Episode 419 - Hannah Stokes discusses Judee Sill's debut record
Episode 419
Show notes
Hannah Stokes joins us to discuss the self-titled debut from Judee Sill. Plenty of other discussion including the Blue Jay Listening Room in Jacksonville, Will's Pub, playing chords that even Patrick Hagerman can't figure out, playing harmonica while in a crowd, taking the baton in Central Florida, David Geffen, the Hollies, the Turtles, and because we're talking about Judee...of course there's discussion about religious imagery in songs. ENJOY!

Episode 418 - Ramones self-titled debut with Patreon Revisitor Kevin Hartbarger
Episode 418
Show notes
We have another Patreon Revisitor episode! This time with Kevin Hartbarger where we discuss the legendary and iconic Ramones debut. Plenty of discussion including stupid sound effects, what's in the basement, deducting points for doing a cover, and...should we actually talk about the lyrics (or lack thereof)?
Full disclosure - my mic apparently didn't get synced up with our recording studio so the audio quality isn't too my normal standards. My apologies for that. But, hopefully it doesn't distract from the fun conversation we have about this killer record!

Episode 416: Led Zeppelin III with Ian Russell of Orange Doors
Episode 416
Show notes
Ian Russell of Orange Doors joins us to talk about the killer third record from Led Zeppelin simply titled "III." Plenty of other discussion including the Charleston music scene, marching band, psychedelic music, the heavy hitters who dominated the 1970 album chart (and how Zeppelin had TWO different number one albums that year), how we pronounce Bron-Y-Aur (and probably still got it wrong) and songwriting credits for John Bonham.

Episode 415 - Interview with Peter Zaremba of The Fleshtones
Episode 415
Show notes
We got to hang with frontman Peter Zaremba of The Fleshtones. We discuss the 50th anniversary of the band, The Wheel of Talent, CBGB and Max's, France and Spain, being on IRS Records and why their earlier stuff isn't available on the streamings, "The Cutting Edge" television show on MTV, discovering Jimi, and the "Bachelor Party" movie.
We just hit record and started chatting so there's no formal "intro." If you think I need to record one, please share some thoughts. I kind of figured that no intro was in line with the Fleshtones no nonsense punk kind of vibe.
Lots of music in this one including the following Fleshtones songs (and others where notated).
You Gotta Love, Love (intro)
Hitsburg
Alex Trebek
Love My Lover
Float Your Showboat
Box Tops – Cry Like a Baby
Tommy Roe – Sheila
The Honeycombs - Love in Tokyo
Le Cereau (Peter solo song)
American Beat
Roman Gods (outro)

Episodes Revisited - From The Archives - Matt Nathanson discusses "Achtung Baby" from U2
Episode 414
Show notes
I've heard that some of our older episodes aren't showing up on some podcast platforms.
Let me remedy that by rereleasing some of those archived episodes. Let's call it "Records Revisited - Episodes Revisited."
The guys are joined by U2 superfan Matt Nathanson to discuss U2’s “Achtung Baby.” Plenty of other discussion about the beauty of “One,” what is “super crotch,” playing music in Provo at Mama’s Café and the JSB, Hansa Studios in Berlin, the power of friendship and band longevity, Depeche Mode, “tart” vs “guitar,” mean lyrics, and just how good this album is. We love this album but Matt LOVES this album.
Fair warning…this episode is like seeing Matt live in concert. So good but so NSFW.

Episode 412
Show notes
This one is an instant classic! Steve Poltz was the last guy from the "Frasier Fair" tour that I had yet to have on the podcast (the mini tour of Steve, John Doe, Glen Phillips and Pete Droge) and Steve does NOT disappoint. What a blast. We talk about John Doe, encyclopedia salesmen (and the inspiration behind his "Son of God" song), testing the concept of sequencing albums, Steely Dan and other personnel Rickie enlisted for this album, Broadway, and much more. Episode 410 - Thomas Csorba discusses Don Williams' "Country Boy"
Episode 410
Show notes
Don Williams was one of the biggest country stars of the 80s. Yet, we don't talk enough about Don. Glad that Thomas Csorba picked the 1977 record "Country Boy" from Don though, if you ask Wayne, Thomas should have picked "I Believe In You" from 1980.
Plenty of other discussion including the Opry, Mickey Gilley, Eddie Rabbitt, "to G or not to add a G," the legacy of Don with Louisiana Football (on a Saturday Night), and much more. If you like old school country, this is your episode!

Episode 406 - Blondie's "Parallel Lines" with Scotty Kummer of IGTOV
Episode 406
Show notes
Patreon Revisitor Scotty Kummer of the I’ve Got That On Vinyl Podcast & The Ten Junk Miles Podcast joins us to discuss "Parallel Lines" from Blondie. We have a longstanding argument about "Parallel Lines." I've said it's a good album...but not essential.
I might have changed my stance had Wayne not been such a poo poo head about it. And, I really wanted to double down.
Just don't tell Wayne that I think it's an essential record now, OK? Thanks.

Episode 405
Show notes
Gretchen Lemon of Seattle based band Jaws of Brooklyn joins us to discuss "Transatlanticism" from Death Cab for Cutie. And, because we're talking about Death Cab, I had to invite little brother Dave Montgomery to join us since he was a big reason why I became a Death Cab for Cutie fan.
Plenty of other discussion including Jaws of Brooklyn's new album "Unstoppable," traveling from Eastern Washington to Seattle, the creative peak of Ben Gibbard (The Postal Service came from this time period as well!!!), Chris Walla's influence, rethinking a score (and calling an audible on tape), and the killer rhythm section of Nick Harmer and Jason McGerr.

Episode 404 - Bjorn Yttling discusses "Money Jungle" from Duke Ellington
Episode 404
Show notes
Bjorn Ytlling...yeah he's the "Bjorn" of the group Peter, Bjorn and John...visits with us to discuss " Illegal Hit (Out of Bounds)," his first jazz album in like two decades under the moniker of "Yttling Jazz."
Since Bjorn is in full jazz mode, he wanted to discuss "Money Jungle" that is credited to Duke Ellington but also includes jazz legends Max Roach and Charlie Mingus. Plenty of other discussion including The Radioheads, tugboats, Peter Hook, illegal hockey hits, taxi drivers inspiring a title to a song, and did you know that "Young Folks" was originally a jazz song?
We don't discuss jazz all that often on this podcast so this was a nice detour. Even if you're not a fan of jazz music, hopefully there's something here for you to explore. Enjoy!
