Tox N Talk

Arts, Business, Entrepreneurship, Fashion & Beauty

Tox “N” Talk We’re Trish and Tami, two Family Nurse Practitioners, two MedSpa owners, two very different roads into aesthetics, and absolutely no interest in sugarcoating what happens in this industry. Trish came into aesthetics with a background that already blended beauty and medicine. Before becoming a nurse, she spent more than 15 years as a professional makeup artist, then went on to build a career in Emergency Medicine and flight nursing before becoming a Nurse Practitioner and opening Tranquility Aesthetics & Wellness in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Her approach combines artistry, clinical experience, and a love for helping patients look like themselves, just refreshed. Tami brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience, with a background in cardiology, interventional radiology, and clinical management across neuro, orthopedic, trauma, and step-down care. After transitioning into aesthetics nearly a decade ago, she built her own MedSpa and developed a passion for injectables, lasers, hormones, wellness, and aging well. She is all about science, natural results, and helping people look better without looking “done.” Together, we created Tox “N” Talk — your weekly dose of unfiltered conversation about aesthetics, wellness, injectables, skincare, hormones, lasers, trends, treatments, and everything people are talking about behind the treatment-room door. We’re breaking down what’s actually safe, what’s worth your money, what’s overhyped, what makes us cringe, and what we would never do to our own faces. There will be science. There will be stories. There will definitely be opinions. And there may be a few industry secrets people wish we would keep to ourselves. We’ve worked in emergency rooms, trauma centers, flight nursing, hospital leadership, and yes, even jail medicine, before finding our way into the aesthetic world. Now we’re talking about the good, the bad, and the ugly of aesthetics from the perspective of two women who actually work in it every day. No corporate talking points. No filters. No pretending every new treatment is “game-changing.” Tox_N_Talk_Podcast_Description (1).pdf Just two Nurse Practitioners, two microphones, a lot of experience, and conversations we’re probably supposed to keep inside the treatment room. If you follow injectors, love aesthetics and wellness, are curious about the latest treatments, or simply want to know what’s really happening behind the perfectly filtered Instagram posts, pull up a seat. 1. Ep. 5 - Perimenopause Symptoms & Hormone Therapy: When “Normal” Labs Don’t Feel Normal

    Show notes

Fatigue, brain fog, irritability, sleep changes, hot flashes, and a drop in libido can leave you wondering: Is this just part of getting older—or could hormones be involved?

Trish and Tami talk about perimenopause, menopause, and what it can feel like when symptoms are affecting daily life but initial lab results are called “normal.” They discuss common concerns about hormone replacement therapy, why treatment decisions call for more than a single lab value, and how symptoms, medical history, thyroid function, and other health factors may fit into the bigger picture.

They also share why hormone care should be individualized, monitored, and guided by a qualified clinician—and why hormone therapy isn’t the right answer for everyone. The conversation briefly touches on postpartum mental health and the importance of seeking timely professional support when symptoms feel overwhelming.

If you’ve been trying to make sense of menopause symptoms or hormone therapy, join Trish and Tami for a candid conversation with clinical perspective and real-life stories.

  2. Ep. 4 - Florida Med Spa Regulations: Gray Areas, Safety & How to Vet Your Injector

    Show notes

Med spa rules can be confusing—and when Botox, filler, or other medical treatments are involved, safety matters. So what should you ask before trusting someone with your face?

Trish and Tami share a candid conversation about the regulatory gray areas they encounter in Florida med spas and the questions they believe patients should ask when choosing a provider. They talk about provider training, individualized assessments, emergency preparedness, and why knowing how to recognize and manage complications matters.

They also discuss social media misinformation, treatments being offered outside appropriate medical settings, and why a provider should be able to answer your questions about credentials and safety protocols. Their biggest message: aesthetic treatments are medical care, and patients deserve to understand who is treating them and what safeguards are in place.

Listen for an honest conversation about med spa safety, Botox and filler, and how to be a more informed consumer.

  3. Ep. 3 - From High School Dropouts to Nurse Practitioners: Our Unfiltered Journey into Aesthetics

    Show notes

Our paths into aesthetics were anything but straight lines.

In this personal episode, Trish and Tami share how they went from leaving high school and earning their GEDs to becoming Family Nurse Practitioners and med spa owners. They talk about the jobs, setbacks, career changes, and hard-earned lessons along the way—from makeup artistry, waitressing, and bedside nursing to emergency care, management, and building their own businesses.

They also open up about bullying, self-doubt, and why your path doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s. Their conversation is a reminder that a rough start or a nontraditional route doesn’t define where you can go—and that sometimes the detours lead you to the work you were meant to do.

This one is honest, funny, and personal: the story behind the providers, the friendship, and the businesses.

  4. Ep. 2 - Ozempic Face: Is It Real, or Is Weight Loss Getting the Blame?

    Show notes

Is “Ozempic face” a real side effect—or a catchy label for changes that can happen after significant weight loss?

Tami and Trish unpack what people mean by “Ozempic face,” including facial volume loss, hollowing, and skin laxity. They discuss how the conversation connects to weight loss more broadly, aging, nutrition, protein, hydration, and maintaining muscle with movement and strength training.

Then they get into options people may consider when changes bother them—from skin-tightening treatments and collagen-stimulating procedures to filler—and why the right approach depends on the person, their goals, and the amount of skin laxity. The hosts also share why weight-loss medication is a tool, not a substitute for supportive habits, and why the phrase “Ozempic face” can put unfair blame on the medication.

It’s a candid conversation about GLP-1 weight loss, facial volume, loose skin, and aesthetic treatment options—with clinical perspective and plenty of real talk.

  5. Ep. 1 - Have Aesthetics Gone Too Far? The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

    Show notes

When does enhancing your appearance cross the line into too much? In the debut episode of Talks and Talk, Trish, nurse practitioner and owner of Tranquility Aesthetics & Wellness, and Tami, owner of NuYu Laser and Med Spa, take an unfiltered look at the world of aesthetics.

From questionable injectors and unapproved products to TikTok medicine, AI-generated beauty expectations, filler blindness, overdone Botox, and the pressure to constantly do more, they discuss what can go wrong when aesthetics becomes more about profit than patient safety.

They also talk about the importance of proper training, understanding anatomy, realistic treatment plans, informed consent, and knowing when to tell a patient, “You don't need anything today.”

With plenty of humor and honest opinions along the way, Trish and Tammy make the case for a more thoughtful approach to aesthetics: enhance what you have, protect your health, and don't lose yourself trying to look like someone else.
