and support affected families. Christian leaders are urging churches to continue serving their communities as the outbreak threatens to spread further across the region.

An Illinois School District is Ordered to Lift Restrictions on a Christian After-School Club

An Illinois school district has agreed to lift restrictions on Christian after-school clubs and pay more than $105,000 in legal fees and damages following a federal lawsuit as reported by The Christian Post.

Child Evangelism Fellowship sued the Moline-Coal Valley School District, alleging its Good News Clubs faced discriminatory facility fees and restrictions on distributing literature and participating in school events.

Under the settlement, the district will provide the Christian clubs the same access to school facilities as comparable nonreligious organizations.

Liberty Counsel Chairman Mat Staver called the settlement a victory for religious freedom, stating, “The First Amendment prohibits public schools from discriminating against Christian viewpoints regarding use of school facilities.”

The agreement follows a 2001 Supreme Court ruling protecting religious clubs' access to public school facilities after school hours.

An Evangelistic Association Sees A Big Response in the UK

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is reporting that as it continues its God Loves You Tour. They have seen massive responses in the United Kingdom! At one event in Manchester over ten thousand people attended. Listen to Franklin Graham’s comments when he talked with CBN News.

GRAHAM: “Millions of people are searching and looking for truth. They want to know truth. The internet has left them cold, what they learned in school has left them cold, and they're wanting a relationship with their Maker, their Creator. That's Almighty God. And no one's there, telling them how to do that. They don't know. The mainline churches are closing, and they're all falling into all kinds of other topics, and so they're searching. And so we saw there in Manchester, we had over 10,000 people come. A majority of them were young people, and at the invitation, over 800 of them came forward, to confess their sins, to repent, and by faith, put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ!”

Graham gives all praise to God! He says, “There’s supernatural Holy Spirit-filled power in the gospel of Jesus Christ. When you tell a person that they’re sinners, and they have to repent and put their faith and trust in Christ and Him alone there’s power in that.”

Graham went on to comment on future plans to continue to bring the gospel to the United Kingdom in 2030.

GRAHAM: “We're gonna go back in 2030 for a major event in London, and to have a conference on evangelism for the Common Wealth countries. And we'll invite 54 countries to come, and we'll have a huge event.”

Teacher Performs Positive Affirmations with Students

Finally KSN 3 News in Kansas reports that a teacher at Rex Elementary School in Haysville, Tyler Richards has found a way to make an impact on the kids in his classroom by just ending the day with positive affirmations.

RICHARDS: “Alright, first grade, repeat after me. Say, “I am smart. I am grateful. I am kind. I can do hard things!”

This practice has inspired other classes to start their own affirmation practices to end the day on as well. Principle Shane Paulus says, “It’s a great way for them to feel loved, feel appreciated, know they’re welcomed here and to end the day on a good note before going home”

Richards comments on why this practice is important.

RICHARDS: “I think that it's important that they feel safe and comfortable with us, and I think these are just one of those ways that they feel even more connected with us and know that school's a safe place for them.”

Ephesians 4:29 states, Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for the building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Food Costs Putting Children At Risk of Malnutrition Worldwide

Christian humanitarian organization World Vision warns that rising food prices are putting millions of children at risk of malnutrition, hunger, and long-term developmental problems.

Its latest report examined food affordability in 62 countries, finding that while workers in wealthier nations can purchase basic nutritious food with about an hour's wages, workers in Sudan would need 19 days of earnings to afford the same basket of groceries.

An estimated 35.5 million children worldwide suffered acute malnutrition in 2025, including nearly 10 million severe cases.

Conditions are especially troubling in Sudan, where nearly 19.5 million people face serious food insecurity, and Afghanistan, where more than 4 million children are expected to require malnutrition treatment next year.

World Vision is calling for expanded school meal programs, stronger local food production, and emergency humanitarian assistance.

Deuteronomy 15:11 - For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.

30-year Fixed-rate Mortgage Interest Rate Drops

The benchmark 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 7.32% from 7.40% last week, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday. One year ago, the average rate was 6.19%. Borrowing costs on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, often sought by borrowers refinancing a home loan, also eased this week. That average rate slipped to 6.68% from 6.71% last week. A year ago, it was at 5.44%. U.S. home sales remain stalled this year in large part because of rising mortgage rates, which can add hundreds of dollars a month in costs for borrowers, limiting homebuyers’ purchasing power and prompting many to put off buying a home. The U.S. housing market has been in a slump since 2022, when mortgage rates began to climb from pandemic-era lows. Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes were essentially flat last year, stuck at a 30-year low. In its latest forecast, mortgage buyer Fannie Mae projects that the rate on a 30-year mortgage will average 7.4% in the final quarter of this year, and average 7.5% in 2027.

Actor From The Chosen Endorses Democratic Candidate James Talarico in Texas

ActorJordan Walker Ross, who played the role of Little James in the hit TV series “The Chosen,” has endorsed Democrat radicalJames Talarico in the tightTexas Senate race.

Here is what Ross had to say on a video posted to Facebook last week.

ROSS: "I grew up in Texas, surrounded by faith my entire life, so that's exactly why I'm proud to be supporting James Talarico, and launching “Faithful Texans for Talarico.” You know, a lot of politicians like to talk about Christian values, but you don't really see that reflected in their legislation or the way that they live, but you do see that in the way James lives. He loves his neighbor. He takes care of the needy, the sick, the immigrant, and he shows that in his legislation by bringing Democrats and Republicans together, to take on corporate special interests and lower costs for his neighbors. Our political system isn't working for Texans. It's time for a change. So if you want to join us, please sign up to join “Faithful Texans for Talarico.”

Sadly, James Talarico has endorsed the LGBTQ agenda, the transgender movement, and has called God “non-binary!”

Ross has also had a history of wavering on traditional Christianity, stating “There are gay Christians, trans Christians, straight Christians, liberal Christians, conservative Christians. Stop gatekeeping the Christian faith. It’s not your place to determine whether or not someone is a ‘true Christian.’”

Matthew 7:16-17 reminds us, “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”

Major Fire in Alberta Kills 4 People

A major fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright inAlberta, which subsequently spread to surrounding areas, haskilled at least four people and hospitalized many more, with many in critical condition.

Extremely windy conditions around the time of the fire caused it to escape the base, though the fire is now contained.

Emergency Doctor Warren Thirsk said, “It is more patients than any of us want to count right now. It's a disaster. It's a one in every 15 to 25-year disaster.”

Wainwright Mayor Bruce Pugh mourned the event as a “heavy day,” explaining, “We have neighbours who are either serving or former members of the Canadian Armed Forces. We're integrated, our kids play in the same hockey teams, attend the same schools.” Pugh also acknowledged that this may be the highest casualty event this area has seen.

Bank of America Faces Largest Fine Ever Imposed by the US Treasury Department

Bank of America is facing one of the largest fines ever imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department after allegedly failing to report $5 billion in suspicious transactions, including money linked to Chinese laundering networks, border-related criminal activity, and violations of sanctions against countries such as Russia and Iran.

Meanwhile, a federal banking report identified Bank of America among nine major banks accused of improperly denying financial services to customers based on religious or political beliefs.

Among those affected was Indigenous Advance Ministries, a Christian nonprofit serving orphans and widows in Uganda, whose accounts were closed in 2023 with little explanation.

