Capt. Marty's Outer Banks Fishing Report & Stories

The fishing wheels are still turning slowly but they are going to gradually start picking up steam with the road being back open to Hatteras. Still fish being caught in other places and I'll talk all about it in this report.

New week and a new month!! The fleet is starting get back out there and the surf & piers are getting in on the action too! Hopefully this will be a great month of fishing!

Things are gradually getting back to normal on the fishing front. I have a few things to report on and things are looking up!

So the wind fell out somewhat yesterday but it didn't change too much on the fishing front. Things will slowly start getting back to normal and we should begin seeing Outer Banks fall fishing at it's finest very soon hopefully!

Again not a whole lot to talk about in the report today however there are three "aquatic" species that I will be talking about today.

Welcome to a brand new week! We're about to wrap up October and it hasn't been the greatest that's for sure. Still blowing, not a whole lot of action but I'll tell you what I do know from the weekend in this report.

Another day of it just simply being slow. The wind and the waves haven't helped us for our offshore fleet but that will hopefully change soon. I do have a few things to report on so listen up.

Not gonna sit here and lie... not a whole lot by way of fishing news from yesterday. I do have a few things to talk about though so I'll give you what I have in this report.

Still kinda tough fishing wise in some regards but I spoke with Kara Eakes from Red Drum Tackle Shop in Buxton and she shared some good fishing news with me. I'll share that with you in this report.

The wind is still blowing, and probably will for another day or so. We do have a few things to talk about though, believe it or not. I'll also tell you something that you'll want to remember that was told to me by Capt. John Bayliss.

Welcome to a new week, sort of! Looks like the windy weekend we had is going to hang on for a little while this week, but I do have some news from the Nags Head Surf Fishing Tournament and a little bit more fishing as well!

Capt. Marty and Justin took the show on the road to Wanchese Marina and The Landing Grill. Always a good time with great company, lots of laughs and good food! Brenda hops on to talk about all the fishing that's been going on, Wanchese Harborween and a little something new that's coming up at the end of November! There's also a little bit of deer hunting discussed to add to this fall weather that we are having.

Happy Friday everyone! We have some weather on the way so this weekend is probably going to be a wash BUT we have had some great fishing over the last few days.

We have made it halfway through the month and we actually have quite a few things to talk about in today's report.

Great news!!! We got a fleet out yesterday! It wasn't the best fishing day but things are moving in a great direction. I'll talk about that plus the drum bite that's going on in this report.

The winds over the last few days have kept things a little slower than usual, but there are still some things to report on. I'll let you know what those things are in this report.

Fishing over the weekend was interesting to say the least. Some spots were hot - some spots were not! I'll explain in this report!

Here's another one from Capt. Marty's youth down at Ponce Inlet, FL. After reading the book "Ra Expeditions" Marty and his friends Jeff & Bob decided to set out in his skiff from Ponce Inlet to Titusville, about 60mi. away, where his aunt lived. About halfway through the excursion they ended up at Mosquito Lagoon, and that's where the trouble started...
