Are you planning to enjoy Disney World, or are you just hoping to survive it?

I recently talked to a mom who was heading to Disney World in less than a week. She'd missed her Lightning Lane booking window, hadn't arranged airport transportation, and her plan was to just “white-knuckle it.”

And I couldn't stop thinking about that phrase.

Because your Disney World Trip shouldn't feel like gripping the steering wheel through a snowstorm.

In this episode, I'm sharing five ways families accidentally make their vacations harder than they need to be, and what the laid-back alternative looks like. From Disney World Lightning Lane reservations to avoiding decision fatigue, these are the little changes that can make Disney World planning feel a whole lot easier.

Especially when you're doing Disney World with kids.

    Here's what we'll cover:

    • Why missing your Disney World Lightning Lane booking window can mean spending a lot more time waiting in line, and the simple calendar reminder that helps prevent it
    • My 3-2-1 method for choosing your park-day priorities without scheduling every minute
    • Why I avoid three early mornings in a row when visiting Disney World with kids
    • How front-loading your Disney World planning can make the week before your vacation something you actually enjoy

The goal isn't to control every second of your Disney World Trip. It's to make the important decisions ahead of time so you can relax, be spontaneous, and enjoy the moments you came for.

If you're planning a Disney World Trip in 2027, come join me inside Laid Back Magic! You'll get help with Disney World planning, monthly planning calls, and a place to ask questions before those little details turn into last-minute stress.

Because Disney World with kids is so much better when you're not spending the whole vacation white-knuckling it.

And if Disney World Lightning Lane still feels confusing, we'll work through those booking decisions together inside the membership.

What does success look like on your next Disney trip? Let me know your thoughts over on IG: @somewhereworthwhile.

Would you buy Disney Vacation Club points before ever setting foot in Disney World? My guest Marcus did, and he has quite the story to tell.

In this episode, I'm chatting with Marcus from Dis Dad Dude, my very first dad guest on the podcast! We talk about how one budget-friendly Disneyland trip turned him into a Disney-loving dad with 420 DVC points across three contracts.

If you've ever wondered whether Disney Vacation Club membership is worth it, Marcus shares how he made the leap from booking a deluxe resort to buying points through resale, and eventually purchasing direct through Disney.

We also get into what it's like doing Disney World with kids, his favorite deluxe resorts, and why this Disney World Dad has made the Disney World Halloween party an annual family tradition.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • Why Marcus bought DVC before his first Disney World visit and what to consider before committing to Disney Vacation Club membership
    • The differences between buying DVC points direct versus resale
    • Our honest comparisons of Grand Floridian, Riviera, BoardWalk, and Bay Lake Tower
    • How resort location and room layouts can make Disney World with kids easier
    • Why this Disney World Dad loves returning for the Disney World Halloween party every October

Whether you're researching Disney Vacation Club membership, planning Disney World with kids, or curious about how another Disney World Dad approaches family vacations, you'll love hearing Marcus's perspective.

And if the Disney World Halloween party is on your family's wish list, you'll hear why it's become one of his favorite Disney traditions.

Ever wonder what Disney World would feel like without the kids? No stroller, no nap schedules, no one asking for a snack five minutes after you just bought one?

My friend Christina is back from a four-day girls’ trip to Disney World, and I needed to hear everything.

If you've been dreaming about a Disney trip for adults, this episode is your permission slip to plan one around what you actually want to do. For Christina and her friend, that meant sleeping in, prioritizing good food and the , skipping character meet-and-greets, and spending an entire day eating their way around EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.

We talk about how Christina used my trip-sketching method to plan her days without overplanning them, why she chose Port Orleans Riverside instead of a deluxe resort, and how she approached Disney World Lightning Lane reservations when she didn't have to work around her kids' schedules.

We also get into Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, where Christina and her friend stayed out late, prioritized cheeseburger spring rolls, watched the second parade, and discovered the benefits of experiencing a Disney party without worrying about toddler bedtimes.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • What makes a Disney trip for adults so different from a family vacation, including the freedom to sleep in and change plans
    • Christina's favorite EPCOT Food and Wine Festival dishes, including the smoked chocolate bread pudding, corned beef, and a surprisingly delicious seafood roll
    • How she used Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass to fit rides around her food priorities, even when Guardians of the Galaxy broke down
    • Her strategy for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, from when she arrived to where she watched the parade and how she avoided the exit crowds

One thing I loved about Christina's approach to a Disney trip for adults was that she still planned her trip. She just planned it differently.