Republican Congressman Mike Haridopolos criticized the banks for allegedly discriminating against Christian and conservative organizations while failing to adequately police suspicious financial activity. He called for greater transparency and accountability in the banking industry.

Armed Mob Attacks Christian Gathering in India

International Christian Concern reports an armed mobattacked a Christian gathering in India earlier this month.

The Annual Santhali Mega Bible Convention Retreat attracts thousands of Christians in India’s state of West Bengal. A mob of 200 fanatics assaulted Christian attendees with bamboo sticks and bricks on October 9. The attack injured several Christians and forced the convention to end early.

The Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in West Bengal in May of this year. Since then, such anti-Christian incidents have been on the rise.

Christian Legal Centre in England Helps Church Fight For Their Street Preaching Ministry

A church in England isfighting local officials to share the gospel on the streets.

The Colchester City Council put restrictions on the street ministry of Bread of Life Community Church. It amounts to an effective ban on preaching. The Christian Legal Centre is helping the church to challenge the restrictions.

Listen to comments from Andrea Williams with the Christian Legal Centre as well as the church’s pastor, Stephen Clayden.

WILLIAMS: "It's really important that we keep the streets open to the Gospel, because when we keep the streets open to the Gospel, we'll keep the pulpits open to the Gospel, and we'll reach those that need this eternal message of salvation."

CLAYDEN: “They'll come for us in the streets, but then they'll come for us in the pulpits as well. That's why we have to win this case.”

In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”

President Zelensky Reports Ukraine Is Ready for Peace Talks

Yesterday Ukrainian President Zelensky told "FOX & Friends" that he is now willing to end the war and begin peace talks with the current front lines frozen in place -- as long as the U.S. gives security guarantees. Here are some of his comments.

ZELENSKY: “Yes, right now we have to freeze, and I think this is real way to end this war. The most important is peace, and also security peace. This is the most important. Not to be afraid that occupation will come back, aggression will come back, killings will come back. And that's why, freeze and talks... and security guarantees from the United States.”

Zelensky says that freezing the conflict where the lines currently stand is a realistic path to stopping the violence.

UK NHS Backing Down from Transgender Ideology

The United Kingdom’s National Health Service isbacking down from transgender ideology.

New guidance requires hospitals to put patients in wards based on their biological sex, not their so-called “gender identity.”

This guidance is based on a ruling from the U.K. Supreme Court last year. The ruling said that the terms “man” and “woman” in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological sex at birth.

Transgender Accommodations Stay in Place for Inmates

Here in America, transgender activistsscored a victory at the U.S. Supreme Court.

A policy from the Trump administration would prohibit transgender drugs and surgeries for inmates in federal prison. A U.S. district judge in Washington, D.C. blocked the policy earlier this year. The Trump administration filed an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court.

However, the high court ruled against the Trump administration yesterday. This keeps transgender accommodations in place for federal inmates.

ChatGPT Being Used for Religious Questions

OpenAIreleased a report this month on how people use ChatGPT for religious questions.

Over the last year, the AI chatbot received about 70 million requests about religion each week. Forty-five percent of the requests concerned Islam, and 34 percent concerned Christianity.

Nearly half of Christian-related requests were about Bible passages. Another 13 percent were about worship, sermons, or church practices.

The report noted that ministries and faith leaders are increasingly making use of AI.

And finally, today is the anniversary of the death ofSusannah Spurgeon.

Susannah was born on January 15, 1832 and died on October 22, 1903. She married the prominent English Baptist preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, in 1856. They were married for 36 years until Charles’ death in 1892.

The couple had twin sons Charles Jr. and Thomas in 1857. By the late 1860s though, Susannah became chronically ill. Nevertheless, she continued her steadfast support for her husband’s ministry. Susannah also started a Book Fund ministry for needy pastors, sending out over 200,000 volumes by the time of her death.

Susannah’s great-great-granddaughter, Susie Spurgeon Cochrane, wrote of her, “When there were good times, she gave [God] the praise, and when there were trials, she fell on her knees before Him. Again and again she went to the Fountain of Living Water and drank deeply from it. Then, and only then, was she able to do all that she did in her life.”

Jesus said in John 7:37-38, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

    Violence In France Continues

France is experiencing its worst riots in a very long time. Over the weekend, violent groups have set fires, looted businesses, and attacked public buildings in Paris and other cities. Approximately 2,400 people were arrested, and nearly 1,000 police officers were injured. President Emmanuel Macron condemned the violence, while his government blamed radical-left groups and opportunistic criminals for much of the destruction. Almost 10,000 people have been arrested in these riots over the last 2 months. This exceeds the fallout from riots occurring in 2023 and 2005.

Political Split in America Has Never Been Deepening

With the rise of the left, comes the rise of the right as well. The conservative party Le Pens has grown in support from roughly 10% to 30% of the popular vote since 2005. Fox News Digital has identified 54 far left, socialist, communist, Marxist, revolutionary organizations in France and elsewhere across Europe that are organizing the riots and working to destabilize society. The news outlet also reports that an international coalition of 28 communist and socialist youth and organizations are organizing more riots in at least 12 countries across Europe.

Bailey responded that he wanted “to talk about high property taxes [and] high utility costs,” saying the attack was a “perfect example of JB Pritzker being successful by diverting the message.”

David Smith of the Illinois Family Institutewrote that “The hypocrisy is staggering coming from JB Pritzker, who repealed parental notification of abortion, expanded taxpayer funding for abortion, & legalized assisted suicide.”

An Unique Family Reunion For A Young Pilot

GoodNewsNetwork reports a truly unique family reunion. A young Dutch pilot, Zoe, flew a commercial jet alongside her father, Michel, as captain for the first time! The unique family’s work shift came as a surprise, but that’s not the only surprise Zoe’s mother, Marjan, served as stewardess on the same flight. None of the three initially realized their schedules would put them on the same flight.

Zoë grew up watching her father head off to work in his pilot’s uniform, jetting off to far-flung destinations around the world, and it inspired her own love of aviation.

Zoe said it “felt amazing” to finally share the experience of flying with both her parents.

Zoë attended the KLM Flight Academy after being accepted at just 17. She went on to say, “After two years, I graduated and have been so lucky to be able to fly with my dad five times now and once with my mom.”

  12. More than 500 million Christians face restricted access to the Bible, Euthanasia cases in Belgium doubled in last five years, More details emerging from the shooting in Bend, Oregon

It’s Monday, October 19th, A.D. 2026. This is The World View in 5 Minutes written by yours truly and heard at https://www.theworldview.com/. Filling in for Adam McManus, I’m Ean Leppin.

More than 500 million Christians face restricted access to the Bible

Persecution.org reports that The Bible Access Initiative, a collaboration of several ministries, has found that more than 500 million Christians live in nations where access to God’s Word is restricted.

Additionally, the research team discovered that more than 125 million believers live in places where they cannot access Scripture in any format.

The research team identified persecution, poverty, illiteracy, political restrictions, and lack of internet access as some of the main barriers to Bible access for multitudes of Christians.

