Healing After Narcissistic Abuse with Diane Clair

Episode 105 | Spiritual Awakening Podcast with Shaz

What happens when everything you've spent your life building comes crashing down, and the person you trusted most turns out to be someone you barely knew?

Healing after narcissistic abuse can mean rebuilding far more than your relationships. It can mean rediscovering your identity, reclaiming your self-worth, finding your voice and learning to trust yourself again after years of being made to feel that you were never enough.

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, I'm joined by author, mentor and spiritual explorer Diane Clair, whose extraordinary journey through narcissistic abuse, divorce, financial devastation, grief and spiritual awakening has led her to a completely new chapter of life.

After 35 years of marriage, Diane discovered that the relationship she believed she had built was not what she thought it was.

At 58, she faced bankruptcy, the loss of her family home, the breakdown of her marriage and the painful reality of having to begin again. Her youngest child was preparing to leave for college, her familiar community was disappearing, and the identity she had spent decades creating was suddenly gone.

But the emotional devastation didn't begin with her marriage.

Diane had already experienced profound grief after losing her twin sister in a tragic car accident when they were just 24. She also spent much of her life navigating a difficult relationship with her mother, where criticism, rejection and the feeling of never being good enough had shaped how she saw herself.

For decades, Diane had been the giver, the caretaker, the woman who held everything together for everyone else.
Now she had to discover who she was when there was nobody left to hold everything together for.
What followed was a journey of spiritual discovery, personal healing, independence and the gradual transformation Diane describes as going from solo to sovereign.

Today, at 70, Diane is the author of A Girlfriends Guide to the Other Side: Reclaiming Your Mind, Body, and Soul After Narcissistic Abuse, Divorce, and Relational Trauma. She is building a community of women who are ready to reclaim their lives, rediscover their confidence and move beyond simply surviving their past.

But this conversation goes much deeper than recovering from a difficult relationship.

In this episode, Healing After Narcissistic Abuse with Diane Clair, we discuss:

    • Diane's journey through a 35-year marriage and the devastating discovery of betrayal, infidelity and narcissistic abuse
    • the financial devastation of divorce, bankruptcy and losing the home and community she had spent decades building
    • what happens to your identity when the roles of wife, mother and partner suddenly disappear
    • recognising the patterns of narcissistic abuse when you've spent your life believing you're the problem
    • how emotional manipulation, financial abuse and coercive control can exist without physical violence
    • the relationship between childhood conditioning, people-pleasing, empathy and accepting unhealthy treatment
    • Diane's difficult relationship with her mother and the lifelong impact of criticism, rejection and being the family scapegoat
    • why narcissistic abuse can occur in families, friendships, workplaces and romantic relationships, regardless of gender
    • the profound grief Diane experienced after losing her twin sister in a car accident at 24
    • how her connection with angels and her sister in Spirit became part of her spiritual awakening
    • the moment in a Beijing church when Diane received a spiritual message about why she was still here
    • moving from solo to sovereign, learning to travel alone, discovering independence and creating a new relationship with yourself
    • how Diane's career as a flight attendant helped her maintain a sense of identity, confidence and purpose during her darkest moments
    • why having people who recognise your worth can become an important part of rebuilding your self-esteem
    • the connection between prolonged stress, trauma and physical health, including Diane's experiences with psoriasis
    • Shaz's personal experiences with PTSD, physical symptoms and the emotional healing that became part of her spiritual journey
    • understanding the impact of long-term trauma on the nervous system and why healing can involve both emotional and physical support
    • using meditation, journaling, yoga, crystals, essential oils and creativity to reconnect with peace and calm
    • why writing down your experiences can help you process emotions and recognise how far you've come
    • how travel, watercolour painting, flowers, beauty and new experiences helped Diane rediscover the parts of herself she had forgotten
    • recognising the difference between being alone and being free to make your own choices
    • the importance of education, boundaries, financial awareness and practical planning when leaving an abusive relationship
    • why women need sisterhood, community and people who understand the complexities of relational trauma
    • how Diane turned her experiences into her book, coaching, mentorship and resources for women rebuilding their lives
    • the power of taking the next right step when the future feels overwhelming
    • why healing after narcissistic abuse doesn't have an age limit and your next chapter can begin whenever you choose
    • transforming painful experiences into wisdom, compassion and a renewed sense of purpose
    • the spiritual significance Shaz associates with 11:11, awakening and recognising the guidance that leads you towards your purpose
    • why your past does not have to define who you become, and how you can begin creating a life that finally belongs to you

One of the most powerful conversations in this episode centres around the identity we lose when we spend our lives trying to be enough for someone else.

Diane speaks openly about being the giver in her relationships, investing her inheritance into her husband's business, raising her children, supporting the family and building a life around their shared future.
Yet when that relationship ended, she was left facing financial hardship and the emotional reality that the person she had trusted did not show her the same care and consideration.

She also began recognising similar patterns in her relationship with her mother.

For years, Diane believed the criticism and rejection she experienced reflected something wrong with her. Like so many empaths, she had become accustomed to giving more, trying harder and questioning herself whenever a relationship went wrong.

We explore how these patterns develop and why emotional abuse can be difficult to recognise when it has become your normal experience of love.

Diane explains how she began educating herself about narcissistic behaviours, listening to specialists, joining support communities and slowly recognising the emotional, financial and psychological abuse she had experienced.

That knowledge helped her begin separating who she truly was from who she had been conditioned to believe she was.

And that is where rebuilding self-worth becomes such an important part of healing.

We also share our personal experiences of growing up with difficult family relationships, the impact of rejection and what happens when you finally begin recognising patterns you no longer want to carr...

Spiritual Awakening, Dark Night of the Soul & Mediumship with Nicole Pope

Episode 103 - Spiritual Awakening Podcast with Shaz

What happens when the spiritual gifts you never knew you had suddenly switch on, and the life you thought you understood begins to unravel?

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, I’m joined by evidential medium Nicole Pope for a deep, honest conversation about spiritual awakening, mediumship, the dark night of the soul and what really happens when Spirit begins calling you towards a completely different life.

Nicole spent much of her life in the corporate world, working in technology, project management and private equity. Mediumship was nowhere on the career plan. Then her young son began seeing what he described as shadow people in their home.

What initially looked like childhood imagination eventually led Nicole to a medium, who gave her an answer she certainly wasn’t expecting.

Her son wasn’t the only one connected to Spirit.

    Nicole was a medium too.

Once she began developing that ability, the door opened quickly. Mediumship, the clairs, Akashic Records, Shamanic study and a completely different relationship with Spirit began unfolding, eventually leading Nicole away from her corporate career and towards the work she now feels called to do.

But this conversation goes far beyond how someone becomes a psychic medium.

