Everyday Intimacy with Angela Rivero
Everyday Intimacy is a podcast for women who are exhausted by trying to heal the “right” way and still feel stuck.
Most of us were taught that healing means digging into the past, analyzing every pattern, talking it through, and pushing harder. Yet many women are left overwhelmed, disconnected from pleasure, and caught in nervous system patterns that keep repeating no matter how much insight they have.
Hosted by Angela Rivero, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and Somatic Sex, Intimacy & Relationship Coach, this podcast offers a different path. One that starts with the nervous system.

Your brain has had the mic long enough
Season 7, Episode 12
Show notes
You can understand your patterns, talk about your feelings, and explain exactly why you do what you do. But when was the last time you stopped analyzing yourself long enough to actually experience yourself?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, we explore what happens when we shift from thinking about the body to living in it, with a focus on feminine embodiment, body confidence, and the power of embodied experience.
Because your body isn't just something to figure out. It's where you feel, move, express yourself, experience pleasure, and connect with your own aliveness.
In this conversation, we explore:
•
What becomes possible when you move beyond talking about your experience and start actually experiencing it?
•
Feminine embodiment is more than a concept. What does it mean to move from understanding something intellectually to feeling it in your body?
•
Your relationship with your body matters. How does that connection influence your confidence and the way you move through the world?
•
What happens when you give yourself permission to feel, move, and be in your body?
Dr. Somer Nicole is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Somatic Therapist, and CranioSacral Therapist with more than 20 years of experience bridging science and soul. Her work integrates nervous system science, somatic practices, pelvic floor rehabilitation, feminine embodiment, and energy work to support women in reconnecting with their bodies and their innate power.
An invitation to explore a different way of relating to yourself. As you listen, notice when your mind starts explaining, analyzing, or trying to figure something out. Can you pause and notice what you're actually experiencing in your body instead? No need to make anything happen. Just get curious.

Good Food. Bad Gut Days. Now What?
Season 7, Episode 11

What happens when your gut starts making decisions for you? What you eat, where you go, what you wear, whether you feel comfortable being intimate, and how much of your life you’re willing to risk having a bad gut day?
Angela talks with Mikayla Loquist about gut health, food flexibility, and what it takes to feel more comfortable in a body that doesn’t always feel predictable.
Mikayla is a Gut Health Coach who helps women reclaim their lives from ongoing digestive issues, build a more flexible relationship with food, and find greater digestive comfort. Her personal experience, background in traditional healthcare, and continued education in functional nutrition and behavior change have shaped her holistic, personalized approach to gut health.
In this episode, we explore:
•
Why gut health involves more than what you eat
•
How to navigate bloating, digestive discomfort, and food reactions
•
Why food isn’t always the enemy, even when your body seems to react to everything
•
The emotional toll of ongoing gut issues, including embarrassment, anxiety, and feeling limited by your body
•
How digestive symptoms can affect confidence, relationships, and intimacy
•
Why individualized support matters more than one-size-fits-all food rules
•
How small, manageable changes can support your well-being over time
If you’re tired of planning your life around your digestion, afraid to eat certain foods, or frustrated by advice that doesn’t seem to work for your body, this conversation offers a different perspective on navigating gut health.
Because the goal isn’t simply to manage symptoms. It’s to have more freedom to live your life.

