276: Jonathan Griffiths - Carnivore Muscle
Episode 276
Show notes
Jonathan Griffiths
Jonathan Griffiths is a professional bodybuilder, nutritionist (BSc in Human Nutrition), and elite fitness coach. As the founder of Carnivore Muscle, Jonathan specializes in helping individuals build muscle, optimize athletic performance, and repair metabolic function through zero-carb, animal-based nutrition. By combining rigorous sports science with real-world experience on the bodybuilding stage, he empowers clients to achieve peak conditioning and long-term health.
Key Quote
“Keep working when the spotlight isn’t on you, ’cause that’s the time that you make the most progress. ‘Cause most of the time the spotlight is not on you.”
– Jonathan Griffiths
Jonathan’s Top Tips
• Keep working when the spotlight isn’t on you. That’s when you make the most progress, and most of the time the spotlight isn’t on you.
• Follow a carnivore or at least an animal-based diet. Be aware of plant toxins and make nutrient-dense animal foods the focus.
• Recovery is the bottleneck for building muscle and losing fat. If you don’t recover, you don’t get better.
• Don’t quit.
• Build yourself a good support system. The people around you mould you, so make sure they mould you the right way.Resources Mentioned
• Billy Doe Meats – the farm in Illinois that sent Angela the non-aged lamb, goat and veal she could finally eat
• Girdle Bridge Farm – where Angela got her fat while in England

275: Angela Lerro - The Meat Based Medium
Episode 275
Show notes
Angela Lerro
Angela Lerro, also known as the Meat Based Medium, is a Medical Intuitive and Integrative Healer specializing in nervous system regulation, emotional healing, and mind-body wellness.
After navigating a lifelong journey with chronic illness, Angela discovered that a carnivore diet was a powerful missing piece in her own healing, complementing the mind-body, energetic, and intuitive work she had practiced for years.
Today, she brings these worlds together through a unique approach blending intuitive insight, energy healing, nervous system regulation, ancestral wellness principles, nutrition, and holistic health. With more than a decade of experience in transformational healing work, Angela helps individuals look beyond symptoms to explore the deeper physical, emotional, and energetic patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
At the heart of her work is the belief that healing isn’t about following one perfect diet or protocol, but learning to reconnect with the body, trust its signals, and become an active participant in your own healing. Her work explores the intersection of ancestral health, human optimization, consciousness, intuition, and emotional well-being.
Key Quote
“I encourage people to look further than just the diet to heal them. Because most of the time, the answers aren’t just on our plate. They’re also in our soul.”
Angela Lerro
Angela’s Top Tips
• Trust the process. You may not see the results you’re looking for right at the beginning. Let go of your fears, have blind faith, and keep moving forward even when you feel like you want to go back.
• Have grace with yourself. Love yourself through the difficult times. Have grace when you make a mistake, if you cheat on your diet, or if you’re not feeling optimal and need more rest. Think kind thoughts and speak kind thoughts.
• Healing starts in the mind, and we are one decision away from living our best life. Everything you do is a decision. Ask yourself what’s stopping you from making a decision to do something better for you, and remember that not making a decision is a decision.Resources Mentioned

274: Felix Mueller - Can Keto Reverse Polycystic Kidney Disease?
Episode 274
Show notes
Felix Mueller
Felix Mueller is a health author, metabolic-health coach, and the founder of REVERSING PKD. Diagnosed with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (more than 1 in 1000 people have it) at age 16, Felix spent years searching for ways to influence a condition he had been told was largely beyond his control.
His research led him to therapeutic ketosis, fasting, metabolic flexibility, and the emerging science connecting mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, inflammation, and abnormal cell growth. By applying these principles to his own life, Felix has seen significant improvements in his metabolic health and kidney-related markers, including a reduction in total kidney volume and much increased kidney function.
He is the author of Reversing Polycystic Kidney Disease: The PKDproof Program, which includes more than 150 scientific references and a foreword by Dave Asprey. Through his book, podcast, online community, and one-to-one coaching, Felix helps people with PKD better understand nutrition, ketosis, fasting, protein intake, stress, environmental factors, and the practical realities of making sustainable lifestyle changes.
Felix’s work combines scientific curiosity with lived experience. His mission is to challenge the idea that people with chronic disease are powerless, and to help them become active participants in their own health journey.
Key Quote
“It’s not really about chasing super high ketones. This is a marathon, not a sprint.”
– Felix Mueller
Felix’s Top Tips
• Don’t chase super high ketones. If you’re doing this long term, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so make it sustainable.
• Make nutrient density and high-quality protein your top priority. Replace the foods you remove instead of just restricting yourself, for example with keto versions of your treats, so you don’t feel deprived. If you have kidney issues and need to limit protein, replace some of it with amino acids.
• Prioritise sleep, and prioritise salt. Both make a big difference to your quality of life on a ketogenic diet.Felix’s Books

