AAS 005: cowboy like me
Welcome back to The Academy of Advanced Studies, where Taylor Swift songs are subjected to wildly unnecessary academic analysis. 🎓
This week, the faculty is examining cowboy like me — a song about love, deception, and apparently the emotional devastation of realizing what the lyrics actually mean.
Following last week's evermore investigation, Maria has officially entered her no longer a Joe Alwyn fan era. Unfortunately, the consequences of that revelation are still being felt throughout the Academy.
Meanwhile, Kristen has spent YEARS enthusiastically belting out cowboy like me, only to discover that forever might literally be the sweetest con.
Six years of singing. One devastating realization. Absolutely no emotional preparation.
At some point, the words “Taylor Swift has ruined my life” enter the conversation, and frankly, that feels like an appropriate summary of the semester.
In this week's lecture:
•
🤠 Two con artists, one love story, and some questionable intentions.
•
💔 Kristen discovers what she's actually been singing for six years.
•
🕵️ The faculty investigates whether forever is romantic or the ultimate con.
•
🚫 Maria's ongoing disillusionment with Joe Alwyn.
•
🎓 Another perfectly good song ruined by reading the lyrics too closely.
Was it true love? Was it the perfect con? Or did Taylor Swift just hurt Kristen's feelings for absolutely no reason?
Join Maria, Megan, and Kristen as we attempt to find answers and somehow leave with more emotional damage.

AAS 004: evermore
🎓 Class is in session at The Academy of Advanced Studies.
This week, Maria, Megan, and Kristen are diving into Taylor Swift's evermore — and apparently, one interpretation wasn't nearly enough.
What starts as an analysis of heartbreak, healing, and the possibility of finding happiness again quickly turns into a full-blown academic investigation. Four different theories, several competing interpretations, and one rather significant revelation from Maria later, the faculty may have more questions than answers.
Is this a song about moving on? Looking back? Finding closure? Or something else entirely?
And what exactly did Maria discover along the way? 👀
Join us as we dissect the lyrics, debate the meaning, reconsider everything, and attempt to reach a conclusion. No guarantees.

AAS 003: Two Is Better Than One
Class is officially in session at The Academy of Advanced Studies!
This week, we're heading back to 2009 to examine Two Is Better Than One by Boys Like Girls featuring Taylor Swift.
Is it a beautiful love song? A wedding-worthy declaration of romance? Or a song that somehow has both too much and not enough to analyze?
Maria, Megan, and Kristen are back to dissect the lyrics, debate the emotional substance, and determine whether this song really deserves a spot on anyone's wedding playlist.
Somewhere along the way, we introduce the highly scientific concept of "equal meats," question the romantic appeal of a constricted airway, and discover that one faculty member may never willingly listen to this song again.
Academic standards are high. Faculty disagreements are inevitable. The amount of meat remains under investigation. 😂

AAS 002: Should've Said No
Class is officially in session. 🎓
This week at The Academy of Advanced Studies, we're going back to 2006 to investigate one of Taylor Swift's earliest lessons in love, betrayal, and the consequences of making spectacularly bad decisions.
Our assigned reading? Should've Said No.
On the surface, it's a teenage breakup anthem. But naturally, the faculty has questions.
Who is really responsible here? Why is she the one left asking questions? Is this heartbreak, accountability, or a masterclass in setting boundaries? And how did teenage Taylor manage to deliver such a devastating closing argument?
Maria, Megan, and Kristen are back with their annotated lyrics, questionable theories, and wildly unnecessary levels of investigation as we dissect the words, the emotions, and everything hiding between the lines.
Because at The Academy, we don't just sing along. We demand answers.
This week's coursework:
•
Betrayal, blame, and accountability
•
The questions we should probably be asking
•
The lyrics that deserve a second look
•
The emotional damage of early Taylor Swift
•
And, as always, a few completely unnecessary tangents
Whether you've been screaming this song since 2006 or you're hearing it with fresh ears, consider this your invitation to revisit the evidence.
Class is in session. Enrollment is always open.

AAS 001: right where you left me
Season 1, Episode 1
Show notes
Enrollment is officially open. 🎓
For our inaugural session, we're taking on “right where you left me” — and apparently none of us are capable of simply listening to a song and moving on with our lives.
We’re examining the lyrics, literary references, psychology, timelines, lore, suspicious details, The Ex Files, and several completely unsubstantiated theories presented with alarming confidence.
Why is she still at the restaurant? Why is she 23? Who exactly left her there? And how many increasingly questionable connections can three women make before someone revokes our academic credentials?
Welcome to AAS 001.
Class is in session.
