  1. How To Heal Trauma And Transform Your Body In 4 Days | Dr Joe Dispenza

    Show notes

Your body may be reliving your worst trauma 50 to 100 times a day without you even noticing.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1540DM

Dr Joe Dispenza, an author and researcher on mind and body healing, told Lewis that trauma freezes an image in the brain and the feeling follows it into your body. Every replay keeps you in emergency mode, with no energy left for repair.

The way out is a new inner event, a moment of gratitude or freedom felt so strongly that you start paying attention to a picture of your future instead. Dr Joe says that emotion signals your genes differently, and he points to research where people reduced inflammation in four days.

Your genes are “just a library of potentials,” he says. The feeling you practice decides which ones get read.

Next time the old replay starts, try to catch it early and hold a different picture of where you are headed.

  2. How To Destroy Comparison And Finally Trust Your Own Timing | Lewis Howes

    Show notes

Comparison will convince you you're failing when you're right on time.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1998DM

Lewis Howes, host of The School of Greatness, goes solo in this episode to talk about watching friends get married and buy houses, or build businesses fast, while you feel stuck. He's blunt about it: you're putting their 10 or 15 years next to your first two, and that's an unfair fight.

Lewis remembers being broke in his mid-20s, sleeping on his sister's couch and working an unpaid internship in Columbus, Ohio. On one of their walks, a mentor told him, “Money comes to you when you're ready for it.”

About a year later the money started coming, and Lewis saw that he would have blown it if it had come any sooner.

So stop measuring yourself by someone else's timeline. Keep putting in the work, and let go of the expectations that have been hurting you.

  3. Turn Generosity Into Your Greatest Business Advantage | Chris Anderson

    Show notes

Generosity might be the smartest business strategy you are not using yet.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1584DM

Chris Anderson, the head of TED, told Lewis he doesn’t believe in some karmic deal where giving makes the universe send you money. What he does see is that generous people attract the best talent, because great minds want to work for a cause.

Tesla gave away its patents to recruit great engineers. Chris would go further and publish Coke’s secret recipe, then offer a $10 million prize for a version with less sugar and launch it as the People’s Coke.

His challenge for any company is a retreat with your most creative people and one question: what is the craziest thing we could give away?

Pick one thing you guard tightly and ask what it could do for you out in the open.

  4. How To Break The Limiting Beliefs Sabotaging Your Success | David Ghiyam

    Show notes

Your limiting beliefs might be the reason the same wall keeps showing up.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1692DM

David Ghiyam, a spiritual teacher who has coached people around the world, told Lewis about a founder whose compa nies all fell apart at $10 million in revenue. Lawsuits hit and employees quit, and David traced it to one hidden belief: he didn’t feel he deserved more.

Then there’s the competing kind. A business owner stuck at $5 million for years hated managing people, so part of her was hoping a million dollar client would say no.

As David put it, it’s like having the parking brake on with your foot on the gas, wondering why the car won’t move.

You’ll want to look at the place where you keep stalling and ask which part of you is pressing the brake.

  5. How To Unlock Self-Belief When The World Buried Your Greatness | Robin Sharma

    Show notes

Your self-belief got buried under someone else's story, and the gold underneath never went anywhere.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1997DM

Robin Sharma, author of The Everyday Hero Manifesto, told Lewis about a towering Golden Buddha in Thailand that monks covered in layer upon layer of soil to hide it from invaders.

Years later, a passerby saw a glimmer of gold shining through the mud and started digging. Robin says that is us: a kid left off a best friend's party list, or told “you sound terrible” in biology class, carries that wound for a lifetime.

As Robin puts it, “Your daily behavior is always matching your deepest beliefs.” If you don't think you can find love, you will never ask the person out.

So pick the old story you are still rehearsing, and scrape off the first layer.

  6. How To Eliminate Stress With Family Meals 3 Times a Week | Shawn Stevenson

    Show notes

Three shared meals a week can protect your kids’ health more than any diet plan you could buy.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1484DM

Shawn Stevenson, who has spent over 20 years in the health field, told Lewis that family meals work like a shield. In the research he shares, kids who ate with a parent just three times a week had lower rates of obesity and eating disorders.

