Bleav in Lakers

On a night where the Lakers looked to capitalize on their bounce back win against the Clippers, they had a complete meltdown against the Golden State Warriors and lose 112-95. The Lakers got much needed scoring from their star player Luka Doncic but it was not enough against the Steph Curry led Warriors. The turnovers once again is the biggest storyline for the Lakers and it seem they can not handle pressure. The Warriors got a much needed boost from their bench as the Lakers only got 7 points total from the bench unit. It was an ugly loss for the Lakers and they will look to regroup this Sunday against the Raptors.

The Lakers headed into last nights matchup undefeated against the Portland Trail Blazers who were undefeated as well. The Lakers lost 136-129 in a tough grind-it-out battle. The Lakers got another consistent night from Luka and Austin Reaves. There are big concerns with the Lakers backup bigman. Kevon Looney minutes have been an issue for the Lakers. The role players as well for the Lakers struggled as well with Grimes and Sexton shooting 0-8 from three combined. The Lakers will look to get back into the win column on a 2nd night of a back to back against the LA Clippers.

The Lakers are now 2-0 after a very tough win against the gritty Los Angeles Clippers. Former Lakers Rui Hachimura made his return and looked to seek revenge against the Lakers. There were a lot of turnovers in this game for the Lakers having 21 and will look to clean that up against the Utah Jazz this Sunday. Collin Sexton made his Lakers debut today getting 5 points, 2 assists, in 1 rebound. The trio of Luka, Austin, & Walker Kessler had another solid performance putting up 20 + points each. The role players continue to do their job and the Lakers look to build off of this and clean up the mistakes.

A new Era of Lakers basketball is here. There is no LeBron James, and we are officially in the Luka Doncic window for the Lakers. The new big 3 of Luka, Austin Reaves, & Walker Kessler did not disappoint in their debut last night. The trio had 20 plus points each in a 127-105 victory against the Warriors. Walker Kessler was the spotlight for the Lakers, achieving a perfect 12-12 from the field which has not been done since Wilt Chamberlain. Luka Doncic also got fired up and had some words for Golden State Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg. Be on the lookout for more Bleav In Lakers content with Deondre Hawkins. Ryan Ward returns to the mic with a major personal update, officially announcing his departure from Lakers Nation and his new role as publisher and reporter for Lakers on SI.

Ryan shares behind-the-scenes stories from his conversation with Horace Grant, including:

•

Grant’s perspective as one of only three players to win titles with both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

•

Why Grant believes Jordan is the undisputed GOAT, but says Kobe is the closest thing he’s seen to MJ.

•

A hilarious gambling story involving Jordan paying baggage handlers to win airport luggage bets.

•

An “epic” Shaq story involving Mark Madsen that nearly got out of hand.

The Celtics dominated the Lakers in what was supposed to be a celebratory evening honoring Pat Riley’s statue unveiling. Instead of a statement win, the team delivered a flat performance that left fans and former players frustrated.

Ryan reacts to:

•

The embarrassing loss at home.

•

James Worthy’s scathing postgame comments, calling the performance “weak” and saying there was “no respect for the uniform.”

•

Defensive issues that continue to plague the Lakers, including concerns about Luka Dončić, LeBron James’ effort on that end, and the overall lack of defensive identity.

Ryan dives into what the Lakers didn’t do at the trade deadline and the long-term implications:

•

Missing out on defensive reinforcements like Jeremy Sochan and Jose Alvarado.

•

The decision to use the final roster spot on Kobe Bufkin instead of a defensive upgrade.

•

The growing belief that the Lakers are preserving assets for a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo pursuit this summer.

He explains how pairing Luka and Giannis would instantly transform the team both defensively and offensively, while also discussing potential restricted free-agent targets such as Peyton Watson and Jalen Duren.

One of the biggest talking points of the episode: season ticket prices are skyrocketing under new owner Mark Walter.

Ron breaks down:

•

Documented increases that nearly doubled some 300-level ticket prices year-over-year.

•

Rising parking costs and overall in-game expenses.

•

The growing frustration among fans being priced out of live games.

While critical of the immediate impact, Ron explains why Walter’s deep pockets—proven by the Dodgers’ aggressive spending and championship success—could signal a “spare no expense” era for the Lakers.

