  1. An American Moment MAHA Story (ft. Hadley Ott)

    Season 6, Episode 269

    Show notes

At twelve years old, Hadley Ott weighed 53 pounds and was told he would be sick for the rest of his life. For the next fourteen years, he lived the way doctors told him to — steroids, feeding tubes, infusions every six weeks, and eventually surgery to remove part of his intestine.

Then one day in April 2024, he walked out of his doctor’s office and never went back.

Hadley is an American Moment alum who worked at the White House Council of Economic Advisers before leaving D.C. to write Drug-Free Crohn’s, the story of what happened when he walked away from the mainstream medical establishment and took his health into his own hands. He sits down with Nick to talk about the moment he decided to bet on himself, what he did instead, and why he believes a medical system built around managing symptoms has convinced millions of Americans they can never get better.

  2. Excuse Me! What Is The Orphan Tax? (ft. Alex Adams)

    Season 6, Episode 268

    Show notes

When a child loses a parent, Social Security pays them a survivor benefit their mom or dad earned through years of work. But if that child ends up in foster care, many states have been quietly taking that money for themselves. Tim Walz once said those benefits gave him dignity growing up. Minnesota is still one of 13 hold-out states stealing these funds from orphans today.

Assistant Secretary Alex Adams is trying to put an end to it. The “Orphan Tax” is only one of the messes he inherited at the Administration for Children and Families, but since his arrival, the ACF has become one of the most talked-about departments in all of HHS, both for their ruthless red tape cutting and also for their focus on children’s wellbeing.

The Biden administration left behind childcare rules that paid providers before kids ever showed up, a foster care rule that sorted families by whether the government deemed them LGBTQ friendly, mask mandates at Head Start long after COVID, and regulations that drove the program’s budget up while enrollment dropped by a third. Adams walks Nick through everything he inherited, and what he’s doing to clean it up.

  3. American Scapegoat (ft. TJ Harker)

    Season 6, Episode 267

    Show notes

"What happens when the actual evidence doesn't match up with the developing public narrative?"

That's what the chief medical examiner in the George Floyd case reportedly asked a prosecutor the day after the autopsy. When former federal prosecutor TJ Harker read that line in a 2023 deposition, every alarm bell in his head went off. He spent the next three years pulling the thread.

The result is American Scapegoat, and Harker's conclusion is one most of the country isn't ready to hear: that Derek Chauvin is innocent. Nick walks through the case with him minute by minute — what the autopsy actually found, the prosecution theory that collapsed in the middle of trial, the nine-minute delay nobody has explained, and the pills found in the squad car months later.

Agree or disagree, you'll never see that video the same way again.

  4. Special Episode: Nick Solheim on The Long March

    Season 6, Episode 266

    Show notes

This week, the tables turn. Nick sits in the guest chair on The Long March, the new podcast from our friends at New Guard Press, to talk about the thing he's spent a decade obsessing over: who actually runs the government. Why a president gets 4,500 appointees to steer two million employees. Why most members of Congress never read the bills they vote on. And why a car mechanic who's read everything Michael Anton ever wrote might be a better hire than a Yale grad.

He also gives away one of his favorite interview questions — so if you're applying to American Moment, listen closely (but you won't be able to use his answer.)

  5. One Wyoming Woman VS The World (ft. Rep. Harriet Hageman)

    Season 6, Episode 265

    Show notes

The next time you pass a semi on the interstate, you might want to ask yourself who's behind the wheel. Congresswoman Harriet Hageman did, and she uncovered a quiet crisis among America’s truckers.

It started with a phone call from her nephew, a Wyoming rancher who kept seeing wrecked trucks on I-80 and drivers who couldn't speak a word of English. That call sent her down a rabbit hole of CDL mills, chameleon carriers, and blue states handing out commercial licenses with almost no questions asked. Now she's become the closest thing truckers have to a champion in Congress. But Hageman didn't spend 34 years as a trial attorney in Wyoming to stay in one lane. She also goes after the climate lawsuits targeting American energy, sets the record straight on beef prices, and explains how lax surrogacy laws have opened a back door for birth tourism.

Meet the congresswoman from Wyoming who is taking on the world.

  6. This One Is For the Lawyers (ft. Andrew Kloster)

    Season 6, Episode 264

    Show notes

Andrew Kloster has been inside the conservative legal movement since long before President Trump came down the golden escalator and reoriented movement towards untouchable issues like immigration and tariffs. He’s been in the biggest right-wing think tanks, legal groups, and even the White House itself. And he’s not blackpilling, so why should you be?

