Dungeons 'n' Durags

Back in 2021, season 1 of the show was very different than what you are getting now. It was an audio documentary series with me, J.D., and his wife, Yolanda. They're hilarious and follow my journey of reconnecting with the Black community. Between our usual film and TV reviews, we'll bring you these episodes for your entertainment. Enjoy.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:

Ron has lived his entire adult life as a Black man in a white world. Most of his friends were white, most of his co-workers were white, and he attended white hipster churches. Then in 2016 with the election of #45, everything changed. He had a crisis of faith and a racial identity crisis that sent him on a quest to reconnect with his blackness in a way he never has before. In this inaugural episode, meet Ron and his Black BFFs JD and Yolanda (whom he affectionately refers to as the “Dre & Bow” to his “Junior.”) Find out why this show exists and what to expect. Laughter will ensue.

Even though everybody and their mother has finished reviewing all eight episodes of Carrie, we are on some serious CPT getting to it. But as usual, our takes are worth the wait. We discuss some comparisons to the original Brian de Palma classic (which apparently is horrible and crazy AF). Oh, and we kinda talk a little bit about VisionQuest.

We got two new shows to cover, which means twice as many reasons to go off on tangents! This week, David from our sister show, The Lorehounds, joins to discuss Vision Quest episodes 1 and 2. Then, after he bails because of bedtime, the Usual Suspects stay to discuss the first episode of Carrie. We’re sure you’ve probably already watched everyone else’s full-season review, but trust us, you’ll always be entertained by our coverage.

We plan to cover two episodes a week, and if we have time to spare at the end, we’ll throw in some commentary about VisionQuest (assuming any of us have watched it, because generally speaking, we’re just not feelin’ it.)

Welp! That was definitely a show. Temu Lanterns. Unnecessary plot lines. Never-seen-again characters (And those we wish we never saw in the first place. Looking at YOU, Maggie.) As you might expect, the fellas have a whirlwind of thoughts and feelings about the finale and this season of LANTERNS in general. Will there be a season 2? (Edu is not holding his breath.) However you feel about the show and this finale, you're sure to have plenty of laughs with our recap. As usual, don't bother watching if you want a deep, introspective breakdown. These are just four bruthas shootin' the sh*t about a superhero show (er, I mean, a gritty and grounded crime drama).