Ryan highlights Pat Riley’s public praise of JJ Redick, saying the Lakers “picked the right person.” He analyzes:

•

Why the Riley comparison initially felt premature.

•

The shared personality traits between Riley and Redick.

•

The pressure JJ faces as expectations rise under new ownership.

•

The realistic shelf life of NBA head coaches and whether Redick can become a long-term fixture.

In this episode, Ryan dives headfirst into the growing storm surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers after a scathing ESPN report detailed years of turmoil within the Buss family, internal power struggles, and friction between Jeanie Buss and LeBron James. The discussion breaks down how the franchise reached this moment, why the $10 billion sale to Mark Walter brought long-simmering tensions into public view, and how family dynamics have quietly shaped basketball decisions since Dr. Jerry Buss’ passing.

A major focus of the episode centers on LeBron James’ complicated relationship with Lakers ownership, including reported frustrations over control, ego, and organizational decision-making—most notably the drafting of Bronny James. Ryan compares the Lakers’ handling of LeBron to how the franchise once operated with Kobe Bryant, highlighting key differences in leadership style, trust, and mutual respect.

The episode also examines LeBron’s public response to the report, why both sides appear to be playing PR chess, and how past decisions—such as the Russell Westbrook trade—accelerated the current dysfunction. From there, the conversation expands to potential trade scenarios, including rumblings about Golden State, Cleveland, and New York, and whether a clean break is inevitable for both sides.

Ryan closes by questioning whether the Lakers are wasting precious time with Luka Dončić, how defensive issues continue to plague the roster, and why ripping the band-aid off may be the only way forward before the situation worsens.

In this episode of the Jello Jiggling Podcast, Ryan Ward breaks down the Lakers’ much-needed bounce-back win over the Atlanta Hawks, snapping a three-game losing streak with a 141-point outburst. LeBron James flirts with a triple-double, Luka Dončić stuffs the stat sheet (and the turnover column), and the supporting cast shows flashes, but the conversation quickly shifts to the bigger picture: the Lakers’ shaky defensive identity and an approaching trade deadline that could reshape the roster.

A major focus is the emergence of Jake LaRavia, whose relentless motor, defensive activity, and two-way effort have earned him a potential permanent spot in the starting lineup. Ryan explains why LaRavia’s impact may be pushing Rui Hachimura toward the trade block, how JJ Redick seems to value defensive intensity over scoring, and why Marcus Smart and LaRavia currently stand out as the only consistent tone-setters on that end of the floor.

The episode also dives into:

•

Growing concern over the Lakers’ inconsistent effort and disappearing identity

•

Trade-deadline rumors involving Rui Hachimura and possible defensive targets

•

League-wide context, including unexpected Power Rankings movement

•

Skepticism about rumored fits like Jonathan Kuminga

•

The thin market for true difference-makers and fear of a panic overpay

•

Broader NBA storylines involving Trae Young, Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, and Giannis Antetokounmpo

•

Whether the Lakers are simply treading water until the All-Star break — or headed for a major shakeup

Despite the blowout win, Ryan questions whether one hot shooting night masks deeper issues, and whether real change is coming before the deadline or if this team is destined to remain stuck in the middle of the pack.

After another ugly loss, the Lakers’ issues are impossible to ignore.

Ryan dives into the team’s defensive breakdowns, inconsistent effort, and mounting frustration as Los Angeles struggles against elite competition. He examines the concerning body language and defensive lapses from LeBron James, the offensive drop-off without Austin Reaves, and growing concerns surrounding Luka Dončić’s health.

With the Western Conference tightening, Ryan questions whether minor roster tweaks are enough — or if the Lakers must make a drastic decision and fully pivot toward the future. The episode also touches on trade-deadline urgency and shifting MVP odds following Nikola Jokić’s injury.

A blunt, honest look at a franchise standing at a crossroads.

Only three games are left before the Los Angeles Lakers play host to Kevin Durant's Houston Rockets on Christmas Day at Crypto.com Arena.

In the meantime, Luka Doncic channels Santa Claus, LeBron James and Dillon Brooks still hate each other and Dalton Knecht could be on his way out before the NBA trade deadline.