We echo the request from one International Christian Concern staffer who requests quote, “Please continue to pray for, and support initiatives and projects that increase the supply and availability of God’s precious Word for believers around the world.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us that, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Euthanasia cases in Belgium doubled in last five years

In the country of Belgium, Euthanasia cases have more than doubled in the last five years! ChristianToday.com reported about these new figures.

By law, Belgium’s Federal Commission for the Control and Evaluation of Euthanasia must publish a report every two years documenting instances of assisted dying.

Their most recent data reveals a dramatic surge in assisted deaths, climbing from 2,445 occurrences in 2020—which accounted for 1.9 percent of total national mortality—to 4,487 cases in 2025. This reflects a substantial spike from the 3,991 recorded in 2024 alone.

Since Belgium's original legal authorization of doctor-assisted death in 2002, when merely 235 individuals ended their lives this way, overall deaths from this practice have surpassed 42,000.

Proponents pushing to permit assisted suicide across Great Britain frequently insist that such provisions would remain strictly limited to individuals suffering from terminal conditions.

Yet the evidence out of Belgium demonstrates that numerous citizens opt for state-sanctioned death despite absent terminal diagnoses. Approximately 25 percent of last year’s assisted dying cases—totaling 1,117 individuals—involved patients whose natural life expectancy was not imminent.

This category has expanded remarkably, more than tripling from the 311 non-terminal instances documented back in 2020.

Job 12:10 states that, “In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”

Anthropic announces plans for a Public Benefit Fund

On Sunday, AI company Anthropic announced plans to set aside 5 percent of its shares for a new “Anthropic Public Benefit Fund,” subject to stockholder approval, to support public interest initiatives. Including the new fund, roughly 20 percent of Anthropic’s shares would be dedicated to public purposes, with a 5 percent stake being worth about $48 billion dollars and the commitment potentially increasing as valuation grows. While no specific groups or nonprofits have been named, The Anthropic Public Benefit Fund will support nonprofit donations, direct distributions to specific populations and worker impact efforts. Anthropic did promise that none of the money from this fund would be used for political lobbying or contributions.

More details emerging from the shooting in Bend, Oregon

The investigation into the shooting in Bend, Oregon on Thursday October 15th continues and more details are being revealed. The shooter was John Griffin Jr III, using a pump action shotgun purchased by Griffin’s mother in August. Oregon law prohibits minors from possessing firearms. Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter and father, heard the gunfire while driving home and pursued the gunman into the school and killed him. Oregon Governor Tina Kotek credited Giamanco.

KOTEK: “And to the community member, who heroically intervened to stop further loss of life, your actions carry a heavy emotional burden, and I just want you to know my thoughts are with you as well.”

Police Chief Mike Krantz said the investigation into the motive will take time. No charges have been announced at this time.

Largest private conservation project in the U.S. hits major milestone

As autumn descends upon the Great Plains of North America, the largest private land conservation project in the country is ringing in an inspirational milestone.

The resident herd of relatively free-roaming bison now numbers 4 digits for the first time since the organization’s founding more than 20 years ago.

American Prairie is a conservation nonprofit. The group is quite simply attempting to stitch together the largest contiguously-wild stretch of North American Prairie in the country for the purpose of conservation and recreation.

Stitching together grasslands, water features, ranchland, rolling hills, and woodland, the goal is ultimately to protect, and in some cases rewild, 3.2 million acres.

Yet in the over 20 years that American Prairie has been working, they’ve expanded their reserve to such an extent that if it were declared a National Park, it would rank among the nation’s 10 largest across the lower 48 states.

Myanmar military bombs church, sets another on fire

The Myanmar military sent two junta jet fighters on bombing runs which destroyed a Presbyterian church in Mindat, Chin State at 2:30pm on October 9th, reports Christian Solidarity Worldwide. While no civilian casualties were reported, the church building sustained catastrophic structural destruction.

Then, at 3:30pm on October 12th, soldiers from Myanmar military’s 33rd and 88th Light Infantry Divisions set the Htingnan Kachin Baptist Church on fire. It is located in Banmaw, Kachin State.

These are the latest deliberate attacks on Christian places of worship in Myanmar’s Christian regions.

The destruction of churches serves as a direct retaliatory tactic against the Chin and Kachin revolutionary armed resistance movements, punishing civilian populations belonging to these Christian-majority ethnic groups. In these regions, churches function not only as sacred places of worship, but also as vital community sanctuaries, emergency shelters for displaced civilians, schools, and humanitarian distribution hubs.

Send a polite, 4-sentence note to the Myanmar Ambassador to America, Aung Lynn, urging him to ask the military leaders to stop bombing churches. Address it to the Myanmar Embassy, 2300 S Street NW, Washington, DC 20008.

Is Democratic Rep. Omar guilty of immigration fraud & inflating net worth?

Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota is the target of atleast two federal investigations related to possible immigration fraud and inflation of her net worth by tens of millions of dollars in House disclosure forms, reports the New York Post.

D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed Tuesday on Fox News’ “America Reports” that “there are several investigations going on” related to the Minnesota Democrat, adding that potential civil or criminal immigration violations as well as Omar’s claim of being worth up to $30 million were also under scrutiny.

Sources familiar with the cases disclosed that the Minnesota US Attorney’s Office was leading the probe into alleged immigration fraud, possibly involving false statements about Omar’s birth date, while Pirro’s office in D.C. was taking on the inquiry into the finances of Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett.

Concealing material facts or willfully misrepresenting information on immigration papers could lead to the congresswoman’s denaturalization. It’s unclear whether those alleged crimes occurred on paperwork originally compiled by her father or on subsequent forms such as a passport renewal.

Todd Spodek, a federal criminal defense lawyer, said, “The Constitution requires seven years of citizenship to serve in the House. Denaturalization can operate retroactively, but how that would affect an already-seated member of Congress is largely untested. A criminal conviction alone does not automatically remove a member from office.”

In 2024, Congresswoman Omar astoundingly claimed that she and her husband’s joint assets were valued between $5 million and $30 million, only to file disclosures one year later, claiming between $20,000 and $125,000.

The previously high-valued assets were largely attributable to income reported from her husband’s wine and venture capital businesses, which recorded a meager $200 to $1,000 just last year.

When Vice President J.D. Vance was asked about the Omar investigation on the airport tarmac, he made this comment.

VANCE: “We try to run our Department of Justice in a fair and honest way. We try to let the law follow the facts rather than creating facts just to prosecute people we don't like. And, because of that, I think the president and I largely try to stay out of Department of Justice investigations and other prosecutions.

“I do know that there are some serious allegations against [Congresswoman] Ilhan Omar. We're going to look into those. And again, if there's a real case there, we're going to follow the facts. If there's not a real case there, then we won't.”

And then, appearing on Fox News on October 14th, Vance expressed his incredulity at Congresswoman Omar’s disdain for America.

VANCE: “We have very rarely had a person in Congress who seems to have such disdain and such rage at the country that gave her a better life. Now, that's not a crime, but we're going to see whether she did commit a crime. If she did, we're obviously going to follow the law.”

Execution by firing squad will not be livestreamed

On October 15th, President Donald Trump said the United States will not livestream the December 3rd execution at Fort Hood of the former Army psychologist who was convicted of fatally shooting 13 people at a military base in 2009, reports News Nation,

On Truth Social, President Trump wrote that former U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Hasan “will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed. That said, the execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims, if they so choose.”