Whether you're considering your first girls’ trip or just wondering what Disney World would look like when you're not responsible for everyone else's fun, I think you'll love this conversation.

Have you ever taken a Disney trip without your kids, or is a girls’ trip still on your wish list? Come tell me on Instagram, @SomewhereWorthWhile. I want to know what you'd do first if you had a whole Disney day to yourself!

If you would happily stay home, put on some background music, make a cup of tea, and not leave the house all day, does it make any sense that you’d also love Disney World?

    Apparently, yes.

My friend Summer is back on the podcast, and we’re talking about the funny contradiction of being total homebodies who also love traveling to one of the most stimulating places on earth.

Because when you really think about it, Disney gives us a lot of the things we love about home: familiarity, routines, comfort, nostalgia, and that feeling that we know where everything is.

So if you’re planning a Disney trip and wondering how to make it feel less overwhelming, this episode is for you. Especially if you’ve ever searched for a vacation for introverts and thought, “Well...Disney World probably isn’t it.”

    We might change your mind.

In this episode, Summer and I talk about:

    • Why Disney World can actually feel comforting and familiar to a homebody
    • The “Disney bubble” and why staying on property can make a trip feel easier
    • How afternoon breaks, naps, pool time, and familiar bedtime routines can make Disney World with kids feel much more manageable
    • Simple Disney World tips like bringing familiar clothes, ordering your normal snacks, studying park maps, and packing favorite toys or stuffed animals

One of my favorite things Summer said is that there’s a difference between a schedule and a routine.

A schedule requires you to stay on track. A routine helps you find a comfortable rhythm.

That distinction can change the way you think about planning a Disney trip.

Some of my favorite Disney World tips have less to do with rides and reservations and more to do with making your family comfortable. The little things can make a huge difference when you’re doing Disney World with kids, especially when everyone is already taking in so much new stimulation.

Maybe Disney World really can be a vacation for introverts, homebodies, and people who just really, really like knowing where the bathroom is.

The goal isn’t to turn yourself into a different person because you’re on vacation. When you’re planning a Disney trip, think about what makes your family comfortable at home and how you can bring pieces of that rhythm with you. That’s especially true for Disney World with kids.

If you’ve been searching for a vacation for introverts, maybe the answer isn’t finding the quietest possible destination. Maybe it’s finding a place where you can create enough familiarity to actually relax.

Are you a fellow Disney-loving homebody? Join me over on Instagram: @SomewhereWorthWhileand tell me the one thing you do at Disney World that makes it feel a little more like home.

  5. 87: My Honest Review of Beak & Barrel AND Garden View Lounge

Two of the Disney World experiences I get asked about the most right now are Beak and Barrel in Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian afternoon tea at Garden View Lounge.

And most of the questions come down to the same thing: are they actually good for kids?

Both experiences require reservations, both feel a little more grown-up, and both come with that moment during your Disney World dining planning when you wonder, “Am I really going to spend money on this with my kids?”

So after trying both, I’m giving you my honest review.

I visited Beak and Barrel with our whole family of five, including my three kids, and did the Grand Floridian afternoon tea one-on-one with my almost-six-year-old daughter. Two very different experiences, two very different setups, and two very different answers when it comes to Disney World with kids.

    In this episode, I’m sharing:

    • What you should know before making a reservation at Beak and Barrel, including the 45-minute time limit, seating situation, and why I’d avoid a standing table with kids
    • Why I’d choose Beak and Barrel over Oga’s Cantina for my family right now
    • What the Grand Floridian afternoon tea experience actually looks like, from choosing your tea to the scones, savory bites, desserts, and Alice in Wonderland details
    • How I’d fit both experiences into your overall Disney World dining plans without expecting either one to replace a normal meal

The biggest takeaway is that neither experience gets an automatic yes or no just because you’re doing Disney World with kids.

