Why Kegels AREN'T the Answer: Pelvic Floor Healing 1-2 Years Postpartum | Ep. 164
Season 4, Episode 164
Show notes
Still leaking when you sneeze and quietly assuming that's just your life now, even though you may not be FRESH postpartum? Or faithfully doing your Kegels and wondering why NOTHING is actually getting better? Then BUCKLE UP mom friend!!!
This week I sat down with Christina of Tighten Your Tinkler to talk about the pelvic floor conversation nobody continues past those early postpartum months. We get into why Kegels are so often the wrong answer, the real difference between a weak and a tight pelvic floor (and why it completely changes what you should be doing), why pain during sex can show up a year or two later out of nowhere, and whether it's ever truly too late to fix this stuff. If you've been pushing through and hoping it just resolves on its own, this one might change your mind.
In this episode, we dive into:
• does online pelvic floor therapy actually work without an internal assessment
• why nobody talks about the pelvic floor after the postpartum period ends
• can pelvic floor problems cause painful sex a year or two later
• What is the difference between a weak pelvic floor and a tight pelvic floor
• how do you know if you have a tight or weak pelvic floor
• is it ever too late to fix pelvic floor issues or do you need surgery
• a good first step if you are leaking or feeling tight
• why Kegels are not the answer for most moms
• what happens to your pelvic floor at 60 or 70 if you ignore it now
• what actually counts as the postpartum period
• why pelvic floor symptoms come back with the next pregnancy---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sibling Transitions: Preparing Your Kid for a New Baby | Ep. 158
Season 4, Episode 158
Show notes
No matter how much you prep them, the transition to a new sibling is going to be hard. You can absolutely make it easier, and I did a lot of things that I think really helped, but there's no such thing as an easy transition for a kid whose whole world just changed.
In this episode I'm walking through everything we did to prepare our older two for their baby brother, from how we talked about him during pregnancy all the way through what's been happening at home now that the newborn novelty has worn off and the reality of mom's attention being split three ways is setting in. I get into why we chose not to bring our kids to the hospital, what it looked like when they met him for the first time at home, and the one thing we say yes to almost every time because I think it's made a bigger difference than anything else.
In this episode, we dive into:
• How to prep the kids before baby gets here
• How to prep the kids for you being at the hospital
• How to introduce them to the baby
• How our transition is going nowand more!

How to Choose the Right Family Car for Your Growing Family (Without Overpaying) with The Car Coach | Ep. 153
Season 3, Episode 153
Show notes
If you're stressed about buying a car with kids because it might just be the most overwhelming grown-up thing there is, this episode is for you!
For this week's episode, I brought in Lauren Fix, The Car Coach, and asked her all the questions you're too embarrassed to ask: minivan vs SUV (and are minivans really less safe?), how many car seats actually fit across a back seat, leasing vs buying, and the dealer tricks that quietly cost families thousands. Come walk into that dealership knowing more than the salesperson.
We dive deep into:
• Where to even START when you have no idea (your kids' ages, road trips, and all the GEAR)
• Minivan vs SUV vs full-size, and whether minivans are really the "less safe" option
• How many car seats actually fit across a back seat, and the latch system nobody explains
• The safety features genuinely worth it when you've got littles riding along
• New vs used, and the ONE check you should never skip on a used car
• Leasing vs buying, and the mileage number that basically decides it for you
• The two discounts dealers are hoping you never ask for
• What to say a hard NO to once you're in the finance office
• Never pay retail: how to walk in prepared, and when to just walk away----------------------------------------------------------------------------