In 2009, Hasan opened fire at the Fort Hood base in Texas. He was found guilty in 2013 of 45 counts of premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder, dismissed from the Army, and given the death penalty.

Genesis 9:6 says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image.”

Earlier this month, War Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Pentagon announced that Hasan’s execution would be livestreamed for public viewing. However, the decision was met with pushback from politicians on both sides of the aisle, faith leaders, legal experts and human rights groups.

Anniversary of martyrdom of two English reformers

And finally, today is the anniversary of the martyrdom of two English Reformers.

Their names were Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley. Both were bishops in the Church of England. Ridley was born in 1502, becoming a great scholar and renouncing Roman Catholic doctrine. Latimer was born earlier in 1485. He became a great Reformation preacher, also rejecting Catholic traditions. His preaching brought Protestant teachings effectively to the middle and lower classes.

However, a Catholic queen came to power in England in 1553. She was known as “Bloody Mary” for her deadly persecution of Protestants. After her ascension to power, Latimer and Ridley were tried for their beliefs and tragically burned at the stake on October 16, 1555 – 471 years ago.

As they faced death together, Latimer told his friend, “Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man; we shall this day light such a candle, by God’s grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.”

In Romans 8:36-37, the Apostle Paul wrote, “As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

    24 Christians arrested in Nepal

Authorities in Nepal raided a Christian college and arrested 24 Christians last week.

The Christians are from South Korea. They were participating in a religious program at Nepal New Covenant College. It is the latest incident of Christian persecution in the Hindu-majority country. Nepal has a small but fast-growing population of Christians.

Dipesh Shrestha with the National Christian Federation Nepal told UCA News, “The state is treating every Christian, both local and foreign, as a criminal for sharing, meeting, or talking about their faith.”

In Matthew 10:22, Jesus said, “You will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.”

    Protestant Churches growing in Chile

Protestant churches are growing in the South American country of Chile.

Government records show 82 religious organizations registered with the state from June to August of this year. That means almost one Protestant church is established every day in the historically Roman Catholic country.

Protestants in Chile are also gaining attention in public life. Evangelical Focus noted, “Election campaigns . . . seek dialogue with pastors and evangelical churches, whose . . . commitment to causes such as the defense of life, the family and religious freedom are recognized.”

New UK Evangelicals affirm Resurrection, doubt Biblical inerrancy

Ligonier Ministries released a report on the state of theology in the United Kingdom.

Almost a third of Evangelicals in the U.K. are newcomers to church. The report said, “From a UK perspective, this is noteworthy because it aligns with anecdotal reports from numerous pastors and churches of increased attendance among younger adults, particularly younger men.”

These new Evangelicals affirm core Christian doctrines like the Trinity and the bodily resurrection of Jesus. However, many new Evangelicals also affirmed that God accepts the worship of all religions and that the Bible is not literally true.

Hebrews 13:8-9 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace.”

Greenland will provide America with new energy source

The United States is looking to Greenland for more energy resources.

President Donald Trump said massive oil, gas, and mineral exploration is getting ready to begin in the region. This comes after the United States and Denmark agreed to an increased American military presence in Greenland last month.

Greenland’s government acknowledged exploration efforts by U.S. companies but pushed back on the idea that they were “massive.”

Trump revealed more debanking of conservatives

The Trump administration called out major banks for religious discrimination in a new report.

The report reviewed nearly 100,000 complaints from 2020 to 2025. They involve financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citibank, and Wells Fargo. These banks denied services to Christian, pro-life, and conservative organizations after the Biden administration labeled them as “hate groups.”

Mark Paoletta is the Acting Director of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He said, “It is appalling that these banks targeted American consumers for their political, social, or religious beliefs that did not align with the Biden Administration or its leftist allies.”

Cost of U.S. goods and services increases

The cost of goods and services in the U.S. continued to increase last month.

A report from the Labor Department found that the Consumer Price Index increased 3.7 percent compared to September 2025.

Gasoline accounted for over half of the rise in prices.

Florida hurricane left hundreds of thousands without power

And finally, Hurricane Isaias made landfall in the Florida Panhandle as a Category 2 storm last Friday.

The hurricane brought flooding, destructive winds, and tornadoes to parts of the Southeast. At least six storm-related deaths were reported as of yesterday. Hundreds of thousands of people are without power.

Christian organizations like Samaritan’s Purse are bringing aid to the affected areas. You can give to their disaster relief efforts through a link in our transcript today at http://theworldview.com/.

The ministry stated, “Our staff and volunteers are responding in Jesus’ Name to help hurting homeowners recover after the hurricane. … They are helping to cut felled trees, clear out debris, and share the hope of the Gospel with families reeling from the storm.”

Cuban Communists arrest pastor over prayer event

Communist officials in Cuba arrested a Protestant pastor last month for planning a prayer event.

Pastor Maikel Pupo Velázquez leads the unregistered Sacred Blessing Word of Fire Church. He was detained last year for delivering medicine to the families of political prisoners. He is now in prison himself for trying to organize a public prayer event, reports The Christian Post.

Anna Lee Stangl with Christian Solidarity Worldwide said, “We demand the immediate release of Maikel Pupo Velázquez. … There is no rational justification for the decision … to detain him for simply encouraging others of his faith to pray for Cuba.”

Write a polite, 4-sentence note to the Cuban Ambassador to America, Lianys Rivera, urging her to encourage the government to release Pastor Maikel Velázquez. Send it to the Cuban Embassy, 2630 16th Street NW, Washington DC, 20009.

    Pope Leo has lung cancer

Pope Leo XIV has been diagnosed with lung cancer following a surgical procedure at Rome’s Gemelli University Hospital, reports One America News.

During the operation, surgeons successfully removed the lower lobe of the 71-year-old pontiff’s right lung. However, postoperative laboratory evaluations also confirmed the presence of lung adenocarcinoma, a malignant diagnosis that preoperative tests had previously suspected.

160 million people installed the YouVersion Bible app in 2026

The YouVersion Bible app continues to see growth around the world.

YouVersion added over 160 million new installs across its family of apps in 2026. And daily usage reached a record 18.5 million people.

Zimbabwe saw the most growth in daily Bible usage this year followed by Pakistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Kenya.

Terms like “anxiety” and “hope” were among the most searched in the app. And the most-searched term was “Psalm 91.”

Verse two of that chapter says, “I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’”

Trump lifts sanctions on Russian diesel exports

The United States is lifting sanctions on Russian diesel exports.

The U.S. had been sanctioning energy exports from the country since the Russo-Ukrainian War began in 2022. Now, Russia has agreed to supply millions of tons of diesel fuel to the American and global marketplace in the coming months.

President Donald Trump hopes this will bring prices down. Listen to his comments to reporters.

TRUMP: “I think you heard about the oil deal with Russia. That is a big deal. That is massive amounts of oil coming into our country, and I want to thank [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin, to be honest with you. We have massive amounts of oil coming into our country, and it's diesel, which is what we want.”

Trump’s FDA will address Abortion Kill Pill next March

The Trump administration is sadly pushing off its review of abortion drugs.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration allowed abortion pills to be distributed through the mail under the Biden administration, reports LifeNews.com. Louisiana sued the FDA over still allowing this. Last week, the FDA filed an update in the case, saying it will not complete its abortion pill safety study until March 2027.