Andrew sits down with Nick to take stock of where the movement actually stands. What's working, why nobody should care about Chevron as much as the donor class does, and why the recent losses on tariffs and birthright citizenship are really an indictment of a Congress that refuses to do its job. It also gets practical. If Democrats take the House, what happens to political appointees? Who gets targeted, who doesn't, and why the people who jump ship between now and November are telling you exactly who they are. Plus the case for fighting lawfare with lawfare — and why crying uncle only works after you've thrown a punch.

If you're a young lawyer or appointee, this one is required listening.

  7. The Senate Masterclass

    Season 6, Episode 263

    Show notes

Have you ever wondered how the United States Senate actually works — and why it so often doesn’t?

This compilation pulls the sharpest moments from conversations with Vice President JD Vance, Senator Ron Johnson, Senator Roger Marshall, Senator Eric Schmitt, CPI President Ed Corrigan, Rachel Bovard, and strategist Luke Thompson.

Luke Thompson explains how McCain-Feingold gutted the parties and turned every senator into a free agent. Vice President Vance shares about his first few months in the Senate. Sen. Ron Johnson describes asking his colleagues how much the federal government spends in a year and getting blank stares. Ed Corrigan and Rachel Bovard take you inside the Wednesday steering lunches where conference decisions actually get made. And Bovard lays out the ambush quorum — dragging senators to the floor at three in the morning, over and over, until the minority breaks.

If you work on the Hill, or want to, this is the crash course nobody gave you.

  8. China is My Copilot (ft. Evan Swarztrauber & Aiden Buzzetti)

    Season 6, Episode 262

    Show notes

Microsoft spent two decades building a reputation as the good big tech company. It worked. While conservatives fought Twitter and Facebook over censorship, nobody was watching the company that quietly captured 85% of government productivity software and a third of all federal software spending.

Evan Swarztrauber and Aiden Buzzetti came in to explain what that inattention has cost us. For nearly a decade, Microsoft used Chinese engineers on Department of War cloud systems, supervised by American "digital escorts" who lacked the technical background to know what they were even looking at. The company is now deepening its AI ties in China at the exact moment the Trump administration is trying to win the AI race. And when Microsoft laid off thousands of American workers last year, it turned around and filed for nearly 3,000 H-1B visas.

They also get into the president's mail-in ballot executive order, Judge Luttig's transformation from conservative judicial star to leftist media fixture, and what the Oversight Project is uncovering on Biden's ghostwriter tapes and Maryland redistricting.

  11. Post-Liberal Burrito (ft. Jon Schweppe)

    Season 6, Episode 259

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Jon Schweppe, Senior Advisor at the American Principles Project, fresh off an 18-month stint as senior policy advisor to FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson. Jon explains what antitrust and consumer protection enforcement have actually accomplished under this administration and why the FTC's Section Five authority is one of the most underrated tools in government.

They dig deep into the sports betting industry — the VIP programs, the psychological targeting of losers, the banning of winners, and expose how these companies actually operate. The conversation turns from speculation to affordability, with a full-throated argument against "burrito gate" and the strain of conservatism that tells struggling Americans to just work harder. Jon and Nick both make the case that if the right cannot even diagnose the affordability crisis as real, it has no business calling itself a movement for working people.

  13. Ending the Grift: The Department of Labor’s War On Fraud (ft. Anthony D'Esposito)

    Season 6, Episode 257

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick is joined by the Honorable Anthony D'Esposito, Inspector General of the Department of Labor and former Congressman from New York, for a conversation about what it actually looks like to root out waste, fraud, and abuse at scale.

The Inspector General explains how the Department of Labor's IG office has one of the broadest investigative jurisdictions in the federal government and what that means for cross-department investigations, including what the Vice President’s Fraud Task Force. They also get into how unemployment insurance fraud is quietly destroying small businesses in states like California and New York to the tune of millions of dollars a day. And no conversation about labor would be complete without tearing into the topic of H-1Bs and how immigrations and corporate interests alike are manipulating the system at American citizens’ expense.

There’s lots of great stories in this one, including gangs running restaurants in Boston on stolen identities, fraud influencers posting step-by-step guides on TikTok, and why the $6.5 billion healthcare fraud takedown was the biggest in American history.

Thank you to the Inspector General and his office for the generous favor of his time to come and talk about this important work.

    Season 6, Episode 256

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Omar Pimentel, Director of Frontier Strategy at Type One Ventures and former space portfolio lead at the Defense Innovation Unit, for the show's first ever episode about space.

They cover Space Force, GPS as America's most underrated gift to the world, the threat landscape in orbit, what kinetic conflict in space would actually look like, Artemis II and the road to landing on the moon by 2028, why Administrator Jared Isaacman is doing more with the same budget, and what the plan to get to Mars actually is.

