War of the Worlds - Restored
Show notes
This restoration of Orson Welles' famous 1938 radio drama uses AI tools to reduce noise and restore vocal fidelity. This broadcast, perhaps the most famous radio drama in history, transformed H.G. Wells' novel of alien invasion into a series of live news reports. The broadcast started a panic as many listeners believed the realistic sounding reports to be real.
While recordings of the broadcast have been freely available for decades, they have suffered from the noise and static evident on the original transcription discs. This restoration removes much of the noice and increased vocal fidelity, while leaving period sound effects and music intact.