Erin Hawley with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “That will be too late for nearly 90,000 unborn babies who will die between now and then by illegally obtained abortion drugs in states like Louisiana that have taken great care to protect babies and mothers from the harms of abortion.”

Fewer Americans think college is important

Fewer Americans now put a big priority on college education.

A new survey from Gallup found that 31 percent of U.S. adults think college is very important. That’s down from 70 percent in 2013. Meanwhile, the percentage of Americans who think college is fairly important or not too important has been steadily growing.

At the same time, college costs have skyrocketed. The average cost of college tuition and fees rose over 80 percent in the last two decades.

    Protestant pastors preach longer sermons

And finally, Protestant pastors are preaching longer sermons, and most churchgoers support it.

A Lifeway Research study found that 80 percent of pastors say their sermons are less than 40 minutes. But a growing share are preaching over 40 minutes and even over 60 minutes.

Most churchgoers are fine with the current length of their pastors’ sermons. But a growing share now prefer longer sermons.

Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research, said, “While much of the individual video content Americans consume today takes less than a minute to watch, the majority of churchgoers prefer sermons of at least a half hour.”

In John 8:31-32, Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

  16. Former Iowa City Councilman prays: “Hail Satan!”; Nigerian Muslims killed 12 Christians; Fewer Americans believe in Virgin birth, Hell, or God

    Nigerian Muslims killed 12 Christians

Truth Nigeria reports that Fulani Muslim jihadists killed 12 Christians, including a 4-year-old child, in two separate attacks in Benue State, Nigeria late last week.

The assailants reportedly moved from house to house, shouting Allahu Akbar, which means the Muslim god is greater, while attacking residents with machetes. Meanwhile, across Nigeria’s Adamawa State, Boko Haram Muslim jihadists were conducting genocide, burning villages, and destroying churches.

One woman, who witnessed the carnage, told Truth Nigeria: “Neither women nor children are spared. They kill the men and kidnap the women for sex slavery. Our only offense is that we are Christians. They came in the night and killed dozens of Christians on October 1st and now even on following days.” Clearly, the need for your prayers right now for the saints in Nigeria is urgent. In the words of Habakkuk 1:2, “O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and You will not hear? Or cry to You ‘Violence!’ and You will not save?” Canada has lost 68,000 jobs

The Canadian economy continues to slump, as the country marked 68,000 lost jobs in the month of September. This is the second straight month in which the country has lost jobs, despite economist predictions of gains in both August and September.

The unemployment rate in Canada now sits at 6.5 percent, and labor force participation is at its lowest rate in nearly 30 years.

Following the news, conservative leader Pierre Poilievre stated, “We will unblock resources, scrap taxes on fuel and reinvestments here at home, remove red tape, and make Canada the best place in the world to hire and boost pay.”

Jair Bolsonaro leads socialist in Brazil’s run-off election

The more “right” candidate for Brazil’s presidency is leading in the polls by six points, as the nation heads into a run-off election scheduled for October 25th.

The AtlasIntel/Bloomberg Poll puts Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, ahead of the incumbent socialist candidate, Lula da Silva.

    Mortgage rates hit 7.5 percent

Here in the United States, 30-year mortgage rates hit 7.5 percent over the weekend.

Rates were this high about 27 years ago.

Fewer Americans believe in Virgin Birth, Hell or God

Only 49 percent of Americans believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, according to a recent report from the American Bible Society’s “State of the Bible.” That’s down from 66 percent in 2017.

Other big take-aways from the report:

    • only 44 percent of Gen Zers believe in Hell, down from 57 percent for the Gen Xers.
    • 74 percent of women believe in God, compared to 62 percent of men.

In 1980, the Gallup poll reported that 90 percent of Americans believed in God.

Psalm 36:1-2 explains it this way. “Concerning the transgression of the wicked: there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes.”

3 GOP states to Supreme Court: Stop abortion “shield” laws

The civil war on the Abortion Kill Pill is heating up between the states.

Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana are heading to the U.S. Supreme Court to challenge the abortion “shield laws” enacted by certain Democratic-controlled states, reports ABC News. These shield laws protect abortion providers in three Democratic states that ship the Abortion Kill Pill over state lines.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is deliberating over whether to impose more regulation on mifepristone and the kill-pill-by-mail program because of safety issues. That decision should be out in March of next year. America delays termination of Temporary Protected Status The United States government is holding off on its plan to terminate Temporary Protected Status for El Salvadoran immigrants.

The New American put the decision in contrast with Trump’s decisions on immigration from other countries. The magazine reported, “So far in Trump’s second term, his administration has terminated or is attempting to terminate Temporary Protected Status designations for 13 countries — Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen — affecting more than one million migrants.”

Temporary Protected Status remains in effect for four countries, namely El Salvador, Lebanon, Sudan, and Ukraine.

    The chaos in government schools

U.S. public schools are still failing.

Recent results for 15-year-old students issued by the Programme for International Student Assessment indicate a 24-point drop in math skills since 2009, and a 14-point drop in reading skills since 2018. But the big issue now is concerning student behavior.

The EdWeek Research Center surveyed 5,800 teachers and found that 35 percent of teachers report a lot worse student behavior this year over last year. Plus, 64 percent of teachers are saying student behavior had worsened over all. This has made the job for teachers “almost impossible,” according to the report.

One sentence summarized the problem this way: “Kicking. Yelling. Throwing school supplies across the room. Physical violence.”

Chaos in the classroom. That is reportedly an everyday occurrence for American government schools.

Former Iowa City Councilman prays: “Hail Satan!”

And finally, this from Ottumwa, Iowa, with a population of 25,000, where a former city council member, Matt Dalbey, led off the council meeting on October 6th with a Satanic prayer.

DALBEY: “Let us pray, dear Dark Father. Let us stand now unbowed and unfettered by arcane doctrines born of fearful minds in darkened times. Let us embrace the Luciferian impulse to eat of the tree of knowledge, and dissipate our blissful and comforting delusions of old.

“Let us demand that individuals be judged for their concrete actions, not their fealty to arbitrary social norms and illusory categorizations. Let us reason our solutions with agnosticism in all things, holding fast only to that which is demonstrably true.

“Let us stand firm against any and all arbitrary authority that threatens the personal sovereignty of one or all. That which will not bend must break, and that which can be destroyed by truth should never be spared its demise. It is done. Hail Satan!”

This prayer to Satan comes after the Ottumwa, Iowa City Council issued a new “diversity” policy. It said, “This policy is intended to acknowledge and express the City Council's respect for the diversity of both organized and unorganized religious denominations, as well as other faiths, belief systems, or the lack thereof.”

Thankfully, after the Pledge of Allegiance, Pastor Rick Bick of New Life Center objected, reports the Washington Stand. Outraged by the prayer to Satan, Pastor Bick eschewed proper decorum, walked up to the same podium where the Satanic prayer had just occurred, and demanded that the city council reverse that curse. Sadly, Councilwoman Cara Galloway interrupted him.

PASTOR BICK: “Let's just reverse that curse that was just put on our city. That ending with ‘Hail, Satan’ and ‘Hail, Dark God.’ That's not welcome here.”

