King Hezekiah & the Visitors from Babylon | Bible Story for Kids
Season 1, Episode 88
Show notes
Why did King Hezekiah show visitors from Babylon all his treasures? And what warning did God send through the prophet Isaiah?
In this Old Testament Bible story for kids, King Hezekiah receives visitors from the distant kingdom of Babylon after recovering from his terrible illness.
The Babylonian king, Merodach-baladan, sends letters and a gift to Hezekiah. Hezekiah welcomes the visitors and shows them his silver, gold, precious spices, armoury, and everything stored in his kingdom.
But the Bible also tells us that Hezekiah's heart had become proud.
After the visitors leave, the prophet Isaiah comes to Hezekiah with a serious message from the LORD. One day, the treasures of Judah will be carried away to Babylon, and some of Hezekiah's own descendants will be taken there.
What does this warning mean for the future of Jerusalem? And what can we learn from Hezekiah's mistake?
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we discover why pride is dangerous, why God's kindness should lead us to thankfulness, and how God knows what lies ahead.
Bible passages: 2 Kings 20:12–19; Isaiah 39:1–8; 2 Chronicles 32:25–31
Today's lesson: Even those who have faithfully followed God can become proud. God's blessings should lead us to humility and thankfulness, not pride.

The Fall of Israel | Why Did God Allow Assyria to Conquer Israel? | Bible Story for Kids
Season 1, Episode 84
Show notes
Why did the kingdom of Israel fall to Assyria?
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we discover the story of Israel's last king, Hoshea, the fall of Samaria, and the end of the northern kingdom of Israel in 2 Kings 17.
King Hoshea had been serving the powerful king of Assyria and paying him tribute. But Hoshea secretly turned to Egypt for help and stopped paying Assyria. The Assyrian king discovered his rebellion, captured Hoshea, and invaded Israel.
But the Bible tells us about a much deeper rebellion.
For generations, Israel had turned away from the Lord. They worshipped false gods, rejected God's commands, and refused to listen even though God patiently sent prophets to warn them and call them back.
Eventually, the Assyrian army surrounded Samaria. After three years, the city fell, and many Israelites were carried away.
But this did not mean that Assyria was more powerful than God. God had warned Israel again and again about what would happen if they continued to reject Him.
In this Bible story for kids, children will learn about King Hoshea, the Assyrian Empire, the fall of Samaria, why the northern kingdom of Israel fell, God's patience, God's warnings, and why God's Word can always be trusted.
Bible passage: 2 Kings 17
God had been patient with His people, but His warnings were real.
God always keeps His Word.

Unlike his father Jotham, Ahaz does not follow the Lord. When the kings of Aram and Israel join together against Judah, Ahaz and his people are shaken with fear.
But God sends Isaiah to the frightened king with a message of hope. God promises that the enemies' plan will not succeed and even offers Ahaz a sign.

In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we meet King Jotham of Judah in 2 Chronicles 27 and 2 Kings 15.
Jotham became king after his father, King Uzziah. Uzziah had become powerful, but pride led him to disobey God in the temple. Jotham made a different choice. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and did not repeat his father's mistake.
As king, Jotham strengthened Jerusalem, built towers and towns, and defeated the Ammonites. The Bible tells us that Jotham became mighty because he ordered his ways before the Lord his God.
But there was a problem.
Although Jotham followed the Lord, many of the people of Judah continued in their wrong ways. And beyond Judah's borders, danger was growing. Israel and Aram were becoming enemies of Judah, while the mighty Assyrian Empire was rising.
Soon God's people would face some of their greatest challenges—and prophets like Isaiah and Micah would bring them God's Word.

Uzziah entered the temple and tried to burn incense, something God had appointed the priests to do. The Lord humbled the proud king, and Uzziah lived with a serious skin disease for the rest of his life.

What happened when the prophet Elisha reached the end of his life?
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we come to the final chapter of Elisha's remarkable ministry in 2 Kings 13.
When Elisha became very sick, King Jehoash of Israel came to visit him. Elisha asked the king to take a bow and arrows and gave him one final message from God: the Lord would give Israel victory over Aram.

Then Elisha died.
But an extraordinary event happened at his tomb. When the body of a dead man touched Elisha's bones, the man came back to life and stood on his feet!
This remarkable miracle reminds us that the power had never belonged to Elisha, it belonged to God. Elisha's life came to an end, but God's power remained, God's plan continued, and God's Word still came true.
