  1. Episodes 3: 17–0! Are Jets Fans Allowed to Have Hope Now?

    Season 1, Episode 3

    Show notes

The New York Jets just gave us something we haven’t seen enough of: a clean, dominant win.

In Episode 3 of Trauma Bonding With The NY Jets, BK Badass breaks down the Jets’ 17–0 preseason shutout of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the five biggest takeaways from the night.

Geno Smith made his preseason debut and couldn’t have been much sharper—7-for-7, 65 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive. Meanwhile, the Jets defense pitched a shutout, forced two interceptions and continued showing signs that Aaron Glenn’s identity is beginning to take hold. (New York Jets)

    We get into:

    • Geno’s nearly flawless return in a Jets uniform
    • Why this defense could be nasty
    • The young players forcing their way into the conversation
    • What we’re learning about the Jets’ quarterback depth
    • And the biggest question of all: Are Jets fans actually allowed to have hope again?

    It’s preseason. Nobody’s planning a parade.

But after years of trauma bonding with this franchise… 17–0 feels pretty damn good.

  2. Episode 2: How the Hell Do You Become a Jets Fan… and Stay One?

    Season 1, Episode 2

    Show notes

In Episode 2 of Trauma Bonding with the New York Jets, I answer a question that probably requires therapy to fully explain:

How the hell did I become a Jets fan?

My story starts in 1996 — Neil O’Donnell’s first season in New York and the year the Jets finished an absolutely brutal 1–15.

I grew up in Brooklyn. The Giants had won two Super Bowls within the previous decade. They even beat the Jets 13–6 that season.

I had every opportunity to choose differently.

    I chose the Jets anyway.

We’re going back to where my Jets trauma began: the 1996 disaster, Neil O’Donnell, losing to the Giants, Bill Parcells arriving in 1997, and how nearly 30 years of pain, hope, false hope, heartbreak, and completely unreasonable loyalty followed.

No bandwagon. There wasn’t one to jump on.

This is my Jets origin story.

Jets football is back, and so is the trauma. In Episode 1, I break down the Jets’ first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — what I liked, what pissed me off, who stood out, and what Jets fans should actually take away from the game.