    COUNCILWOMAN CARA GALLOWAY: “Mayor.”

    MAYOR BENJAMIN FOOTE: “Yeah.”

COUNCILWOMAN GALLOWAY: “This should be done at the end.”

PASTOR BICK: “It needs to be done now. Okay? That was a curse put on our city when you said, 'Hail Satan' and 'O Dark God.’ Most of you know that, and we need to just stop and reverse it.”

According to the Christian Post, Ottumwa Iowa Mayor Benjamin Foote, a Bible-believing Christian, said he was “shocked” by the invocation to Satan. In response to Pastor Bick’s request, Mayor Foote said this.

MAYOR FOOTE: “I'm going to invite us into a 30-second time of prayer. Or time of silence. A time of silence.”

COUNCILWOMAN GALLOWAY: “No, I, we are at the consent agenda. I'm sorry, but it's time to move forward.”

MAYOR FOOTE: “So, as mayor of the city of Ottumwa, as mayor of the city of Ottumwa, and the one running the meeting, I'm going to ask right now that we do a moment of silence to reflect on whatever it is we need to reflect on at this time, and then we will move to the consent agenda. So, with that, we'll go into a moment of silence.”

(You can watch Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council, interview Pastor Rick Bick for 7 minutes on Washington Watch heard on 800 radio stations).

In a subsequent interview with The Christian Post, Mayor Foote said, “I am a born-again Christian, a prayer warrior, and place all my faith in Jesus Christ. Personally, I of course do not believe or condone worship to Satan or any other god, but to the one true God Almighty. … My prayer is that this will be used by God to awaken the Church in Ottumwa and we will fight against the evil that is constantly trying to destroy us.”

Indeed, Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Councilman Bill Hoffman Jr. confirmed that the invocation was approved under city policy but said the mayor and council members “are not aware of the content beforehand.” The entire policy is now under review.

Join me and send a polite, 4-sentence note of encouragement to Mayor Benjamin Foote, City of Ottumwa, 303 East Main Street, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.

Imprisoned Chinese Pastor Wang Yi has advanced liver cancer

The Chinese Communists imprisoned Early Rain Covenant Church Pastor Wang Yi in southwestern China. Today, he may be suffering from advanced liver cancer, reports ChinaAid.

Yi has been imprisoned since December 2018. He was sentenced in December 2019 to nine years in prison on trumped up Communist charges of “inciting subversion of state power” and “illegal business operations.” He is currently held at the Jintang Prison.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom currently lists Wang as a religious prisoner of conscience and has recorded reports of medical neglect in his case.

Since October 2021, when his wife was allowed her first meeting with Yi in three years of imprisonment, meaningful family access since then has remained severely restricted.

ChinaAid Founder and President Rev. Bob Fu called for immediate access to Wang. He said, “The world is watching. Pastor Wang Yi must not be allowed to die behind prison walls in secrecy. His family deserves to see him, to know his true medical condition, and to be involved in decisions concerning his treatment.”

Leviticus 19:32, says, “You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God."

Wang is approaching the final portion of his nine-year sentence, which is expected to conclude in 2027.

Send a polite, 4-sentence note to the Chinese Ambassador to America, Xie Feng, urging him to tell Chinese President Xi Jinping to release Pastor Wang Yi. Send your letter to the Chinese Embassy, 3505 International Place NW, Washington, DC 20008.

Iran-backed Houthis fire missile at Saudi Arabian airport

The international airport in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, was attacked on Saturday by a missile which struck terminals 3 and 4 for domestic flights, wounding many people, reports the Associated Press.

Earlier in the week, in this new front in the Iran war, the Houthis, a terrorist group backed by Iran, claimed attacks on the airport that killed three Saudis, including a pilot.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he was evaluating whether the United States should join Saudi Arabia with strikes against the Tehran-backed Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen.

Four killed by Hurricane Isaias in Florida

Four people were killed on October 9th afterdeadly Hurricane Isaias hit the southeast “like a freight train” as the Category 2 storm’s 105 mile-per-hour winds blew through Destin, Florida, at around 9:30 p.m. ET. Localized gusts reached 116 miles per hour.

Three people died from downed trees, while another was killed by fumes from a generator. At least five others have been hospitalized.

8 killed in Pennsylvania home by gunman

On the same day, man-made tragedy struck Erie, Pennsylvania.

On October 9th, eight people were shot dead including two young children and a woman who was eight months pregnant, reports Fox News.

Plus, the suspected shooter, a 45-year-old man who was related to the victims, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The motive of the gunman is as yet unknown.

Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah said, “It was horrific. It was the worst scene I have ever experienced," reports ABC News.

And Pennsylvania Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro said, “My heart breaks for this family. Lori and I are praying for their loved ones and the entire Erie community.”

Justice Alito upset with Obergefell which legalized “gay” marriage

A new collection of remarks by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito highlights the conservative jurist’s conviction that the forced redefinition of marriage, to include homosexual couples, marked “perhaps the decisive point in our nation’s turn against religious liberty,” reports LifeSiteNews.com.

In his new book entitled So Ordered: An Originalist’s View of the Constitution, the Court, and Our Country, ABC News noted that he addressed the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling. This was the 2015 case in which the nation’s highest court forced all 50 states to recognize faux homosexual marriages. Alito was among the dissenters, along with Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Clarence Thomas.

In a 2018 speech, the Catholic justice, appointed by former President George W. Bush, said, “My worry [is] that equating the expression of certain views with bigotry — or, if you like, with dignitary harm — would drive believers out of public life.”

Then, in a 2022 speech, Alito argued his fears have since been vindicated.

Citing various attempts to force private businesses to serve homosexual so-called “weddings” or where Christian groups were denied religious exemptions to health and employment mandates pertaining to homosexuality, he said, “Quite suddenly, religious liberty has become controversial. What we see in these and other cases is a refusal to live in peace with those who violate the new moral code.”

In 2021, Alito noted that Americans opposed to homosexual faux marriage found themselves “so beaten down that they were ‘a people who shunned the light of day.’ They were ‘found in corners, and alleys, and cellars, and the housetops, or in the recesses of the country.’”

Sadly, Justice Alito said he thinks overturning Obergefell is unlikely.

ABC stressed that the religious parties ultimately prevailed in “nearly all” of the cases Alito cites, but that has not slowed the persistence of such challenges. For example, Colorado baker Jack Phillips, a Christian, won a 2018 Supreme Court case over his right to refuse to create homosexual “wedding” cakes, yet was dragged back to court years later over demands to create a “transgender” cake.

Even if the Supreme Court reversed Obergefell, recognition of homosexual faux marriage would still be mandatory nationwide, thanks to former President Joe Biden signing the so-called “Respect for Marriage Act,” which codified Obergefell in 2023.

Thirty-two states still have duly enacted bans on homosexual faux marriage. Unfortunately, those bans have been blocked from enforcement since Obergefell.

Kentucky abortions dropped from 4,441 to just 5 annually

And finally, ready for some good news?

Kentucky has seriously protected unborn babies from abortion.

Back in 2022, Kentucky abortionists killed 4,441 babies in the womb. By contrast, in 2025, just five brick-and-mortar abortions were reported in Kentucky by the state’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, reports LifeNews.com.