For our family, Beak and Barrel worked because it was short, entertaining, and easy to pair with the rest of our Magic Kingdom day. We treated it like a 45-minute pirate-themed snack break where the adults could have a cocktail, not like a full Disney World dining experience.

The tea was completely different. It was slower, more expensive, and felt much more like a special occasion. My daughter loved getting her own teapot, choosing her tea, adding sugar cubes, and having that one-on-one time together. But I’d think carefully about your child’s age and personality before booking it.

That’s the thing about Disney World with kids. Just because an experience exists doesn’t mean your family has to do it.

Before I book something, I like to think about how I want the trip to feel and what I actually want each person in my family to get out of it. That makes it so much easier to look at an experience and decide whether it fits, instead of booking it just because everyone else seems to be talking about it.

If you want some help figuring that out, grab my free Laid Back Journal linked in the show notes. It walks you through the questions I ask myself before planning a trip, plus there’s a section for your kids to fill out too.

Have you tried either of these experiences? I want to know what you thought, especially if you brought your kids! Send me a DM on Instagram @SomewhereWithWhile and tell me whether either one was worth it for your family.

  6. 86: Listener Q&A: Disney World Lightning Lanes, Crowd Calendars & Fantasmic Dining

    Episode 86

    Show notes

Read the full show notes for this episode HERE!

Sometimes the best Disney World questions are the ones that don’t fit neatly into one category. So for this episode, I opened up an Instagram question box and let you ask me anything.

We’re covering everything from January weather and New Year’s Eve crowds to choosing park days, park hopping, Lightning Lanes, holiday parties, dining reservations, and whether the Fantasmic dining package is actually worth it.

Basically, it’s a little bit of everything you might be thinking about during Walt Disney World planning.

And even though these questions are all different, there’s one thing that connects them: figuring out what is actually worth your family’s time and money.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why I absolutely use a Disney World crowd calendar when deciding which park to visit each day
    • How your Disney World Lightning Lane strategy can change when you’re park hopping, and why you don’t necessarily need to book your first Lightning Lanes at your first park
    • What I’d eat before a Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert party
    • When I think the Disney Fantasmic dining package is worth booking, and when you can probably skip it

One of the biggest things I’ve learned through years of Walt Disney World planning is that there isn’t one perfect itinerary for every family.

A Disney World crowd calendar can give you incredibly helpful information, but I still want to layer your family’s priorities on top of that data. The same goes for your Disney World Lightning Lane strategy. If meeting Woody is more important to your child than riding a specific attraction, that changes how I’d plan your morning.

And sometimes spending a little more can make the day feel a lot easier. The Disney Fantasmic dining package is a good example. If you’re already planning to eat at one of the participating restaurants and want to see Fantasmic, having reserved seating can take some pressure off your night. But if those things aren’t priorities, you don’t need to add it just because someone else says it’s a must-do.

That’s really the goal of Walt Disney World planning: knowing enough about your options that you can decide what makes sense for your family.

Use a Disney World crowd calendar as a tool, build a Disney World Lightning Lane plan around your actual priorities, and book something like the Disney Fantasmic dining package when it genuinely makes your trip easier, not because you feel like you’re supposed to do everything.

What’s the Disney World planning question you wish someone would just give you a straight answer to? DM me on Instagram @summerworthwhile, and it might make it into the next Q&A.

Choosing where to stay can have a bigger impact on your Disney trip than you might think. It changes your mornings, how easy it is to take a break, and what getting three tired kids back to bed looks like at the end of the night.

After years of visiting the resort but never actually staying there, I finally stayed at the Disney Grand Floridian with my family of five. And because we were renting DVC points, we stayed in the exact deluxe studio I wanted for $378 a night instead of Disney’s $844 cash rate.

That price difference definitely affected my review.

In this episode, I’m sharing my honest take on the Grand Floridian Villas as a mom of three, including what worked really well, what surprised me, what I didn’t love, and whether I’d stay there again. We’re also getting into how renting DVC points can completely change your Disney World budget, especially if deluxe resorts are part of your Disney World planning.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • The biggest advantage of staying at the Disney Grand Floridian if Magic Kingdom is a priority for your family
    • How renting DVC points changed the way I felt about some of the resort’s downsides
    • Why comparing the cash price with a DVC rental can be an important part of your Disney World planning
    • Who I think the Grand Floridian Villas are actually worth it for

For me, the biggest question isn’t simply whether the Disney Grand Floridian is a beautiful deluxe resort. It’s whether the convenience, room setup, transportation, and amenities are worth what you’re paying for them.