In this episode, Spiritual Awakening, Dark Night of the Soul & Mediumship with Nicole Pope, we discuss:

    • Nicole’s unexpected journey from corporate executive to evidential medium
    • her son seeing Spirit and how his experiences became part of her own awakening
    • what happens when mediumship abilities suddenly begin opening
    • clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience and how different intuitive abilities communicate
    • why your strongest intuitive gift may not be the one you expect
    • the everyday signs from Spirit people often overlook
    • why developing mediumship involves much more than simply “seeing dead people”
    • the importance of discernment when connecting spiritually
    • vibration, frequency and what you may connect with when you open spiritually from fear, grief or emotional distress
    • Nicole’s experience of the dark night of the soul and having Spirit come through intensely
    • why spiritual awakening can initially feel more like a breakdown than an awakening
    • the difference between being gifted and believing the gift makes you special
    • moving beyond the spiritual ego and understanding yourself as the channel rather than the source
    • why ethical mediumship requires boundaries, integrity and consent
    • respecting sovereignty and free will when receiving information about another person
    • why Shaz and Nicole refuse to treat mediumship like a performance
    • the danger of practitioners feeling they need to prove their gifts
    • recognising when your own intention or ego begins interfering with intuitive information
    • personal responsibility as part of spiritual development
    • shadow work and learning to become curious about the parts of yourself you would rather avoid
    • inherited behaviours, childhood conditioning, lineage and past-life patterns
    • Nicole’s journey with her parents and the lesson Spirit brought through about no longer allowing another person’s behaviour to determine who she becomes
    • boundaries, forgiveness and the difference between healing something and allowing harmful behaviour back into your life
    • releasing survival patterns that once protected you but no longer belong in the life you are creating
    • moving from constant doing and productivity into trust, surrender and receiving
    • why healing does not mean pretending the past never happened
    • the idea that the experiences you survive can become part of the wisdom you eventually offer others
    • soul lessons, reincarnation and whether some of our hardest experiences form part of a much bigger journey
    • trusting Spirit when the road towards your purpose looks nothing like the route you expected
    • why your soul purpose keeps finding ways to get your attention until you finally listen

One of the strongest conversations in this episode centres around ethics in spiritual work.

Nicole and I talk openly about consent, boundaries and the responsibility that comes with being able to access information intuitively. Having the ability to read someone does not automatically give you permission to do it. We explore the difference between receiving information and believing you have the right to deliver it, why practitioners need to examine their intentions, and what can happen when ego becomes involved in spiritual work.

We also go deeply into the dark night of the soul.

Nicole shares how opening so rapidly to Spirit became overwhelming and contributed to what she describes as a mental breakdown. That experience forced her to understand frequency, discernment and the parts of herself that still needed healing. Rather than treating spiritual awakening as endless love, light and beautiful signs, we talk about why awakening can expose everything within us that is asking to be faced.

From there, the conversation moves into shadow work, ego and healing.

We discuss why the goal is not to destroy the ego, but to understand it. As we develop spiritually, the focus begins shifting away from look what I can do and towards understanding that we are channels through which the work happens. The deeper work becomes clearing our own patterns so that fear, wounds, ego and expectations interfere less with what we receive.

Nicole also shares one of the most personal lessons from her own awakening. After distancing herself from difficult family dynamics, Spirit challenged her to recognise that true freedom would come when she stopped allowing another person's behaviour to change who she chose to be. It becomes a powerful conversation about boundaries, family patterns, healing and becoming emotionally sovereign rather than continuing to react to somebody else’s journey.

And, naturally, Nicole and I wander into past lives, soul contracts, reincarnation and those sliding-door moments that seem insignificant at the time but may completely redirect your life.

The underlying message becomes beautifully simple.

You might resist your calling. You might take the scenic route. You might even convince yourself you have chosen the wrong path.

But if something genuinely belongs to your soul’s journey, it has an incredible way of finding you again.

Nicole’s final message is to trust the process, give yourself grace and find people who can support you through your development. Mediumship kept finding her until she finally said yes, even though saying yes eventually meant leaving a successful corporate career behind.

    Episode Highlights

This episode explores mediumship from both sides of the journey. Nicole discovered her abilities later in life, while I grew up experiencing Spirit from childhood. Those very different beginnings create a fascinating conversation about how spiritual gifts can present differently while still leading us towards the same fundamental lesson: learning to trust ourselves and the connection we have with Spirit.

We also strip some of the glamour away from spiritual awakeni...

What If Your Life Falling Apart Is the Reveal?

Episode 102, Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

What if the thing you think is falling apart is actually showing you what can no longer stay the same?

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, I explore the idea that some of the biggest breakdowns, endings, losses and setbacks in our lives are not always punishment or failure. Sometimes they are the reveal. They expose what is no longer aligned, what has run its course, what we have outgrown, and who we are being asked to become next.

I share parts of my own journey, including losing my business, watching plans fall apart, rebuilding my identity and learning that what looked like failure at the time often became the very thing that redirected me towards the work I now do. This episode is about looking at your life through a different lens and asking what your current challenges may be trying to show you. Podcast 102

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why life falling apart can sometimes be a reveal rather than a failure
    • How awakening can involve removal, endings and redirection
    • Why relationships, jobs, friendships and business models sometimes stop fitting
    • How identity changes as we grow and evolve
    • Why grief is not only about death, but also the loss of a future you thought you would have
    • The difference between a setback and a deeper misalignment
    • Why some cycles have to end before something new can begin
    • How losing a job can become an opportunity to ask what you actually want next
    • Why comfort and familiarity can keep us stuck in situations that no longer serve us
    • How breakdowns can expose the truth about relationships and support systems
    • Why the role of “the strong one” can become part of your identity
    • The importance of allowing grief, anger and pain instead of spiritually bypassing them
    • How unresolved trauma can sit in the body and affect your wellbeing
    • Why freedom can feel scarier than staying with what you already know
    • How to question the identity you have built around work, relationships, family and responsibility
    • Why awakening is not always about more, but sometimes about less
    • Letting go of people pleasing, self-abandonment and living for other people’s approval
    • Why your life may not be collapsing, but becoming more honest
    • How to ask what you are ready to build next

    Highlights

One of the strongest messages in this episode is that we often judge a breakdown too quickly. We call it failure, punishment or proof that something has gone wrong, when it may actually be the moment that exposes where our life has become misaligned.

Sometimes the ending itself is what forces us to stop and ask what we truly want.

I also share how losing my business years ago became one of the biggest identity shifts of my life. At the time, I could not see what would come next, but that loss eventually led me towards creating my cards, journals, books and this podcast. The version of me that exists today would not have been created without that breakdown.

Another major theme is identity. We can become so attached to roles like partner, parent, rescuer, business owner or employee that we forget who we are underneath them. This episode asks you to look beyond those labels and reconnect with your values, your truth and the life your soul is actually asking you to create.

The episode closes with one of the most important questions you can ask yourself when life feels uncertain:

What am I ready to build now?

    Show notes

Why Self Love Is So Important

Episode 101, Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

The most important relationship you will ever have in this lifetime is not the one you think it is. It is the relationship you have with yourself, with your own soul.

In this episode, I unpack why so much of our pain, our anxiety and the trauma we carry in our bodies comes down to the way we speak to ourselves every single day. I share why the harshest critic most of us ever face lives in our own head, why criticism from other people is really a mirror of how they feel about themselves, and why the way we treat ourselves as adults so often echoes what we absorbed as children.

I also talk about one of the hardest patterns I see in my work as a psychic medium and healer, mothers who gave everything to their children, only to be told later that they weren't loved enough. I walk through why that happens, what it actually means to pour from a full cup rather than an empty one, and why one hundred percent of five percent will always only be five percent.

