The Art of Pre-Selling
I'm Amber Shaw. I spent 18 years in sales before I ever became a coach, and I've built two six-figure coaching businesses from scratch since then. What I know after all of it is that getting clients isn't about posting more, chasing the algorithm, or finding another magical strategy. It's about what happens BEFORE the sales call.
That's the pre-sell. It's how you position your offer, talk about the problem your ideal client actually wants solved, and turn your Instagram content, your DMs, and your conversations into clients who are already sold before they ever get on a call with you.
Every week you'll get real tools you can use that same day for your messaging, your content, your DM conversations, and your sales calls. Nothing cookie cutter, and nothing that's gonna make you feel gross and salesy.
Follow the show, and let's get you clients on repeat.

501. What Coaches Get Wrong About Selling During The Holidays
Episode 501
Show notes
Think nobody's buying coaching during the holidays? Think again.
Every year, November rolls around, and I hear coaches saying the same thing: "Nobody's buying right now. I'll just pick things back up in January."
But here's what I want you to understand. Just because someone isn't ready to buy today doesn't mean she's stopped thinking about the problem you help her solve. And it definitely doesn't mean she's stopped paying attention to you.
In this episode of The Art of Pre-Selling, I'm talking about why November and December are NOT the months to disappear from your business, especially if you want to start 2027 signing clients. We're getting into why your messaging needs to shift with the season, what your potential clients are actually doing before they make a buying decision, and how to use these next two months to build trust and create demand for your coaching.
And if you've been posting consistently but still aren't getting inquiries or sales calls? We're talking about that, too. Because posting more, switching platforms, or waiting until January isn't going to magically fix messaging that isn't connecting with the right women.
If you've been telling yourself you'll get serious about signing clients again in January, then this episode is for you.
What I Discuss:
• 00:44 Why the idea that nobody buys during November and December isn't the whole story
• 03:26 How to adjust your content to speak to what your ideal client is experiencing right now, instead of using the same messaging all year long
• 05:10 Why women may be watching, learning, and deciding who they want to work with months before they're ready to invest
• 08:44 What to look at when you're posting three to five times a week but still aren't getting inquiries, conversations, or paying clients
• 13:40 Why November and December are the perfect time to strengthen your messaging, build visibility, bring in new leads, and get your pre-selling ecosystem workingFind more from Amber Shaw:

500. The End of an Era | Welcome to The Art of Pre-Selling
Episode 500
Show notes
500 episodes. Three different versions of this podcast. And one mission that hasn't changed since day one.
Holy sh*t, we made it to Episode 500! And to celebrate, I've got a pretty big announcement. We're officially saying goodbye to The Divorce Revolution and welcoming a brand-new chapter: The Art of Pre-Selling!
Today, I'm taking you behind the scenes of how we got here, why I've decided to rebrand the show AGAIN, and what this next chapter means for you.
This podcast has been through some serious changes over the years. We started with The Wellness Revolution, where I talked about all things health and wellness. Then came The Divorce Revolution, a chapter that was deeply personal to me because of my own experience with divorce and how having my own money gave me the freedom to make some really hard decisions.
And now? We're entering a new era.
I'm sharing why I decided to walk away from a top 2% globally ranked podcast, what I've learned about evolving your business without burning everything down, and why helping women make their own damn money has ALWAYS been at the heart of everything I do.
But I'm also breaking down what The Art of Pre-Selling is really about, because this isn't just a new podcast name. I'm talking about helping women who are already damn good coaches figure out how to actually sign clients consistently. Not just through referrals or the occasional lucky Instagram post, but by building a repeatable process that gets the right women interested in your coaching BEFORE they ever get on a sales call.
We're talking messaging, positioning, content, conversations, offers, and all the pieces that need to work together so signing clients doesn't feel like such a guessing game every month. And I'm giving you a little preview of what you can expect from me every single week moving forward.
So whether you've been listening since The Wellness Revolution, joined me during The Divorce Revolution, or you're brand new here, I'm so freaking excited to bring you along for what's next.
If you've been coaching real clients and KNOW you're good at what you do, but you're tired of wondering where your next paying client is coming from, then this new chapter is for you.