At $844 a night, I’d have a hard time confidently saying yes. At $378 a night through a confirmed DVC reservation, the math felt very different.

That’s why renting DVC points is something I think is worth considering before deciding a deluxe resort is automatically outside your Disney World budget. It can open up options you may have already crossed off during your Disney World planning, without requiring you to actually become a Disney Vacation Club member.

For our family, the room layout and easy access to Magic Kingdom were huge wins. The coffee situation, pool, and EPCOT transportation weren’t my favorites, but at the price we paid, none of them were deal breakers.

Would staying at the Disney Grand Floridian make sense for your family, or would you rather put that money toward something else in your Disney World budget? Send me a DM on Instagram and tell me where you’d splurge or save!

The Magic Kingdom dessert party is one of those Disney extras that, on paper, I probably shouldn’t think is worth it. And yet, year after year, I keep booking it.

But since I last talked about the dessert party, things have changed. There are new themed desserts, some little upgrades that make the experience feel more Disney, and now the Disney Starlight Parade adds a whole new layer to planning your Magic Kingdom night.

So, is the Happily Ever After dessert party still worth the splurge? Especially if you’re doing Disney World with kids?

In this episode, I’m sharing my updated take after our most recent trip, including what’s changed, what hasn’t, which of the three party options might work best for your family, and what I’d do if you want to see both Happily Ever After and the Disney Starlight Parade in the same night.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why I continue booking the Magic Kingdom dessert party, even though I don’t think the desserts alone are worth the $100+ price tag
    • Why the reserved viewing area can be such a big perk when doing Disney World with kids
    • How the Happily Ever After dessert party gives you more flexibility with little kids, strollers, bathroom breaks, and simply having room to move
    • How to plan around the Disney Starlight Parade if you also want to see Happily Ever After
    • Why I still prefer the pre-party for Disney World with kids, especially when we want to get back to the resort sooner after the fireworks
    • Who I think should skip the Magic Kingdom dessert party entirely

For me, the value of the Happily Ever After dessert party isn’t really about how many cupcakes or glasses of wine I can have. I’m paying for the reserved viewing area and the ability to watch the castle projections, music, and fireworks without staking out a spot on Main Street with three kids.

And with the Disney Starlight Parade now part of the nighttime equation, choosing the right party matters even more.

If you’re planning Disney World with kids, have never seen Happily Ever After, or know that the fireworks are a big priority for your family, I still think the Happily Ever After dessert party can absolutely be worth the splurge. It’s expensive, but for our family, some of our favorite Disney memories have happened while waiting for those fireworks to begin.

Would you spend $100+ per person on the Magic Kingdom dessert party for the reserved fireworks viewing, or would you rather save that money for something else on your Disney trip? Let me know over on Instagram!

Planning a Disney trip should be exciting, right? But somehow, 22% of guests leave Disney World feeling disappointed. So, what went wrong?

In this episode, I share exactly why some trips fall flat and how to plan a trip to Disney that actually feels magical for your family.

We’re diving into the five steps I use to create a Disney trip that’s manageable, memorable, and (dare I say) even fun to plan. Forget the stressful, go-go-go vacation. This episode is all about slowing down, setting intentions, and learning how to plan a trip to Disney that feels just as good in real life as it looks on Instagram.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Why some Disney trips flop, and how to plan a trip to Disney that keeps you out of that 22% who leave feeling “meh.”
    • How to set intentions for your 2025 Disney trip: This mindset shift will change how you approach every aspect of planning—from resorts to dining to attractions.
    • Why forcing Disney’s schedule on your family can backfire—and what to do instead.
    • How saying no to viral “must-dos” can actually save your sanity (and make your 2025 Disney trip even better).

Part 3 of my Disney trip report is here, and we're wrapping up six days at Disney World with a full EPCOT day, a rainy departure day in Magic Kingdom, and plenty of moments where our carefully made plans had to change.

