    Season 1, Episode 43

    Show notes

Everybody’s picking a side in the Shawn Ryan and Leah Files controversy. We’ve got questions for both.

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden discuss the interview fallout, the debate over missing footage, and the competing explanations for why the conversation was initially shelved. Was it a credibility problem, a calculated move, or something else? We talk through the possibilities and make it clear where we’re speculating.

We also get into reading body language, the limits of spotting deception, and why somebody saying something with confidence doesn’t make it true. Eddie shares what happened when he questioned a potential guest’s story—and got called a fed and blocked for it.

Plus, we discuss how we vet potential guests and a possible upcoming interview that could connect more dots, if the details check out.

  2. The Charlie Kirk Interviews Changed EVERYTHING for Our Podcast

    Season 1, Episode 42

    Show notes

What happens when an interview you never expected to go viral suddenly puts your podcast in the middle of one of the biggest conversations on the internet?

In this episode of Lunatics & Legends, Eddie and Branden pull back the curtain on the wild weeks following their interviews with Charlie Kirk's former audio engineer, Jeff.

What started as an unscripted conversation quickly exploded into something neither of us could have anticipated. Thousands of comments, hundreds of thousands of views, accusations of being federal agents, grifters, and gatekeepers, and an unexpected wave of support from some of the biggest voices covering the Charlie Kirk story.

We're talking about ALL of it.

    🔥 IN THIS EPISODE:

    • How our interviews with Jeff came together completely unexpectedly.
    • Why Jeff initially declined additional interviews and what led him to sit down with Christine Fekete.
    • The accusations that we're gatekeeping Jeff and controlling who gets to interview him.
    • The support we've received from Baron Coleman, Christine Fekete, Zach Costello, and other independent creators.
    • Why Jeff's firsthand experiences at TPUSA don't always align with the theories circulating online.
    • Our questions and concerns surrounding the official narrative of Charlie Kirk's assassination.
    • The unexpected controversy surrounding Officer Brandon Tatum.
    • Why independent journalism, asking difficult questions, and pursuing the truth matter.
    • Our ongoing frustrations with Meta, Facebook restrictions, and the challenges facing independent content creators.
    • What's next for Lunatics & Legends as our audience continues to grow.

We've been called everything from grifters to government operatives, but the reality is much simpler: we're two guys having conversations, asking questions, and giving people an opportunity to share their stories.

We never set out to become a Charlie Kirk investigation channel. But when interesting stories come our way, we're not afraid to explore them.

A massive thank-you to everyone who's supported us, shared our interviews, credited our work, and helped introduce Lunatics & Legends to a much larger audience.

Special thanks to Baron Coleman, Christine Fekete, Researcher Daisy, Zach Costello, The Daily Freddo, Adam from The Real One Podcast, and the many others who've shown us support.

And to Chris, the Marine we mention toward the end of the episode: Keep your chin up, brother. You've got people rooting for you.

  3. Stanford University's Dark Secrets: Stolen Land, Exploitation & a Mysterious Death | Eddie & Branden

    Season 1, Episode 33

    Show notes

What if one of America's most prestigious universities was built on a legacy of corruption, exploited labor, political influence, and a mysterious death that still raises questions more than a century later?

In this episode of Lunatics & Legends, Eddie and Branden take a deep dive into the controversial history of Stanford University, the powerful family behind its founding, and the disturbing events that helped shape one of the most influential institutions in the world.

At the center of the story is Leland Stanford, a railroad magnate, former California governor, U.S. senator, and one of the influential businessmen behind the Central Pacific Railroad.

While Stanford University is internationally recognized for academic excellence, groundbreaking research, and its relationship with Silicon Valley, the history of the wealth and power behind its founding tells a much more complicated story.

We examine allegations of political corruption, railroad subsidies, land seizures, the exploitation of Chinese immigrant workers, and the enormous fortunes accumulated during America's westward expansion.

But the story doesn't end with Leland Stanford.

In 1905, Jane Stanford died under suspicious circumstances in Hawaii following an earlier apparent poisoning attempt.