Alongside the harder truths, I share the practical rituals, affirmations and mindset shifts I use every single day to keep my own cup full, including the exact words I use when someone tries to criticise or put me down.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why the relationship with yourself matters more than any other relationship in your life
    • Why your inner critic so often echoes what you absorbed as a child
    • Why someone else's judgement or criticism of you is really a reflection of how they feel about themselves
    • The "hurt people hurt people" analogy and why people who are in pain end up lashing out
    • Why becoming an adult means becoming the caretaker of your own soul
    • Why celebrating your own wins is essential to your soul's growth, not egotistical
    • Why we celebrate celebrities and sportspeople but discourage ourselves from celebrating our own achievements
    • The exhausted, unappreciated mother pattern, and why external validation can never fill an internal void
    • The cup metaphor, and why one hundred percent of five percent is still only five percent
    • The heartbreaking pattern I see in readings, mothers who gave everything only to be told by their adult children that they weren't loved enough
    • Why love given from an empty cup is felt as hollow, even when the words themselves are right
    • Why real self-love means accepting your faults and your shadow side without holding them against yourself
    • How repetition changes your inner dialogue, the same way repetition teaches you anything else in life
    • Morning affirmations and rituals I use to reset my mindset each day
    • Why chasing love and appreciation from outside yourself leaves you feeling empty, even when people are pouring into you
    • Why boundaries and refusing to accept unkind words are genuine acts of self-love
    • My go-to response when someone tries to criticise or put me down
    • How grief and self-love can exist together, and how I honour my own loved ones every day
    • Why every challenge can be reframed as an opportunity to grow once you stop resisting it
    • The three and a half year self-love journey that changed how I show up in the world

    Highlights

One of the strongest themes in this episode is that your relationship with yourself shapes every other relationship in your life. When your own cup is empty, no amount of love, appreciation or reassurance from someone else can fill it, and that hollowness is always felt, even when it isn't spoken.

I also share one of the hardest things I sit with in my work, mothers who poured everything they had into their children, only to be told later that it wasn't enough. The truth underneath that pain is almost never that they didn't try. It is that they were giving from a cup that was already empty.

Most importantly, I want you to walk away from this episode with real, practical ways to start filling your own cup, through the words you use, the affirmations you choose each morning, and the boundaries you're willing to hold, so that what you give to the people you love comes from fullness rather than from empty.

Journeys with the Archangels: Why This Book Matters

Episode 100, Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

Episode 100 felt too important to simply look backwards.

Instead, I wanted to share the journey that brought me here and the deeper story behind my new book, Journeys with the Archangels: A Practical Guide.

This episode is about my personal relationship with the Archangels, the ways they have shown up throughout my life, and why I believe learning to work with them can help you strengthen your intuition, feel supported through difficult times and build a deeper relationship with your own spiritual guidance.

I also share why this book is not designed to sit untouched on a shelf. It is meant to be used, written in, highlighted, opened when you feel lost and returned to whenever you need guidance, healing, courage, protection or clarity.

The biggest message throughout this episode is simple. The Archangels can support you, but you have to ask, remain open to receiving, and still take responsibility for your own life and choices.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why Episode 100 felt like the right moment to talk about Journeys with the Archangels
    • Why Archangel Michael became such an important guide in my life
    • Why Michael encouraged me to write this book
    • Why the Archangels cannot override your free will
    • The importance of asking for spiritual assistance
    • How Archangels can support grief, healing, courage, relationships, communication, creativity and decision-making
    • Why you do not always need to know an Archangel’s name before asking for help
    • The 15 Archangels I chose to include and why personal experience mattered to me
    • How Archangels can appear through warmth, movement, breeze, dreams, visions, colours and physical sensations
    • My experiences with Archangel Michael, Ariel, Jeremiel, Haniel and others
    • How Archangels can work together to support specific situations
    • Why spiritual support does not remove your personal responsibility
    • The importance of taking action after receiving guidance
    • Why discomfort can sometimes be part of growth and transformation
    • Working with Archangel Azrael during grief and transition
    • Why Journeys with the Archangels is designed as a practical guide
    • The invocations, meditations, visualisations and journaling prompts included in the book
    • Why shadow journaling can help you understand what sits underneath the need for support
    • How signs and synchronicities can be subtle rather than dramatic
    • How dreams, repeated messages, songs, bodily sensations and intuitive knowing can become forms of spiritual communication
    • Why building a relationship with an Archangel is similar to building any other relationship
    • How the book can help strengthen your own intuition rather than make you dependent on outside guidance
    • Why your relationship with the Archangels does not need to look like mine
    • How I want readers to use the book in real life, especially during grief, fear, overwhelm or uncertainty
    • Why the podcast and the book ultimately come from the same purpose
    • How to use the book intuitively rather than feeling that you must read it from beginning to end

    Highlights

One of the strongest themes in this episode is that the Archangels are there to support you, but they are not there to take over your life.

You still have free will, choice and personal responsibility.

You can ask for courage, healing, clarity, protection or guidance, but you still have to participate in the change you are asking for.

I also share how differently the Archangels can appear. Their presence is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is warmth, a breeze, a repeated message, a dream, a body sensation, a song or a quiet thought that seems to arrive at exactly the right moment.

The book itself was created to make these relationships practical. Each Archangel has ways to connect, including invocations, meditations, signs, synchronicities and shadow journaling prompts so you can explore what support you need and how that support may already be showing up around you.

Most importantly, I want you to build your own evidence and your own relationship with the Archangels. Your experience does not need to match mine.

  7. You Don’t Need Another Sign. Make the Decision.

    Season 2, Episode 99

    Show notes

You Don’t Need Another Sign. Make the Decision.

Episode 99, Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

There comes a point where asking for another sign stops being guidance and starts becoming avoidance.

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, I talk about what happens when you already know what you want, but fear, doubt and overthinking keep you stuck in analysis paralysis. We look at the difference between guidance and permission seeking, why constantly outsourcing your decisions weakens self-trust, and how to reconnect with your intuition, body and spiritual sovereignty.

This episode is about learning to stop asking everyone else what you should do and beginning to trust yourself enough to choose.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why asking for another sign can become avoidance
    • The difference between guidance and permission seeking
    • How language such as “should I?” can hand your power away
    • Why spiritual tools should support your intuition, not replace it
    • What spiritual sovereignty actually looks like
    • How constantly asking other people for advice weakens self-trust
    • Why intuition is often simple, while the mind creates complexity
    • How your body can help you understand what feels aligned
    • Why empaths need to learn their own internal signals
    • The difference between excitement, anxiety and intuitive warning signs
    • Why asking the same question repeatedly creates more confusion
    • How failure gives you information and helps you make better decisions
    • Why certainty is rarely available before action
    • How research, experience and testing create greater clarity
    • Why signs are confirmation rather than a substitute for decision making
    • How taking action builds confidence, momentum and self-trust

    Highlights

One of the strongest themes in this episode is the idea that you already know more than you think you do.

We can become so focused on cards, pendulums, repeating numbers, spiritual guidance and other people’s opinions that we forget the most important source of information, ourselves.

I also explore how the body communicates with us through expansion, contraction, tension, relief and subtle physical reactions. Learning your own patterns can help you recognise the difference between fear, intuition and old conditioning.

Failure also gets reframed in this episode. Making a decision that does not work out does not automatically mean you made a mistake. Sometimes it gives you the information you needed in order to take the next step with more clarity.

Most importantly, your spiritual tools are there to strengthen your relationship with yourself, not replace it.

    Season 2, Episode 98

    Show notes

When Awakening Takes the Ground From Under You, with Heather Zimmerman

Episode 98 Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

What happens when your spiritual awakening does not feel expansive or peaceful, but instead feels like your whole life is being pulled apart?

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, I sit down with Heather Zimmerman, Multidimensional Soul Facilitator and founder of Divine Ascension Co., for a deep conversation about spiritual awakening, the dark night of the soul, healing trauma, sovereignty, channeling, manifestation and what can happen when the old version of your life no longer fits.