273: Brendan Reesor - Beyond The Pale: Anemia and Mental Illness
Episode 273
Show notes
Brendan Reesor
Brendan is the author of Beyond The Pale, Anemia: The Visible Yet Unseen Cause of Mental Illness & Gender Dysphoria. After seeing improvements to his own mental health and outlook on life, Brendan began to see a pattern around anemic pallor, plant-based diets, mental illness, woke ideology, and gender dysphoria. His work connects physical health, nutrition, and physiology to mental health, psychology, spirituality, emotions, philosophy and more. Brendan addresses the most important yet overlooked factor in mental illness: oxygen. There is simply nothing more important for the brain than oxygen, and it’s not easy to get enough of it delivered to the brain, especially when anemic. Brendan focuses on blood and oxygen to better understand diverse phenomena, including depression, anxiety, hallucinations, dissociation, nightmares, irrational thinking, blushing, mass hysterias, and more.
Key Quote
“It doesn’t matter how much of your RDA is on the package. It doesn’t matter if the spinach says that you’re getting so much iron. It’s just on paper. In reality, you’re not getting any of it.”
— Brendan Reesor
Brendan’s Top Tips
• Learn to recognise and understand your symptoms — pallor, bruising, restless legs, hair and skin changes are all signals, not things to just shrug off.
• Eat more red meat, and avoid vegetables high in antinutrients (oxalates, tannins, soy protein, phytates) that block iron absorption.
• Don’t give up on yourself — improving your health is worth it, even if you never become “the perfect specimen.”Brendan’s Books

— Craig Emmerich

• Go back to whole foods — no matter which specific way of eating you follow, this alone helps most people.
• Move more, even outside the gym — small movement throughout the day (NEAT) adds up more than most people realise.

269: Matthew Caruana - The Sweet Keto Chef
Episode 269
Show notes
Matthew Caruana
Matthew built a career in professional cookery, becoming a Head Chef and working internationally. A serious motorbike accident in 2016 pushed him to take control of his health, leading to an eight and a half stone weight loss through a ketogenic diet. He began creating and sharing keto desserts, which grew into a following and a recipe book. After losing his job in 2020, he turned that passion into a business, becoming the UK’s first artisan keto chocolatier and going on to win multiple awards.
Key Quote
“I definitely feel depression from eating carbs, which is a crazy thing to say. I feel so much more sluggish and, you know… when you actually put the carbs back in, you feel so much worse, physically and mentally.”
— Matthew Caruana
Matthew’s Top Tips
• Get a proper night’s sleep. It’s free, and it’s one of the biggest things that helps with impulse control around food.
• Remove the treats from your house. If there’s friction between you and the bad stuff (having to get in the car and drive to the shop, for example), you’re far less likely to break.
• Don’t punish yourself if you slip up. If you get carbed, go to bed, and the next day draw a line under it. Beating yourself up just spirals into eating more sugary things.Matthew’s Book
Everyone Deserves Dessert — available exclusively via Matthew’s website (not on Amazon).

Mark’s Top Tips
• Go in with the right attitude. Know why you’re doing this before you start — if it’s a short-term fix, it won’t work. This has to be for the long haul.
• Don’t rush the process. You’re doing this for the rest of your life, so what’s the rush? It doesn’t matter if it takes longer than three months to get there.

