Cardio + Chemistry
Cardio + Chemistry is where personal growth meets queer life.
Hosted by Joi Walker, the podcast blends honest conversations about identity, dating, relationships, confidence, ambition, and becoming the person you were always meant to be.
The cardio is about the work. Discipline, growth, healing, and building a life that feels like your own.
The chemistry is about queerness. Attraction, relationships, identity, and all the beautifully complicated parts of loving women.
Expect storytelling, perspective, humor, and the kind of conversations that feel like talking to your favorite gay cousin on your mama's side.
Whether you're figuring yourself out, rebuilding after a breakup, chasing bigger goals, or just trying to navigate life as a woman who loves women, you're in the right place.

Opposites Don't Attract
Show notes
We've all heard the saying, "Opposites attract." But what if everything we've been taught about finding balance in relationships is wrong?
As a lifelong introvert, I've always been drawn to women with big personalities. The outgoing ones. The social butterflies. The women who have never met a stranger.
I thought dating someone completely different from me was the perfect way to create balance. But over time, I started questioning whether those differences were actually helping my relationships or making them harder to maintain.
In this episode, I reflect on my dating history, a relationship that completely shifted my perspective, and why having things in common might be more important than we realize.
We explore the difference between chemistry and compatibility, the challenges of dating someone with a completely different lifestyle, and why shared values, interests, and routines can create a stronger foundation for long-term love.
Because maybe the secret to finding your person isn't finding someone who completes you. Maybe it's finding someone whose life complements yours.

Grown + Closeted
Show notes
Coming out isn't always a one time event. Sometimes, even as adults, we find ourselves hiding parts of who we are from the people we love most.
In this deeply personal episode, Joi reflects on the relationships, family dynamics, and difficult conversations that shaped her coming out journey. From keeping her first girlfriend a secret to navigating acceptance, grief, and the fear of disappointing loved ones, she explores what it means to be grown and still closeted.
Because sometimes the hardest part of coming out isn't figuring out who you are. It's wondering what you might lose when everyone else finds out.

The Women We Almost Loved
Show notes
Some women leave a lasting impression, even when the relationship never officially happens.
In this episode, Joi gets personal about a woman she almost loved and the lessons she learned about timing, compatibility, and the one that got away.
Because not every meaningful connection is meant to become a relationship. Sometimes the greatest lesson is learning to appreciate what was instead of mourning what could've been.

Your Gay Blueprint
Show notes
Your Gay Blueprint
Coming out isn't the finish line. For a lot of us, it's the first time we finally get to start building a life that actually feels like ours.
In the first episode of Cardio + Chemistry, Joi talks about why she never imagined herself hosting this podcast, the version of the American Dream many of us were handed, and what happens when that blueprint no longer fits.
Because there isn't just one closet.
Sometimes we come out about who we love while still hiding in our careers, our relationships, our ambition, our appearance, or the size of the life we really want.
This episode is a challenge to stop treating coming out like the end of the story and start asking a bigger question: What would your life look like if you gave yourself permission to become your fullest, boldest, gayest self?