Shawn grew up in Ferguson, Missouri, without ever seeing what health looked like. He spent years trying to change the wider culture before he found that change works best when it starts at his own table.

He also points to IBM workers whose stress climbed once their jobs started eating into dinner at home.

You will want to open your calendar tonight and block off three meals with the people you love.

  7. Turn Rejection Into Feedback And Make Every Yes Count | Katt Williams

    Show notes

What if every rejection was just someone telling you exactly what to fix?

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1996DM

Comedian Katt Williams, who once sold door to door, told Lewis that sales taught him to collect nos on purpose. Knock on 900 doors, he figured, and 90 yeses will come.

The shift came when Katt decided a no only meant he hadn’t done a good enough job. Maybe it was how he stood, or the look on his face when the door opened.

He carries that into comedy. “The audience is never wrong,” he says, so he rehearses a joke 35 times in the mirror and tests it in 100 cities before it ever reaches a special.

The next time you hear no, ask what it says about how you showed up. Then go knock again.

  8. 5 Longevity Foods You Need To Eat Every Day To Live Longer | Dr. Michael Greger

    Show notes

The best longevity foods might be the ones you keep walking past at the grocery store.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1583DM

Dr. Michael Greger, a physician who tracks the research on diet and life expectancy, told Lewis that beans and lentils are tied to the biggest lifespan gains in the Global Burden of Disease Study. His reason is your gut: the good bacteria live on fiber, and most of us are starving them.

Ounce for ounce, walnuts pull ahead of every other nut. Michael says a palmful, about 10 halves a day, is enough, because the benefit levels off after that.

He calls refined grains terrible for us, and he wants you adding real food until it crowds out the junk, which makes up over half of American calories.

Grab a can of lentils for tonight and keep a handful of walnuts on the counter for tomorrow.

  9. How A Sociopath Builds A Moral Code Without Guilt | Dr. Patric Gagne

    Show notes

What if guilt was never the thing keeping you good?

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1995DM

Dr. Patric Gagne, a diagnosed sociopath, told Lewis she lives without shame or guilt. What keeps her in line is an internal code built on logic, and the amount of harm she chooses to do is zero.

She once stole from a cruel woman and handed the item to a stranger on the street. It felt so good that she saw the slippery slope right away.

Patric traces that urge to a deep sense of unfairness, one that started in kindergarten when she learned Santa was a lie. She argues that if guilt is the only thing stopping you, you have no real control.

You will start asking why you actually do the right thing, and whether your reasons would still hold if the guilt went quiet.

  10. How To Train Your Brain and Learn Faster Starting Today | Jim Kwik

    Show notes

The story that you are a slow learner might be the only thing holding your brain back.

Check out the full episode: https://lewishowes.com/podcast/jim-kwik/

Jim Kwik, who has spent two decades teaching people how to learn and remember, told Lewis about the head injury that left him feeling broken as a kid. It took him two extra years to learn to read, and by college he was ready to quit.

Then he pushed so hard he passed out in the library and woke up in the hospital two days later, down to 117 pounds.

A nurse handed him tea in an Einstein mug: the same level of thinking that created the problem won’t solve the problem. Jim stopped asking why he was slow and started asking how to learn faster. Within 60 days, it felt like a light switch went on.

  11. If Fear Keeps You Safe But Stuck, Open Your Sail | Scott Barry Kaufman

    Show notes

You don't have to wait until your fear is gone to start moving toward the life you want.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1116DM

Scott Barry Kaufman, the psychologist behind the sailboat model of human needs, told Lewis that Maslow never drew a pyramid at all. Scott sees your needs as one vessel: the boat keeps you afloat, and the sail is what moves you.

When you're short on safety, you start screaming for it, and that gap quickly drains your connection and self-esteem too. Scott calls it the insecurity cycle.

Patching the holes only gets you from negative 50 to zero. Growth starts when you open the sail, even nervous, the way Scott was driving six miles in a suit for the first time in a year.

