Michkov’s Goal-Scoring, Bump & McDonald Sent Down, Hometown Remix & More | PHLY Flyers Podcast
Episode 1569
Show notes
We’ve got some catching up to do with the Philadelphia Flyers! After last night’s 6-3 win over the Utah Mammoth, they still find themselves as the only team with a sub-.400 points-percentage in the Eastern Conference, and tied for the most games played, meaning they have a lot of ground to gain, and less time than any other team to do it.
Today, Charlie & Bill talk about the returns of Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett, necessitating other young players being sent back to the AHL, as well as re-visiting last week’s conversation regarding Nick Seeler, Rick Tocchet and Matvei Michkov. Plus, a look at the newly released Hometown Remix jerseys, and Nikita Kucherov’s trade request out of Tampa Bay.

Flyers Are BORING And Captain Sean Couturier Called Them “Soft” | PHLY Flyers Podcast
Episode 1567
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers lost their third straight game on Wednesday night, dropping them to 3-8-4 (3-12) for the season. Philly scored 2 goals against Washington, marking the 10th time they’ve scored 2 or fewer in a game through the first 15 contests. The Orange & Black are not playing particularly entertaining hockey. On top of that, team captain Sean Couturier called them “soft” after the loss to the Capitals, the most insulting criticism that can be used to describe an NHL team.

Cates, Zegras Lead Furious Comeback, But Fantilli & Blue Jackets Beat Flyers In OT 4-3 | PHLY
Episode 1565
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers were as bad through 30 minutes as pretty much any game during their 9-game losing streak. But then a switch flipped when Noah Cates scored his first of the year midway through the second period, sparking a comeback that saw the Flyers tie the game with under 10 seconds remaining in regulation. Unfortunately, Dan Vladar could only stop one of two 2-on-0s he faced in the 3v3, and the Flyers comeback resulted in only one point instead of two.
Bill, Steve & Charlie break down the loss discussing, Vladar, Zegras, Foerster, the momentum swings of the game, and how it’s possible to look so bad and so good at the same time.

Michkov & Martone Are Leading Scorers, Risto Injured; How To Judge Flyers From Here? | PHLY Flyers
Episode 1564
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers seemed to be headed in the right direction after their horrendous 0-6-3 start, winning three straight games in regulation and taking a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes on Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks. Unfortunately the Ducks scored five goals in the final 40 minutes to end the Flyers winning streak and raise the question, “well, what now?”
How should Danny Briere proceed in a season that has already seen a number of injuries, call-ups from the AHL, hints of a true BREAKOUT season for Matvei Michkov, and a lot of questions regarding a number of veterans in Rick Tocchet’s lineup.
Charlie & Bill take a look at the totality of the first 13 games, where the Flyers’ roster stands, and what they want to see moving forward.

Michkov Scores TWO Goals, But Carlsson’s Two Points END Flyers Win Streak | PHLY Flyers Postgame
Episode 1563
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers took advantage of two-man advantage with goals by Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone to go up 2-0 through 20 minutes, but it was Leo Carlsson who got the Anaheim Ducks on the board with an early 2nd period goal, and his power play assist of a Beckett Sennecke third period goal was the game-winner, earning the Ducks their first win in Philly of the Cutter Gauthier era.
Bill, Kelly, Charlie and special guest Jim Jackson break down the loss, and exactly how the Flyers blew leads of 2-0 and 3-2 in such an emotionally charged game.

Trevor Zegras & Flyers NEED To Extend Hot Streak Saturday vs. Gauthier, Carlsson & Ducks | PHLY
Episode 1562
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers have begun turning their season around, winning three straight to bring their record through 12 games to 3-6-3. While the Orange & Black still have a long way to go to meet preseason expectations, they can do a lot to dig out of the hole by extending their winning streak to four games on Saturday with a win over Cutter Gauthier’s Anaheim Ducks.
With Leo Carlsson’s offer sheet adding fuel to the emotional fire burning between Anaheim and Philly, Bill proposes a clean slate between the fans and team for this season if the Flyers can match what the Senators did on Wednesday night in Brady Tkachuk’s return to Ottawa.
Plus, Charlie & Bill discuss how the rookies in Philadelphia’s lineup have stepped up in place of injured (and underwhelming) veterans.