Her death raised serious questions involving strychnine poisoning, conflicting medical conclusions, and the actions of Stanford University's first president, David Starr Jordan.

Was Jane Stanford murdered? Why did the accounts surrounding her death change? And what role did the university's leadership play in shaping the public narrative?

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Leland Stanford's rise to power: From Gold Rush businessman to railroad magnate and political powerhouse.
    • The Central Pacific Railroad: Government subsidies, questionable financial practices, and the enormous influence of railroad monopolies.
    • Exploitation of Chinese laborers: The dangerous working conditions, discrimination, and human cost of constructing America's railroads.
    • Land seizures and political influence: How railroad expansion affected property owners and communities throughout the American West.
    • The founding of Stanford University: The family fortune, the death of Leland Stanford Jr., and the university's original mission.
    • Jane Stanford's mysterious death: The poisoning evidence, conflicting medical findings, and unanswered questions surrounding her final days.
    • David Starr Jordan: His leadership at Stanford, controversial beliefs about eugenics, and his involvement in the aftermath of Jane Stanford's death.
    • The birth of Silicon Valley: How Stanford's land, research partnerships, and relationships with technology companies helped transform Northern California.
    • Historical accountability: How prestigious institutions should confront uncomfortable chapters of their past.

Before diving into the Stanford story, we also discuss our ongoing frustrations with Meta and Facebook monetization, including account restrictions, automated customer support, advertising issues, and the challenges independent content creators face when trying to build sustainable businesses.

We share our experiences working with LegalShield and why we believe creators should understand their legal options when dealing with major technology platforms.

Affiliate disclosure: Lunatics & Legends has an affiliate relationship with LegalShield and may receive compensation through qualifying referrals.

Is Stanford's history more complicated than its reputation?

This episode asks an uncomfortable question:

How much of America's institutional wealth and prestige can be traced back to practices that would be considered deeply unethical today?

From railroad fortunes to political connections, academic influence, and a century-old death investigation, this is a story about money, power, and the lasting consequences of decisions made generations ago.

We're not claiming to have solved a historical murder or uncovered a new conspiracy. We're examining historical accounts, documented controversies, and questions that remain open to interpretation.

What surprised you most about Stanford University's history?

Do you believe major institutions should be held accountable for their founders' actions, even more than 100 years later?

Let us know in the comments.

  4. From Homeless Alcoholic to Army Counterintelligence & a $24 Million Business Sale | Fred Auzenne

    Season 1, Episode 3

    Show notes

What does it take to go from homelessness and alcoholism to military counterintelligence, entrepreneurship, and a multimillion-dollar business sale?

On this episode of Lunatics & Legends, Eddie and Branden sit down with Fred Auzenne, a former U.S. Army counterintelligence agent, entrepreneur, personal development coach, and PSI Seminars facilitator whose life story challenges everything you think you know about failure, success, personal responsibility, and the power of your own mind.

Fred's journey is anything but ordinary.

He began drinking at a young age, struggled with alcoholism throughout his teenage years, and eventually found himself homeless, sleeping wherever he could and weighing just 125 pounds. At 22, he made a decision that would change the direction of his life forever.

Now, 43 years sober, Fred has built a life that once seemed unimaginable.

After joining the U.S. Army, Fred worked his way into military counterintelligence, trained in Russian, and served in assignments around the world. Following his military career, he entered the corporate world, transitioned into entrepreneurship, and helped build a company that ultimately sold for $24 million.

But Fred's greatest lessons aren't about intelligence operations or making millions.

