Insuphishient: Your Daily Phish Podcast Fix
Insuphishient is a Phish podcast hosted by Matt and Nick — a 500-episode series dedicated to exploring the music, culture, and one-of-a-kind universe of the greatest band of all time.
With no set setlists and no rules, each episode dives into Phish shows, band lore, and wild theories — blending deep insights with hilarious hot takes. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or just discovering Phish, there’s a spot for you here.
Each week follows a groove of its own:
• Monday: Soundcheck — setting the stage for the week ahead.
• Tuesday: International Jams — exploring Phish's global impact.
• Wednesday: World Wide Wednesdays — tracking the latest Phish news from across the web.
• Thursday: This Day in Phishtory — revisiting legendary shows from the archives.
• Friday: Big Money Friday — when the chaos ramps up and anything goes.
It’s just two friends talking Phish… mostly. Expect the (un)expected.

Show notes
As "the boys" get ready for their 8 show fall run, Matt and Nick are here to get you in the mood for some Phish. How are they going to do it you ask? Buy getting in the way back machine and going to some Phish!
The show notes don't say what year, but there were 3 shows in Atlantic City and none of them were on Halloween, if that helps.
For me It didn't but maybe for you it will.
Happy Wednesday people,let's!

Matt and Nick take on Commerce City
Show notes
You asked for it. You waited. And now you got it.
Nick and Matt are back with ALL NEW Insuphishient.
This summer, Matt accidentally became the majority owner of a regional aquarium. And Nick discovered an unopened sleeve of Ritz crackers in his 95 tour vehicle.
Just Remember, When they zig, we zag. When they zag, we zog(g).
Something about this feels so right. Let(s) Go!!

A total Insuphishient thing to do....
Show notes
Hi(gh). How's it going? Long time no see. I have missed you.
So.. Where the heck have we been?
Good question. No acceptable answer(s), but we still listen to Phish daily. We still talk all the time and as the pieces get realigned in our lives we are both fighting to make time for you.
Anyway, it looks like we recorded this and maybe never released it. I listed to it and both Matt and Nick's mics are on and you can hear them well. That was about it really. Other than that I don't know much else about what's going on in this episode. But chances are you are going to like it.
Peace out!

Duck, Chickens and FALL TOUR!
Show notes
Matt and Nick break down Phish’s newly announced fall tour before reviewing the second night at Fenway Park, including the setlist, the strongest jams, the crowd, and the sharp contrast between the two sets.
They also offer thoughtful commentary on the band’s performance and explain why the first set worked so much better than the second.
They did not do this thoughtfully.
Along the way, they discuss Charles Dickens, forgotten microphones, Shakedown Street, a possible Phish swinger community, and several facts that were almost certainly incorrect.
It was a serious review of an uneven show.
It was not serious.

Insiders Guide to Phenway Part 1
Show notes
Well, your favorite Phish podcast is back. Yes, we mean Insuphishient! And not a moment too soon.
Phish is in Phenway, and we have everything you need to survive. Where to park. What gate to use. The best sausage stand.
Wait...
No, we don’t know any of that.
But if you want a thoughtful breakdown of the last two shows, we don’t have that either.
We did talk for a long time, though!
It’s the last show of summer tour!

Summer sitting out by the pool VOL 3
Show notes
I know it's that time of year when everyone loses track of what day it is... but now you've got me wondering:
What year is it?
As Phish wraps up its historic run at MSG, Matt and Nick are, as usual, a day late and a dollar short.
This episode starts in 1993 and somehow ends in 1994. We're not entirely sure how we got there, but neither are our hosts.
Which raises an interesting question: Do you really want to go back to the '90s?
Sure, it may have been peak civilization. But there's something to be said for tomorrow always being better than yesterday.
Ciao.

You Made a Podcast Out of Phish?
Show notes
Standing outside MSG (You can hear Huey Lewis in the background.)
The power of Phish is a curious thing
Makes Fishman tick, makes the KoA sing
Makes every fan surrender to flow (bliss)
More than a band, that’s the power of PhishThey didn’t choose money, they didn’t choose fame
Nick charged all the tickets in ’95, the bill was insane
No ice-cold fatties or miserable people in sight
Just Trey on the stage trying to save your lifeThat’s the power of Phish

A Slightly Dated Episode of Insuphishient (Maybe February 2025?)
Show notes
Let’s face it. Matt and Nick are not exactly the most reliable podcast crew. But they are pretty amazing when they actually show up.
While Phish is out on the road, and some might even say CRUSHING it in the South, Nick and Matt are on vacation because it’s JULY.
But fear not. They’ll be back Tuesday.
Until then, here’s a slightly dated episode to give you your Phish fix and carry you through the weekend.
Enjoy!

Never Miss a Sunday Show (of us or them)!
Show notes
Night Two was an absolute rager, and we'll break that one down next week. But today is Sunday, and there's one rule every Phish fan knows. If it's Deer Creek, it's even more true.
NEVER MISS A SUNDAY SHOW.
Today, Nick and Matt break down the first night in Indiana, the biggest jams, the standout moments, the songs that hit, the ones that didn't, and whether this weekend deserves a place in Phish tour lore (It might).
Plus the return of completely reasonable arguments, completely reasonable opinions, and a look ahead at what's coming next.
Let(s) GO!!!! (Surender to the flow??)