After Roe v. Wadewas overturned on June 24, 2022, the state prohibited abortion from conception on the very same day. The law was then blocked on June 30, but went back into effect later that summer on August 1 and has remained in effect since.

The state’s life-at-conception law only allows abortion in cases where a continued pregnancy would threaten the life and/or physical health of the mother. All 5 brick-and-mortar abortions reported by the state were performed because of these exceptions.

Due to Kentucky’s law prohibiting elective abortions, no abortions were performed at Planned Parenthood abortion mills in Kentucky or independent abortion mills. All five abortions were performed at hospitals.

In Psalm 139:13-14, David told God, "For You formed my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well."

  18. Christian TV preacher Jim Bakker died at 86; Increased GOP voter registration might save the midterm election; South Korea’s troubled election and Christian persecution

    By Adam McManus

South Korea’s troubled election and Christian persecution

    Something stinks in South Korea.

After the suspicious election of Lee Myung as South Korea’s new president on June 3, 2025 in which there was a drastic shortage of paper ballots, which some have claimed mounts to election fraud, there has been ample evidence of growing hostility to Christianity.

For example, South Korean authorities detained six Americans on June 27, 2025 after they attempted to send 1,600 plastic bottles containing miniature Bibles into North Korea by sea, reported International Christian Concern. The Americans were investigated because they allegedly violated the law on disaster management when they reportedly threw the bottles, which also included USB sticks, money, and rice, into the sea, hoping North Koreans would eventually find them washed up on their shore.

Then, South Korean Pastor Son Hyun-bo of Segero Church in Busan was arrested on September 8, 2025 for interviewing a Christian School Superintendent candidate, Jeong Seung-yoon, during a church service and uploading a video of the conversation to social media. The Christian was running against a South Korean government candidate who supported sexual perversion in the school curriculum. For that, Pastor Hyun-bo was jailed for 145 days, without conviction, as he underscored the need for Christians to vote their Biblical convictions.

In a CBN report, the South Korean pastor expressed alarm at what the government is doing.

HYUN-BO: “When the left-wing government came into power, freedom of religion is being suppressed. There is an amendment to the civil code that has been proposed that states: ‘If there are religious speech or beliefs related to politics, the government will be granted the power to disband or dissolve the church and revoke the permit of the church.’

“Investigations and inspections can be conducted without warrant, and assets and properties of the church can be transferred to the government.”

2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

Plus, since June 2026, Morse Tan, the former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large during President Trump’s first term, is being detained in South Korea by Lee Myung’s administration, unable to return home to the States. Tan is scheduled to face trial in South Korea on October 16th.

He is being detained because, while on American soil, he claimed that there was election fraud in the June 3, 2025 South Korean presidential election. Parenthetically, Tan has a young family and is dean of the Liberty University Law School in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Sam Brownback, who served as Ambassador-at-Large for Religious Freedom, has urged President Donald Trump to intervene on behalf of Morse Tan, reports Metro Voice News.

Write a polite, 4-sentence note to the South Korean Ambassador to America, Kang Kyung-wha, asking that she urge President Lee Myung to release Morse Tan and stop persecuting South Korean Christians. Send it to the South Korean Embassy, 2450 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20008.

Increased GOP voter registration might save the midterm election

The political pundits seem to believe that the Republicans are doomed going into the November 3rd election and likely to lose both the House and the Senate.

And it’s easy to see why: Between the deeply polarizing Iran War, an economy that’s still struggling to find its footing, and whatever toxic fallout remains from the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, conservatives are about as split as they’ve ever been over the last decade. Only it may not be the slam dunk that Democrats are hoping for, reports the Western Journal.

Much of the polling, such as that from RealClear Polling, still demonstrably favors the blue party in the midterm election. If you’re a GOP voter, there is still ample reason to get out and vote.

But according to CNN’s data guru, Harry Enten, the GOP can hang their hats on at least one thing: voter registration.

ENTEN: “You can see in the key swing states that we normally look at in presidential elections that the Republicans are gaining versus where they were eight years ago during Trump's first midterm election.

“Take a look here: GOP gains in party registration margin versus Election Day 2018. In Arizona, the Republican margin versus a Democrat: Republicans are up four points. How about Nevada? Republicans up five points. How about North Carolina? Republicans up eight points. How about the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania? Republicans up seven points.

“So, when you take a look at how people are registering, this is not polling data, compared to where we were eight years ago, Republicans are doing considerably better in what are the swing states at least normally in presidential elections.”

Compare that to their Democratic counterparts, who have seen zero gains in those four states since 2024.

Christian TV preacher Jim Bakker died at 86

    And finally,

THE PTL CLUB ANNOUNCER: “The PTL Television Network presents Jim and Tammy.”

THE PTL SINGERS: “Praise the Lord. See the things that He has done. Praise the Lord for the battle has been won.”

THE PTL CLUB ANNOUNCER: “Come on now, let's have a great big welcome for Jim and Tammy Bakker.”

JIM BAKKER: “Hello. Welcome to Heritage USA. It's nice to have you here.”

That was the introduction to The PTL Club back in 1986, hosted by Jim Bakker and his wife Tammy Faye. After debuting in 1974, it became the highest rated religious show in the country.

On October 5th, Jim Bakker died at the age of 86.

While hosting the Christian television show and founding Heritage USA, a Christian-themed waterpark in Fort Mill, South Carolina, he fell from grace.

In March 1987, Bakker resigned from the PTL ministry over a cover-up of $279,000 of hush money to church secretary Jessica Hahn for an alleged rape.

Plus, Bakker and his PTL associates sold $1,000 "lifetime memberships", entitling buyers to an annual three-night stay at a luxury hotel at Heritage USA, reported the New York Times. According to the prosecution at Bakker's fraud trial, tens of thousands of memberships were sold but only one 500-room hotel was ever finished, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Bakker sold "exclusive partnerships" which exceeded capacity, raising more than twice the money needed to build the hotel. Much of the money paid Heritage USA's operating expenses, and Bakker allegedly kept $3.4 million.

1 Timothy 3:1-3 says, “Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.”

Convicted of fraud and conspiracy in 1989, he served nearly five years in prison before being paroled in 1994.

According to the Christian Post, Rev. Franklin Graham, head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, posted a statementon X, saying he was “saddened” by Bakker's death.

Graham wrote, “Jim was responsible for giving Samaritan’s Purse our first major television exposure, and I will be forever grateful for his support and help. He showcased many ministries on his program and introduced numerous preachers of the Gospel to a much broader audience.”

Harold Hunter, chairman of the board of regents at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Evansville, Indiana, took to Facebook to respond to Bakker's death.

Hunter wrote, “To me, the major reason for the fall of Jim Bakker is prevalent in the fall of many ministries and churches. His Board of Directors was packed with celebrity preachers, evangelists, etc., who were very experienced in their various callings but woefully lacking in good business organizational skills and solid financial acumen.”

And Pastor Jeremiah Johnson of The Altar Church wrote on Facebook, “As I’ve read headlines describing [Jim Bakker] primarily by his disgrace, my heart has been grieved. Accountability matters. Sin has consequences. Repentance does not rewrite history. But neither should failure erase redemption.”