Our EPCOT day was a perfect example of what Disney World with kids can actually look like. We were juggling different ages, Rider Switch, ride closures, a stroller nap, changing dining plans, and an Epcot lightning lane strategy that helped us fit in Soarin', Living with the Land, Test Track, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure without feeling like we were rushing from ride to ride.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • How we approached our Epcot lightning lane strategy and used Standby Skipper to grab Remy's for later in the day
    • Why planning indoor breaks, playgrounds, and downtime matters when doing Disney world with kids
    • What to expect from Disney World when it rains, including the mistake I made when packing our rain gear
    • Why flexibility ended up being one of the biggest lessons from this entire Disney trip report

Our departure day was also a reminder that Disney World when it rains doesn't have to ruin your plans. We kept things simple with low-wait attractions like It's a Small World, Mickey's Magic, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, and Country Bear Musical Jamboree while waiting out the rain. I just wish I had remembered the waterproof sandals I always tell everyone else to pack!

This final Disney trip report really sums up the reality of Disney world with kids. You can plan ahead, study your Epcot lightning lane options, make dining reservations, and think through every detail, but rides can still go down, kids can get tired, and the weather can change everything. Knowing when to cancel, pivot, or simply slow down can make all the difference.

If you're preparing for Disney World when it rains or wondering how much flexibility you'll need when doing Disney world with kids, I hope this recap gives you permission to make the plan and then change it when your family needs something different.

Come hang out with us on Instagramand tell me: What's one Disney World plan you've had to completely change once you were actually in the parks, and did it end up working out for the better?

Heading to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party this year? Melissa is back on the podcast fresh from the 2026 party, and we're breaking down what you actually need to know before your night at Magic Kingdom, including what's new, what felt different, and what she would do differently next time.

If you're heading to the Disney Halloween party 2026, having a plan matters, but so does knowing what you're willing to skip. We're talking through the Magic Kingdom tips that can help you prioritize your night without trying to cram in every character, treat trail, ride, snack, and show. Whether you're ready to plan your Disney trip or already have your party tickets, this episode will help you decide what deserves a spot at the top of your list.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • What's new at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party for 2026
    • Magic Kingdom tips for fitting rides into your party without missing your biggest priorities
    • What Melissa noticed about crowds at the Disney Halloween party 2026
    • How to plan your Disney trip around the experiences your family really doesn't want to miss

One of Melissa's biggest takeaways from Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party was just how quickly the night went. Even as someone who has attended multiple times, she had to make choices on the fly about what mattered most. That's why some of the best Magic Kingdom tips aren't about doing more. They're about deciding ahead of time what you're completely okay skipping.

If you're attending the Disney Halloween party 2026, use Melissa's experience to plan your Disney trip around your own priorities instead of trying to do everything in one night. A little intentional planning can leave more room to enjoy the spooky entertainment, low ride waits, treats, and experiences your family is most excited about.

Come hang out with us on Instagram and tell me: What's your number one must-do at Mickey's not so scary Halloween party: the parade, rides, characters, trick-or-treating, or something else?

Part 2 of my Disney trip reports is here, and this one takes us from a late night at Magic Kingdom to a hot day exploring Animal Kingdom with three kids. We're talking fireworks, the starlight parade, Bluey's Wild World, Lightning Lane strategy, park hopping, and plenty of moments where our original plans had to change.

We planned our entire Magic Kingdom evening around Happily Ever After and the starlight parade, including a pre-fireworks dessert party. I'm sharing what worked, what felt way more chaotic than expected, and exactly what I would do differently next time. If you're doing Disney World with kids , especially little ones who aren't used to late nights, there are definitely a few things you'll want to consider before trying to fit both the parade and fireworks into one evening.

Then we're heading to Animal Kingdom for one of the experiences my kids were most excited about: Bluey's Wild World. If you're searching for Bluey at Disney World 2026, I'm breaking down what the experience is actually like, how long you should plan for it, and whether I think it's worth adding to your day.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • How we planned our Magic Kingdom evening around the starlight parade and Happily Ever After
    • What Bluey's Wild World is actually like for families searching for Bluey at Disney World 2026
    • How much time I'd allow for the Bluey experience at Animal Kingdom
    • What worked and what didn't while doing Disney World with kids of three very different ages

One of the reasons I love sharing these Disney trip reports is that they're not perfect itineraries for you to copy. They're a look at what actually happens when a carefully planned Disney vacation meets weather, ride closures, tired kids, unexpected timing, and a little Disney magic.

