  1. [Special Episode] Is Your Membership Stuck in "The Void"? Here's How to Escape it!

    Show notes

⭐ MEMBERSHIP GROWTH LAB IS ENROLLING NOW! ⭐

    https://membershipgrowthlab.com

Work with me in a small group to take your membership from a trickle of sales to steady growth, any month you want.

    In this episode:

They showed you how to launch a membership. There's even more people telling you how to get hundreds, even thousands of new members...

But almost nobody talks about the stage in between: I call it The VOID. (Dramatic, I know!)

This is when you have a few dozen members but you can't seem to break through to 100 and you're unsure of what it really takes.

In this episode, I’m breaking down exactly what’s required to get out of the void and grow to your 100 member milestone.

🎉 Fifty episodes in, I'm taking you behind the scenes of something I've never done before: launching my own group offer, with me in the driver's seat.

After a decade of writing launch campaigns for other people's memberships and courses, I'm promoting Membership Growth Lab publicly for the first time.

It's been a wonderfully busy season that has taught me a lot about what it really takes to promote with staying power.

In this episode, I'm sharing the trade-offs I've made, the skills I'm still building, and the kind of support that's made the biggest difference.

If you're growing your membership and want it to become a bigger part of your business, these lessons will help you decide where your time and energy should go next.

    We'll cover:

    • How to decide what stays on your promotion list when your ambitions are bigger than your capacity (and why the answer is hiding inside your membership)
    • Why promoting your membership is a skill you build, and what the "let it be easy" message gets wrong
    • The difference between support with strategy and support with decisions, and why you need both during a promotion
    • What it means to become a membership-driven business owner, and how the work you do for your membership strengthens everything else in your business

  3. 49: How Stephanie Doubled Her Monthly Membership Sales (& Grew to 1500+ Members)

    Show notes

What does it actually look like to double your membership enrollment without a traditional launch — and when you already have 1,000+ members? This episode is the answer.

Stephanie Stollar built the Reading Science Academy into one of the most trusted resources for educators learning about the science of reading.

By the time she came to work with me, she had over 1,000 members, a great marketing team, three books under her belt, and a speaking calendar that was anything but empty.

And yet: she couldn't tell me how she was selling her membership or what was actually working... which meant she didn't know what to do next to grow it.

In this conversation, Stephanie shares exactly what it looked and felt like to get strategic about growing a membership that was already wildly successful — including the uncomfortable parts.

    We cover:

    • Why being deeply in demand can actually work against your membership growth (and what Stephanie had to confront about her own calendar)
    • The first conversation that made it crystal clear: successful doesn't always mean strategic
    • How activator events became the foundation of Stephanie's new sales system — and what doubled her monthly enrollment average
    • What it felt like to try a webinar launch for the first time in years, with 2,500 educators showing up for it
    • The shift from doing everything yourself to letting your team carry the execution — and how to stay involved in the right way
    • Why tracking your numbers changes everything (even if spreadsheets don't spark joy)
    • Stephanie's advice for anyone who has grown their membership through grit alone and is ready for what comes next

If you have a membership that's doing well but suspect you're leaving growth on the table, this one's for you.

  4. 48: Membership vs Group vs Mastermind (And How Selling Them is Different)

    Show notes

A membership is a category, not a complete description of your offer.

Memberships can range from a $19 monthly content offer to a multi-thousand-dollar annual commitment with high-touch support. They may all technically sit under the same umbrella, but the buying decision behind each one can be completely different.

In this episode, I’m breaking down why your sales strategy needs to be built around the specific membership you have, not a generic formula for how memberships are “supposed” to sell.