Can Matvei Michkov LEAD Flyers To Stanley Cup Playoffs After 0-9 Start? | PHLY Flyers Podcast
Episode 1560
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers will, in all likelihood, miss the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs because of their horrendous performance through the first 9 games of the regular season.
But with wins in consecutive games against the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche, Matvei Michkov and his teammates have provided a glimmer of hope.
Today, Charlie & Bill discuss what will get the Flyers back in the Eastern Conference playoff mix now that that they’ve won not just one but TWO games!

Matvei Michkov Scores TWICE, Leads Flyers To Second Straight Win With 3-2 Victory Over Avs | PHLY
Episode 1559

The Philadelphia Flyers looked like the worst team in the NHL as recently as last Thursday. Bill, Steve & Charlie break down the win, discussing Matvei Michkov’s emergence as an offensive force, Oliver Bonk, Hunter McDonald and the rest of the youngsters in the lineup, and what’s next after a well played game against an elite opponent.

Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco Talks Travis Konecny, Rick Tocchet & Flyers UGLY Losing Streak
Episode 1557
Show notes
Welp… here we are. The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a winless start through nine games, posting a 0-6-3 record as of Thursday’s loss in Detroit.
There are a plethora of issues right now, from the inability of Trevor Zegras, Tyson Foerster and Owen Tippett to generate offense, to the coach’s usage of Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone while relying on a non-NHL caliber 4th line to nearly equal the franchise’s (hopefully) future stars in minutes. Oh, and Travis Konecny, Rasmus Ristolainen and Cam York are all injured, but that didn’t stop a team source from leaking his displeasure with TK to Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff.
Di Marco joins Charlie & Bill to talk about his article detailing the Konecny conversation, as well as Philly’s horrendous start, paltry offense, and nearly impossible playoff odds.

Matvei Michkov Scores Flyers’ Only Goal, Plays Under 15 Minutes In Philly’s 9th Straight Loss | PHLY
Episode 1556
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers have lost nine consecutive games to start the 2026-27 season. Sitting at 0-6-3 with only 11 goals on the season, the Orange & Black are no longer off to a slow start, they are just bad.
Matvei Michkov played a decent-enough game, scoring the team’s lone goal and setting up several chances, but somehow played 2 fewer seconds than Noel Acciari in the regulation loss.
Charlie & Bill do their best to keep their sanity breaking down another baffling effort from Rick Tocchet, Owen Tippett, Tyson Foerster and the rest of Philly’s underachieving lineup.

Travis Konecny TRADE? How Can Danny Briere Turn Flyers Season Around? | PHLY Flyers Podcast
Episode 1555
Show notes
The Philadelphia Flyers are 0-5-3 to start the 2026-27 season, and despite a decent OTL at home to the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night, the Flyers are on an historically bad run by record and goal-scoring.
With the fans calling for action, national headlines and insiders discussing a shake up, Rick Tocchet’s job security in question and underperforming/unavailable veterans on the roster, questions about a shake-up involving the coach, Travis Konecny, and others have begun.
Charlie & Bill discuss just HOW BAD the Flyers have been through 8 games, the possibility of trading a player like TK, firing Rick Tocchet, and a few reasons to believe the Orange & Black aren’t completely dead with 76 games remaining… just for fun!

Trevor Zegras Sparks 3rd Period Comeback, But Flyers Lose Shootout For 8th Straight Loss | PHLY
Episode 1554
Show notes
Through 40 minutes, the Philadelphia Flyers appeared to be trending in the same direction of the first 7 games, an offense-less uninspired loss, although they did have more shots than usual, few of them were dangerous.
And then an intense third period with tremendous efforts by Oliver Bonk and Trevor Zegras forced overtime against the Seattle Kraken, in hopes of the team’s first win of 2026-27.
The Flyers were able to kill a nearly-heartbreaking too many man penalty in overtime, and were able to push the game to a shootout, where they went 10-4 a season ago. But it was not to be on this night as Trevor Zegras, Tyson Foerster and Denver Barkey came up empty, leaving Matvei Michkov as the lone scorer, while Vladar stopped 3 of the first 4 attempts but was beaten by Bobby McMann to seal the Flyers’ 8th consecutive loss.
Bill, Charlie & Ryan Quigley break down the loss, discussing Vladar, Zegras, and the team’s ridiculously bad start to the season.