Heather holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis, and spent years working in behavioural science before her own awakening took her apart and rebuilt her from underneath.

That experience shaped the way she works today. Rather than focusing only on surface symptoms, Heather looks deeper at what may be happening emotionally, mentally, physically, energetically and spiritually.

She is the author of Becoming Divine and the creator of The Self-Spirit Method™, a fourteen-step framework built in the order she personally needed while moving through her own healing and awakening journey.

Heather works with people who are experiencing something they may not yet have language for, particularly those wondering why they suddenly feel different, disconnected from their old life, energetically sensitive or unsure of what is happening to them.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Heather’s early experiences with spirit, haunted houses and unexplained phenomena
    • How questioning religion led her towards her own spiritual path
    • The dark night of the soul and what happens when your existing belief system falls apart
    • Dreams, astral travel, past-life experiences and multidimensional exploration
    • Channeling spirit guides, higher-dimensional beings and other forms of consciousness
    • Why curiosity matters during a spiritual awakening
    • Spiritual sovereignty and finding what feels true for you
    • Why Heather believes authenticity is an important part of spiritual development
    • The difference between surface healing and getting underneath the original pattern
    • Spiritual bypassing and why healing often happens in layers
    • The connection between trauma, emotions, energy and the body
    • Breaking ancestral and generational patterns
    • Why manifestation requires more than affirmations, visualisation and vision boards
    • How focusing your energy on what you actually want can change the way you manifest
    • Heather’s fourteen-step Self-Spirit Method™
    • Self-love, compassion, chakras, mindfulness and gratitude as foundations for deeper spiritual work
    • Learning to communicate with spirit and asking better questions
    • Creating boundaries with spirit and developing a relationship with your guides
    • Daily energetic practices for reconnecting with yourself and your highest timeline
    • Becoming curious about the parts of spirituality that exist beyond the surface

    Highlights

One of the strongest themes in this conversation is the importance of sovereignty.

Heather encourages people to question, explore and discover what actually feels true for them instead of automatically adopting someone else’s beliefs.

We also explore why healing is rarely finished after dealing with something once. Old experiences can return at another level because you are ready to meet a deeper layer of the pattern.

Heather shares why manifestation is the final stage of her fourteen-step framework rather than the starting point. Before intentionally creating something different, she believes we need to understand ourselves, our energy and the patterns influencing the way we experience life.

This is a conversation for anyone who has ever thought, What the hell is happening to me?, during a spiritual awakening and wondered whether losing the old version of themselves might actually be the beginning of something much bigger.

    About Heather Zimmerman

Heather Zimmerman is a Multidimensional Soul Facilitator and the founder of Divine Ascension Co.

She holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis, and spent years working in behavioural science before her own awakening took her apart and rebuilt her from underneath.

That is the reason she works the way she does. She does not treat the surface symptom. She goes looking for what is actually underneath it, which is usually why the surface fixes never held.

She is the author of Becoming Divine and the creator of The Self-Spirit Method™, a fourteen-step framework built in the order she actually needed it.

She works with people who are in the middle of something they have no language for yet, who are afraid there is something wrong with them, and who have not told anyone what is really happening.

Heather has created a free guide called The Ground Went First, exploring the part of awakening that people rarely warn you about.

Sometimes awakening does not begin with bliss, clarity or feeling deeply connected.

Your sleep changes. Money becomes stressful. Your nervous system starts bracing. Relationships stop fitting. You may no longer feel at home in your own life.

Rather than being five unrelated problems, Heather explores how these experiences can be connected and what may be happening underneath them.

Returning to Yourself with Joy Danielle Cabodi

Episode 97 - Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

What happens when the parts of you that were shaped by trauma, survival and fear begin returning to your authentic self?

    Episode overview

In this episode of the Spiritual Awakening Podcast, I’m joined by spiritual healer, shamanic practitioner, psychic medium and Akashic Records reader Joy Danielle Cabodi.

Joy shares her journey from a chaotic childhood, homelessness and addiction into sobriety, spiritual awakening and the deeper work of remembering who she really is. We talk about empathy born through trauma, soul retrieval, intuition, healthy boundaries, generational healing and what it means to reclaim the parts of yourself that were lost along the way.

This conversation also explores grief, self-love, the divine feminine, spiritual authenticity and why some of our hardest experiences become the training ground for the work we are here to do.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • How trauma can heighten empathy and sensitivity
    • Joy’s journey through homelessness, addiction and sobriety
    • Developing psychic awareness and understanding spiritual experiences
    • Working with the Akashic Records
    • Generational healing and breaking family patterns
    • Soul retrieval and calling lost parts of yourself back
    • Intuition as an inner navigation system
    • Healthy boundaries and reclaiming personal power
    • The divine feminine and goddess energy
    • Why grief, joy and transformation can coexist
    • The importance of authentic self-love
    • How our greatest hardships can become our greatest training ground
    • Why finding the right mentor or practitioner matters on the healing journey

    Highlights

Joy shares how sobriety became the beginning of a much deeper return to herself, and how spiritual experiences helped her understand there was something greater guiding her life.

We also talk about the power of soul retrieval, how trauma can fragment our sense of self, and why healing is often about calling those parts back rather than trying to become someone completely new.

The conversation moves through grief, intuition, personal power and the importance of living spirituality authentically, not only when someone is watching.

Joy leaves us with a powerful reminder that the experiences which challenge us the most often become the very thing that prepares us to help someone else.

  10. Healing Is Not One Session, One Breakthrough or One Big Cry

    Season 2, Episode 96

    Show notes

Healing Is Not One Session, One Breakthrough or One Big Cry

    Episode 96

Healing is not a magic pill, one breakthrough or one weekend retreat. Real change happens layer by layer, with honesty, repetition and responsibility.

    Episode overview

In this episode of the Spiritual Awakening Podcast, I talk about one of the biggest problems I see in the healing world, the promise that one session, one release or one powerful breakthrough can magically fix years of trauma, conditioning and emotional patterns.

Yes, one session can create a massive shift. It can open something, release something or help you see yourself differently. But lasting change comes from what happens afterwards.

We talk about why old patterns return, why you need to replace what you release with something healthier, how identity work becomes part of the healing process, and why the right practitioner should guide and empower you rather than make you dependent on them.

    In this episode, I discuss:

    • Why one healing session rarely changes everything
    • The difference between a breakthrough and lasting change
    • Why trauma and beliefs are often layered over many years
    • How old patterns return when the underlying program is never rewritten
    • Why repetition and continued practice matter
    • The role of EFT, hypnosis, Reiki, journalling and other healing tools
    • Why healing can feel uncomfortable even when staying the same feels worse
    • How identity work affects self-sabotage, addiction, relationships and confidence
    • Why practitioners should give you tools, not create dependency
    • How triggers can reveal the next layer that is ready to heal
    • Why quick-fix promises and “instant cure” marketing can be damaging
    • The importance of taking responsibility for your own healing journey

Key Takeaways from Healing is not One Session

Healing is not about erasing what happened or pretending the past never existed.

It is about understanding what happened, recognising who you became through it, releasing what no longer serves you and consciously choosing what comes next.

You may still get triggered. You may still revisit an old pattern. The goal is not to never experience a difficult emotion again. The goal is to have the awareness, tools and self-trust to move through it without falling all the way back into the place you once lived.

    There is no magic healer.

    There is no magic pill.