  12. Turn Your Anxiety Into a Signal That Finally Sets You Free | Dr. John Delony

    Show notes

Your anxiety might be the one part of you that is working perfectly.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1994DM

Dr. John Delony, a mental health expert, told Lewis that anxiety is a smoke alarm in your house. It can't tell you which room is burning. It just knows there is smoke.

If you carry six figures in student loans and a mortgage, your body would be failing you if it let you sleep all night. Waking at 2:30 in the morning means it is doing its job.

Numbing it with another drink or another Netflix night is, in John's words, duct-taping a pillow over the alarm. Sometimes the real fix is sitting down with your spouse and saying, “We have to rebuild this thing or it's over.”

The next time the alarm wakes you, put down the fight and ask what in your life feels unsafe.

  13. How To Destroy Scarcity With Gratitude in 10 Minutes a Day | Tony Robbins

    Show notes

The richest person you know might have almost nothing, as long as they wake up full of gratitude for it.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1218DM

Tony Robbins, the life and business strategist, told Lewis that billionaire investor Sir John Templeton once gave him the secret to wealth in one word: gratitude. A billion dollars lived pissed off and frustrated is still a pissed off, frustrated life.

Tony was broke and working 18 hour days when he pulled over on a California freeway near midnight. He wrote in his journal, “the secret to living is giving.” Then he cried.

He saw he had only been asking what he wasn't getting. Scarcity left him that night, and the boy whose family had no Thanksgiving meal has since fed 42 million people.

Try his morning habit tomorrow: three and a half minutes naming what you are grateful for, starting with something as small as the wind on your face.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1993DM

Shi Heng Yi, a Shaolin master, told Lewis that it can go very wrong to spend your lifetime building a vision that came from someone else.

He named the worst case plainly: you follow it, you achieve it, and then you realize it doesn't give you what you were looking for. What he offers instead is gentle. Learn how to deal with failure, and learn to accept the way you are instead of trying to stay beautiful.

He isn't judging anyone's goals. He asks you to check whose idea you are actually living.

  15. How To Stop Blocking Money And Unlock Abundance With Play | Rhonda Byrne

    Show notes

The money you want might be waiting behind a belief about deserving it that you never chose.

Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1526DM

Rhonda Byrne, creator of The Secret, told Lewis she once opened bills with her stomach dropping to her knees. She had mortgaged her own home to make the film, and the debt was piling up everywhere else too.

So she started to play. Rhonda pretended each bill was a check, then added zeros until $1,200 became $150,000. When she paid, she pictured the money as a donation that fed the families of the company’s employees.

Every item on her desires list showed up, down to the house overlooking the ocean. Her point is that we are unlimited, and we shrink ourselves to fit what we think we deserve.

Dr. Tara Narula, a cardiologist, told Lewis that stress may be the biggest health threat we face, even on its own.

Tara pictures people walking around with the dial stuck at 10 over a bad phone call or a fight with a coworker. That system was made for escaping a predator, so the body keeps pushing back until it simply burns out.

Her medical training gave her zero lessons on emotions. She wants every diagnosis handed out with a prescription for how to walk through it.

Alex Honnold recounts that though he has witnessed tragic climbing accidents and the sobering fragility of life while pushing extremes, staying open to loss and grief is essential, as going numb leads people to underestimate risks and make poor choices. He notes while the emotional stakes differ, the fear of failure in competitive arenas can subjectively feel as intense as mortal danger depending on one's psyche and neuroses. Honnold believes managing fear and persevering through discomfort are skills climbing specifically hones, yielding some of life's most potent lessons in overcoming self-doubt and developing courage. Though he recognizes the gravity involved in his sport, Honnold feels embracing fear, responsibility and vulnerability allows him to mine the thrill and beauty without losing his humanity.

James Sexton, a divorce lawyer, told Lewis that everyone should spend an hour with someone like him before the wedding. As he puts it, in marriage, there's no way to know if you're doing well at it.

Is a fight every week a lot? Nobody can say, because we post the best vacation photos and keep our real daily lives to ourselves.

James borrows a line from his sister, a dentist: by the time your tooth hurts, it's too late. So talk candidly with couples who would still pick each other, and with people whose marriage broke down.