Mellon Cauliflower Fish Vol 2 (nights in a row)
Show notes
Night 2 comes to a close like an old man lowering himself into a hot bath. Matt and Nick are here to give you the play by play because you need it to live.
So, (With the timezone changing the clocks and some new compression socks and maybe some jolt cola in the stock (room)) we just might be at the start of something here.
It's Called a cold open for a reason people!
As you get ready for. Deer Creek, throw this on and clap a long to the hip sounds of these two (idiots) talk.

Rocked me To the Kohl(R) Night 1
Show notes
Summer Tour is back, Phish is back and somehow Mike's back is making things a little too hot for an indoor show.
Night One in Madison opened with CDT (patient pending), immediately went Type Dose (wait why have I never heard anyone use that descriptor before? Dose, get it??). This gave Nick and Matt just enough hope to begin overanalyzing every decision the band made for the next two sets.
Was it the greatest tour opener ever?
Did everybody sound good and find themselves quickly?
Did you get a poster? What's with the "poster" people? Can one of you call into the show?
Nick. Matt. Summer. Tour. Phish.

Tour is Nigh as in NIGH!! Vol 12
Show notes
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s been a minute, huh?
Well, Matt and Nick are back, and they’re bringing Summer Tour with them.
Today, July 7, is the start of something new. Something beautiful. Something magical. Of course, we are talking about Nick’s no shower, pink sunglasses look.
Also this evening, your favorite band (and ours) is back with more “pre-scripted setlists” for everyone to enjoy. (Oh wait. That was Vegas)
In all honesty, Matt looks great in the car, even if his mic sounds like it was purchased at a gas station.
Nick. Matt. Summer. Phish.
We are excited.
It’s like ’95 all over again, except with more Botox.

Dreaming of a drive up to Stowe (maybe the Trapp Family Lodge in the Mountains)
Could be a show from a resort of Elitist Phans in Mexico

No Phish this Month (You can catch Trey Though)
Show notes
On today’s Insuphishient, Nick proposes a Phish museum in a location still unknown to cartographers, while Matt bravely defends Burlington from a man wearing what appears to be haunted wallpaper. A nearby bag of Tube Sand files for royalties, Paige’s sleeves issue no comment, and somewhere in Maine, Fishman is believed to be composing inside a tree.
The Syracuse discussion begins normally, which is how everyone knows something has gone wrong. Drowned remains missing. Frankenstein suffers a mechanical failure. Walfredo people are asked to remain calm.
Next time on Insuphishient:
Nick buys Nectar’s and moves it.
Matt finds out the shirt is listening.
And Trey’s pants get their own segment.

Yanked on your tunic Vol 9
Show notes
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Insuphishient, the only podcast brave enough to ask, “What if two men with access to microphones used that power almost smartly ?”
Big news tonight. Trey Anastasio’s acoustic tour is officially underway, which means across America, theaters are filling up with emotionally available Phish fans pretending they are there for “the arrangements” and not to stare lovingly at a wooden chair and whisper, “This is art.”
Meanwhile, back here in the laboratory, Matt has brought facts, Nick has brought confidence, and together they have created the kind of episode normally only heard by people who fall asleep wearing cargo shorts in a Subaru.
Tonight’s show has everything. Opinions. Questions. Wild certainty about things no one can prove. The kind of energy that says, “We did not prepare, but we did arrive.” Somewhere in the distance, a setlist is being judged. Somewhere closer, a grown man is overexplaining a jam as if he has been called to testify before Congress.
And let me say this. Trey is out there on an acoustic tour, stripping it all down, baring his soul, giving the people intimacy, vulnerability, and craft. And here, in beautiful contrast, Matt and Nick are doing whatever this is.
So tune in. Settle down. Lower your expectations just enough to enjoy yourself.
This is (Insuphishient.)

Phun Intended Episode (IX)
Show notes
The scene is:
Nick is in NYC for the Mike D show. But in his headphones he hears:
Phish! - All we really want is - Phish - And in the morning it’s - Phish - And in the evening it’s - Phish
The voice over:
"Good evening. This is Insuphishient.
Tonight, a nation turns its lonely ears to Matt and Nick, two men standing at the crossroads of public service and "public service"."
The headlines:
Deep Voice Trey remains under investigation.
CUT!
And also:
And at Walnut Creek, rain fell, Stash slayed, Foam got beatboxed, and Ghost was once again treated with the suspicion normally reserved for unmarked vans and room temperature shrimp.
Matt is Matt.
Nick is Nick.
The facts are Doing it LIVE.
and The Phish remains undefeated. And that’s the way it (insufficiently) is.

The Five (Below)
Show notes
Today’s episode of Insuphishient may be the greatest episode these two fools have ever put together.
For the first five minutes, Matt does deep breathing exercises while Nick reenacts a 1994 setlist by yodeling the jam parts.
Then, once all that “gold” settles down, the boys get to the real heart of the matter:
Who stole KOA negative 3.248?
By now, you can tell Nick is writing this update and his coffee has not really kicked in. So the question remains:
Why are you still reading?
The answer might scare you.
Just (kidding). None of that has happened, none of that will ever happen, and you are not, in fact, even Been reading this right now.
Today’s show is good though.

Show notes
Still Matt, still Nick, still doing this bit
Still Phish on the brain, still the takes don’t quit
Still walking in late with a half baked plan
Still yelling “Is this thing on?” like a confident manStill lot food smoke, still lawn chair throne
Still one weird Tory on a burner phone
Still chasing the jam, still missing the point
Still turning the podcast into a parking lot jointNew ep, same mess, same beautiful crime
Matt brought the notes and Nick lost the time
So ride with the boys, let the nonsense begin
It’s Insuphishient, still weird as sin.If you are new always listen to the latest show first!
