Should I Stay After an Affair? How to Know if You're Safe to Stay | Ep. 5
Season 1, Episode 5
Show notes
Should you stay after an affair — or go? In this episode, we walk through the seven questions that helped us know whether we were safe: Is the affair really over? Is your spouse honest? Are they taking extreme ownership? Do they understand the why? Is their remorse real? Are they becoming a new person? And are they putting you ahead of themselves?
Plus the honest ending: sometimes the answer is no.
You don't have to decide today — but you do deserve to know if you're safe.

The #1 Cause of Affairs: Limerence | Ep. 4
Season 1, Episode 4
Show notes
Limerence is the #1 cause of affairs — and most people have never even heard the word.
In this episode, we explain what limerence actually is, why it feels exactly like love, and how it finally fades. If you've ever wondered why an affair can feel so real, or why you (or your spouse) couldn't just walk away — this is the missing piece.
Limerence isn't love. Love is self-sacrificial; love doesn't have casualties. Limerence is what happens when a deep wound around your own value gets handed to another person to fix — and it feels like medicine until it wrecks everything it touches.
We talk honestly about what it feels like from inside it, what it looks like from the other side of the marriage, and what actually helped it end: severance, distance, total honesty, accountability — and healing the wound underneath, so you're not desperate for someone else's validation.

Rebuilding Trust after an Affair | Ep. 3
Season 1, Episode 3
Show notes
How to rebuild trust after cheating — what actually worked for us. Trust isn't a decision you make; it's a reaction to the way you've been treated by your spouse. We're Katie and Erik, we survived an affair and now we're taking what we've learned and sharing with others. For us trust was one of the hardest things to rebuild — not because we didn't want to, but because we spent the first stretch using the wrong tools: promises, timelines, and remorse that looked the part but changed nothing. In this episode we break down the 3 pillars of trust after infidelity — authenticity, empathy, and rational thought — why trickle truth resets the clock every time, and the difference between forgiveness and trust that almost every couple gets wrong. If you're asking "can trust be rebuilt after an affair?" — yes. But not with promises. With verifiable behavior, consistently, over time.If you're in the middle of betrayal trauma right now — whether you were cheated on or did the cheating — there is hope here.🤍 Start your own recovery: katieanderik.com — new episodes every Tuesday.

Why do good people have affairs? | Ep. 2
Season 1, Episode 2
Show notes
Why would a good person have an affair? If you're trying to rebuild after infidelity and you can't make sense of what happened — what your spouse did, or what you did — this conversation is for you. We're Katie and Erik. We've lived on both sides of this question. In this episode we take on the thing almost every betrayed spouse gets stuck on: I thought I married a good person. So how could this happen? Here's what we've learned walking through our own affair recovery and hundreds of other stories since: we've never met someone who got married planning to trick their spouse and cheat. What we find, every single time, are hurt people. To be clear: understanding why doesn't erase what happened. There are real consequences for infidelity, and betrayal trauma is real. Healing starts when you get curious instead of condemning, and trace the behavior back to the injury underneath it. We also get honest about the spiritual side: the lies we believed ("you're not good enough"), why "the devil made me do it" keeps people stuck, and what shifted when we stopped believing God loved everyone except us. If your marriage is in the aftermath of an affair, there is hope here. We've lived it, and we're still standing — stronger than before.🤍 Start your own recovery: katieanderik.com

Our Story: Infidelity, Shame, Faith, and Rebuilding Our Marriage | Ep. 1
Season 1, Episode 1
Show notes
An affair can shatter a marriage. But sometimes the story begins long before the affair itself—with shame, secrecy, and the fear of not being good enough.
In our first episode, we're sharing our story: Katie's affair, the impact it had on our marriage, and the difficult journey toward rebuilding trust.
Katie opens up about growing up feeling unseen, learning to hide the parts of herself she was ashamed of, and struggling with the gap between who she wanted people to believe she was and how she truly felt inside. She also shares a pivotal moment in therapy when she experienced a new understanding of her identity and worth through her faith in Jesus.
Together, we talk about the pain and loss that came with infidelity, the importance of honesty and accountability, and why we believe our marriage is stronger today because we stopped avoiding the hard things and committed to working through them.
We're not sharing our story because recovery was easy or because the pain was worth it. We're sharing it because we know how lonely affair recovery can be—and we want others facing betrayal to know they're not alone.
This is the beginning of our conversations about infidelity, Christian faith, emotional healing, rebuilding trust, and what it takes to create a more honest relationship after betrayal.
We're Katie and Erik, and we're glad you're here.