• 08:35 How having my own money changed my experience of divorce and why financial freedom matters so much to me
• 12:58 Why I'm officially introducing The Art of Pre-Selling and who I want to help in this next chapter

499. Why Your Business Strategy Isn't Working (And What Your Stage of Business Has to Do With It)
Episode 499
Show notes
You've invested in the courses, tried different strategies, maybe even created a low-ticket offer or a membership. But you're STILL struggling to sign clients consistently. What if the problem isn't that you haven't found the right strategy, but that you're investing in strategies your coaching business isn't ready for yet?
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, we're talking about something I see happen ALL the time with coaches who are doing everything they think they're supposed to do but aren't seeing the sales they want. Because listen, there are a million different ways to grow an online coaching business: ads, funnels, webinars, memberships, group programs, you name it. And I'm not saying those strategies don't work but just because a strategy is working for another coach doesn't mean it's the right move for YOUR business right now.
Today, I'm breaking down why knowing what stage of business you're in matters so much, what needs to be working BEFORE you start adding more strategies, and how to figure out where your current client attraction process is breaking down. I'm also sharing the story of a client who had 14,000 followers and was getting people into her DMs but still couldn't convert them into paying clients. She thought she needed more offers, but that wasn't her problem at all.
If you've been investing in courses, trying new strategies, and adding more offers to your coaching business but still can't figure out why you're not signing clients consistently, then this episode is for you.

498. The #1 Mistake Coaches Make That Keep Them In Feast Or Famine Mode
Episode 498
Show notes
One of the biggest mistakes I see coaches make is constantly chasing the next strategy. They sign a few clients, have a slow month, decide whatever they were doing isn't working, and move on to the next freebie, workshop, or launch. And then they wonder why they're still struggling to get consistent clients.
Today, I'm breaking down why constantly switching strategies keeps you stuck in feast-or-famine mode, the difference between unpredictable revenue and unpredictable client acquisition, and why having one repeatable promotion is so important.
We're also talking about why you need to STOP abandoning a strategy just because it didn't work the first time, how to use your numbers to figure out what's actually going wrong, and why getting consistent clients doesn't mean getting the exact same results every month. Because you don't need to keep reinventing how you get clients. You need a strategy you can run, learn from, refine, and get better at every single time.
If you've been signing clients here and there but keep jumping from one strategy to the next hoping something will finally bring you consistent sales, then this episode is for you.

497. How to Create Bonuses That Actually Help Sell Your Coaching Offer
Episode 497
Show notes
Is your bonus actually making your offer more compelling, or are you just giving your clients more stuff to do?
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm talking about something I got wrong for a LONG time: bonuses.
I used to think a great bonus meant giving people more. Another course. Another training. Another call. More resources. More value, right? Not necessarily. Because your buyer probably isn't sitting there thinking, "You know what would make me buy this? Another 50-page workbook." In fact, piling more into your offer can actually create MORE hesitation, especially when she's already wondering whether she has enough time to do the actual program.
So instead of asking, "What else can I give them?" I'm showing you how to think about your bonuses like a marketer.

496. 3 Ways to Run a Black Friday Sale in 2026
Episode 496
Show notes
You know what you're selling for Black Friday but how the heck should you actually sell it?
Do you slash the price? Add a bunch of bonuses? Bundle things together? And once you've figured that out, how do you actually promote the thing without scrambling at the last minute?
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm breaking down exactly how I think about structuring a Black Friday promotion so you can stop overcomplicating it and get your offer out there. We're talking about three different ways you can structure your sale: discounting an offer, keeping your price the same and adding a strategic bonus, or creating a limited Black Friday bundle from things you already have. And I'm walking you through when each one makes sense.
If you know you want to run a Black Friday sale but you're stuck trying to figure out the offer, the discount, the bonuses, or how you're actually going to promote it, this episode is for you.