    We’ll cover:

    • Why asking “How do I sell my membership?” can lead you in the wrong direction, and the better question to start with instead
    • How price and commitment level change the buying decision, including how much runway, trust, proof, and interaction someone may need before saying yes
    • Why positioning becomes increasingly important as your price rises, and when personal conversations or higher-touch sales assets actually make sense
    • How your membership model changes your expectations around churn and renewal, and why another membership’s numbers may have very little to do with yours
    • Where the ongoing value of your membership should live, especially as buyers move from wanting more content to valuing access, feedback, personalization, and proximity

If your current sales strategy feels harder than it should, the answer may not be another funnel, launch tactic, or promotional idea. It may be that the way you’re selling simply doesn’t match the buying decision behind your offer.

When you build the sales system around your actual membership, its price, commitment, positioning, and value, you can stop chasing generic advice and start creating a buying process that makes sense for both you and your members.

  5. 47: Are Memberships The "Hardest" Offer to Sell?

    Show notes

Are memberships really the hardest offer to sell... or do they just expose the skills you haven’t had to build yet?

There’s no shortage of strong opinions about memberships online.

Some people will tell you they’re the easiest path to recurring revenue. Others will tell you they’re exhausting, impossible to grow and not worth the effort.

The truth, as usual, is a little more nuanced...

  6. 46: How Tim Added a Membership to His Established Business (and Grew to 600+ Members in Year One)

    Show notes

What if the membership that grows your revenue could also make your business feel lighter?

When Tim and his co-founder Lea launched Mission AI, more than 400 members joined straight away.

But after that first successful launch, his question wasn’t simply, “How do we do this again?” It was how to make sure this membership could still feel exciting, valuable, and sustainable five years from now.

In this episode, Tim joins me to unpack what happened behind the scenes as Mission AI grew to nearly 700 members, with monthly churn below 2%. We talk about the mindset shifts that helped him add far less to the membership than he originally planned, create stronger member engagement, and build recurring revenue that has completely changed how his business feels.

    We’ll cover:

    • Why Tim wanted recurring revenue even though his launches were already successful, and how the membership gave him more choice inside his business
    • The one question that completely changed how he thought about delivering value, and helped him avoid building a “Netflix-style” membership packed with endless new content
    • How designing for member action instead of consumption changed Mission AI’s onboarding, including the small win members can experience almost immediately
    • Why building the membership around Tim and Lea’s actual lives matters, and how clear roles, boundaries, and fewer deliverables have made the offer more sustainable
    • What Tim has learned about growth, experimentation, and cringe, including why discomfort can be a sign that you’re moving in the right direction

If you already have a successful business and you’re thinking about adding a membership, this conversation is a reminder that the goal isn’t simply to bolt recurring revenue onto what you already do. It’s to build an offer that creates results for your members, expands your options, and still feels like a business you want to be running years from now.

  7. 45: The Membership Decisions You’ve Been Avoiding

    Show notes

Does your membership feel heavier than it should... even when you’re not actively promoting it?

Memberships are always on. Even when you’re not launching, questions about when to sell, what strategy to use, which goal to pursue, and how your membership fits alongside your other offers can linger in the background and slow you down.

That is the weight of unmade decisions.

In the final episode of the 4-part Return to Form series, I’m exploring what needs to happen after the creative spark returns. Because fresh ideas and renewed excitement can only take you so far.

To sustain your momentum, your membership needs a plan that gives your ideas somewhere to land.

    We’ll cover:

    • The signs that you’re stuck in “promo vision”: moving from one promotion to the next without a bigger growth strategy guiding you
    • How to set a meaningful membership goal that stretches you without hurting your own feelings or demanding an unsustainable version of you
    • Why your numbers should guide your next move, rather than copying another membership owner’s strategy or chasing every new promotional idea
    • The assets and baseline activities that support growth between promotions, so you're not rebuilding your momentum from scratch every time you sell
    • Why commitment makes creativity sustainable, and how making decisions in advance can help your promotions feel lighter

If you want your membership to become a steadier, more intentional part of your business, rather than an offer you scramble to promote once or twice a year, this episode will help you turn renewed creativity into a realistic plan you can commit to... even through the wobbly days!

  8. 44: The Membership Commodity Trap (and How to Escape it)

    Show notes

What if answering “Why should I choose you?” has less to do with finding the perfect words... and more to do with making the answer self-evident?