  15. Iran, Robot (ft. Will Thibeau)

    Season 6, Episode 255

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Will Thibeau, Director of the American Military Project at Claremont's DC Center for the American Way of Life, for a wide-ranging conversation on the wars reshaping American foreign policy right now.

They cover the Iran deal vs. the JCPOA, why the nuclear threat has always been more complicated than neocons made it sound, and Will explains the helpful concepts of “battlefield geometry” and “battlefield algebra” that have fundamentally changed modern warfare.

They break down why Ukraine has been able to hold Russia at bay and evaluate how Iran's cheap drones mean that destroying 90% of their combat power still leaves dangerous residual capability. They also get into autonomous weapons, the Anthropic vs. Department of War dispute, and what D.C. staffers making policy in right now need to understand about all of it.

    Season 6, Episode 254

    Show notes

Ryan rates Republicans chance of keeping the House, explains ‘midterm math,’ and walks through the Senate race by race — North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Maine, and more. He has strong opinions about the trouble in Texas, the mess in Maine, and the missteps in Michigan, and he explains what it’s going to take from Republicans to win in those hot seats.

And stick around till the end for a breakdown on the SAVE act and whether or not Republicans should force an early census to pick up some more redistricting wins.

  17. Moment of Truth Live at Reindustrialize (ft. Mark Widmar)

    Season 6, Episode 253

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick hosts a discussion with Mark Widmar, CEO of First Solar, for a live impromptu recording at the Reindustrialize conference.

First Solar is one of the most important American manufacturing success stories nobody is talking about, proving that, yes, you CAN build products in America. This semiconductor company has built six factories in the United States, employs 40,000 Americans across its supply chain, and generates $4 billion in annual payroll, all while going head to head with China on solar technology.

Mark explains how First Solar has integrated AI into manufacturing at full scale since 2022, why the average job at their facilities pays $80,000 a year, and what it actually looks like to build a factory in a community that lost everything to deindustrialization. We hope you enjoy this rare conversation with someone who is actually building things in America right now.

  18. Can The CIA Be Saved? (ft. George Beebe)

    Season 6, Episode 252

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with George Beebe, Director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute and former head of the CIA's Russia desk, for a rare insider's look at how the intelligence community actually works… and what needs to change.

George explains the real power structure of the IC and why ODNI was created to manage it all. They also get into domestic surveillance and where the legal lines actually are, how congressional oversight has become more kabuki theater than real accountability, what questions new members of the Intel committees should be asking, and how the IC can begin to rebuild trust with the American people.

If you work anywhere near these issues, or have a curiosity for how actual deep state mechanics work, this episode is required listening.

  19. The War on Truckers (ft. Gord Magill)

    Season 6, Episode 251

    Show notes

This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Gord Magill, author of End of the Road: Inside the War on Truckers, for an illuminating conversation about American labor.

Gord is a third-generation trucker from Canada who has driven across four countries and spent years figuring out why the industry that moves everything in America has become, in his words, “a complete dumpster fire." He breaks down the driver shortage narrative that the American Trucking Associations have been running since 1987… and why it has always been a lie. He also exposes the flood of non-domiciled CDLs being issued to people who don't speak English, and breaks down the big legal battles of the day with the Delilah's Law stall in Congress and the Supreme Court's Montgomery v. Caribe Bay decision.

This episode is a good reminder that behind every policy debate are legions of workers and logistics where livelihoods (and lives) are at stake.

  20. Patriots In Control At The Small Business Administration (ft. Admin. Kelly Loeffler)

    Season 6, Episode 250

    Show notes

For Moment of Truth episode 250, Nick is joined by Kelly Loeffler, Administrator of the Small Business Administration, for a live Moment of Truth event, with a special introduction by Michael Stumo of the OMB’s Made in America office.

In anticipation for America’s 250th birthday, Administrator Loeffler takes us through one of the quintessential founding tenants of our nation: the dream of ownership, exploration, and creation.

She shares the story of what she found walking in on day one of the Trump administration, including 90% of staff working from home, loan programs used as cookie jars, and what turned out to be $200 billion in fraudulent COVID-era loans that Biden's team quietly gave de facto amnesty. They also explore the reindustrialization of America, the role small manufacturers play in the defense supply chain, the fight against the Green New Deal, and why the people saying Americans won't work manufacturing jobs are completely wrong.

Thank you to the Administrator for the gracious gift of her time on this very special episode. We hope you enjoy it and send it to any of the current (or aspiring!) small business owners you know.

    Happy 250!
