Infants on Thrones
Welcome to Infants on Thrones, a podcast dedicated to exploring self-awareness, discovery, and the complexities of human existence. Our name, Infants on Thrones, reflects our belief that we are all in a continuous state of growth and learning, much like infants. As we navigate through life's challenges and questions, we aim to approach each topic with curiosity, humility, and a touch of humor.
Join us as we delve into a wide range of subjects, from personal development and mental health to philosophical and spiritual inquiries. Whether we're discussing the evolution of human consciousness, sharing insights from various fields of study, or reflecting on our own life experiences, our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
We're not experts with all the answers, but we invite you to join us on this journey of exploration and growth. Together, we'll question, learn, and hopefully gain a bit more clarity along the way. Welcome to Infants on Thrones.

Episode 953

Glenn Ostlund's Psychology Today Profile
Tom, Jake, and Glenn dive into the world of superheroes, debating the best Superman, Batman, and the brilliance of HBO’s Lanterns. Then Tom confesses his guilty pleasure: AI-generated music. Is artificial intelligence expanding human creativity or slowly replacing it? The conversation explores the future of art, education, and human connection before landing on the fascinating topic of learned helplessness—and what happens when we stop exercising the abilities we once relied on.

Episode 952

Glenn Ostlund's Psychology Today Profile
Tom Perry and Brother Jake return to Infants on Thrones to join Glenn in an old-school conversation about Elizabeth Holmes, Theranos, and Nathan Fielder’s documentary You Can See Everything.
Drawing parallels between Mormon missionary zeal and Holmes’ convictions, Glenn, Tom, and Jake explore belief, self-deception, cognitive dissonance, and the stories we tell ourselves about other people.
Through the lenses of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cognitive defusion, and Anil Seth’s concept of controlled hallucination, they consider a deceptively simple question: How much can we really know about another person’s experience—or even our own?

The Purple Lantern: Is Courage the Absence of Fear? (A Binaural Meditation)
What happens when the stories we've inherited no longer illuminate the world around us? And what if the first step toward freedom isn't finding a better answer, but learning to ask a different question?
In this special bonus episode of Infants on Thrones, Glenn introduces The Purple Lantern, a new immersive meditation podcast exploring the intersection of mythology, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, and consciousness.
Inspired by the emotional spectrum of DC's Lanterns mythology, The Purple Lantern imagines another kind of light—one that doesn't demand certainty, suppress fear, or require us to surrender our judgment. Instead, it invites curiosity, compassion, awareness, and the freedom to choose what happens next.
For anyone who has questioned inherited beliefs, wrestled with competing versions of truth, or discovered that leaving one story doesn't automatically tell you what story comes next, this meditation offers a different kind of exploration.
Through an atmospheric soundscape, guided storytelling, and 6 Hz theta binaural beats, you'll enter a fictional world where a mysterious Teacher invites a Witness to reconsider the nature of fear, courage, and the light we carry within ourselves.
Headphones are recommended for the full binaural experience.
The Purple Lantern is launching as a standalone podcast featuring original, story-driven meditations that explore how the stories we tell shape the realities we experience—and how awareness creates the possibility of choosing differently.

No commandments. No required beliefs. Just an invitation to notice what happens when you begin to see things in a different light.

Service to Other vs. Service to Self: A Playful Examination of Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra and Joseph Smith
Episode 950
Show notes
Glenn Ostlund's Psychology Today Profile
What happens when a spiritual teaching moves through personality, money, sexuality, celebrity, institutional power, and the human desire to become somebody?
In this episode of Infants on Thrones, we view Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Joseph Smith, and the religious movements surrounding them through the metaphysical vocabulary of The Ra Contact. Using the Law of One’s distinction between service to others and service to self, we explore how teachings of unity can encourage compassion, freedom, and direct spiritual experience—while also becoming entangled with wealth, hierarchy, prestige, authority, and control.
Why does Tolle’s teaching tend to dismantle the seeker’s need to become extraordinary? How can spirituality turn ambition into spiritualized ambition? What happens when Joseph Smith’s radically expansive vision of human divinity becomes an institution organized around priesthood keys and exclusive authority? And how might a scale created to judge spiritual teachers quietly become another source of ego and superiority?
The percentages offered in this episode are a playful interpretive device, not measurements found in The Ra Contact. The deeper question is personal:
Does a teaching increase compassion without weakening discernment? Does it strengthen boundaries without creating contempt? Does it make authority more necessary—or leave us increasingly free to be present as nobody in particular?

Ep 948 - Bathing With God Revisited: A World of Pure Imagination (A Binaural Meditation)
Episode 948
Show notes
Glenn Ostlund's Psychology Today Profile
In this third episode of Bathing with God Revisited, Glenn turns to Chapter 2, “A World of Pure Imagination,” examining how our sensory systems shape a highly restricted view of the world alongside neuroscientist David Eagleman’s concept of the umwelt and cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman’s interface theory of perception. Now a licensed therapist in Arizona, Glenn revisits the book as a way of tracing the intellectual, spiritual, and psychological path that eventually led him into the therapy profession.
The episode explores the limits of biological perception, how different organisms inhabit entirely different sensory realities, and the provocative claim that our brains trade literal truth for evolutionary survival, while also asking what these ideas might offer therapeutically. For listeners, the conversation invites reflection on cognitive humility, the distinction between our subjective models and objective reality, and how we can use intentional imagination to expand our psychological horizons and loosen the grip of rigid, defensive narratives.
This episode is presented as a theta binaural meditation. Headphones are required to experience the full binaural effect.

Glenn Ostlund's Psychology Today Profile
In this second episode of Bathing with God Revisited, Glenn turns to Chapter 1, “Rub a Dub Dub, What’s That Voice in My Tub?”, examining its initial speculations on consciousness and subatomic energy alongside the work of journalist Steve Volk and physicist David Tong's insights on quantum field theory. Now a licensed therapist in Arizona, Glenn revisits the book as a way of tracing the intellectual, spiritual, and psychological path that eventually led him into the therapy profession.
The episode explores the limits of human perception, the nature of inner dialogue, and the speculative intersections of quantum physics and consciousness, while also asking what these ideas might offer therapeutically. For listeners, the conversation invites reflection on cognitive flexibility, how we relate to our own internal voices, and how we tolerate existential uncertainty in a world that extends far beyond our biological senses.
This episode is presented as a theta binaural meditation. Headphones are required to experience the full binaural effect.

A listener reaches out after an unexpected conversation with a former bishop leaves her shaken, tearful, and wondering why old wounds still hurt. In this episode, we explore religious trauma through the lenses of Samskara, Polyvagal Theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Why does the body react long after the mind has moved on? What happens when old emotional grooves are triggered? And how can we cultivate peace, boundaries, and self-trust without needing to prove our experience to anyone?

A message from an old friend became an unexpected mirror. After a New Moon ritual, Glenn received a warning that he had opened demonic portals through witchcraft and that only repentance could save him. Rather than debating theology, this episode explores certainty, folklore, nervous systems, cult dynamics, spiritual identity, and the stories we use to make sense of reality. What happens when two people who once admired each other find themselves living inside entirely different worlds?