266: Dave Mac - No Carb Life: Carnivore, Stroke Recovery and Getting Back Up
Episode 266
Show notes
Dave Mac
Dave Mac is the host of the No Carb Life YouTube channel. He’s conducted over 1,900 interviews with people reversing chronic illness with a carnivore diet, and has personally followed the carnivore diet for nearly four years.
Key Quote
“I’ve interviewed people that have reversed or seen improvements with glaucoma. And a gentleman that was legally blind — after doing carnivore for a while — he saw his daughter for the first time in 10 years.”
— Dave Mac
Dave’s Top Tips
• Take it one day at a time. Don’t project into the future or think about how you’ll manage it for a year — just focus on getting through today without carbs.
• If you slip up, don’t beat yourself up — get straight back on track. Beating yourself up just makes it harder to get back on the wagon; treat a slip as past and move on immediately.
• Don’t try to do everything at once. Trying to start carnivore, OMAD, and extended fasting all on day one sets you up to fail. Just focus on carnivore first — the fasting side tends to happen naturally once you’re fat-adapted.Resources Mentioned

265: Rosemary Laberee – Reversing Osteoporosis After 60
Episode 265
Show notes
Rosemary Laberee
Rosemary Laberee reversed osteoporosis in her sixties through heavy lifting, jumping, and a nutrient-dense low carb diet — and she’s here to tell you it’s entirely possible to do the same, even if it takes years.
Key Quote
“No one’s coming to save you when it comes to your bone health. You have to learn this. You don’t have any choice.”
— Rosemary Laberee
About Rosemary Laberee
Rosemary has successfully reversed osteoporosis – in her 60s – by lifting, jumping and adhering to a very low carb, nutrient-dense, high protein/high fat diet. She brought every major metabolic marker into a superb range in the process. Her husband and four young adult kids urged Ro to take her story to Instagram. There, she is advising other women how to return their bodies to factory settings with proper movement and nutrition. Ro has a background in business, a master’s in health sciences, and just retired from her third career in a nationally recognized research institute. She takes special pleasure in helping other women understand that the principles of bone renewal – and of overall vitality and longevity – are simple. Guard your sleep, eat real food, pick up heavy stuff, and avoid stress.
Rosemary’s Top Tips
• Your metabolic health is the number one thing for bone health — don’t wait for anyone to teach you, go learn it yourself.
• Don’t worry about how long it takes — you’ve got the rest of your life.
• Trust your own common sense — don’t let “experts” (often just operating out of expediency) do your thinking for you.
• Fall in love with the process, not just the result — craving stronger bones without embracing the hard work guarantees disappointment.
• What happens in the kitchen matters more than the hour in the gym — plan your meals in advance so you’re not making decisions (and bad choices) in the moment.
• Don’t buy into the belief that osteoporosis can’t be reversed — that’s a scarcity mindset, not science.Rosemary’s Books

264: Mark Byford - The Bowler Hat Farmer
Episode 264
Show notes
Mark Byford
Mark Byford, the Bowler Hat Farmer, spent eight months and 12,500 miles touring the UK to meet the farmers, growers and producers fighting to bring real food back to our plates. He talks to Jackie about why 72% of our food is now imported, how farmers can turn a loss-making acre into a £30,000 one, and why eating seasonally and buying local could save British farming.
Key Quote
“We’re at that one minute to midnight. The clock’s either going to go one way or the other. If we don’t wake up very quick, we’re never going to see real food again.”
— Mark Byford, The Bowler Hat Farmer
About Mark Byford
“Hi I’m Mark the Bowler Hat Farmer I’ve spent the past two years traveling from Land’s End to John O’Groats, visiting organic farms across the UK to explore innovative farming strategies. My passion for chemical-free food and sustainability.”
Mark’s Top Tips
• Look after people on the way up, because you’ll need them on the way down. — advice Mark got from his old boss, Victor Kiam.
• “I’d rather earn 1% of 100 people’s efforts than 100% of my own.” — a quote from John Kalench that shaped how Mark thinks about collective change.
• Find out what makes you tick, then do good with that knowledge — Mark recommends reading The Secret.
• Watch the film Pay It Forward — Mark calls it the most life-changing film he’s seen; the idea being that doing good for others comes back around.Resources Mentioned