494. The Subtle Messaging Mistake That Makes You Look More Like A Friend Than A Coach
Episode 494
Show notes
What if the reason people engage with your content but don't hire you is because they see you as a friend instead of the coach?
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm talking about a subtle messaging mistake I see coaches make all the time: being so focused on being relatable that they forget to show their audience they can actually lead them somewhere.
And listen, I'm NOT telling you to stop being relatable. Your ideal client needs those "me too" moments. She needs to know that you understand what she's going through, especially when you've lived through a similar transformation yourself.
But your content can't always stop there.
If every post and DM leaves her thinking, "She's just like me," but never, "She sees something I don't see yet," you may be building connection without building enough authority for her to trust you as her coach.
I'm breaking down the difference between peer mode and coach mode, including how one of my clients realized she was commiserating with her audience instead of offering the insight she already had. I'll also show you how to take a relatable experience and give it meaning so your content starts positioning you as the person who can help move her forward.
If people are engaging with your content but you're struggling to turn that connection into clients, then this episode is for you.

493. How to Fill 50% of Your Launch Before It Even Opens
Episode 493
Show notes
What if you walked into your next launch with people already ready to buy?
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm breaking down one of the biggest mistakes I see coaches make when they launch: waiting until the doors open to start selling.
You can spend weeks building the offer, writing the emails, creating the sales page, making the graphics, and getting every little detail ready. But if launch day comes and that's when you start thinking about how you're going to get people to buy, you're starting way too late.
Your sales process should begin long before the cart opens.
I'm walking you through the pre-selling runway I use to build demand before a promotion, from warming up the specific problem your offer solves to identifying the people who are already raising their hands and getting into real conversations with them.
If you're used to opening the doors and then scrambling to figure out how to fill your offer, this episode is for you.

492. The $40K Month That Almost Ruined My Business
Episode 492
Show notes
One great month can prove something is possible. It does NOT prove you've built something you can repeat.
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm sharing a story I've never told on the podcast before, and if I'm being real, it's one I haven't always felt comfortable talking about.
Back in 2023, my health and wellness business was doing really well. I'd built it to multiple six figures, I was making consistent revenue, and then I hit my first $40K month. I thought I had finally reached the point where I was ready to scale.
So I went all in. I hired an ad agency, started spending thousands on ads, and assumed I could take what was working and simply make it bigger.
Except I couldn't.
Within months, launches were flopping, the debt was climbing, and eventually I found myself $100K in the hole wondering if I had completely screwed up the business I'd spent years building.
Today, I'm walking you through what happened next, why I had to strip everything back to the basics, and how returning to the pre-selling strategies that had actually built my business changed the way I think about growth and scaling today.
If you've had some wins in your coaching business but still couldn't confidently tell me how to repeat them, then this episode is for you.

490. The Real Reason You're Censoring Your Content
Episode 465
Show notes
You don't fear posting—you fear who might be watching.
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm talking about the real reason so many coaches hold back from being fully visible online and why it usually has less to do with confidence or imposter syndrome than we think. fileciteturn97file0
The truth is, most of us aren't afraid of being judged by strangers. We're worried about the ex-husband, family member, old coworker, school mom, or person from our past who might see us becoming someone new and think, "Who does she think she is?"
I'm breaking down why building a business sometimes requires giving yourself permission to outgrow other people's perception of you, even when they're still attached to an older version of who you were.
I also share the real cost of softening your opinions, deleting the Reel, or talking yourself out of sharing the story that could help someone feel seen. Because every time you choose invisibility to protect yourself from judgment, the people who need your message lose the opportunity to find you.
If you've been censoring your content because you're worried about what people you know might think, then this episode is for you.

Want clients who are already sold before they ever book a call? It starts with building a pre-selling ecosystem that works even when you're not selling.
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm wrapping up the Sold Before the Call series by pulling back the curtain on my own pre-selling ecosystem and showing you exactly how I built it leading up to launching The Selling Sprint.
I'm walking you through the exact process I use—from gathering market research and paying attention to what my audience is actually telling me, to building content, emails, Stories, and personal outreach that all work together toward one goal. You'll see how every piece of your business can become part of a system that consistently nurtures, builds trust, and turns warm leads into paying clients.
The best part? You don't need to be launching a big program to use this. Whether you're filling 1:1 coaching spots or preparing for your next launch, the same pre-selling principles apply.
If you've been wondering how to create a business that consistently attracts clients instead of constantly chasing them, then this episode is for you.

