  1. Israel vs. America: The Political Storm You Need to Watch

    Show notes

David Greenfield has spent more than 25 years working in politics, from his early days with Senator Joe Lieberman to serving on the New York City Council and now leading Met Council. In this episode, David sits down with his twin brother Michael to tackle one of the biggest questions facing Israel: Is Benjamin Netanyahu's time as prime minister coming to an end? David breaks down the Israeli election results, explains how political coalitions really work, and explores why the Haredi parties could determine who leads Israel next. He also examines the controversy surrounding military service for yeshiva students and the growing divisions within Israeli society.

Michael challenges David on why American Jews should care about Israeli politics, whether an individual vote can actually make a difference, and how Jewish voters should approach an increasingly complicated political landscape. David shares his predictions for the upcoming U.S. elections, weighs in on Donald Trump, and explains why he believes a Democratic wave could be coming. The brothers also explore the extraordinary possibilities and frightening risks of artificial intelligence, how AI is changing Met Council, and what it could mean for the future of jobs. Along the way, the conversation takes some unexpected turns into health, longevity, and peptides, while childhood memories, stories about their father, and the natural chemistry between two brothers bring a personal side to a conversation that goes far beyond politics.

  2. He Found a Career in the Funny Side of Orthodox Jewish Life

    Show notes

Eli Lebowicz didn’t set out to become a comedian. He was a teenager selling water at Wrigley Field, doing a Harry Caray impression to get Cubs fans to notice him, then a YU student trying stand-up for the first time at a fundraiser in 2008. Years later, after working day jobs at the OU and B&H, Eli went into comedy full time and built a career finding the humor inside Orthodox Jewish life without standing outside it and mocking it.

Michael and Ushy push Eli on what success actually means when money isn’t the only scoreboard, how far a comedian can go joking about Torah and frum life, what happens when a room doesn’t laugh, and why Jewish comedy has to be funny before it can carry a message. Eli also talks about creating sketches with Ami Kozak and Mikey Greenblatt, the possibility of a Jewish version of SNL, why AI may make human comedy more valuable, and how he turns the Parsha, Jewish history, kosher restaurants, Pesach programs and everyday frum life into material.

And before the episode ends, Eli tests a brand-new bit about Moshe Rabbeinu that may permanently change the way you think about the first shul president.

  3. Jeff Seidel: The Man Who Never Stops Looking for the Next Jew

    Show notes

Jeff Seidel has spent more than four decades finding Jews wherever he can, at the Kotel, on college campuses, in airports, at football games, and even in nightclubs, trying to make sure one more person has a place for Shabbat and a stronger connection to Judaism. He sleeps about four hours a night, starts preparing for Friday night on Sunday morning, and still talks about missed opportunities as if they happened yesterday.

Michael sits down with Jeff to go beyond the stories people already know and ask what shaped him, what more than 40 years of outreach has cost him personally, why assimilation worries him more than antisemitism, and why he still feels he should be doing more. Jeff also talks about growing up in Skokie searching for Jewish pride, studying psychology, coming to Israel, building a network of families willing to host strangers for Shabbat, becoming a rabbi later in life, and the small moments he believes can change a person’s life years after you’ve forgotten they ever happened.

At the center of the conversation is one question Jeff keeps coming back to: if each of us has the ability to help someone else, why aren’t we doing more?
