Scottish Watches Podcast #828 : Stories From The Watch World With Pamela Cloutier
Show notes
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/wp49/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/sw-scottish-watches-podcast-828.jpg
This episode is a long time coming, and we finally sit down with Pamela Cloutier, whose career in the watch industry spans some of the biggest names in Swiss watchmaking. From her early days working with Christian Dior and Universal Genève to spending more than a decade at Patek Philippe, where she eventually oversaw the Americas and Asian markets.
Click here to read along and see the photos in our show notes as you listen – http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/2026/11/02/scottish-watches-podcast-828-stories-from-the-watch-world-with-pamela-cloutier/
Pamela has had a front-row seat to the business of watchmaking through some pretty fascinating periods. She later moved into De Grisogono and Ralph Lauren Watch & Jewelry, working alongside some very influential people and getting a different perspective on what goes into building a luxury brand.
She eventually found her way to Genus, initially through a handbag connection with the brand’s co-founder, Catherine Henry. At the heart of Genus is Sébastien Billière’s unusual interpretation of time display, built around an infinity-shaped track and a mechanical automaton that moves continuously around the dial. We discuss the origins of the concept, the work involved in turning Sébastien’s invention into a finished wristwatch, and the brand’s remarkable achievement of winning the Exceptional Mechanics category at the 2019 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

Scottish Watches Podcast #827 : Weekly Watch News for The End of October
Show notes

A €280,000 Lange, a G-Shock that’s drawing comparisons to the Patek Philippe Nautilus, and some big questions about the future of Zenith, this week’s episode has plenty to get us talking.
Click here to read along and see the photos in our show notes as you listen –
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/2026/10/29/scottish-watches-podcast-827-weekly-watch-news-for-the-end-of-october/We start with A. Lange & Söhne’s Datograph Perpetual in platinum, pairing a black dial with diamond baguette indices and a full platinum bracelet, before turning to G-Shock’s divisive new analogue design and Nomadic’s first rectangular watch, the Dana 141, powered by a hand-wound La Joux-Perret movement. We also discuss reports of potential job cuts at Zenith and what a shift towards lower-volume, high-horology production could mean for the brand. Rounding out the releases are Sinn’s 65th-anniversary 140 A.S. chronograph, inspired by spaceflight, and Tissot’s skeletonised PRX collaboration with NBA star Damian Lillard, which can even be converted into a pocket watch.

Scottish Watches Podcast #826 : Dialling In With Chris Alexander
Show notes
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/wp49/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/sw-scottish-watches-podcast-826.jpg
Watch shows are about more than the watches on display; it is the friends you make along the way. One of your friends who made it across this is Chris Alexander, the Dial Artist. Chris takes us through his time at Watchmakers United, visits to Hautlence and Sartory-Billard, and the releases he barely had time to see, including Hublot’s much-discussed collaboration with Jeff Koons and the Bulgari x Vianney Halter Octo Finissimo, which was his highlight of the show. He also shares a memorable visit to Jacob & Co. with photographer Ginny Hyindi, where he got a closer look at extraordinary diamond and ruby-set watches worth millions.

Scottish Watches Podcast #825 : We Return To The Classics With Hublot, Fears, Formex and Brew
Show notes

Formex and Fears go black in two very different styles. Formex has made its best Essence Ceramica yet, featuring a meteorite dial with red accents, while the whole package, from ceramic case to clasp, adds new details.
Click here to read along and see the photos in our show notes as you listen – http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/2026/10/22/scottish-watches-podcast-825-we-return-to-the-classics-with-hublot-fears-formex-and-brew/
Fears revisits its rectangular shape in an ultra-formal timepiece fit for the Opera. Hublot goes back to the roots of Carlo Crocco’s original design with the Classic Fusion Tributo. A brand that never forgets what it is great at is Brew, which took over WindUp with a quintessential NYC symbol: yellow taxis. Don’t miss these releases, as well as two interviews from Geneva Watch Days with the gentleman at the helm of Formex and Awake.

Barbara Palumbo (@whatsonherwrist) joins us for a catch-up after a few months of barely being in the same place twice, with stories from VicenzaOro, the Time Out Watch Fair in Maryland, and the run-up to New York Watch Week.

We get into the differences between Windup and WatchTime, why Dubai Watch Week has become such a standout, and how smaller events can bring collectors and brands together in ways that bigger shows sometimes can’t. We also get into her upcoming trip to see the Philadelphia Eagles as a guest of H. Moser & Cie. and Saquon Barkley, the NFL star and Moser ambassador, which has her ridiculously excited as a lifelong Eagles fan.

We were just in Ireland for the first time for Chronography! A show that brought a lot of brand recognition to Ireland while also showcasing incredible local talent.

We brought some of them in front of a microphone for a live podcast recording you’ll be hearing now. People like Paul Sheeran, who is ensuring a great boutique experience for collectors, independent watchmakers like John McGonigle, who are bringing watchmaking knowledge back to Ireland, microbrands like Nomadic, and brands that came to support such as our pals at Vertex, who, on a side note, have become the latest watch brand for James Bond.

Show notes
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/wp49/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/sw-scottish-watches-podcast-821.jpg
This week the watch industry seems to have decided that normal is overrated. We’ve got G-Shock putting a sapphire case through the kind of engineering exercise you wouldn’t normally associate with a quartz watch, Porsche Design revisiting one of the most influential military chronograph movements, and Formex somehow continuing to make a Swiss titanium watch for under a thousand pound. Then things get considerably more extravagant with Denison using diamonds and onyx in a very different kind of watch, Breguet reworking its Marine Chronograph, and Ulysse Nardin giving the Freak One a pair of seriously good-looking new treatments. There’s also plenty of conversation around whether these watches actually justify their prices, why quartz deserves more respect, what happens when traditional craftsmanship meets modern materials, and what we found when we finally got to see some of these watches in the metal at Geneva Watch Days.

