Brian and guest co-host DJ James Anthony hookup with Zeke Thomas and talk coming out in a famous family, being a gay DJ in straight spaces, recovering from sexual assault, if it’s ok for LGBTQ folks…
Season 3, Episode 23
Show notes
Brian welcomes DJ James Anthony back to the podcast, this time as guest co-host! James catches Brian up on the developments in his life since his last visit to the show over 15 months prior, particularly the launch and immediate popularity of his newest dance party, “Unspeakable Joy.” Brian recounts his recent night at the Eagle for James’ party “James Anthony’s House.” James talks about the status of his 24-year relationship. Brian shares how much he loved the movies You Can See Everything, Wicker, and especially La Bola Negra; the play School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play on Broadway and the musical The Curious Case of Benjamin Button off-Broadway; and the book The Disappearers by Marlon James. Brian explains the decor of the recording studio that often gets mentioned but never seen by listeners. The Hookup of the Week comes from a listener who finds someone he believes to be his identical dick twin while attending a queer music festival. Brian and James then welcome Emmy-nominated media personality, DJ, creative executive and survivor and advocate for sexual violence prevention, LGBTQ+ equality, and mental health awareness, Joshua “Zeke” Thomas to the show. The son of former Detroit Pistons star Isiah Thomas, Zeke talks about growing up as the son of an NBA Hall of Famer, his first sexual experiences, and what coming out was like to both family and friends. He describes how he found his career path, the pressure to present as straight to find success as a DJ, and the differences in DJing for straight crowds vs queer ones. Zeke also compares notes with Brian about their shared love of Disney. Zeke then goes into detail about the sexual assault he survived a decade ago, his recovery journey since then, how it’s changed him and how he thinks about protecting himself now. In closing, Brian, James and Zeke address a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is finding himself at a loss navigating political conversations with other LGBTQ people who make generalizations about and refuse to see the humanity of people who consider themselves religious or MAGA.

Season 3, Episode 22
Show notes
Jeremy Crittenden returns to chat with Brian for both the episode’s opening segment, and for this week’s Go Ask Your Dad. He talks about being a two-time divorcee, why each of his two marriages ended, and how he’s defining the post-marriage part of his life. Brian asks him, as a former bartender, for help deshaming a particular drink choice of his. They share their excitement over the current Broadway theatre season. The Hookup of the Week comes from a listener who enjoys the ride of his life in the backseat of a driverless robotaxi. Jeremy then leaves Brian to welcome political strategist and founder of Oath, Brian Derrick to the podcast. Recording the episode on National Coming Out Day, the Brians share their college coming out stories, and guest Brian explains how it was coming out that inspired him to shift gears from pursuing a medical career to a political one. He describes how his platform, Oath, helps people ensure that the money they donate to political causes is going where it can be most effective, and talks about the importance of optimism, the difference between hope and certainty, and what can be done to correct the current political trajectory sooner than later. He admits to two Daddy Issues: one personal, his penchant for Daddies, and one political, that half the country believes Trump to be their literal Daddy and is completely sub for him. He also talks about his dating life, his relationship with the apps, and how he meets people in person. Before leaving the basement, guest Brian points out the midterm races that Democrats have the potential to win that could make a significant impact, explains why every single race on the ballot is important, and pleads that nobody should leave any vote blank. Jeremy then returns to help Brian respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is starting to enter the leather community and wants help relocating his confidence when it suddenly disappears.

Brian and guest co-host Jeremy Crittenden hookup with Brandon Ash-Mohammed and talk the history and future of Kip’s BFF Shawn on ‘Heated Rivalry,’ doing stand-up as an introvert, racism in Canada…
Season 3, Episode 21
Show notes
Brian welcomes actor and comedian Jeremy Crittenden to the podcast as this week’s guest co-host. Jeremy talks about his acceptance of his Daddyness, and his appreciation for conversations with Daddies since nobody prepares us for the changes that happen later in life. In honor of National Coming Out Day, the two share their coming out stories. Brian explores whether his low libido of late has anything to do with stress, not the least of which comes from bringing a new puppy into the family. The Hookup of the Week comes from a listener whose hookup was so good, he made the recording from his car seconds after finishing. Brian and Jeremy then welcome to the podcast Canadian comedian, writer and producer, best known as Kip’s BFF Shawn on Heated Rivalry, Brandon Ash-Mohammed! Brandon shares his non-coming out story and talks about the supportive environment in which he grew up, he gives the origin story of his three-year relationship with his boyfriend, talks about how he got into stand-up comedy, and gives a peek into his work as Head Writer on Canada’s Drag Race, his role on Heated Rivalry and more. Brandon also tells Brian and Jeremy what makes him good at expressing love for others, what it’s like to be an introverted stand-up and struggles with the question of whether he should move from Toronto to New York for many reasons, a significant one being the difference in how racism presents itself in Canada versus the US. Brandon then helps Brian and Jeremy respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener separating from his husband and struggling with their continued relationship and logistical entanglements.

