Ben is an Australian photographer, educator and adventurer who has spent more than 10 years using photography to tell the stories of his own adventures and those of his clients.

With a passion for teaching, Ben runs a range of photography workshops and tours across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, as well as tours to Bermagui and Eden in New South Wales to photograph the annual Humpback Whale migration.

His personal photography is heavily influenced by a fascination with the things many people might miss. His subjects range from migrating whales breaching and tail slapping to lesser-known bird species, the Aurora Australis, bioluminescence, ghost fungi, the Galactic Core of the Milky Way, eclipses, meteor showers and dramatic storms.

His photographic style is a direct reflection of his personality: creative, curious, adventurous, passionate, enthusiastic and fun.

Ben shoots with Canon equipment and an assortment of lenses, while maintaining a strong working knowledge of most major camera systems. He also operates a Fine Art Print Studio, where he runs workshops exploring the art of editing and preparing photographs for print using his Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-2100 24-inch and PRO-4100 44-inch large-format printers.

Ben is a proud Australian ambassador for Samyang Optics Australia, Tenba Bags Australia, Benro Tripods Australia, Nanlite Australia and Athabasca Filters Australia.

When he isn’t behind the camera, Ben can usually be found pursuing another adventure. During summer, that might mean spending time with his family on the Murray River or sailing his International 420 dinghy on the Mornington Peninsula. In winter, he swaps the water for the trails, mountain biking around Arthurs Seat.

He’s also a keen cook and is particularly proud of his Lebanese meatballs — famous in his daughter’s eyes, at least.

Jonas is a German-born, Melbourne-raised photographer with a strong desire for exploration and travel. That sense of adventure first led him to pick up a camera around 10 years ago, documenting the places, experiences and outings he encountered along the way. Initially drawn to landscape photography, his work has gradually expanded into cityscapes, portraits and the small candid moments he finds interesting or beautiful.

His love for photography has always been focused on the process. Regardless of the subject, Jonas enjoys being able to capture and document the world as he sees it. Sharing his work through social media is a great bonus, but it has never been his main motivation.

Visiting new places, cities, countries and landmarks continues to be a major source of inspiration, and photographing his travels remains one of his greatest passions. Just as importantly, many of his favourite photographs have been taken closer to home, revisiting familiar parts of Melbourne and finding new ways to see them.

Photography has given Jonas a much deeper appreciation for how beautiful the world can be in so many different ways. Ultimately, that sense of beauty, curiosity and perspective is what he hopes to share through his work.

This week Justin has some huge news, let's see who can guess before he tells Greg live on the air.

Doug Porter is an Australian photographic artist whose creative journey spans more than six decades. After leaving Art College at 17, where he studied drawing, painting and printmaking, Doug began his career in a professional photographic laboratory in 1964. Over the following 51 years, he worked alongside and printed for some of Australia’s finest photographers, including Athol Shmith, Wolfgang Sievers, Robert Imhoff and Ian McKenzie, eventually spending 38 years as Commercial Production Manager at Bond Imaging.

The arrival of digital imaging transformed Doug’s creative world, sparking an enduring passion for Photoshop and the possibilities of digital post-production. After returning seriously to photography following a trip to Italy in 2006, he established Fresco Images – Doug Porter Imagery Australia.

Today, Doug is particularly drawn to creating narrative artworks from multiple photographs. He approaches each piece as a blank canvas, using only his own imagery and allowing the work to evolve organically without presets or AI-generated content. For Doug, the photograph is often simply the starting point—a sketch from which the final artwork emerges.

As he describes his process: “The computer is my easel, the folder of images my palette, and my tablet and pen my brushes.”

Doug’s work can be found in private homes and commercial spaces throughout Australia, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Cats or dogs. It's the oldest argument going, but tonight we're actually settling it as photographers.

Greg's a cat person. Justin's a dog person. And it turns out the two animals are completely different to shoot. Dogs give you everything, eye contact, expression, they'll hold a look and they actually want to please the camera. Cats give you nothing on purpose. You have to wait and steal the moment when it happens, a bit like street photography with claws.

So the real question underneath all the tribal stuff is this. Do you prefer a subject that performs for you, or one you have to catch? We go back and forth on it, drag in some real pet shoot footage, and let the live chat pick a side.