When someone is already inside your membership, you know how to support them. The harder part is reaching the people who are still deciding whether to follow you, trust you, or take that first step into your world.

In this third episode of the Return to Form series, I’m exploring how to make choosing you feel like a natural next step — without constantly explaining, proving, or convincing people that your membership is worth joining!

The answer comes down to three things: identity, your point of view, and an anthem.

    We’ll cover:

    • Why people are buying more than an outcome when they join your membership, and how to show them the version of themselves they can become inside your world
    • How a clear point of view differentiates your membership from a sea of similar offers and strengthens your own belief in what you sell
    • Why every membership promotion needs an anthem (and you need to figure this out before you start planning your next launch or writing another email)
    • How to balance repetition with fresh creative angles so you can keep selling an established membership without feeling stale or starting from zero

If you want your next membership promotion to feel less like proving your value and more like inviting already-aligned people into a world they genuinely want to be part of, this episode will help you build the creative clarity that makes choosing you feel a no-brainer.

  9. 43: A New Way to Think About Selling Your Membership

    Show notes

What would change about how you promote your membership if you knew you'd be selling it for the next 70 years?

That's exactly what brands like Gucci have done... finding fresh, exciting ways to sell the same iconic products for decades. And in this second installment of the Return to Form series, I'm borrowing from their playbook to help you get your creative spark back for marketing an established membership.

If you've been going through the motions with your promotions, focusing on getting everything "right" instead of infusing your marketing with what makes you magnetic, this episode will shake some new ideas loose!

I'm sharing two powerful prompts (with plenty of examples) to help you start thinking like someone who's building a world people want to step into... not just a membership people join.

    We'll cover:

    • How Tom Ford revived a languishing Gucci by looking inward instead of chasing trends (and what that means for how you position your membership)
    • The 30-second exercise that reconnects you to your membership's values and makes your marketing more fun to create
    • Why imagining your membership as a physical space unlocks promotional ideas you'd never find in a swipe file
    • How visuals, tone, and curation shape the feeling of your world, and why that feeling is what members are really buying

  10. 42: The Membership Rut is Real - And You Can Grow Through It Anyway

    Show notes

You can be in a rut with your membership marketing and still grow it anyway.

If you've been feeling uninspired about how you talk about and sell your membership, like you've said it all before and you're not sure what fresh thing there is to say, you’re going to love the new series I’m kicking off on the podcast (and newsletter) called Return to Form.

    This is Volume #1!

📌 Join the Membership-Driven newsletter (it’s free) for exclusive instalments of the Return to Form series: https://themissingink.co/newsletter

We’re talking about how to get your excitement back for how you promote and grow your membership - without reinventing everything, breaking what already works, or waiting until you have all the answers.

Because being in a rut doesn't preclude you from growing. It just means we need to look at what's actually going on, and take the next right step from there.

    We'll cover:

    • The uncomfortable truth about what it takes to grow a membership consistently (and why most of us are operating from an unrealistic expectation)
    • How much of your month do you actually feel good? What the math really tells us about "being in a rut"
    • How to stop giving the rut more power than it deserves and move forward with growing your membership even when you don’t feel 100% ah-mazing
    • Why waiting for an epiphany is holding you back from growing your membership, and how to find the right thread to follow instead
    • Is your rut actually a structural problem? The difference between a performance issue and a pressure issue
    • My activators, accelerators and accessories framework: how to bring more variety and repetition to how you grow your membership

If you've been waiting to feel inspired before you take the next step in growing your membership, this episode will help you stop waiting and move forward.

  11. 41: 1000 Members... Now What? (How to Grow an Already Successful Membership)

    Show notes

Growing a membership past 1,000 members requires a radically different playbook than the one that got you there... and most of the advice online simply isn't built for your level of success.

If you've built a membership with a thousand members or more, you've probably noticed that the conversations happening publicly are aimed at beginners chasing their first 50 members.