The real transformation happens when you commit to your own healing, practise what you have learned and become more of who you were underneath the layers in the first place.

    Show notes

From Despair to Divine Guidance: The Story Behind My Two New Books

Episode 95 - Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

These two books may look very different, but they tell two sides of the same story. One is about the life I lived, and the other is about the spiritual support that helped me find my way through it.

In this episode, I share why I am launching My Soul Activated: From Despair to a Life by Design and Journeys with the Archangels: A Practical Guide together, and why separating them never really made sense.

I talk about the loss, trauma, grief and physical symptoms that pushed me to question my life, the relationship with my Nan that changed how I saw myself, and how learning to ask for help from the Archangels became part of rebuilding my life.

This isn't an episode about everything that went wrong. It is about what happened afterwards. How I stopped allowing the past to define me, found my voice, learned what was mine to carry and began creating a life that actually felt like mine.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why My Soul Activated and Journeys with the Archangels belong together
    • How grief, trauma and complex PTSD affected my body
    • The question that helped me stop carrying emotions and burdens that weren't mine
    • Why surviving something does not mean it needs to define the rest of your life
    • How losing my Nan became one of the biggest turning points in my awakening
    • What reconnecting with my Nan taught me about forgiveness, family and my own worth
    • Why I was already spiritually connected long before trauma entered my life
    • How tarot helped me recognise and trust my intuitive abilities
    • The role the Archangels have played throughout my healing and spiritual development
    • Why you do not need to be psychic, religious or experienced in meditation to ask the Archangels for help
    • How Journeys with the Archangels became a practical guide rather than simply another book about angels
    • Why Archangels can guide and support you, but cannot walk your path for you
    • What is included in the book presale packages and why I wanted to create something special for the people supporting the launch
    • Why both books officially launch on 11 November 2026
    • How supporting an author during a presale or crowdfunding campaign helps bring the work into the world

    Highlights from this episode

I share the story of the physical spasms that appeared after my Nan's death and the psychiatrist who helped me understand the effect complex PTSD was having on my body.

I also talk about discovering the truth behind my relationship with my Nan and how knowing that she had wanted me completely changed the childhood belief that I had always been unwanted.

You'll hear how my intuitive abilities became impossible to ignore through tarot readings and predictions, and why learning to understand where that information came from eventually led me into a much deeper relationship with the Archangels.

I also take you behind the scenes of the two-book launch, including the Archangel journal, crystal packs, activation meditation, readings and the presale packages I have created for the people choosing to support these books before they are released.

These books represent a full-circle moment for me.

I grew up hiding what I knew and questioning who I was. Today I can share my story, my spiritual experiences and what I have learned without asking permission to be who I am.

Join the Presale and Help Bring These Books Into the World

These books have taken years of life, healing, spiritual connection and courage to bring together.

If My Soul Activated or Journeys with the Archangels speaks to you, joining the presale is one of the most meaningful ways you can support this next chapter.

Your support helps me bring the books, journals, crystals, packaging and everything surrounding this launch into physical form. More than that, you become part of the beginning of something I believe is meant to help people feel less alone, more connected and more supported in their own journey.

I have created special presale packages for those who want to be part of this with me, including options with the books, Archangel crystals, the companion journal, meditation and other extras depending on the package you choose.

If you feel called to support the launch, you can explore the presale options here:

    https://shazcini.com/books-presale/

Thank you to every person who has encouraged me, shared the journey, pre-ordered, spoken about the books or simply believed in what I am creating.

I do not take that support lightly.

These books are deeply personal to me, and knowing they will soon be sitting in the hands of people who need them means more than I can properly put into words.

Intuition or Anxiety? How to Tell the Difference

Episode 94, Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

Is it your intuition speaking, or is anxiety, fear and an activated nervous system running the show?

In this episode, I take you through the difference between intuition and anxiety in a practical, interactive way so you can start recognising what is actually happening in your mind and body.

We talk about why intuition usually feels calm, clear and simple, while anxiety creates urgency, overthinking, worst-case scenarios and the desperate need for certainty. I also explore how survival mode, trauma and hypervigilance can make it harder to trust your own inner guidance.

Throughout the episode, I give you real-life scenarios to help you test the difference for yourself, including relationships, delayed messages, tarot cards, spirit signs and those moments where you suddenly know you need to stop, wait, go somewhere or contact someone.

I also share some of my own intuitive experiences, including the signs that guided me back to Sydney, the purple elephant with pink polka dots, and the warning that may have prevented me from being involved in an accident.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • How intuition feels different from anxiety in your body
    • Why survival mode can make you scan for danger and confuse fear with guidance
    • The difference between a calm intuitive nudge and anxious overthinking
    • Why intuition often arrives before your analytical mind starts building the story
    • How to recognise your body's personal yes and no
    • Why feeling uncomfortable does not always mean something is wrong
    • The difference between unsafe and unfamiliar
    • How rejection, abandonment and old wounds can distort current situations
    • Why repeatedly asking psychics, tarot cards, pendulums or other people for answers can disconnect you from your own knowing
    • How spirit signs tend to arrive naturally rather than needing to be hunted for
    • Why developing intuition takes practice, evidence and self-trust
    • Five simple questions to help you work out whether you are experiencing intuition, anxiety, fear or conditioning

Your intuition does not need to bully you, frighten you or send you searching everywhere for more answers.

Sometimes it is simply the quiet knowing underneath all the noise.

The more you practise listening to that knowing, the easier it becomes to recognise when fear is running the show and when your soul is gently saying, this way.

    Grief and Joy Can Coexist

Episode 93, Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

Grief does not disappear because you choose to keep living. Joy does not mean you have forgotten the person you lost.

In this episode, I speak with author and podcast host Lee Mackay about losing her five-month-old daughter, Taylin, to spinal muscular atrophy and the spiritual connection that helped her survive unimaginable grief.

Lee shares how Taylin appeared healthy at birth before becoming critically ill, why she trusted her instincts when she knew something was wrong, and how her daughter’s short life became the beginning of a powerful legacy.

We talk about the message Lee received from Taylin on the night she passed, the signs that continue appearing 18 years later, and how dragonflies, rainbows, music and moments in nature remind her family that Taylin is still with them.

This conversation explores how grief and happiness can exist together, how trauma can continue affecting the body long after the event has ended, and why healing does not mean forgetting or moving on from the person you love.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why grief and joy can exist in the same life

You Slayed the Dragon. Stop Feeding It.

Episode 92 - Spiritual Awakening with Shaz

There comes a point in healing where you have to stop carrying the story of what happened as though it's still happening now. In this episode, I talk about the emotional baggage, old beliefs and survival patterns that continue influencing your relationships and choices long after the original experience has ended.

This isn't about denying trauma, dismissing grief or pretending the pain didn't matter. It's about recognising that you survived it, understanding what it taught you, and deciding that the past no longer gets to control your future.

We explore how repeated thoughts can keep old wounds active, how childhood labels become unconscious beliefs, and why forgiveness is often more about freeing yourself than excusing another person.

    In this episode, I discuss:

    * Why replaying the past keeps the emotional wound alive
    * How old stories can affect current relationships and choices
    * The difference between honouring pain and making it your identity
    * Why childhood beliefs often follow us into adulthood
    * How grief, anger and guilt can become confused or mislabelled
    * Why your body needs evidence of safety, not positive thinking alone
    * How changing your thoughts, words and focus can change what you create
    * Why you are your own rescue
    * How to stop giving people rent-free space in your mind
    * What it means to recognise yourself as the victor rather than the victim

You have already survived the hardest part. You slayed the dragon. Now it's time to stop feeding it, leave the past where it belongs, and build your future from who you are becoming.

