Two Little Kits

In this episode, I'm wrapping up so many finishes (which was unintentional, I swear!) — including the colour-dense cuteness of FlossyFoxShop's "Cat Dragon House", two [secret] handmade Christmas gifts for my girls, and the final part of Lola Crow Cross Stitch's "Museum After Midnight" stitch-along. Plus, I share a peek at my new DIY 3D-printed Dungeon Crawler Carl needleminders and chat through some exciting new pattern sketches currently living in my brain.

On the WIP front, we have good progress on my car project ("Autumnal Equinox"), a little love given to "Crafting Owl", test stitching on an upcoming design, and a cheeky confession about which project I completely neglected this fortnight. Oops.

Between nearly hitting a dizzying 10k(!) follower milestone on Instagram, locking in my registration for Stitch-Con 2027 (Weekend B again, here I come!), and finishing off a Halloween costume, it's been a very busy two weeks.

In this fortnight's episode, I'm celebrating a brand-new finish —the utterly adorable "Quilting Fox"— and officially launching my latest in my "Adulting" series; "Deserving Joy" (beautifully test-stitched by Jessica - thank you!). We are also diving into a mountain of WIPs, from a custom forest-floor embroidery design and a Stitch People family commission to the next FlossyFoxShop 'fantasy house', and a hilarious upcoming pattern design called "AI User" that has been living rent-free in my head.

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper catch-up without a bit of stash and real life. I'm sharing a new order from 123stitch.com (complete with one fabric colour surprise that didn't *quite* go as hoped) and scheming over what a new household 3D printer might mean for Two Little Kits 😈. Along the way, I share a small parenting win with our annual family photos, an impulsive batch of homemade Cheesymite scrolls that I've craved for a few months, and an honest chat about anxiety kicking my butt lately and what I've been doing to find my grounding again.

This fortnight, I'm celebrating a gorgeous new finish with FlossyFoxShop's "Winter Fantasy House", now hanging happily beside its autumn sibling, and giving you a sneak peek at "Deserving Joy" — what will be the next self-care piece in my "Adulting" series. Between near-finishes on the "Quilting Fox" and the final mammoth on the "Museum After Midnight" SAL, the stitchy mojo has been in full swing.

Of course, life wouldn't be complete without a bit of real-world drama to keep me on my toes [foreboding foreshadowing 🫣]. I share the whirlwind story of a rather terrifying foot scare (complete with a doctor dropping the word "gangrene" before a wonderful vascular specialist gave me the all-clear!), fawn over my lovely husband's hard work on StitchKit, and beg you all to hold me accountable because October is here and a certain Halloween costume isn't going to finish itself!

I'm celebrating the release of my brand-new, beginner-friendly pattern, "Find Me" — a cheeky design inspired by the game Meccha Chameleon that is set to become the first in a fun little three-part series 🤞 Of course, there's plenty of stitching progress to share too, from staying on track with "Flower Prairie" (even if I'm eyeing off a colour tweak) and making headway on a secret Christmas stitch for my oldest daughter, to inching closer to the finish line on "Museum After Midnight" just in time for the grand finale release.

Naturally, it wouldn't be a proper catch-up without a good old tangent. Alongside a lovely little haul of discontinued fabric and specialty floss, I dive into a candid chat about pattern designing, test stitching, and the rise of AI mockups. I'm a big believer in taking the time to properly stitch what we create rather than churning out endless designs, and I share my thoughts on why real stitches, patience, and transparent quality mean so much to our wonderful maker community.

Between recovering from a truly god-awful 72-hour bug and celebrating the quiet house now that the kids are officially back at school, my hands have been busy with stitching. We have a finished piece celebration for "Life at the Cottage" —which had a slightly abrupt ending when I chose to skip part 8— along with far too many new starts to feel guilty about. From Elle Noonan's gorgeous new pattern book "Cozy Cottage Cross-Stitch" to an irresistible winter Patreon release, the temptation to kit up new projects definitely took over this fortnight. Sorry not sorry.

Behind the scenes, my iPad is getting a workout. I'm sharing early thoughts on a Meccha Chameleon-inspired ("hide and seek" video game) pattern concept, plus a rather nervous, chatty breakdown of my sketches for the potential Dungeon Crawler Carl stitch-along.

It's new FlossTube day! I have plenty of cosy stitching updates and a few big life chats to catch up on this fortnight! On the stitching front, I managed a speedy 10-day finish on the utterly charming "Fall Fantasy House" by FlossyFoxShop, stayed on track with my current SALs, and finally hooped and hung my "Pretty Little Cities" trio (Sydney, LA, and Seattle) after having the first finish sitting around since 2022.

Beyond the hoop, I'm sharing some personal news after receiving my official neurological assessment results earlier this year, diving into early Halloween costume crafting with a very ambitious Ragatha wig for my youngest daughter, and asking for your thoughts on whether I should open custom holiday ornament orders again this season.

Happy new-FlossTube-day! In this episode, I'm sharing my newest cross-stitch pattern release, "Cascadia Edict" — my second Dungeon Crawler Carl -inspired design (with a huge shout-out to the kind stranger who helped me land on the perfect name!). Grab your current WIP and a cuppa because this fortnight's episode is a bit of a milestone one - I am officially celebrating my 40th birthday [on recording day]! (Which is absolutely bizarre, as I'm pretty sure I was just in my mid-20s last week?) Aside from reflecting on a few wonderful birthday treats (including my recent tattoo and that amazing trip to Stitch-Con in Ohio) I'm also incredibly relieved to share an update on my back. After two solid weeks of throwing me for a loop, I am finally on the mend thanks to a much-needed therapy massage, which means I've actually been able to spend some proper time with my needle and thread again.

