"Election day in America"
Show notes
November 3, 2026, 4pm; Take a brief moment and appreciate the beauty inherent in what we're about to discuss. That is your sacred right to vote -- fought for, bled for, passed-down over the course of centuries -- and the affirmation that our country's direction is not in the hands of Donald Trump.

Show notes
November 2, 2026; 5pm: Trump and his allies are STILL unable to find evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election, but that doesn't stop them from using those conspiracy theories to justify attempts to interfere in tomorrow's midterm elections.

"The day before Election Day"

November 2, 2026; 4pm: The day before a very important election day in America's history, Donald Trump took to the stage in front of the reflecting pool in Washington DC, where instead of talking about the economy, cost of living, or gas prices, he talked about algae, pipes, and the Potomac River.

"Chaos amid canceled and uncanceled campaign events"
Show notes
October 30, 2026, 5pm; Donald Trump and his allies canceled campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa only to reverse course within a day. The reasons for the reversal -- and the reversal of the reversal -- aren't entirely clear, but all the same, the switch-up didn't go unnoticed or uncriticized. It also is not clear whether Republican candidates in those states want him there, anyway.

"What might the end of the rule of law look like?"
Show notes
October 28, 2026, 4pm; One sign of the end of the rule of law is that facts and evidence of a case are pursued at the end stage after the targets have been identified. Another might be the end of the grand jury process, the standard procedure for obtaining a criminal indictment. Both are features, not bugs, of a Trump presidency.

Show notes
October 27, 2026, 4pm; Trump's GOP is desperately trying to bribe, gaslight, beg, and bully voters -- and if that doesn’t work? Well, then they might just try to sow doubt in the results of the election, just like he did in 2020.

"James Comey charged once again"
Show notes
October 26, 2026; 5pm: In Trump's second term, there is a vast accountability void in the DOJ, begging the question as to who might step in and be proactive in filling that void. A group of veteran federal prosecutors and human rights lawyers has created "The Rule of Law Project" in an attempt to do what the DOJ refuses to do.
Later, some breaking news: Trump's DOJ charges Former FBI Director James Comey for a violation of the Espionage Act. This is the third time Comey has been charged by this DOJ.

Show notes
October 26, 2026; 4pm: Around the world, the fight for democracy is ringing true and toppling strong-men leaders. In Serbia, strong-man ruler Aleksandar Vučić was toppled by a student-led movement who protested for months before the election.

"The deal with Russia"
Show notes
October 23, 2026; 5pm: Russia has returned an American hostage, and it is something to celebrate. What is causing many to pause, however, is what Trump was willing to give up in exchange. Trump lifted sanctions on Russia, which he previously signed into law. This is the latest in what former CIA analyst Julia Curlee calls Putin reaping the rewards for interfering in the 2016 election.
Later, Democratic senate candidate Mary Peltola joins Nicolle to talk about the DOJ preemptive lawsuit against Alaska and its election integrity.

"DOJ files preemptive lawsuit against Alaska"
Show notes
October 23, 2026; 4pm: Trump's DOJ filed a preemptive lawsuit against Alaska, seeking to block the senate election results if anyone other than the Republican incumbent, Sen. Dan Sullivan, wins. The reason? There is an unaffiliated candidate, Daniel J. Sullivan, who is also on the ballot. The DOJ claims that the election's integrity could be compromised because voters could be confused between the two Sullivans. This suit comes as polls place the democratic candidate, Mary Peltola, higher.

"Yet another pay-for-play scheme"
Show notes
October 21, 2026, 5pm; Alina Habba Mildon denied any role in the pardon, and the Herreras did not respond to the Times' multiple requests for comment. In a statement, the Justice Department told the Times that Mildon didn't speak to anyone about a pardon, and a White House official said Mildon had nothing to do with the Herrera pardon. But there's no doubt, it fits into a much larger, more troubling pattern.