Decoding the Body's Messages with Rachel Farnsworth

Episode 91 - Spiritual Awakening with Shaz
What if your body is not betraying you, but trying to get your attention?

    Episode Overview
In this episode, I speak with clinical hypnotherapist and author Rachel Farnsworth. We explore the emotional stories, subconscious beliefs and old experiences that may sit beneath physical symptoms.
Rachel shares how her own journey into hypnotherapy began. She talks about supporting her daughter through an autoimmune condition, and why curiosity became such an important part of healing for both of them.
We also explore how childhood experiences can create beliefs that follow us into adulthood. We look at the way triggers can reveal deeper wounds, and why the body may hold onto emotional patterns long after the original event has passed.
Rachel's book, Decoding the Body's Messages to Unlock Your Wisdom to Heal, explores these ideas in greater depth. It offers a different way to understand the relationship between the mind, body and spirit.
This conversation is a reminder that you are not broken. Your body may simply be asking you to listen differently.

    In This Episode, We Discuss

    • How the body may communicate through physical symptoms
    • The connection between the subconscious mind and emotional healing
    • Why childhood beliefs can continue shaping adult life
    • How triggers can point towards unresolved wounds
    • The emotional meaning Rachel connects with different areas of the body
    • Reframing trauma through strength rather than identity
    • Why healing is often about reconnecting with who you were before the conditioning

Witnessing Pure Channel: The Night Spirit Painted Through José Medrado

Episode 90: Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

What does channeling look like when you can physically watch Spirit move through someone’s body and create recognisable works of art?

    Episode overview

In this episode, Shaz shares her experience of witnessing Brazilian medium José Medrado channel master painters, including Renoir, Monet and Van Gogh, during a live spiritual painting demonstration.

Over the course of the evening, José moved in and out of trance while ten paintings were created in just over an hour. Some took only two or three minutes, while others took longer as different energies, techniques and artistic styles appeared through his body.

Shaz describes watching José’s eyes roll back, his body shudder as the energy entered, and his posture, facial expressions and hand movements change with each painter. Working mostly with acrylic paint, he used sponges, scrapers, his fingers, his hands and only a small number of traditional brushes.

The paintings were created while his eyes were closed, yet José reached for specific colours and tools with certainty. Each artist appeared to bring a different speed, movement, physical expression and style.

Shaz also shares the moment she instantly recognised a Monet painting before the artist’s name was announced, followed by a Van Gogh work containing the familiar circular movement she associated with his art.

This experience became more than an evening of painting. It offered a physical demonstration of trust, surrender and what can happen when someone allows themselves to become a vessel for Spirit.

    Key takeaways

    • Channeling can create noticeable physical changes in the voice, posture, expressions and movements of the person receiving the energy.
    • Spirit personalities can retain their humour, preferences and individual characteristics.
    • José used acrylic paint because it dries faster than the oil paints traditionally used by many of the master painters.
    • Different painters appeared to influence the tools, movements, speed and techniques used during each artwork.
    • José explained that not being an artist himself allowed him to channel without his own established artistic style getting in the way.
    • Deep trance channeling requires trust, practice, surrender and a strong understanding of your own energy.
    • Spiritual gifts can be expressed through painting, writing, music, healing, speaking, business and many other forms.
    • Gifts become more powerful when they are shared in service rather than hidden from the world.

    Highlights from this episode

Shaz shares José’s funny story about Renoir waking him during the night and insisting that he find a particular shade of paint.

She describes watching the energy move into and out of José’s body as each painter stepped forward.

José began and finished the demonstration with Renoir, allowing Shaz to recognise the same mannerisms, expressions and energy when the painter returned.

The second completed painting was instantly recognisable to Shaz as a Monet because of its flowers and distinctive style.

Another painting included circular movements that immediately reminded her of Van Gogh.

One spirit appeared shorter through José’s hunched posture, while another seemed taller and more elegant through the way his body moved.

The artworks were created using sponges, hands, fingers, scrapers, brushes and different methods of dabbing, smudging, blending and layering the paint.

Shaz reflects on the trust required to step back from the conscious mind and allow another energy to work through the physical body.

José’s paintings support charitable work and services in Brazil, turning his spiritual gift into practical service for others.

The Future of Psychic Readings: On-Demand Guidance, AI, and Spiritual Entrepreneurship, With Adam Frank

Episode 89: Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

What does the future of psychic readings look like when on-demand guidance, AI and spiritual entrepreneurship all begin to collide?

    Episode overview

The future of psychic readings is changing, and in this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, Shaz is joined by Adam Frank, founder and CEO of Hypsee, to explore what that change could look like for spiritual creators and their clients.

Adam shares how Hypsee evolved from the creator economy into a platform built specifically for spiritual entrepreneurs, offering tools for recorded readings, scheduled sessions, live services, pay-per-minute calls, client management and direct audience connection.

The conversation also moves into AI, authenticity, business growth, neurodivergence, spiritual awakening and the way our own perception shapes how we see the world.

This episode is about what happens when technology supports the work without replacing the person behind it.

Key Takeaways from the Future of Psychic Readings

    • The future of psychic readings may include more on-demand and pay-per-minute access.
    • Spiritual entrepreneurs can use technology to simplify bookings, payments, client management and service delivery.
    • Audience size does not always determine business success. Trust, engagement and the right offer matter.
    • AI can help with ideas and systems, but authenticity is lost when it tries to become the creator.
    • Spiritual awakening often begins when you stop assuming your perspective is the only correct one.
    • Neurodivergence helped Adam understand how differently people can experience the same world.
    • Your story, energy and way of working will attract the people who connect with you.
    • Starting small does not diminish your value.
    • The best way to grow is often to listen, choose what fits, take action, test it and adjust.

Highlights from The Future of Psychic Readings

    • How Hypsee evolved into a platform for spiritual creators.
    • Why Adam saw a growing opportunity in spiritual entrepreneurship.
    • The rise of recorded readings, live services and on-demand guidance.
    • How pay-per-minute calls may change access to psychic and spiritual services.
    • Why AI should support your work rather than replace your voice.
    • Adam’s journey from religion into spirituality.
    • How neurodivergence changed his understanding of perception and relationships.
    • Why spiritual awakening brings more question marks and fewer exclamation marks.
    • The importance of starting before everything feels perfect.
    • Why your individuality matters more than copying another creator.

    Show notes

Mindset: Change the Song, Change the Pattern

Episode 88: Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

What if the song stuck in your head could become the mindset shift that changes your life?

    Episode overview

In this fun and practical episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, Shaz explores how old thought patterns become familiar through repetition, emotion, rhythm and body memory.

Instead of forcing yourself to “think positive” when your body does not believe it yet, Shaz shows how to use songs, jingles, EFT tapping, movement and everyday tunes to create new mindset patterns around health, wealth, self-worth, safety and happiness.

From Baby Shark to The Wiggles, Let It Go to Let It Flow, mirror work, tapping sequences and money affirmations, this episode is a playful reminder that healing does not always have to feel heavy. Sometimes the most ridiculous thing is the thing that finally gets past the inner critic.

This is about taking the tune already stuck in your head and making it work for you instead of against you.