Season 3, Episode 20
Show notes
Brian welcomes content creator Guy Woof back to Dads and Daddies after almost two years. Guy recounts his recent family trip to Thailand and talks about his next trip, when he will travel to Las Vegas to teach porn creators how to make safe-for-work videos for Instagram and TikTok. The two compare notes on how they share the details of their sex-positive lives with their parents. Guy gives Brian some advice about how to present himself on the apps. The Hookup of the Week finds a listener realizing the existence of his inner Daddy and letting him loose when hooking up with another Daddy. Guy gets competitive about whether he or Brian is the bigger Broadway show queen, and admits his aspiration to play Romeo in & Juliet on Broadway before it closes. He shares his recent dalliances with supposed straight men. He delves deep into what it is like to live as an Israeli in the US, the assumptions that are made about him, and the work he has to do to convince people that he does not support the war, Israel’s oppression of Palestine and all of the killing. After a break, Guy shares his current Daddy Issue, which is his need to examine the role of poppers in his life, his desire for a relationship, and what he does and doesn’t prioritize when meeting potential partners. The episode ends with Guy helping Brian respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener frustrated that everyone he meets on the apps has already slept with people in his friend circle.

Brian hooks up with Joe Dombrowski and talks PTA running mates, fumbling the end of a first date, educating straight people on gay living, waiting for parenting to become fun, and more
Season 3, Episode 19
Show notes
Brian is thrilled to discover that his crush, the immensely popular and supremely funny comedian Joe Dombrowski, is a listener and avid clip-watcher of Dads and Daddies. Joe comes to Brooklyn from Seattle and sits down with Brian to share his aspirations to become PTA president; his evolution from Joey, the fraternity brother, to Joe, the schoolteacher and now comedic star; and how he almost tanked any potential of a relationship with his now husband on their first date. Joe joins Brian in listening to the Hookup of the Week, which comes from Bear Week in Provincetown and centers around the discovery of a unique and likely self-appointed brand ambassador. Brian’s conversation with Joe picks back up to talk about the evolution of both his material and his audience, the support he received from Ellen DeGeneres, the major decision to make comedy his full-time career, and his life now as a father to a ten month-old baby. He talks about his distaste for parents on the internet who make it look like having kids is pain-free, he helps Brian respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener struggling to speak with his husband about their sex life, and he challenges Brian to answer the question “Who is your favorite Drag Race queen of all time?”

Season 3, Episode 18
Show notes
Brian welcomes Boyslut author Zachary Zane back to the podcast, this time as guest co-host! Zachary recaps his “proper gay summer” and the two compare thoughts about their favorite gay vacation destinations, and the insecurities that come along with visiting each. Brian recreates the steam room hookups of his younger days with his husband, and both Zachary and Brian’s husband help him reframe his thinking around finishing quickly. The Hookup of the Week comes from a visitor to New York whose supposed threesome also includes a mysterious fourth. Brian and Zachary then welcome GayVN and Grabby award-nominated Daddy Patrick who, at 63, is new to being an adult performer and model, and who, two years into his latest career, wrote and directed the new gay western porn series, Drifters, which features, among many others, previous Dads and Daddies guests Joel Someone and Jonah Wheeler. Patrick shares how he came to start a porn career at 61, and how it evolved from making collabs for OnlyFans and JustForFans to writing, directing and performing in a 14-episode series for Ducati Studios. He compares his pre-60 corporate life to his life now in adult entertainment, he talks about what kind of Daddy he aims to be, how he imbues the porn he creates with intimacy, and about his conviction that gay men need to unlearn the instinct to be judgemental and instead to treat each other with kindness. Patrick also helps Brian and Zachary respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is curious if aging means we have to give up our sexual pursuits.