We have plenty of stitchy updates to dive into today, including progress on my "Life at the Cottage" and "Museum After Midnight" stitch-alongs, a confession about a major signpost mishap on my "Flower Prairie" DIY piece, and a mountain of beautiful confetti stitches on "Cat Dragon House". Plus, I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing response to my latest cross-stitch pattern release, "Carl's Creed" - thank you so much to everyone who has picked up a copy! I'll also be sharing a peek at the new pattern folder system I've recently set up to tame my digital and physical pattern stash, and asking a serious question about book-series pacing. Grab a cuppa and your current project, because we have *so* much to catch up on today..! I am freshly back from Stitch-Con, and my mind (and suitcase) is absolutely overflowing. I'm sharing a look at the incredible gifts, freebie bin treasures, and swag I came home with, plus the beautiful fabric, patterns, and needleminders I couldn't resist buying. It was such a surreal, wonderful three and a half days—including the incredibly wild experience of being recognised by six total strangers!

Welcome back to the channel! It has been a busy couple of weeks on the stitching front, filled with a lovely mix of finishes, progress, and the inevitable "frogging" session. I am absolutely thrilled to share a fully finished piece with you today —complete with a beautiful new beechwood hoop— alongside a sneak peek at a brand-new D&D-inspired pattern coming to the shop very soon, and a brand-new design inspired by a certain Doctor Who joke that I couldn't get out of my head as an idea.

Welcome back to the channel! This episode is another wonderfully WIP-heavy update as I navigate eight different projects on my hoops. I'm sharing progress on everything from the vibrant Life at the Cottage SAL to a nostalgic return to The Secret Grove, which I picked up briefly after last month's little drink-spill mishap. I've also officially reached part 10 of Extraordinary Birds, which means it's time for dinosaur-birds!

On the pattern front, my newest design "1900s Baby" is officially out in the world, and I'm giving you a sneak peek at a new font called "Quinn" coming to the shop soon. Between all the stitches, life has been busy—I'm counting down the two short months until StitchCon and even squeezed in a blood donation on the day of recording.

This episode is very heavily focused on works-in-progress, which is honestly my favourite place to be. We’re diving into seven different projects today, ranging from massive full-coverage pieces to a cheerful new stitch-along. I also share a slightly terrifying "laundry day" story involving a tote bag, a playdate, and some rogue printer ink — thankfully with a happy ending!

Beyond the stitching, I’m sharing a few personal updates regarding my health and a new chapter in my self-discovery journey as I begin the process of seeking an Autism assessment. It’s been a bit of a week with a stubborn stye delaying this recording, but I’m so glad to finally sit down, show you my chaotic hoops, and chat about everything that's been happening!

We also have some exciting news regarding StitchKit and a look at a gorgeous new book, "Fantasy Cross-Stitch" by Iris Kleinbussink.

It has been a very busy few weeks, and my hoop (or rather, my MANY hoops!) has been full. I’m leaning even further into the work-in-progress life today with updates on *eight* different projects, including my progress on "Extraordinary Birds" and a very nostalgic return to my "Firefly" sampler. There’s also a new pattern release to celebrate — thank you all so much for the lovely reception for the "Introverted Club" design!

Beyond the stitching, my husband and I have been working on a 'Super Secret Project' behind the scenes for what feels like ages. I’m equal parts nervous and excited to finally start talking about it. It has been a very work-in-progress-heavy fortnight around here! Between finding a sudden flow state with a brand new design and making some serious headway on the new "Post-Apocalypse Fantasy" piece, my needle has hardly had a rest. I also share the bittersweet joy of finally releasing "Zodiac: Pisces," which marks the completion of my year-long Zodiac series. It’s a lovely feeling to see a long-term project reach the finish line.

Beyond the hoops, life has been a bit of a mixed bag. I’ve been dealing with some frustrating computer issues and a rather literal "ouch" moment after trying a new skincare product. I even had my very first encounter with being pulled over by the police for something incredibly silly!

Despite the IRL hiccups, the stitching has been a grounding constant, from the fiddly feathers of a peacock to the slow growth of my HAED.

Some things I would love your feedback on:

• Now that the individual signs are finished, how would you like to see a "Zodiac Series Overall" pattern? Should it be a single large layout, and do you think it’s something I should offer as a free resource for the community?
• I’ve been musing about a video showing every single WIP I have—active or tucked away. Is a "WIP Parade" something you’d enjoy watching, or do you prefer sticking to the active rotations?
• I went from idea to full design to first stitches in a single day this week. When was the last time you felt that "flow state" where you just couldn't put the needle down?

We're back with more stitchy goodness! This past fortnight has been a bit of a whirlwind here. Between mid-winter break with my girls and two days of beautiful snowfall, I've had plenty of time to huddle up with my stitching. I finally finished the Flower Dragon Meadow SAL, and after a little bit of "frog therapy" on a strawberry dragon, I am absolutely in love with the new yellow replacement. Plus, I have a brand new pattern release to share: "Boy Band", inspired by the Saja Boys (from "K-Pop Demon Hunters"). It's full of fire, fashion, and beautiful colours!

We're also checking in on a mountain of WIPs, from the slow "reveal" of the "Fairytale" HAED SAL to some of the final stitches on my "Zodiac: Pisces" pattern, which completes the entire series! I've also been doing some 'retail therapy' with a haul from nathnolu and FlossyFoxShop — because one can never have too many patterns in their stash.

The biggest news of all? I'm headed to Stitch-Con this June! I'm already dreaming about my travel projects and what to pack.