Your content shouldn't just get attention. It should build trust before you ever make an offer.
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm sharing one of my favorite storytelling frameworks for creating content that does more than get likes—it helps strangers feel seen, builds trust, and naturally moves them closer to becoming clients.
If you've been following the Sold Before the Call series, you already know that the sale shouldn't happen on the discovery call. It happens through everything you build beforehand.
Today, I'm showing you exactly how to do that through your content.
I'm walking you through my SHIFT Formula—the storytelling framework I teach my clients to create captions that connect on a deeper level, position them as the obvious choice, and become part of a strong pre-selling ecosystem. We'll break down each step of the formula, why storytelling is such a powerful sales skill, and how to stop creating content that simply educates and start creating content that actually converts.
I'll also share real client examples of how this framework has helped women grow their audiences, build trust, and create more conversations that lead to clients.
If you've been wondering why your content gets engagement but isn't turning strangers into buyers, then this episode is for you.

Want easier sales calls? Stop trying to sell on them.
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm diving into what I believe is the missing piece almost every coach overlooks when it comes to signing consistent clients: pre-selling.
For years, I've watched coaches pour all their energy into creating content and learning what to say on a discovery call, yet they still struggle to turn conversations into paying clients.
Why? Because almost no one teaches what happens in between.
I'm breaking down the concept of pre-selling—a framework I've refined after 18 years in sales plus seven years as a business coach. It's everything you intentionally build before someone ever books a discovery call, from the trust you create through your content to the conversations you have in the DMs and the connection you build long before an offer is ever made.
When you get this right, your sales calls stop feeling like high-pressure events where you have to convince someone to work with you. Instead, they become a natural confirmation that you're the right fit.
If you've been wondering why people enjoy your content but aren't booking calls—or why your sales calls feel harder than they should—then this episode is for you.

What I Discuss:
• 00:53 Why pre-selling is the missing piece in most coaching businesses
• 01:54 The "missing middle" between posting content and signing clients
• 05:28 What pre-selling actually means—and why I created this framework
• 07:29 Why relying on your sales call to do all the work creates unnecessary pressure
• 09:54 Why pre-selling is an ecosystem, not a script or sales tactic
• 11:23 A real example of what active pre-selling looks like
• 16:00 Why genuine connection builds more trust than automation ever will
• 16:35 The kind of content that naturally pre-sells your coaching
• 18:18 Self-check questions to see if your business is truly pre-selling

What if the thing keeping your coaching business stuck isn't your content but the way you're thinking about sales?
In this episode of The Divorce Revolution Podcast, I'm kicking off a brand-new five-part series called Sold Before the Call, where I'm breaking down the sales mindset and systems I believe the coaching industry has been missing.
When I first started my coaching business, I thought my biggest job was becoming a great coach. What I wasn't prepared for was all the other hats I'd have to wear—copywriter, content creator, marketer, CEO...and the one role nobody really talks about: salesperson.
The truth is, being a great coach and building a successful coaching business are two completely different skill sets. So today I'm sharing why sales isn't a one-time event that happens on a discovery call. It's a mindset. It's a daily practice. And it's the difference between coaches who hope clients show up and coaches who know how to create consistent revenue.
I'll also walk you through the daily habits of top-performing sales professionals, how to shift from passive to active energy, and why learning to think like a sales rep doesn't make you pushy—it makes you a better business owner.
If you've been spending more time perfecting your content than intentionally creating sales opportunities, then this episode is for you.
What I Discuss:
• 00:59 The many hats coaches wear and the one most people avoid
• 02:26 Why sales isn't a single event, but a daily mindset
• 03:10 Why I created the Sold Before the Call series
• 07:00 A preview of my new Selling Sprint program
• 07:59 The trap of avoiding sales by staying "busy" with other tasks
• 10:25 The commission-based mindset that changed how I approach business
• 13:13 The daily habits every coach can borrow from great sales reps
• 16:47 Why follow-up, tracking your numbers, and knowing your pipeline matter
• 21:03 A self-audit to help you identify where you're being passive in your business
• 22:26 Your homework before Part 2 of the series

If you've ever had someone get all the way to a discovery call only to hesitate because of the investment, uncertainty, or fear that coaching won't work for them, this episode is for you.

I'll also walk you through how to structure a coaching trial, how to transition into a natural next-steps conversation, and why the best sales conversations never feel like you're convincing someone to buy.