Whether you're researching Bluey at Disney World 2026, trying to figure out the best way to see the starlight parade, or planning Disney World with kids , I hope these real-life details help you make better decisions for your own family. That's the goal of these Disney trip reports: take what works for you, leave what doesn't, and build a trip around your family's priorities.

Come hang out with us onInstagram and tell me: If you're planning Disney World with kids, which would your family be more excited about – the starlight parade or Bluey's Wild World?

After months of planning, we're finally kicking off our summer Disney trip reports! In Part 1, I'm taking you behind the scenes of our arrival day and our first full park day at Hollywood Studios, sharing what went exactly as planned, what completely changed, and what I'd do differently next time.

From travel to Disney and checking into the Grand Floridian Villas to testing our Disney World lightning lane strategy in real time, this episode is packed with the little details that don't always make it into a typical trip recap. If you're building your own Hollywood Studios itinerary, I hope our experience helps you create a plan that's flexible enough to handle the unexpected.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • What our travel to Disney day looked like from takeoff to checking into the Grand Floridian
    • Why we rented a stroller instead of bringing our own and how our arrival day unfolded
    • Our complete Hollywood Studios itinerary, including what we prioritized, what we skipped, and why
    • How Standby Skipper helped improve our Disney World lightning lane strategy throughout the day
    • What happened when multiple attractions experienced unexpected downtime
    • The reality of navigating Hollywood Studios with three kids in the summer heat
    • Why we canceled one of our most anticipated dining reservations
    • The small planning decisions that ended up making the biggest difference
    • The lessons we'll carry into the rest of our vacation

These Disney trip reports aren't meant to be a blueprint for your own vacation. Every family travels differently, and every trip has surprises. My hope is that whether you're starting to travel to Disney, building your own Hollywood Studios itinerary, or fine-tuning your Disney World lightning lane strategy, you'll pick up ideas that help your trip feel a little less stressful and a lot more enjoyable.

Have you ever wondered if a Disney split stay is actually worth the extra packing and planning?

In this episode, I'm chatting with Katie about her family's unique Disney vacation, where they stayed at three different resorts in one trip. We talk about everything from Disney World resort hopping and strategic packing to comparing the different resort experiences and why they've stopped feeling pressured to do everything on every vacation.

If you've ever debated staying at more than one resort, or you're trying to figure out Disney World what to pack for a multi-resort trip, this conversation is full of practical tips and honest reflections.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • Why Katie loves planning a Disney split stay for her family
    • Her experience with Disney World resort hopping between Wilderness Lodge, Riviera, and Polynesian
    • A Disney World resort comparison of what stood out at each resort
    • Smart strategies for Disney World what to pack when you're moving between resorts
    • How laundry, packing cubes, and simple organization made multiple resort transfers easier
    • Why repeat trips look different when you stop chasing every ride

Whether you're considering a Disney split stay, curious about Disney World resort hopping, or looking for a real-life Disney World resort comparison, Katie shares what worked, what surprised her, and what she'd absolutely do again. We also dive into Disney World what to pack, including the packing strategies that made changing resorts feel much less overwhelming.

One of my favorite takeaways from this conversation is that there's no single "right" way to do Disney. A thoughtful Disney split stay, intentional Disney World resort hopping, and knowing Disney World what to pack can help create a vacation that feels more relaxed, more personalized, and a lot more enjoyable. And if you've ever found yourself comparing resorts, Katie's honest Disney World resort comparison may help you decide what works best for your family.

Come hang out with us over on Instagramand tell me: Would you ever try a Disney split stay, or do you prefer staying at one resort for your entire vacation?

This is Part 2 of my complete pre-trip report, where I'm walking you through the second half of our Disney World itinerary before we leave for our Disney World summer vacation.

If you listened to Part 1, you already know the parks, priorities, and planning philosophy behind this trip. In this episode, we're diving into the rest of our Disney World itinerary, including our Animal Kingdom and Epcot plans, how I'm using our Disney World park hopper, and why Disney World transportation can make or break a laid-back vacation.