    Key takeaways

    • Your unconscious mind learns through repetition, rhythm, emotion and familiarity.
    • Old thoughts often feel true because they have been repeated for years, not because they are actually true.
    • Music, jingles, nursery rhymes and advertising slogans stick because they create strong memory pathways in the brain.
    • EFT tapping, singing, actions and movement can help bring mindset work into the body.
    • You can use familiar tunes privately to create your own mindset shifts around money, health, love, safety and confidence.
    • Humour and silliness can interrupt old fear patterns because they break the usual emotional loop.
    • “Let it go” helps release the old, while “let it flow” helps welcome in money, health, love, peace and support.
    • Mirror work becomes more powerful when you add rhythm, tapping, kindness and repetition.
    • You do not have to believe a new thought perfectly at first. You practise it until it becomes familiar.
    • There is plenty more where that came from, and that applies to money, health, joy, love, support and the next version of you.

    Highlights from this episode

    • Why your old mindset patterns may be running quietly in the background.
    • How advertising jingles, nursery rhymes and kids’ songs show us the power of repetition.
    • The reason Baby Shark can drive you mad, and how to turn that same rhythm into a mindset upgrade.
    • How Wiggles-style actions, clapping, tapping and movement can create body-based memory shifts.
    • Why singing “I am safe,” “I am well,” “I receive,” or “I am love” can interrupt old programming.
    • How to use “Let It Go” as a release tool and “Let It Flow” as a receiving practice.
    • Why affirmations can feel flat when the nervous system does not feel safe yet.
    • How Shaz uses her own money jingle to shift from fear into flow.
    • The power of mirror work when you stop attacking yourself and start seeing who you are becoming.
    • A reminder that healing can be playful, practical, emotional and a little bit ridiculous.

    Jingles and mindset examples mentioned

You can use these privately with familiar rhythms, tapping or movement to create your own mindset shift.

    • I am love.
    • I am rich.
    • I am well.
    • I am safe.
    • I receive.
    • There is more.
    • Money flows now.
    • I am safe now.
    • I am well now.
    • I see me now.
    • I love me now.
    • Old fear, let it go.
    • New me, let it grow.

    Tapping sequence mentioned

Use this as a simple release and receive tapping round.

    Release round:

    • Eyebrow: Let it go.
    • Side of the eye: Let the old fear go.
    • Under the eye: Let the old story go.
    • Under the nose: Let the old shame go.
    • Chin: Let the old pattern go.
    • Collarbone: Let the tightness go.
    • Under the arm: Let the struggle go.
    • Top of the head: I am safe to let it go.

    Receiving round:

    • Eyebrow: Let it flow.
    • Side of the eye: Let the money flow.
    • Under the eye: Let the health flow.
    • Under the nose: Let the happiness flow.
    • Chin: Let the love flow.
    • Collarbone: Let the support flow.
    • Under the arm: Let the peace flow.
    • Top of the head: I am ready to let it flow.

    Money jingle from the episode

    • Every dollar that I spend,
    • Comes back to me, my lucky friend.
    • Ten times over, it multiplies,
    • Like rivers under the skies.
    • There’s always more where that came from,
    • Money’s beating like a drum.
    • I spend, I give, I love the flow,
    • Money’s dancing, watch it grow.

    Reflection prompts

    • What old thought keeps repeating in the background of your mind?
    • Where did that thought come from?
    • Does that belief still support the version of you that you are becoming?
    • What phrase would feel better, safer or more empowering to repeat instead?
    • What familiar tune, rhythm, action or tapping pattern could you use to make that new thought stick?

Listen if you are ready to

    • Stop making mindset work so heavy.
    • Shift old thought patterns with more ease.
    • Use tapping, music and movement to support your healing.
    • Create new beliefs around money, health, love and happiness.
    • Make your mindset practice fun enough that you actually want to do it.
    • Start becoming the version of you that already knows there is plenty more where that came from.

    Closing invitation

If this episode sparked something in you, choose one old pattern this week and turn it into a song, chant, tapping round or silly little jingle that your mind can actually remember.

    Make it fun.

    Make it yours.

    Let the old pattern go.

    Let the new version flow.

And remember, beautiful, you are not broken. You are remembering who you are.

There is plenty more where that came from.

    Season 2, Episode 87

    Show notes

Ho’oponopono Healing: How to Make Things Right, Cut Cords and Find Peace

Episode 87 - Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

Ho’oponopono is a simple but powerful Hawaiian healing practice that uses four phrases:

    I’m sorry.
    Please forgive me.
    Thank you.
    I love you.

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, Shaz introduces Ho’oponopono, what the word means, how it works energetically, and why this practice can help you clear old pain, release energetic cords, reset relationships and come back to peace.

Shaz explains that Ho’oponopono means “to make right, right.” Ho’o means “to make” and pono means “right.” With pono repeated twice, the deeper meaning becomes making it right with me and making it right with you.

This does not mean you need to face the person who hurt you or have a dramatic conversation. Ho’oponopono can be used as a metaphysical, meditative, visualisation or journalling practice. It helps you release yourself from the cords, ties, memories, trauma and emotional charge that keep you connected to old pain.

This episode also explores soul-level forgiveness, personal responsibility, childhood wounds, energetic cord cutting, journalling prompts, relationship clearing, self-forgiveness and why freedom often begins when you stop waiting for another person to apologise.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • What Ho’oponopono means
    • Why Ho’oponopono is more than a spiritual quote
    • How the four phrases help clear emotional energy
    • Why “I love you” is spoken from a soul level, not always a human behaviour level
    • How to make right with yourself and another person energetically
    • Why you do not need the other person present to use this practice
    • How old childhood memories can create adult patterns
    • Why small moments can become big unconscious stories
    • How Ho’oponopono can support abundance, receiving and self-worth healing
    • Why forgiveness does not mean excusing harmful behaviour
    • How cord cutting and Ho’oponopono can work together
    • How to journal with Ho’oponopono
    • Why self-forgiveness matters just as much as forgiving others
    • How this practice can help reset relationships and clear energetic charge
    • Why freedom comes from taking responsibility for your own healing

    Key themes in this episode:

    • Ho’oponopono
    • Ho’oponopono healing
    • Hawaiian forgiveness prayer
    • Cord cutting
    • Energetic clearing
    • Self-forgiveness
    • Relationship healing
    • Soul-level love
    • Emotional release
    • Trauma healing
    • Childhood wounds
    • Inner child healing
    • Abundance blocks
    • Receiving
    • Forgiveness practice
    • Journalling prompts
    • Spiritual awakening
    • Personal responsibility
    • Energy healing
    • Making things right

A powerful reminder from this episode:

Ho’oponopono is not about pretending nothing happened.

It is not about excusing harmful behaviour.

The practice helps you clear what you are still carrying, return energy that does not belong to you, call your own energy back, and release the emotional charge from your body, mind and spirit.

You can love someone at a soul level and still have boundaries.

You can forgive and still walk away.

    Peace does not require access.

    What Ho’oponopono means

Shaz explains the meaning of Ho’oponopono by breaking down the word:

    Ho’o means to make.

    Pono means right.

    Pono is repeated twice.

So the deeper meaning becomes making right, making right.

    Making it right with me.

    Making it right with you.

This is not always done face to face. In many cases, the work happens energetically, metaphysically, through journalling, visualisation, meditation or prayer.

    The four Ho’oponopono phrases

    The four phrases are:

    I’m sorry.
    Please forgive me.
    Thank you.
    I love you.

Shaz explains that “I’m sorry” does not always mean you were wrong. Sometimes it means you are acknowledging the pain, the memory, the burden, the story, the misunderstanding or the part of you that has been carrying it for too long.