Meanwhile, you're navigating questions nobody seems to be answering: which opportunities deserve your attention, why growth is slowing despite doing everything "right," and how to break through the plateau you keep bumping against.

In this episode, I'm peeling back the curtain on the private work I do with membership owners at this level. You'll hear exactly where I look first, what I typically find, and how your focus needs to shift when you're no longer building... you're optimizing a machine that already works.

    We'll cover:

    • Why you're out of the "building" phase and into the "unearthing" phase, and why the answers to your growth are now hiding inside your business instead of outside it
    • The two O's I work through with every private client: optimizing your go-to sales system and identifying the right opportunities to layer on (before you ever touch a new tactic)
    • The two types of disconnection that almost always affect membership owners at scale, and how each one impacts your marketing, your sales, and your fire for the work
    • Why your existing strategy might need a new face, including the campaign concept that has enrolled thousands of members for one client over five-plus years
    • How your role changes at this level of growth (and why it's going to feel deeply uncomfortable before it feels like a relief!)

  12. 40: Your Membership is Awesome. Why Can't You Explain It?

    Show notes

You know the magic is happening inside your membership. You can feel it in every breakthrough, every thank you note, every resource that becomes a member favorite.

But the moment you sit down to write a sales post or explain what your membership is about, you feel at a loss for words.

If your retention is strong but your sales aren't matching, this episode is about the translation problem sitting between your incredible membership and the people who haven't joined yet.

I'm sharing three practical ways to make your membership feel more tangible to potential members, so they can finally *get it* from the outside looking in.

    We'll cover:

    • Why strong memberships often underperform in sales and the translation gap between what you know about your offer and what a potential member understands
    • Three ways to make your membership more tangible so people actually feel the pull to join (especially if your membership has a lot of intangible features or outcomes)

  13. 39: 3 BIG Membership Sales Blockers That Stop People From Joining

    Show notes

You have an amazing membership. You know it, your members know it, and the results speak for themselves... so why does it feel like your sales don't reflect that?

If you've been putting in the work to promote your membership and people clearly love what you do behind the scenes, but new members just aren't joining at the volume you'd expect, this episode will help you figure out why.

I'm walking you through the three most common reasons your membership might not be converting even though it’s excellent, and what to do about each one.

Whether your offer has always been a slow burn or things have cooled off recently, these are the shifts that will help you close the gap between the magic happening inside your membership and the way people experience it from the outside.

    We'll cover:

    • Why brilliant membership owners still struggle to sell their offer and the difference between making content and making a sales argument
    • The three blockers that keep amazing memberships from converting (foggy offers, unappealing positioning, and lack of urgency) and how to fix each one
    • How to make the experience of your membership feel enticing so people want to step inside your space, not just access your information
    • Activator events and why they're the antidote to "I'll join later" energy (and why even "Beyoncé-level" memberships need them)

If your membership feels like a no-brainer to you but your audience keeps driving by, this episode will show you exactly where the disconnect is and how to fix it.

You're out there creating content, sending emails, showing up on social media, being so generous with your expertise... and wondering why people aren't joining your membership at the rate you'd expect.

Here's what might be happening: you're giving tips when you should be sharing your point of view.

In this episode, I'm making the case that tips are dead as a membership sales strategy in 2026.

The thing that will make people choose you, stay with you, and see your membership as the only option for them is your unique perspective on how to solve the problem you solve.

And the good news? You're already sitting on it.

We'll cover how your point of view becomes your most powerful sales tool (and why no tactic or strategy works without it), how to turn your opinions and expertise into branded frameworks that differentiate your membership, and why leaning into your perspective makes your business feel alive again, especially when the marketing starts to feel stale.

  15. 37: Schrodinger's Membership (AKA: Your Membership Identity Crisis)

    Show notes

Your membership isn't dead... but is it truly alive?

If your membership feels like it's in a state of suspended reality, where things aren't falling apart but they're definitely not thriving, this episode is your diagnostic.

