We're back from our trip to South Africa where we went on another safari near Kruger National Park. This time, we spent 3 nights in the Klaserie Private Game Reserve at Senalala Safari Lodge. It was amazing!

But we noticed differences between Senalala Safari Lodge and Simbavati River Lodge, where we've stayed on our last 2 visits to South Africa. We also noticed differences between the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve and the Timbavati Private Private Nature Reserve (where Simbavati River Lodge is located).

A couple of months ago, we started looking into our first trip of 2027. I know, it feels early, but it's rushing toward us!

We were looking into a budget-friendly trip that is 1) about 1 week long and 2) great for a mid-winter visit.

And we found quite a few places! There were some we were heavily considering before finally coming to a conclusion on where we're going. This includes anything from a National park road trip to even Egypt!

Recently, we FINALLY took a day trip to Niagara Falls in Canada!

While you can visit Niagara Falls in both the US (in Niagara Falls, New York) and Canada (in Niagara Falls, Ontario), we opted to explore the falls on the Canadian side and made a day of it!

Niagara Falls is only 3.5 hours from our home in Cleveland, so we woke up early, explored the falls, did a boat ride, visited the old Niagara Parks Power Station + The Tunnel, and even hiked in Niagara Glen.

Traveling to the Yucatán Peninsula during sargassum season is certainly no walk in the park.

If you're visiting the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, particularly from Cancun to Tulum, it can be a big problem. However, it doesn't have to ruin your trip!

This summer, Chris and I spent 7 days in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico with family! This multi-generational trip included my parents, my siblings and their spouses and kids, and us.

We rented a beautiful beach house in the local area of Xpú-Ha, and we had beach/pool days, swam in cenotes, visited Chichen Itza, and snorkeled with whale sharks off the coast of Isla Mujeres!

Now, we're recapping our trip and sharing our itinerary for a week in Mexico on the Riviera Maya!

Consider this an ode to a day trip. At home, we tend to go about our daily lives, spending weekends doing the same things, and kind of get in a rut.

But there are SO many adventures to be had around you! Whether it is another state, a state park, a national park, a town you haven't explored yet, or more, going on a day trip is a fabulous way to shake your routine up, get some much-needed travel, save money (since it isn't a big trip), and sleep in your own bed afterward.