“Please forgive me” can be about forgiving yourself, asking forgiveness from the other person’s soul, releasing blame, or recognising where you allowed a pattern to continue because you did not know better yet.

“Thank you” honours the lesson, even when the experience was painful.

“I love you” is not about approving of someone’s behaviour. It is about seeing from the soul level and releasing the emotional hook with love, discernment and finality.

    Shaz shares:

In this episode, Shaz shares how a childhood memory around being told no created a deeper pattern around receiving, abundance and self-worth.

As a young child, something as simple as wanting a lolly and being told no became connected to a story of not being worthy, not being able to receive, or not being allowed to ask.

Years later, that small moment revealed a much bigger energetic pattern.

Through Ho’oponopono, Shaz was able to sit with the memory, make peace with the person involved, release the old story, and understand that a young mind had created meaning where there had only been a simple moment of life.

This episode reminds us that some of the biggest patterns in adulthood can come from small moments that were never processed properly at the time.

    Cord cutting with Ho’oponopono

Shaz also shares how she uses Ho’oponopono with cord cutting.

This can be done by visualising the person, memory or situation in front of you, noticing where the energetic cord sits in your body, cutting or clearing the cord, then repeating the mantra:

    I’m sorry.
    Please forgive me.
    Thank you.
    I love you.

    You can also say:

    • I release you.
    • I release me.
    • I return my energy back to me.
    • I return your energy back to you.
    • I choose peace now.

This practice helps clear unhealthy attachments without hate. It allows you to release the energetic charge while returning to love at a soul level.

A simple journalling practice from this episode

Choose a person, situation, memory, relationship or pattern that still feels active in your body.

Write their name or the situation at the top of the page.

    Then ask:

    • What am I still carrying here?
    • What about this situation still triggers me?
    • Is there a part of me wanting to be witnessed?
    • Where did I abandon myself?
    • What lesson is ready to be received?

Then use the four phrases as journalling prompts:

    I’m sorry for…

    Please forgive me for…

    Thank you for…

    I love you because…

This practice can be used for relationships, childhood wounds, money, your body, old versions of yourself, family patterns, friendships, strangers, regrets, self-sabotage or anything still looping in your mind.

    Soul-level love and forgiveness

One of the deeper teachings in this episode is the difference between loving someone at a soul level and approving of their behaviour.

Shaz explains that saying “I love you” in Ho’oponopono does not mean you excuse betrayal, abandonment, manipulation, hurt ...

Kindness Without Boundaries Is Self-Abandonment: The Difference Between Compassion and Carrying

Episode 86 - Spiritual Awakening with Shaz Podcast

Have you ever opened up your heart, your home, or your energy to help someone, only to find yourself feeling exhausted, resentful, and completely drained? When you have a deeply compassionate and empathetic heart, it is so easy to see the pain in others and want to support them while they find their ground.

But there is a thin line between being kind and completely abandoning yourself.

In this episode of Spiritual Awakening with Shaz, Shaz opens up about a recent lived experience that brought up old patterns, old lessons, and old ways of being. She breaks down why kindness without clear boundaries turns your compassion into an obligation, allowing someone to live in your nervous system rent-free.

At its core, loving others should never mean losing yourself or giving away all your power.

Through learning how to listen to the whispers of your body, distinguishing between supporting someone and rescuing them, and healing childhood conditioning that tells you to play small, you can reclaim your personal power and step into total alignment.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • What happens when kindness becomes self-abandonment.
    • Why over-giving turns your beautiful compassion into an unwanted obligation.
    • How your body and intuition read the room and feel energy shifts long before your mind admits it.
    • The physical cost of over-giving, including why throat issues, colds, and flu manifest when you refuse to speak up.
    • How to spot the subtle warning signs of boundary-pushing, like sly comments and strange energies.
    • The danger of choosing peace on the outside while creating an absolute war of internal pressure on the inside.
    • How to move from feeling like a victim of your circumstances into becoming a powerhouse goddess who learns from her patterns.
    • The vital difference between truly supporting someone and heavily carrying them.
    • Why some people in your life simply cannot celebrate your successes, gains, or abundance due to underlying envy or control issues.
    • How to stop hiding your light under a "spiritual potato sack" just to make others feel comfortable.
    • Shaz's personal story of uncovering and healing a childhood block from age nine about playing small.
    • Why growth doesn't mean you will never be triggered again—it’s all about speeding up your recovery process.
    • How setting clear terms, agreements, and expectations early prevents messy resentment at the end.
    • A powerful 5-question filter to use before rushing into a "yes".

    Key themes in this episode:

    • Boundary setting
    • Self-abandonment vs. Self-love
    • Compassion vs. Carrying
    • Intuition and body wisdom
    • Energetic boundaries
    • Throat chakra and speaking your truth
    • Over-giving and resentment
    • Celebrating wins and success
    • Overcoming childhood conditioning
    • Trigger recovery and inner growth
    • People pleasing
    • Personal power and alignment

A powerful reminder from this episode:

Kindness without boundaries is self-abandonment.It is not your job to carry what is not yours to hold. You can still be a warm, generous, and loving soul without being endlessly available for imbalance. Real freedom lives in knowing exactly who you are, what your value is, what you allow, and what you will no longer negotiate against.

    What compassion is not

    • Compassion is not adjusting your entire routine, putting yourself last, and absorbing someone else’s discomfort to prove you are kind.
    • It is not enabling bad behavior or rescuing people to avoid feeling guilty.
    • Staying silent to keep the peace on the outside while feeling completely unsettled on the inside is not love—it is self-betrayal.

    What compassion really is

    • Compassion is supporting someone while firmly maintaining your own line in the sand.
    • It is providing help under clear terms, timelines, and expectations that protect your well-being.
    • Real compassion empowers others to stand on their own feet without requiring you to shrink, play small, or hide your blessings.

    Shaz's Healing Story

In this episode, Shaz shares a raw personal reflection on a recent boundary-testing situation that brought up an old childhood block. She discovered a pattern traced all the way back to when she was nine years old—a conditioning that taught her to play small, fade into the background, and not draw attention to herself so she wouldn't upset someone else who wasn't experiencing the same success.

By choosing to look closely at this old lesson, Shaz sat with the pattern, healed it, and consciously chose to change how she celebrates each and every step of her journey. The lesson? Growth isn't about never getting triggered; it's about your recovery process, knowing what energy is yours versus what isn't, and consciously rising back up in vibration.

A simple boundary practice from this episode

Before you rush into a "yes" that might cause you to over-give, take a pause and do a simple energetic reset. Ask yourself these 5 questions:

    • Do I actually want to do this?
    • Is there physical, emotional, or energetic capacity for it?
    • What terms and timelines am I willing to assist under?
    • Are there any boundaries that need to be spoken out loud before I begin?
    • What will the emotional, physical, financial, or energetic cost be to me?

Remember: A delayed yes or a clean no is always better than a messy, resentful yes!

    This week’s reflection

    Ask yourself:

    • Where am I being kind but finding myself secretly resentful or exhausted?
    • Is there any area of my life where I am saying "yes" while my body is screaming "no"?
    • Am I giving someone access to my life that they haven't actually earned?
    • What would change if I honored a boundary before resentment had a chance to build up?

Then take one honest action. Trust your body when it whispers, set your expectations early, and remember you first.

    Make it fun.

    Make it simple.

    Make it yours.