Before you look at sales strategies, repositioning, or messaging fixes, there's a deeper question to answer first... are you actually sold on your own membership? Because it's incredibly hard to grow an offer you're not fully bought into.

In this episode, I'm walking you through the three sneaky things that create resistance to selling your membership, and why resolving them can be so much faster (and less dramatic) than you think.

    We'll cover:

    • The concept of "Schrödinger's Membership" and why so many membership owners are stuck in a fuzzy middle ground with their offer
    • The three things to address before you touch your sales strategy (and why tackling them first makes everything else easier)
    • Why your membership needs its own lane and the dangerous pattern of replicating your higher-priced offers at a lower price point

  16. 36: When The Vibe Feels "Off" in Your Membership (and You're Questioning Everything)

    Show notes

You know that feeling when something's just *off* inside your membership?

Members aren't engaging the way you'd hoped, the energy feels flat, and you're starting to wonder if the whole thing needs an overhaul?

Before you raise the price, restructure the offer, or spiral into second-guessing everything you've built, there are three practical things you can do to bring the vibe back to life.

In this episode, I'm walking you through what's really going on when your membership feels off, why your instincts to "do more" or "back off completely" are both leading you astray, and the three shifts that will help you reconnect with your members and sell your membership with confidence again.

    We'll cover:

    • Why memberships have a completely different engagement style than group programs or 1:1 work, and how mismatched expectations are messing with your head
    • Why your first instinct when the vibe feels off (do more OR back off) is almost always wrong
    • The two-part internal structure every membership needs and how to tell if yours has gaps
    • How to bring your philosophy and point of view into the room so members actually feel the energy you're known for
    • The connection question that will help you rediscover what makes your membership fun to run (and irresistible to join)

If you've been sensing that something feels a little flat inside your membership but you can't quite put your finger on it, this episode will help you fix it without blowing everything up.

  17. 35: How Michelle Quit Quarterly Membership Launches and is Getting BETTER Results

    Show notes

There's a crucial difference between knowing how to launch and knowing how to grow a membership sustainably, and understanding this distinction will change the way you sell.

If you've been caught in a cycle where each launch catches you by surprise, each promotion feels like starting from scratch, or you're constantly winging it with your membership growth, this episode is for you.

My brilliant client Dr. Michelle Mazur is joining me to share how she grew her annual membership, The Expert Up Club, into a $10K/month revenue stream — and the work we did together to create more organized, strategic membership growth instead of “flying by the seat of her pants” (in Michelle’s words!) with quarterly launches.

Michelle works with consultants and service providers to make marketing suck less through powerful messaging and positioning work, and she's applied those same principles to refine how she promotes her own membership.

    We'll cover:

🔹 How we re-worked Michelle's membership growth strategy so she could launch differently without sacrificing her results

🔹 The new sales assets that Michelle can re-mix and reuse across the year to grow her membership, instead of always starting from scratch

🔹 What changed to help Michelle hit her highest number of sign-ups ever for a promotional event that led into her launch... and a 48% live show-up rate {which is truly bananas}.

🔹 How Michelle is hitting her enrollment goals and creating more predictable launch results... without guessing or scrambling to pull everything together at the last minute.

🎧 Listen in to hear how Michelle made her membership her core revenue driver and what we've done to dial in the way she is growing it.

Michelle's promotions are getting more attention than ever before, and her launches don't kick her ass like they used to (in her words)!

I've had a ton of fun supporting her growth and I think you'll learn a lot from her story.

  18. 34: Accidental or On Purpose? Taking Control of Your Membership Revenue

    Show notes

Does your membership revenue feel random? You're working hard behind the scenes, your members are happy, but when it comes to growing your income and hitting your goals, things feel unpredictable.

If you've been frustrated by plateaued growth or can't seem to break out of the "nice little baseline" zone with your membership, let's talk about what you can do differently!

In this episode, I'm walking you through the three critical mindset and operational shifts that separate membership owners who are just maintaining from those who are truly membership-driven.