Johnson added, “After prison, Jim rebuilt his life and eventually returned to Christian television and ministry. I knew him in those later years. I encountered a man who had been through the fire, carried the scars of his story, and was still preaching Jesus.”

3-year anniversary of Hamas’ attack on Israel

Yesterday marked three years since Hamas Muslim terrorists attacked Israel.

Hamas launched the attack from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on October 7, 2023. The Islamic militants killed about 1,200 people and took over 250 hostages. Over 80 of the hostages did not survive. The last living hostages were returned last October after 843 days of captivity.

Since the attack, Israel has carried out bombardments and ground operations in Gaza. At least 74,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in the conflict.

Israeli air strike killed 2 Palestinian Christians

An Israeli air strike struck an apartment building in Gaza City on Saturday, killing two Palestinian Christian women.

The women had served at a shelter affiliated with Holy Family Catholic Church. It’s the only Catholic parish in Gaza.

The leader of the parish stated, “We have had 62 deaths: 62 Catholic and Orthodox Christians who have died in this war. Of those 62 people, 25 have died violent deaths from bombardments or army snipers, and the majority died where they had taken refuge here, at Holy Family Church.”

American churches fight for free speech in pulpit

Here in the United States, churches and Christian organizations are fighting for free speech in the pulpit.

The National Religious Broadcasters, Intercessors for America, and two Texas churches are challenging the Johnson Amendment. While he was a U.S. Democratic senator from Texas, Lyndon B. Johnson introduced the provision in 1954 before he became president. The law prohibits 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, including houses of worship, from endorsing or opposing political candidates.

Troy Miller with the National Religious Broadcasters spoke to CBN News about the case.

    Listen.

MILLER: “This was the original intent of separation of church and state -- that the government was not going to interfere with religious conscience, with the will of pastors and church leadership. And so we think this law, this amendment that [Senator Lyndon] Johnson put in place, quite honestly, to silence churches and other 501(c)3 opposition that he had during his Senate campaign, we think it needs to go.”

Psalm 119:46 says, “I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.”

U.S. trade deficit surged to $105 billion

The U.S. trade deficit surged in August to $105.6 billion.

That’s up from $79.8 billion in November 2024 before President Donald Trump began his second term.

Christopher Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS, told Reuters, “Trade tariffs have done nothing to reduce America's reliance on the import of foreign-produced goods. The cost of American labor is simply too high to produce goods here cheap enough for consumers to even think about purchasing.”

    100th city to ban abortion

Snyder, Texas recently became the 100th city in the U.S. to ban abortion.

Officials unanimously adopted a Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance on Monday.

Mayor Pro-Tem Sarah Jamison said, “I was proud to cast my vote in support of this ordinance and of Snyder becoming the 100th city in the nation to take this stand. As council members, we have a responsibility to act within the authority given to our city and to consider lawful safeguards that protect the most vulnerable among us.”

Young Evangelicals more conservative than religious peers

Young Evangelicals are more religious and conservative than young people in other religious traditions.

This is based on analysis of Pew Research data recently published by Professor Ryan Burge with Washington University.

The analysis found that 49 percent of Gen Z Evangelicals attend church weekly. That number fell to 22 percent among Mainline Protestant youths. And it was only 20 percent among Catholic young people.

Similarly, young Evangelicals were more conservative. Forty-six percent identified as politically conservative compared to 28 percent of Mainline youth, and 17 percent of Catholic youth.

Prison Fellowship celebrates 50 years of ministry

And finally, this year marks 50 years of ministry by Prison Fellowship.

Charles “Chuck” Colson founded the organization in 1976 to serve people affected by incarceration.

Colson himself had been incarcerated for Watergate-related charges during President Richard Nixon’s administration. Colson experienced a mid-life conversion to Christianity which led to his work in prison ministry, captured in his page-turning books Born Again and Life Sentence.

The U.S. Senate passed a resolution last month, honoring the impact of Prison Fellowship.

Heather Rice-Minus, the President of Prison Fellowship, said, “What began with Chuck Colson’s transformation became a movement of individuals who believe no one is beyond God’s reach.”

In Luke 15:10, Jesus said, “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Murders of Nigerians Christians leads to curfew

Officials in Nigeria imposed a curfew after more Christians were killed last month.

Pastor Samuel Nandi was killed on his way to church on Sunday, September 20. This occurred in the country’s central Plateau State. In addition, Gunfire and attacks were reported across the region during the week leading up to the pastor’s death. International Christian Concern documents at least 27 Christians were killed in the attacks.

The government responded by imposing a dusk-to-dawn curfew in parts of the state until security agencies could bring stability. Nigeria is ranked 7th on the Open Doors’ World Watch List of the most dangerous countries to be a Christian.

Christian radio station reaches believers in N Korea, China, Russia

Far East Broadcasting Company-Korea is celebrating 70 years of Christian radio ministry, reports Christian Daily Korea.

The network is based in South Korea. It reaches underground believers across North Korea, China, Russia, and Mongolia. For example, North Korean Christians secretly listen to sermons and hymns on radios with “blankets pulled over their heads.”

Far East Broadcasting Company-Korea first aired on December 23, 1956 from Incheon, South Korea. Now, it operates 15 radio stations and 14 relay stations across the country.

G7 countries tap oil reserves to lower gas prices

The United States and its allies are tapping into their oil and fuel reserves to combat soaring gas prices.

Member countries in the Group of Seven made the announcement on Friday. Those nations include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

G7 countries agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil reserves over the next four months. Oil prices started to fall after the decision.

War Secretary Hegseth announced Office of Religious Affairs

Here in the United States, War Secretary Pete Hegseth gave his “State of the Force” address last Wednesday.

Hegseth announced the creation of the Office of Religious Affairs. The office will support the spiritual health of military personnel.

    Listen.

HEGSETH: “Our national motto is, after all, ‘In God We Trust.’ Today we reaffirm that trust. We're placing spiritual health at the same level as physical health. Our department is, you might say, putting on the full armor of God, because while we wage physical war, we all know the real battle is spiritual. God is good, evil is not, and America's military must understand the difference.”

Hegseth quoted Psalm 33:12 in the address. That verse says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.”

Treasury Dept. saved $175 million by cutting off the dead

Fox News reports the U.S. Treasury Department saved millions of taxpayer dollars during the fiscal year 2026.

The department blocked $175 million in federal payments that would have gone to deceased recipients. This is part of the Trump administration’s effort to screen for improper payments.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, “In the past year alone, Treasury built and deployed new safeguards that verified more than $3.7 trillion in federal payments and increased Do Not Pay access from 4 percent of programs to 99 percent, ensuring agencies have access to the data they need.”

Pro-life pregnancy center moves into former Planned Parenthood

And finally, a pro-life pregnancy center in Gainesville, Florida is celebrating its expansion into a former Planned Parenthood building.

SIRA, the faith-based pregnancy center, operated next to the abortion facility. The Planned Parenthood location closed in June. And SIRA purchased the property last month, reports Main Street Daily News.

Executive Director Kathy Gratto said, “God always has a plan. We have hopes and desires and missions and goals. We pray, and we wait, and in the waiting, our faith grows, and God continues to reveal Himself. And as you can see, He’s still the God of miracles.”

Psalm 37:34 says, “Wait on the LORD, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.”