263: Amanda King & Hari Kuhan - Metabolic Drugs for Cancer
Episode 263
Show notes
Amanda King & Hari Kuhan
Integrative oncologist Dr Hari Kuhan and metabolic nutritionist Amanda King join Jackie to talk metabolic therapy for cancer, why the ketogenic diet stresses cancer cells, and what’s in their new book, Metabolic Drugs for Cancer.
“Apply the brakes on a growing cancer. Anything above that obviously is a blessing and brilliant, but that’s the number one.”
— Dr Hari Kuhan
“The ketogenic diet causes stress on cancer cells, and stressed cancer cells are weaker.”
— Amanda King
About Hari Kuhan
Dr Hari Kuhan completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College London, where he also obtained a BSc in Surgery and Anaesthesia. He carried out his foundation and core medical training in Central London, with appointments at St Mary’s Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. Over time, he built substantial expertise in Medical Oncology, working at leading institutions including St Bartholomew’s, University College London, and the Royal Marsden Hospital.
He then pursued a research fellowship at Barts Cancer Institute, London funded by Stand Up to Cancer and HCA Healthcare, focusing on metabolic vulnerabilities in cancer stem cells and circulating tumour cells through the use of repurposed medicines and Vitamin C. Expanding his reach into translational and clinical development, Dr Kuhan joined the Sarah Cannon Research Institute UK (Harley Street), London where he served as lead sub-investigator on multiple Phase I and II solid tumour trials, and became adept at integrating next-generation sequencing outputs into therapeutic decision-making.
Motivated by both scientific innovation and patient-centred care, Dr Kuhan co-founded Lucio Health with long-time associate Raphael Swery, united by a vision to reshape cancer care for the 21st century. Together, they established a clinic that integrates precision oncology, metabolic targeting, repurposed medicines, and evidence-based integrative strategies—pioneering a personalised model that moves beyond the limitations of conventional, one-size-fits-all approaches.
At Lucio Health, cutting-edge AI-driven platforms interpret complex mutational and molecular data, while functional sensitivity testing of blood and tissue samples reveals how an individual’s cancer responds to a wide range of agents in real time. These insights are then integrated with metabolic and genomic profiling to create multi-layered, personalised roadmaps for each patient—designed not only to identify the most promising treatments, but also to avoid those unlikely to help.
The ambition of Lucio Health is to bridge the gap between laboratory science and lived patient experience: translating the latest advances in genomics, artificial intelligence, and metabolic oncology into practical, compassionate, and highly individualised care pathways. It is a clinic built on the belief that cancer treatment should be as unique as the patient facing it, combining clarity and scientific precision with humanity and hope.
About Amanda King
After earning her BSc through the Open University that combined Human Biology with Psychology and Counselling, Amanda King advanced her clinical training through the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London, qualifying as a Nutritional Therapist in 2022 and as a Naturopathic Practitioner in 2024. Most recently, she completed the Practitioner Master Course in Integrative Metabolic Oncology with the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health under Dr Nasha Winters, further deepening her expertise in terrain-focused cancer care.
Over the past decade, Amanda has honed her practice at the intersection of nutrigenomics, methylation science and epigenetics, integrating advanced lab diagnostics with personalised nutrition, therapeutic ketogenic and ancestral diets, and targeted supplementation to optimise each patient’s metabolic landscape.

260: Maia Sutherland - Metabolic Mayhem
Episode 260
Show notes
Maia Sutherland
Maia Sutherland says:
I was a life-long vegetarian, now however I’m mostly animal-based with far too much actual fuel going to my brain, I have become utterly obsessed with the topic and have written a book hoping to inspire people to spend parts of their life in ketosis and reduce their disharmonies. I can now say I am an author. I am the author of Metabolic Mayhem.
The intention of the book is that anyone from any country, religion, education and budget, can benefit from applying what is laid out inside it.
I also make a superb line of unique jewellery often combining precious stones with 2000 year old beads and some gold!
Since being mostly carnivore for the first time in my life I can sleep through the night, and do maths. I marvel at how it buffers mental states such as depression and anxiety. Perhaps because I have more mental energy to think, I am more angry, or perhaps that is the peri-menopause which is a whole other conversation.
I am totally in love with the subject of health, and through keto, carnivore and low carb, my understanding has gone through a huge upgrade. I am also a trained acupuncturist since 2002 and was a masseur for 12 years.