Show notes
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/wp49/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/sw-scottish-watches-podcast-820.jpg
We’re talking to Karl from Chrome Calibre about Chronography, a brand-new watch show taking place on October 10 at Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin, one of the city’s historic 16th-century theatres. The event brings together more than 20 watch brands and exhibitors, with names including Fortis, Vertex, Christopher Ward, Nomadic, Doxa, Oris, Farer and Moriarty Watches, alongside Irish watchmakers and independent brands such as McGonigal. There’s also a full programme of talks and presentations in the theatre, new-watch launches, a magazine, a charity raffle supporting breast cancer research, and a live recording of the podcast. We get into how Carl put the event together, why he wanted to create something that would give Irish collectors access to brands they normally only encounter online, and the wider goal of putting Ireland’s own watchmaking talent in front of a much bigger audience.

Show notes
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/wp49/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/sw-scottish-watches-podcast-819.jpg
We’re joined by Andy from Andy’s Watches, one of the most recognizable voices in the watch-collecting world on TikTok and Instagram. We first met Andy almost by accident at Geneva Watch Days, and what started as a conversation over dinner quickly turned into an invitation to come on the podcast. From discovering watches through Panerai in a Bruce Willis movie and buying his first serious watch, a Frederique Constant, to building a collection around genuinely personal pieces.
We get into how that passion eventually turned into content creation, the story behind his now-famous unsolicited watch-collection ratings, his growing relationships with brands and collectors, and what it was like unexpectedly connecting with Ryan Reynolds in Geneva. We also talk about H. Moser, Geneva Watch Days, independent watchmaking, Andy’s decision to leave a job he hated and take the leap into content creation, and the importance of mental health along the way.

This week on the Scottish Watches Podcast, we’re getting into some pretty varied releases and plenty of listener chat. We start with H. Moser’s Streamliner Off-Grid, a pair of digital watches developed with Sequent, and get into what it means for a traditionally mechanical brand to put its name on a watch with GPS, GMT, chronograph, perpetual calendar, moon phase, and a whole host of other functions. We look at Hublot’s Classic Fusion x Jeff Koons Balloon Dog, which is the first Hublot in a few years that we’d actually consider adding to our collections, Studio Underd0g’s fish-inspired chronograph with Ahmed Siddiqui, and the latest colourful Neo Digitour from Chronoswiss. We also cover Meistersinger’s Route 66 edition, answer questions about Formex and collecting at different price points, discuss the Day of the Independents event in London, and finish with a watch using genuine Horween American football leather for its dial and strap.

What is the state of the watch industry? Who truly innovated at this year? Which brands are doggedly making a name for themselves? With behind-the-scenes experience across several watch brands, media, logistics, and production, Rob Nudds is in a unique position to answer those questions, and more, in this episode of the Scottish Watches Podcast.

Scottish Watches Podcast #815 : Rolex, AP, Tudor, Moser, IWC and Much More
Show notes

Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Tudor, Moser, and IWC all showed up with major releases. It starts with Rolex’s Perpetual Padellone, featuring an annual calendar and moon-phase complication, then moves to Audemars Piguet’s 38mm white-ceramic Royal Oak made with Serena Williams, complete with a pink-tinted mother-of-pearl dial and diamonds.

Tudor then gives us another interesting twist on its catalogue with a new GMT, while Moser continues down its wonderful path with the latest Alpine-inspired Streamliner. And then there’s IWC, marking fifty years of the Ingenieur with two deliberately restrained 40mm and 35mm editions that bring the Genta connection back into focus. Circula brings out their Facet collection in 41mm as well as introducing new matte dials. Milan Watch Week and Dubai Watch Week announce their collaborative efforts to strengthen the watch community. But unfortunately, we do also have bad news involving Ulysse Nardin’s museum pieces.

Scottish Watches Podcast #814 : Why We Made The Fears Perpetual Calendar Watch
Show notes
http://www.scottishwatches.co.uk/wp49/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/sw-scottish-watches-podcast-814.jpg
For all the amazing things Fears has done since its relaunch in 2016, the brand has generally stayed relatively accessible, under GBP 5,000. However, it has now entered the world of complications, a move that raises its positioning in both renown and price. Enter the Brunswick 39 Perpetual Calendar.
Despite taking the form of the Brunswick collection, the Brunswick 39 is actually a new size configuration for the brand, sitting between the existing dressier 38 and the sportier 40. The Brunswick 39 clocks in at 39mm x 45.4mm x 10.1mm, which is impressively the slimmest model in the collection. And that is despite having the added complication of a perpetual calendar. Which brings us to the dial. The dial comes in silver mink that has a frosted finish and is coated in pure warm silver, which stands out against the steel case and really harks back to traditional perpetual calendars. The complications also take a traditional layout, with 4 recessed sub-dials for the date (with 31 in cyan blue), day, month & leap year indicator, as well as the moon phase.
The movement an automatic Sellita SW300 with a module made by Dubois Depraz specially for Fears. That means it runs at 4Hz and comes with the standard 47-hour power reserve. Where it stands apart, though, is the finishing, which features frosted surfaces with hand-finished bevels that are topped off with an 18k gold engraved rotor. With all of this going into this piece, we ask the important question: why does it cost GBP 26,950?