This episode of The Jello Jiggling Podcast goes deep into one of the hottest runs in the NBA. Ryan opens by celebrating the Lakers’ perfect 4–0 NBA Cup performance and their advance to the quarterfinals against the San Antonio Spurs on December 10th. He recaps the team’s six-game winning streak, discusses the wild competitive imbalance around the league, and explores how Austin Reaves, Luka Dončić and Deandre Ayton are driving a top-tier offense.

Ryan also breaks down Victor Wembanyama’s injury situation, the Spurs’ potential without him, trade-deadline scenarios for LA, and how the West is shaping up. From standings surprises (Detroit?! Toronto?!) to teams collapsing (Clippers, Mavs, Pacers, Bucks), this episode covers every twist in the early season, and whether the Lakers’ hot streak is genuinely sustainable.

In this week’s episode, Ryan breaks down a chaotic but revealing stretch for the Lakers, who have lost two of their last three games—getting blown out by Atlanta and OKC but picking up a needed win in Charlotte. Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves continue to put up monster numbers even as the team wades through inconsistency and key injuries. We dive into why OKC currently looks unbeatable, how Luka and Reaves are carrying the offense without LeBron, and why the Lakers’ ceiling still feels unknown.

We also discuss LeBron’s recovery and his full 5-on-5 practice with South Bay, indicating he may be just days away from returning. From there, the episode pivots into league-wide chaos: the Mavericks firing Nico Harrison, Dallas spiraling, and what Luka had to say about his old franchise. Later, Ryan reacts to Austin Reaves’ comments about his upcoming contract negotiations, the NBA’s unpredictable trade landscape, and how the Lakers’ schedule sets up heading into a crucial stretch in November and December.

The episode wraps with betting picks, a FanDuel shoutout, and a look at whether 50+ wins is a realistic target for this team.

Ryan kicks off the episode in awe of Austin Reaves’ clutch performance, highlighting how the undrafted guard continues to elevate his game when the Lakers need him most. Despite injuries to major stars like LeBron James and Luka Dončić, Reaves delivered a career-tying 16 assists, 28 points, and the game-winning shot. Ryan compares Reaves’ mentality and growth to Manu Ginóbili, labeling him “a bona fide star” who’s redefining his role in the Lakers’ offense.

The episode expands into broader team analysis—how role players like Jake LaRavia, DeAndre Ayton, and Dalton Knecht stepped up in a depleted lineup—and Ryan praises JJ Redick’s leadership for keeping the team resilient and focused. He also discusses the Lakers’ injury struggles, rotation depth, and how this adversity might be shaping the squad’s chemistry for the long haul.

Later in the show, Ryan transitions into breaking news: Mark Walter’s official acquisition of the Los Angeles Lakers, signaling a new chapter in the franchise’s legacy. He reads quotes from Walter, Jeanie Buss, and Adam Silver, reflecting on the long-term implications of the deal and how Walter’s Dodgers success might translate to Lakers dominance. Ryan wraps up with a look ahead to the upcoming matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, potential returns for Luka and LeBron, and his optimism about the team’s direction.

Ryan breaks down Reaves’ stat line — 51 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 6-of-10 from three, and 21-of-22 at the free-throw line — and how his performance completely took over the game in Luka’s absence. But as one hero rises, the Lakers’ health woes deepen.

The episode details the growing injury report, including:

•

Luka Dončić (left finger sprain + lower leg contusion) – out at least a week

•

LeBron James (sciatica) – still without a firm return date

•

Marcus Smart (quad contusion) – day-to-day

•

Gabe Vincent (ankle sprain) – likely out multiple weeks

•

Jackson Hayes (left knee/patellar tendon) – out multiple games

•

Maxi Kleber (oblique strain) – re-evaluation in two weeks

•

Adou Thiero (knee surgery recovery) – no timetable yet

Ryan highlights how the Lakers, already thin, may have to rely heavily on role players like Jake LaRavia, Dalton Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt while JJ Redick juggles lineups under pressure.

The Los Angeles Lakers finally get a defensive upgrade, with the team set to bring in one-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Marcus Smart. In order to make room for Smart, the Lakers have also waived Shake Milton and are expected to make another move (likely a trade) to clear the space to sign Smart to a two-year deal worth $11 million.

• My FAVORITE move so far!
• Addresses a need defensively
• Injury history is a concern
• Luka recruited Smart to LA
• Lakers waive Shake Milton and Jordan Goodwin
• Dalton Knecht trade coming?