It's time to stop guessing your way through growth.

    We'll cover:

    • The three shifts from treating your membership like a side offer to becoming truly membership-driven
    • Why your super fans might be holding you back from attracting new members (and what to do about it)
    • The difference between knowing your numbers and guessing at growth strategies
    • How to stop the cycle of trying everything without knowing what actually works

If you're ready to move from accidental growth to intentional, predictable revenue with your membership, this episode is for you.

💘💘💘 P.S. I'm hosting a free workshop on February 12th, 2026 where we'll map out your compelling 12-month membership tier together. Whether you plan to offer it or not, this exercise will transform how you sell and deliver your membership.

  19. 33: How to Grow Your Membership Revenue Without Adding More New Members

    Show notes

What if building one skill could simultaneously improve how you sell your membership, enhance your member experience, boost retention, AND give you clearer revenue forecasting?

That skill is learning how to position a compelling 12-month membership tier... even if you have no plans to actually offer one.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why thinking through an annual membership offer will make you better at selling and retaining members across every pricing tier, plus open up revenue opportunities you might not be seeing right now.

Whether you currently offer monthly-only, already have an annual tier that nobody buys, or you're curious about adding longer-term commitments to your membership, this episode will shift how you think about long-term value and member journeys.

    We'll cover:

    • Why approximately 20% of your audience would love to pay you upfront for a year (and how this changes your cashflow and forecasting)
    • The difference between pathway and ritual in your membership (and why this clarity makes you better at selling monthly plans too)
    • How mapping a 12-month member journey forces you to improve your experience and retention behind the scenes
    • The three ways to grow revenue from annual commitments beyond just selling them upfront
    • Why vague membership growth goals keep you guessing (and how to set strategic, specific targets instead)

If you want to grow your membership revenue this year through more than just adding new members, understanding annual positioning is the strategic advantage you've been missing.

  20. 32: Cart Open? How to Spend Your Time While Promoting Your Membership

    Show notes

If you've ever found yourself stress-cleaning your business during a promotion (or fantasizing about becoming a seaside barista), this episode is your lighthouse.

Running a membership promotion can trigger completely normal anxiety and discomfort. The vulnerability of putting yourself out there, the white-knuckle grip on your sales dashboard, the voice in your head questioning everything... it's a lot.

This episode is designed to be a life raft for anyone actively promoting their membership right now, or preparing for one.

Because in 2026, we can't take a passive approach to selling anymore. You need to be engaged during your promotion, but in the right ways - so you can get the most out of your launch without making yourself miserable in the process.

    We'll cover:

    • 2 ways to create a feeling of steadiness instead of anxiety during your promotions (even when it doesn't go as planned)
    • How to turn your attention outward instead of obsessing over internal stories your brain spins during a promotion
    • The 3 practical levers you can pull during an active promotion so you can spend your time productively and close more sales
    • Specific strategies for different membership types based on your price point and audience size
    • Why every promotion builds currency beyond just new member sales (and how to collect that currency intentionally, every single time you sell)

    Episode highlights:

    • 01:21 the stress-cleaning analogy and why launches trigger our most anxious behaviors
    • 04:33: who do you need to BE during a promotion? (This changes everything)
    • 05:50: why even 7-figure membership owners can be untethered during promotions (and what that teaches us)
    • 12:42: how to practice "strategic short-sightedness" and refuse sweeping judgments mid-launch
    • 13:07: the 3 specific things to track daily during your promotion (get a launch tracking document going)
    • 14:45: the content lever: turning objections, questions, and patterns into social posts, emails, and pop-up podcast episodes
    • 15:08: "shaking the trees" when things feel quiet: who to talk to and how to start strategic conversations
    • 22:30: real client example: how one membership owner had her best enrollment in 2 years by applying these exact strategies

If you're actively promoting your membership or planning a launch, this episode will help you stay grounded, take strategic action, and avoid the temptation to stress-clean your business when things feel uncertain.