Season 3, Episode 17
Show notes
Judson says goodbye for now to Dads and Daddies for an as-yet-undetermined amount of time to seek treatment for bipolar depression. Brian welcomes Cats: The Jellicle Ball’s Rum Tum Tugger, Sydney James Harcourt, back to the podcast, this time as guest co-host. Sydney recaps the insanely busy five months since his last appearance on the show, from Tony Awards season through Pride Month to the recording of the Jellicle Ball cast album to Rosie O’Donnell becoming his biggest fan and inviting him onto “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” while she was guest hosting, to the release of his first single, “Deviant.” He shares the origins of his electronic music collective, FēRL, of the song itself and its message about celebrating all forms of sex without shame. He also addresses the question on everybody’s mind–whether or not he will launch an OnlyFans. Brian shares both his own Daddy Issue, and his own Hookup of the Week. The actual Hookup of the Week comes from a listener who meets a DL Side on Sniffies and finds their repeat hookup taking a surprising turn. Brian and Sydney are then joined by comedian Quin Lamar. Quin talks about his transition from Michigan to New York via a three-year detour to Berlin, he shares how his parents raised him to have a love of comedy, his thoughts on truth in stand-up, and how he is able to imbue sex positivity into his shows because of the pride he takes in being a slut. He also delves into his marriage, and how his and his husband’s individual evolutions over their ten years together eventually led to divorce. Quin shares his distaste for concerts, what it means to live life as a serial monogamist slut, and his insights into the sexual challenges his straight friends face. Judson returns from a destination wedding in Portugal with gay beach and bathhouse recommendations. Barrett talks about how he has found himself on Broadway after an almost 20-year absence, what it was like to work opposite Meg Stalter and what a happy return it has been after a dozen years working on a crime procedural TV show teeming with alpha male energy. He shares the dilemma he faced as a gay actor on a hit show at the time that celebrities began to come out of the closet in force, and how he found the freedom to live fully out and proud through his discovery of Burning Man. He shares his NCIS co-star Chris O’Donnell’s reaction to learning how important he was to some gay men’s sexual awakenings; he recounts how Burning Man brought him together with his partner of three years who is deaf; and he delves deep into his Daddy Issue with a father who is incapable of giving compliments.Barrett also tells Brian and Judson about his friendship with Kylie Minogue, the incredible work of Every Day Action, the nonprofit of which he’s a founding member and board VP, and he helps respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener whose fiance has just passed away and its looking for guidance on grieving.

Brian and Judson hookup with Gay Tired Hopeful’s Andrew Abel and talk commodotizing sex, gay exhaustion, being born polyamorous and insatiable bottoms
Season 3, Episode 15
Show notes
Judson attends his 25-year high school reunion. Brian begins his attempts to schedule “hotwifing” sessions with two of his favorite hookup partners, one session where he would watch his husband with another man, and one where his husband would watch him. The hookup of the week finds a listener and his partner enjoying some of the best kept secrets one port has to offer while on a family cruise. Brian and Judson are then joined by Andrew Abel, founder and creative director of Gay Tired Hopeful, which "explores the patterns shaping modern queer life, from identity and intimacy to culture, work, and belonging, and the things we’re all quietly trying to figure out." Andrew describes how his professional and personal lives converged to drive him to create Gay Tired Hopeful, shares how his social media post questioning why gay men always act like there’s someone better drove its current popularity, and delves into why ‘Tired’ is an important part of the platform’s name. He also talks about cruising in forests, being raised without rules, and identifying as polyamorous while married to someone who may not be. In closing, Andrew joins Brian and Judson in responding to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is new to topping and has much he’s curious about, particularly when it comes to living up to bottoms’ standards at his regular batthouse.

Season 3, Episode 14
Show notes
Judson returns from Provincetown with a number of recommendations, not the least of which is his new favorite category of sexual gathering–a bate party. Brian revels in a few kid-free weeks while both of his are off at sleepaway camp and he’s able to make hookups happen when he typically couldn’t. The Hookup of the Week finds a listener discovering to his surprise that twenty-minute hookups–as Brian and Judson have often described–can be fun, hot, fulfilling and not at all rude to the other person. The two are then joined by much-requested repeat hookup, Dr. Evan Goldstein! The leading anal health expert in the United States, founder of Future Method and one of the few surgeons in the world whose practice, Bespoke Surgical, is dedicated to treating and restoring the human butt is back on Dads and Daddies to answer a number of questions submitted by listeners since his previous appearance nine months ago. Before that, he recounts his personal journey, from his Staten Island childhood in the 70s and 80s, to his surgery residency where he met, fell in love with and married a woman, to meeting his now husband in an online chat room, to his becoming a reluctant parent to twin baby boys, to his close friendship with Martha Stewart. He also talks about turning 50, where his head is about that, and enjoying his Daddy era. He then responds to a number of questions submitted by listeners since his last visit to the show, on topics ranging from douching to STIs to internal scarring as a result of assault to depth play.