Turned On Living: A Conversation with Dr. Veda
Season 7, Episode 9
Show notes
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, host Angela sits down with Dr. Veda to explore sexual vitality, desire, and the many factors that shape how connected we feel to ourselves and our bodies.
Dr. Veda shares her perspective on why libido is about more than hormones. Stress, emotional well-being, movement, life stage, and our relationship with our own desires can all be part of the picture. Together, Angela and Veda discuss practical ways to check in with the body, build presence, and make space for intimacy through changing seasons of life.
In this episode:
• What it means to feel “turned on” beyond sexual arousal
• Why hormones matter, but may not tell the whole story• Why desire can shift: Dr. Veda explores how desire is a reflection of vitality, and why changes in libido may have less to do with hormones or attraction and more to do with stress, depletion, disconnection, circulation, and our relationship with ourselves.Dr. Veda is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, founder of the Turned On Clinic in San Diego, and host of Quantumly Kinky, where ancient wisdom meets modern intimacy. She believes desire isn’t something we lose; it’s a reflection of how connected we are to our bodies, our nervous systems, and our deepest truth. Through her work, she helps people awaken vitality, sensuality, and authentic connection by blending Eastern medicine, frequency medicine, and the science of regulation. The Money Stories That Shape Our Lives
Season 7, Episode 7
Show notes
Money, Shame, and the Stories We Inherit
What does your relationship with money have to do with your childhood, your relationships, your sense of security, and your sense of self?
Probably more than you think.
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, Angela talks with Chrissy Chase, an Accredited Financial Counselor and financial coach known as “the therapist with a spreadsheet,” about the emotional side of money.
We explore the money stories we inherit, why shame can keep us avoiding our finances, how money can create distance and resentment in relationships, and why financial conflict is often about much more than dollars and cents.
Chrissy also shares practical ways to move from avoidance to confidence, why transparency matters between partners, and how small steps can create real financial change.
•
The childhood messages that become our adult money stories
•
Why it can feel impossible to talk about money
•
Why “I’m bad with money” is often a story, not a fact
•
How money conflict can affect intimacy and trust
•
Why women can experience money as “his money” instead of “our money”
•
Emotional spending, loneliness, scarcity, and our relationship with desire
•
What healthy money communication actually looks like in a relationship
•
Why both partners need access and transparency
•
Preparing for major financial conversations, including supporting aging parents
•
Why it is never too late to change your relationship with money
Chrissy Chase is an Accredited Financial Counselor and financial coach who helps individuals and couples create healthier relationships with money. Drawing from her background in finance and her own life experience, she combines practical financial strategies with an understanding of the emotional and relational patterns behind financial decisions.

The Sex Map We Were Never Given
Season 7, Episode 7
Show notes
Rob Kancler on...
A lot of people genuinely struggle with sex. They’re disconnected, they don’t know what they want, or they’re stuck trying to perform it “right.” But what if we were never actually given a map for creating the sex life we want?In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, Rob Kancler and I explore the ways men and women have been taught to approach sex through performance, technique, expectations, and scripts, and what becomes possible when we move beyond them.
We talk about:
• The performance map: What men are taught sex is supposed to be, how that creates anxiety and disconnect, and what women may not realize is happening underneath it.
• Beyond technique: Why presence, attunement, openness, and authenticity can matter far more than knowing what you’re “supposed” to do.
• What women need to know about themselves: Female sexual performance, desire, vulnerability, and what can happen when you stop performing and start actually experiencing.
• What creates lasting sexual fulfillment: Moving from surface-level sex toward deeper connection, honesty, and presence.Rob Kancler has spent twenty years studying human sexuality. His claim is that almost nobody knows how to have the sex life they actually want, and that fixing it is worth a thousand times what it takes. Your Hormones Aren’t the Whole Story
Season 7, Episode 6
Show notes
Dawn Dalili on...
Your Hormones Aren’t the Whole Story
What if your hormones are explaining how you feel, but not necessarily why?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, Dr. Dawn Dalili and I explore the relationship between the life you’re living and what your body is saying about it.
Dr. Dawn Dalili is a Naturopathic Physician and expert in women’s hormones. After more than 15 years of supporting women with emotional eating, metabolism, and hormones, she began noticing an undeniable connection between what was happening in women’s bodies and the lives they were living. Today, her work focuses on helping women understand that relationship and listen differently to what their bodies are communicating.
• Your body knows before your brain is ready to admit it. What symptoms like fatigue, irritation, low libido, and other changes might be communicating.
• Hormones are the how, not always the why. We explore why hormones matter while also looking at the life, choices, desires, and circumstances surrounding what your body is experiencing.
• What happens when you stop trying to fix yourself. Why honoring your truth and your desires can tell you more than another supplement, protocol, or attempt to override what you feel.
• Perimenopause as a portal. Instead of seeing this stage of life only as something to manage, what if it creates an opportunity to pay attention to what is no longer working and what you actually want? This conversation is about women’s hormones, perimenopause, desire, libido, metabolism, fatigue, irritation, and the powerful relationship between our bodies and the lives we are living.
Sometimes the body isn’t asking to be fixed. It may be asking you to tell the truth.

