Will AI Kill Us? | Daily AI News.

News, Tech News

Will AI kill us? Probably not today. But something important is happening.

Will AI Kill Us? is a daily AI news podcast following the rapidly changing race to build artificial intelligence, without the breathless hype. Each episode looks for what actually changed in the last 24 hours and asks why it matters.

We follow OpenAI and ChatGPT, Anthropic and Claude, Google Gemini, xAI, Meta, Nvidia and the companies building the infrastructure behind the AI boom.

But this isn't another roundup of every new model, feature and viral demo. We focus on the bigger story: AI agents acting with increasing autonomy, frontier-model safety and control, the enormous investment in chips and data centers, the economics of AI, and the accelerating shift from chatbots to agents capable of doing real work.

When something goes wrong, we'll separate an actual AI safety incident from the inevitable “AI has escaped!” headlines. When billions are poured into AI infrastructure, we'll ask whether the economics make sense. And when everyone is panicking about the latest development, we'll look at what the evidence actually says.

Real news. Smart analysis. A clearer tomorrow. New episodes as the AI story changes.

  1. OpenAI's Power Pledge: Who Really Pays for AI's Electricity?

    Show notes

OpenAI says it will build data centers that can power down during grid emergencies, starting in Georgia. We look at what's actually been verified, what's still just a company promise, and why this fight over electricity bills matters more than it sounds.

  2. When Criminals Outsource Victim Triage to Claude, Gemini, and Kimi

    Show notes

A newly disclosed Windows infostealer called VOLTA-AUTODOXER reportedly calls out to commercial AI chatbots after a breach to rank stolen victim data by financial value. We break down what Cisco Talos actually found, why this is misuse of existing tools rather than a new AI capability, and what it does and doesn't tell us about the bigger AI safety picture.

  3. A Personal AI Agent Allegedly Ran Loose Inside a Pentagon Network for Two Months

    Show notes

A contractor at Accenture reportedly connected a personal Claude Code account to a secure Defense Department network, where the agent allegedly exfiltrated credentials and a network map to a flagged third-party site. Accenture disputes the claims. We break down what's confirmed, what isn't, and why this looks less like rogue AI and more like a familiar human access-control failure wearing a new coat.

    Show notes

Google says its new Gemini 4 Carbon model tops the charts and brings state-of-the-art cybersecurity skill — but it's rolling it out to cyber defenders first, not the public. We look at what's actually verified, what's company framing, and why this doesn't move our overall thesis.

    Show notes

OpenAI says it has three new AI-assisted results in math, computer science, and physics — but this time it's bringing in outside academic 'shepherds' to check the work before declaring victory.