The goal isn't to squeeze every attraction into one trip. It's to create a flexible plan that gives us room to adjust while still making the most of our time together.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • The second half of our Disney World itinerary, including Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and departure day
    • Why a Disney World park hopper gives our family more flexibility without adding stress
    • My approach to Disney World transportation, including boats, buses, monorails, and MinnieVans
    • Why transportation planning is just as important as ride planning during a Disney World summer vacation
    • Our strategy for fireworks, resort breaks, and keeping afternoons flexible

Whether you're building your own Disney World itinerary, deciding if a Disney World park hopper is worth it, or trying to simplify Disney World transportation, this episode is full of the behind-the-scenes decisions that help our trips feel calm instead of rushed.

My hope is that this episode helps you create a Disney World summer vacation that's built around your family's priorities, not someone else's checklist. Thoughtful Disney World itinerary planning, smart Disney World transportation choices, and using a Disney World park hopper intentionally can make all the difference when you're traveling during a busy Disney World summer vacation.

Next week, I'll be back with the real trip report to share what actually happened, what went according to plan, and what I'd change after putting this entire Disney World itinerary to the test.

  19. 73: 10 Questions for a 10-Year-Old Disney World Expert

    Episode 73

    Show notes

Read the full show notes for this episode HERE!

What happens when you hand the microphone to a 10-year-old who has been visiting Disney World for most of her life?

In this special episode, my daughter Story joins me to answer your Disney questions completely unfiltered. From favorite rides and resorts to Disney character meet-and-greets, Disney souvenirs, and the things she thinks parents get wrong, you're getting Disney advice straight from a kid's perspective.

And as it turns out, a 10-year-old Disney World Expert has some pretty strong opinions.

    In this episode, Story shares:

    • Her favorite Disney character meet-and-greets, and why she prefers the "fuzzy" characters
    • The ride she used to be scared of, but now rides over and over again
    • Her favorite resort and why she loves Beach Club and BoardWalk
    • What a perfect Disney day looks like
    • The one thing she thinks parents get wrong at Disney World
    • Her favorite Disney souvenirs and what she'd buy with unlimited Disney money
    • Why Disney character meet-and-greets have become more fun as she's gotten older
    • The Disney memories she hopes she never forgets
    • What she's most excited about on future trips

If you're planning Disney World with kids, this episode offers a fun reminder that Disney vacations look very different through a child's eyes. Sometimes the best advice for Disney World with kids comes from the kids themselves.

Story's answers about rides, resorts, Disney character meet-and-greets, and Disney souvenirs give a refreshing look at what actually stands out to a child after years of Disney vacations. And while she may be a self-proclaimed Disney World Expert, some of her answers might surprise you.

If you're headed to Disney World in July, this episode is basically a peek inside my suitcase.

I'm sharing exactly what I'm packing for our upcoming Disney trip, from the obvious essentials to the random little things I've learned the hard way after years of traveling to Disney with kids. Some of these are tried-and-true favorites, some are upgrades I'm testing for the first time, and a few are things I never want to forget again.

This is not a list of 50 things you need to buy before your trip. It's a realistic Disney packing checklist filled with the items that actually make our vacations more comfortable, less stressful, and a little more enjoyable in the Florida heat.

✨ In this episode, we cover:

    • My updated Disney packing checklist for a summer trip
    • The new stroller fans I'm testing for Disney World in July
    • Why I'm bringing a device that literally locks me out of social media
    • The lightweight clothing fabrics I swear by in the Florida heat
    • My favorite electrolyte powder for staying hydrated in the parks
    • The waterproof sandals I never travel without
    • Rain gear that actually works during afternoon Disney downpours
    • The kid items I learned never to forget again
    • Small travel essentials that make a surprisingly big difference

Whether you're planning a Disney trip with toddlers, big kids, or just trying to survive the summer heat yourself, these are the things to pack for Disney World that have earned a permanent spot in my bag.

And if you're anything like me, sometimes hearing what someone else is actually packing is way more helpful than another generic packing list.

I'll report back after the trip and let you know which new items were worth bringing and which ones didn't make the cut for next time.