Season 7, Episode 5
Show notes
Beth Switt on: What if the thing you’ve been trying to get rid of is actually trying to tell you something?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, Beth Switt and I explore what happens when we start listening to the body instead of treating every symptom, sensation, or emotional response as something that needs to be fixed.
• How subconscious beliefs show up in the body through tension, symptoms, emotional releases, and patterns we may not consciously recognize.
• Why symptom relief isn’t always resolution and what can happen when we turn the volume down without addressing what’s underneath.
• The difference between knowing and knowing — understanding something intellectually versus actually experiencing it in your body.
• Why safety, choice, boundaries, and co-regulation matter when doing deeper work.
• Turning toward instead of bypassing — meeting discomfort, shame, and protective patterns with curiosity and compassion.
• Building capacity before going deeper rather than pushing for catharsis.

The Missing Piece in Your Hormone Story
Season 7, Episode 4
Show notes
Gigi Hunt on: What if your hormones aren’t the whole story?
Women are cyclical, yet so much of modern life asks us to be consistent, productive, and operate at the same capacity every day. Gigi Hunt helps women understand what happens when we stop fighting that reality and start working with the body instead.
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, we talk about the connection between the nervous system, hormones, and the menstrual cycle, and why understanding that relationship can change the way you experience your energy, emotions, productivity, and life.
In this episode, we explore:
• Women are cyclical. What that actually means beyond simply having a period.
• Your cycles, hormones, and nervous system are constantly communicating. Gigi explains the connection and why the nervous system is like the conductor of the hormonal orchestra.
• Your cycle phases affect far more than your period. We get into the luteal phase, energy, consistency, emotions, productivity, and why you may feel like a completely different woman at different points in your cycle.Gigi Hunt is a Cycle & Flow Mentor who helps women understand the connection between their nervous system, hormones, and menstrual cycle so they can create more ease, self-trust, and alignment in life and business. Blending science, somatics, and feminine wisdom, she teaches women how to work with their cyclical nature rather than against it. Her work helps women move from burnout, overwhelm, and self-doubt into a deeper relationship with their body, energy, and inner rhythm.

Season 7, Episode 3
Show notes
Lyuba Venable on: Why Sex Can Feel Like It’s Not for You
There was a moment, early in Lyuba’s first experiences of being in a relationship, when she was having sex and realized it simply wasn’t good for her. As she watched her partner enjoying the experience, a thought came over her:“Sex isn’t for women.”
That thought sent her on a deeper exploration of female sexuality, desire, pleasure, and why so many women struggle to experience sex as something that is truly for them.
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, we explore:
• “Don’t spread your legs until she is on fire.” What Lyuba means by this provocative rule and why women’s desire matters.
• Why women may feel like they have a low libido. What low desire can actually mean, what may be underneath it, and why women may not want sex.
• Why so many women feel like sex isn’t for them. The difficulties, conditioning, and disconnection that can make sexuality and pleasure challenging to access.About Lyuba Venable

The Hidden Root of Anxiety, Overthinking, People Pleasing & Your Inner Critic
Season 7, Episode 2
Show notes
Why You Can't Think Your Way Out of Shame
You may think your biggest struggle is anxiety, overthinking, people pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt. But what if those aren't the real problem? What if they're protective patterns built around something much deeper: shame?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, Angela Rivero explores how shame isn't simply an emotion or negative thought; it's a nervous system survival response that shapes how you see yourself, connect with others, and move through the world.
You'll discover why insight alone isn't enough to create lasting change, how your Inner Critic is actually trying to protect you, and why healing shame requires working with both the mind and the body.
• Why shame is often the hidden root beneath anxiety, overthinking, people pleasing, perfectionism, and self-doubt
• The signs of shame most women don't recognize
• How shame develops through the nervous system and early experiences of connection, rejection, and belonging
• Why your Inner Critic is a protective part, not your enemy
• The difference between top-down (mindset) and bottom-up (somatic) healing
• How Parts Work and nervous system regulation help you heal shame at its source
• Why feeling your emotions isn't the same as becoming overwhelmed by them
• A simple way to begin responding to shame with curiosity instead of criticismShame doesn't just fuel overthinking or self-criticism. It's one of the biggest barriers to intimacy, being fully seen, receiving love, setting healthy boundaries, and feeling safe in authentic connection.
If you've ever wondered, "I know why I do this... so why can't I change?" this episode will help you understand what's happening beneath the surface, and how to begin healing at the root.