Season 3, Episode 13
Show notes
Judson mourns the death and celebrates the life of his father-in-law. Inspired by one of his husband’s hookups, Brian attempts a night of kink at home and stirs up much more drama than intended. The Hookup of the Week finds our listener arriving at the airport and running into his year-long Grindr crush, who then becomes quite the hands-on tour guide for the trip that follows. Brian and Judson are then joined by co-author of Dads and Daddies Book Club selection, Kink for Dummies, Jack Harrison-Quintana. Jack tells Brian and Judson how he first met and became close with his co-author Jaime M. Grant, and how the two came to write a book about kink for Wiley, publisher of the entire slate of For Dummies books. Jack shares his early kink origins on both personal and professional planes, he asks Judson about his history with kink and drugs, and discusses whether or not Brian’s affinity for group and public sex makes him a kinkster. Jack also explores whether or not kinks can exist without personal shame or judgement of the community at large, how the tenets of the kink community should be guiding principles for all of humanity, how couples can communicate about uneven kink desires, how not all kinks appear sexual, removing shame from the need for erectile dysfunction medication, and so much more. Brian and Judson have a fivesome with repeat hookups Jonah Wheeler, Joel Someone, and Daddy Kylex and talk helping each other navigate the gay porn industry, making spontaneous content together…
Season 3, Episode 12
Show notes
Judson befriends the other two gay guys at his office, and triggers Brian’s memories of discovering gay colleagues at work. The Hookup of the Week finds a listener having a hot hookup with someone he didn’t think was interested in him. Brian and Judson then host their first podcast orgy of sorts with three repeat hookups at once! Adult entertainment stars Jonah Wheeler, Joel Someone and Daddy Kylex return to the basement to talk about all things pornography– their friendships, their working relationships and how they help one another navigate the industry. Joel and Kylex talk about what it’s like to be actual neighbors, and how it makes for some spontaneous content shoots. Kylex and Jonah talk about sharing partners, leading to unintentional continuity and Easter Eggs between their videos. Joel shares the story about how he brought Jonah into the business via a miscommunication that turned out to be a happy accident and grew into a proper mentorship. The three explain why the videos they make together are some of their favorite content, how romance, intimacy and even the L word figure into their sexual encounters, and share new Daddy Issues--two with app behavior, and one with the loss of vulnerability after taking on the Daddy role for so long. To close, the three help Brian and Judson respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who wants to learn how to love his own body.

Brian and Judson hookup with Eliot Glazer and talk giving voice to disastrous gays, laughing at sex parties, queer sports league trauma and learning Gen Z vocab by dating an Insta hottie
Season 3, Episode 11
Show notes
Judson approaches his work anniversary feeling great as an office Daddy. Brian tests out Grindr’s new AI features. The Hookup of the Week finds our listener helping a straight-curious-identifying partner through what turns out to be some therapeutic exploration. The two are then joined by comedian, actor, podcaster, musician, television writer and author of the new book, The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Gay, Eliot Glazer! Known to many for his performance as Eliot, brother to Ilana on the beloved TV series Broad City (and in real life), Eliot talks about how often he feels he’s a disaster as a gay man, and how his book is meant to provide others feeling the same way both belly laughs and the comfort that they’re far from alone. He talks about how he copes with his anxiety as he searches for the perfect sex party, how he measures one’s gay age, his belief that his future husband exists in the midwest, the failings of gay sports leagues, his close relationship with his famous sister, and how the book provided the opportunity to separate himself from her and establish his own voice. He also tells Brian and Judson about the connection he made with a Gen Z hottie through their generational differences, and helps them respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is more newly out than his partner and wants to open their relationship so he can continue his sexual exploration, but doesn’t know that he will feel comfortable with his partner hooking up with other people.

DR. DADDY IS BACK! Brian and Judson hookup with Dr. Demetre Daskalakis again and talk protecting LGBTQ+ people from syndemics; the present and future of PrEP; the dire need in the U.S, for universal…
Season 3, Episode 10
Show notes
Judson learns how to sleep in with coaching from his husband. Brian starts to feel a more distinct separation between himself and his straight friends. The two discover a kinship with the late Joel Schumacher, director of films including The Lost Boys, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. The Hookup of the Week is so hot it almost blows the roof off of Brian’s basement and finds the listener living out many of Brian’s and Judson’s fantasies rolled into one. Before the break, Brian reveals the next Dads and Daddies Book Club selection, Kink for Dummies by Jaime M. Grant and future podcast guest, Jack Harrison-Quintana. The two are overjoyed to then welcome back to the studio, Dads and Daddies’ very own Dr. Daddy, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, Chief Medical Officer at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York City, a leader in LGBTQ+ healthcare both locally and nationally. Dr Demetre brings Brian and Judson up to speed on the developments in his life and career in the eight months since his prior appearance on the podcast, including a move from Atlanta to NYC, and taking on Callen-Lorde's medical leadership. He teaches Brian and Judson about syndemics (synergistic epidemics), what they mean for the queer community, and the initiative he introduced at Callen-Lorde to help LGBTQ+ people live their full lives in the safest ways possible. He also explains PrEP on demand, injectable PrEP, and the relationship between Undetectable and Untransmittable. He talks about Big Pharma and the queer community, and the less obvious reasons we need to make universal healthcare a reality in the United States. He also talks about his philosophy that self-care as LGBTQ+ people is the highest form of rebellion, and describes what self-care looks like for him, personally. To close, Dr. Demetre fulfills his promise and answers not one, but four medical Go Ask Your Dad questions that have been submitted since his first time on the show.

The two are then joined by the founder and CEO of the Daddyhunt app, Carl Sandler. He tells the story behind the Daddyhunt serial that became a viral sensation ten years ago, and talks about its upcoming re-release this year in 4K for a post-Heated Rivalry world. Carl helps Brian and Judson think about how gay men can and should behave better towards one another, explains what he as a Daddy gets from the younger men he surrounds himself with, discusses how Daddiness at its core is about giving back and what that looks like, delves deep into the importance and benefits of gay friendships, and he issues a life-and-death warning to all sons. Judson recounts his sexy week and educates Brian on what it means to participate in Daddy-Daddy play. The Hookup of the Week comes from a listener who finds a great hookup on The Blowers while traveling, proving that it is better to give than to receive. The two are then joined by podcaster and documentarian Jess Rothschild, creator and executive producer of the GLAAD Award-nominated docu-series Finding Fire Island, now in its second season—with many episodes featuring Judson! Jess tells Brian and Judson how she came to fall in love with Fire Island, why she felt it was important to document its deep history, and asks each host to share their Fire Island origin stories. She also shares her views on 12-step programs, explains how she is attracted to women but prefers the company of gay men, and discusses the differences in how lesbians and gay men approach sex and openness. Finally, Jess helps Brian and Judson respond to a "Go Ask Your Dad" question from a listener who has found a spark with someone online but is unsure whether or not he should remind this person that they interacted years earlier—and that it ended on a sour note.

Season 3, Episode 5
Show notes
Judson returns from a couples therapy session with a new understanding of how keeping certain thoughts and feelings to himself is affecting his husband, which spawns a conversation with Brian about how they care for their long-term relationships and friendships. A Blowers hookup teaches Brian a lesson about pushing himself outside his comfort zone and helps him realize he may have a talent for being verbal in the bedroom. The Hookup of the Week finds our listener meeting someone in a spa while on vacation, and learning how intimate a connection can be when forced to communicate without words. Brian and Judson are then joined by the writer and performer Michael Musto called “Oscar Wilde meets Whoopi Goldberg,” Justin Elizabeth Sayre. Justin tells Brian and Judson about their new solo show they’re bringing to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, Justin Elizabeth Sayre is a 40 Year-Old Woman, how it was inspired by having to learn how to age as a queer person without role models to follow, and about the origins of their beloved Night of a Thousand Judys – an annual benefit for the Ali Forney Center, the nation's largest non-profit providing shelter and healthcare services to LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness in New York City. Justin also talks about their journey to accepting their queerness, the on-and-off courtship via text and DM of their now wife, being a non-binary person married to a trans woman, and how the last presidential election forced them to expedite their wedding in the United States, before moving out of the country out of concern for their wife’s safety. Justin’s Daddy Issue sparks a debate about how to present oneself on the apps. Judson declares the season High-Signal Summer after his signature brand of overt homosexuality attracts a new friend from across two streets. Brian spars with his second grader's teachers when they won't approve the book he plans to read to her class for Pride, and he is called out by his fifth grader for having Grindr on his phone. Brian and Judson are then joined by global superstar - and a Grand Marshal of the 2026 New York City Pride March - Peppermint! An actress, singer, and comedian who rose to international fame on Season 9 of RuPaul's Drag Race and has become one of the most prominent voices in the fight for trans inclusion everywhere, Peppermint talks about the current barriers keeping trans people from living happy and healthy lives, why fighting for civil rights is a core part of her being, why she chose to audition for RuPaul's Drag Race, why her season wasn't appreciated at the time, the divisive Drag Race queen she admits is one of her favorites to tour with, and the extreme expense of drag competitions. She also details how she was required to audition for the role based on - and named for - her on Netflix's Survival of the Thickest, how she finds confidence through gratitude, her relationship with dating, what dating is like for trans women, and so much more.