You Understand Yourself. So Why Are You Still Stuck?
Season 7, Episode 1
Show notes
The Healing Gap Between Insight and Transformation
Have you ever thought…
“I know better. So why do I keep doing the same thing?”
You’ve done the reflection.
You understand your patterns.
You’ve gained awareness.Maybe you’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, gone to therapy, or spent years trying to understand yourself.
And yet…
Something still feels stuck.
You still find yourself overgiving, people pleasing, pushing through exhaustion, shutting down, or repeating patterns you thought you had already worked through.
This is the gap between knowing and living differently.
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, Angela Rivero explores why insight alone doesn’t always create lasting change and why the missing piece is often the nervous system and the body.
Because your mind can understand something long before your body feels safe enough to live it.
In this episode, we explore:
• Why understanding your patterns doesn’t always mean you can change them
• The difference between insight, regulation, and true transformation
• How your nervous system shapes your reactions, choices, and relationships
• Why trauma is not only major life events, but also the experiences that shape how we relate to ourselves and the world
• How chronic stress, attachment patterns, and survival responses can impact the way we move through life
• Why mindset work alone often isn’t enough for lasting change
• How creating new experiences helps your body learn a new way of being
• The path from awareness to integration, alignment, transformation, and embodimentHealing is not about fixing yourself.
It’s about bringing the different parts of yourself back into relationship so you can feel more connected, empowered, and at home in your own life.
There is a difference between knowing something…
and truly embodying it.

The Relationship That Changes Everything Why So Many Women Still Feel Unmet
Many women are searching for love, safety, and intimacy.
In partners. In relationships.
In someone who finally sees them, understands them, and meets them in the ways they long for.
But what happens when that search keeps leaving you feeling… unmet?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, I’m joined by Ashley Miley, sacred intimacy coach and founder of The Sacred Intimacy Temple.
Ashley shares a powerful perspective on why so many of us look outside ourselves for the love, safety, and connection we’re longing for and how that pattern can quietly keep us disconnected from our own power.
We talk about sacred intimacy, relationship repair, and the deeper inner anchor many women are searching for without realizing it.
Ashley also shares how cultivating self-intimacy can shift the way we experience love, connection, and relationships altogether.
This conversation opens the door to something many women were never shown: that we have more agency and choice in how we experience intimacy than we may realize.
In this episode, we explore:
• Why the search for love and safety can keep women feeling unmet • Sacred intimacy and what it really means in everyday life • How our internal relationship shapes the relationships we create • Relationship repair and reclaiming agency in connection • The inner anchor many women are longing for and how to begin cultivating it • Reconnecting with your body, sexuality, and sense of aliveness • Healing sexual, relational, developmental, and attachment wounds in ways that lead to real freedom

When Someone Holds Steady
Season 6, Episode 11
Show notes
In this episode, I sit down with Keara Mangham, a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, to talk about what becomes possible when someone can hold steady while you begin to look at old patterns.
We explore attachment trauma and developmental wounds, and why the nervous system holds onto patterns that once made sense. Keara shares simple analogies to help explain why these patterns don’t just disappear with insight or willpower. Developmental trauma takes time to form. It also takes time, patience, and support to unwind.
We talk about how easy it is to mistake anxiety or depression for a character flaw. As if something is wrong with you. Instead, we look at these experiences as nervous system responses shaped by history. Not weakness. Not failure. Adaptations.
This conversation centers on the importance of trustworthy support. Regardless of modality, having someone steady, present, and safe enough to sit with you is often what allows deeper work to unfold. Healing is not about forcing change. It’s about being supported long enough for your system to soften.
If you’ve been trying to do this alone, this episode is an invitation to consider another way.
You’ll walk away with:
• A clearer understanding of why old nervous system patterns stay in place
• More compassion for anxiety and depression as adaptive responses
• A deeper appreciation for steady, relational support in long-term healingAbout Keara:

The Path They Never Taught Women
Season 6, Episode 10
Show notes
Reclaiming Your Life Force, Confidence, and Power
Many women feel disconnected from their desire, their confidence, or their sense of aliveness… and quietly wonder what happened.
You’ve done the self-help. You’ve tried to work on your mindset. Maybe you’ve even told yourself it’s just stress, hormones, or part of getting older.
But what if the real issue isn’t something to fix?
What if there’s a part of your body, your energy, and your life force that was never supported, never named, and never fully welcomed?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, I’m joined by Mollie, who helps women reconnect with their sensual energy, confidence, and passion through what she calls the “pussy” connection.
This conversation explores shame, numbness, low desire, and the quiet disconnection many women carry. We talk about why this part of the body holds so much power, why the language itself can feel uncomfortable, and how rebuilding this connection can restore confidence, vitality, and a deeper sense of self.
If the topic feels edgy, come with curiosity. This isn’t about performance or sexuality. It’s about coming back to your body, your life force, and your power.

Why low desire is often about disconnection, not dysfunction
•
How shame and conditioning impact women’s relationship with their bodies
•

Enough Already: One less thing to fail at and start thriving
Season 5, Episode 21
Show notes
Stop chasing “fixes” and start learning how your body can finally feel safe enough to thrive.
So many women are exhausted from trying to fix themselves, another book, another protocol, another cleanse, always chasing what’s “wrong.”
In this episode, I dive into why thriving isn’t about fixing.
We’ll explore:
•
How unconscious survival mode shows up in your body and relationships
•
The three primary survival patterns: hyperarousal (stuck on the gas pedal), hypoarousal (freeze/collapse), and fawning (people-pleasing)
•
Why the nervous system is the foundation of lasting change
•
How somatic awareness can help you step out of survival and into connection, energy, and joy
This episode is for women ready to stop surviving and start thriving. If you’ve been exhausted, overworked, or disconnected from yourself, this conversation will give you one less thing to fail at, and a path forward to more ease, presence, and aliveness.

The Patterns You Can’t Shake
Season 6, Episode 6
Show notes
What if some of the patterns you’ve been trying to “fix” didn’t start in childhood… but before you had language? Before memory. Even before birth?
In this episode of Everyday Intimacy, I’m joined by Kate White, an award-winning educator and advanced bodyworker specializing in prenatal and perinatal somatics, birth trauma healing, and early nervous system imprinting.
We explore how the earliest experiences, in the womb, during birth, and in early infancy, can shape the way your nervous system organizes around safety, connection, intimacy, and survival.
If you’ve done years of therapy and still feel stuck in anxiety, shutdown, chronic tension, people pleasing, or difficulty receiving support, this conversation may offer a new lens.
It’s about understanding how your body formed its first map of safety — and how healing is possible at any age.
•
What “earliest trauma” really means in lived experience
•
How prenatal and birth imprints can show up decades later
•
Why insight alone doesn’t always shift nervous system patterns
•
How early experiences influence attachment
•
The layered nature of trauma
•
How to begin recognizing your own early patterns
•
Why healing does not require pushing harder
If you’ve ever felt exhausted by trying to heal the “right” way, let this episode be a window of curiosity and hope.
Kate White is an award-winning educator and advanced bodyworker specializing in prenatal and perinatal somatics, birth trauma healing, and early developmental imprinting. She has been working in this field since 1999, supporting parents, babies, and adults in understanding how earliest experiences shape the nervous system.
She founded the APPPAH Department of Education, the Center for Prenatal and Perinatal Programs, and the Prenatal and Perinatal Somatics Institute. Kate teaches both online and in person and maintains a private practice in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