They're about understanding why people remain trapped in destructive patterns, how our beliefs shape our decisions, and what happens when we stop blaming circumstances and start examining the stories we tell ourselves.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • From addiction to recovery: Fred's journey from homelessness to 43 years of sobriety.
    • Inside Army counterintelligence: How a troubled past became part of an unexpected military career.
    • Building and selling a business: Lessons from scaling a company and selling it for $24 million.
    • The stories we tell ourselves: How childhood experiences, trauma, and repeated beliefs influence the way we interpret the world.
    • Breaking the victim mentality: Why personal accountability can be uncomfortable but transformative.
    • Living without regret: How Fred reframes failure, disappointment, and painful experiences.
    • Wealth and limiting beliefs: Why our relationship with money can affect the opportunities we pursue.
    • The power of perspective: How changing the meaning we assign to events can change our responses.
    • PSI Seminars and personal development: What Fred has learned about self-awareness, coaching, and lasting change.
    • Living life by design: Why having a vision matters more than simply setting goals.
    • The price of success: Understanding the sacrifices, risks, and discipline behind meaningful accomplishments.

Fred also shares why he believes most people would rather remain comfortable than confront the beliefs holding them back.

Throughout the conversation, we challenge conventional ideas about success, regret, masculinity, responsibility, and resilience. We also examine the important distinction between being harmed by an event and deciding how to move forward afterward.

One of Fred's most powerful messages is that meaningful change doesn't always require a complete transformation overnight. Sometimes a small adjustment in your thinking can lead to dramatically different results over time.

You cannot change everything that has happened in your life. But you can examine how those experiences influence the choices you make next.

Whether you're struggling with limiting beliefs, recovering from failure, building a business, pursuing financial freedom, or simply trying to become a better version of yourself, this conversation offers a different perspective on what's possible.

The question is: Are you willing to challenge the story you've been telling yourself?

If this conversation resonates with you, leave a comment and tell us which part challenged your thinking the most.

  6. Charlie Kirk's Former Audio Engineer Speaks Out: What Really Happened Behind the Scenes? | Jeff Tretta

    Season 1, Episode 37

    Show notes

What was really happening behind the scenes of The Charlie Kirk Show? Who controlled the messaging, how much influence did major donors have, and was Charlie Kirk aware of everything happening within Turning Point USA?

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden sit down with longtime friend and professional audio engineer Jeff, who spent approximately two and a half years working directly with Charlie Kirk and his production team.

After engineering more than 600 episodes of The Charlie Kirk Show, Jeff offers a rare firsthand perspective on the people, personalities, and operations behind one of America's most recognizable conservative media figures.

And some of his experiences raise serious questions about the business of political influence.

Jeff shares his recollections of working inside the Turning Point USA environment, including what he describes as donor pressure, internal politics, restricted access to Charlie, and the growing tensions he observed during his time with the organization.

He also discusses an influential fundraiser reportedly responsible for bringing in tens of millions of dollars annually, along with his belief that Charlie was increasingly questioning what was happening around him.

But Jeff's perspective isn't what some might expect.

Despite having significant political disagreements with Charlie Kirk, Jeff describes him as a genuinely kind, thoughtful, and exceptionally intelligent individual who treated his production crew with respect.

He shares personal memories of working with Charlie, his remarkable ability to debate and communicate, and the differences between the public personality audiences knew and the man Jeff interacted with professionally.

The conversation takes an even more interesting turn as the guys discuss the unanswered questions and widespread speculation surrounding Charlie Kirk's death.

From security concerns and the handling of cameras and microphones to the theories circulating online, they examine which questions deserve further scrutiny and where speculation may be getting ahead of the available evidence.

Jeff also offers his perspective on Candace Owens, including what he personally observed about her involvement during his time working with Charlie and what he simply cannot confirm.

The discussion explores the complicated relationship between money, political messaging, media influence, and the people operating behind the scenes.

    Other topics include:

    • Jeff's experiences producing more than 600 episodes of The Charlie Kirk Show.
    • The role of major donors and allegations of influence over political messaging.
    • Why Jeff believes Charlie Kirk was insulated from parts of his own organization.
    • Security concerns and the events that contributed to Jeff leaving.
    • His personal observations of Charlie's character, intelligence, and professional relationships.
    • Candace Owens and questions surrounding her relationship with Charlie.
    • The theories surrounding Charlie Kirk's death and the importance of separating firsthand knowledge from speculation.
    • Jeff's experience working for Officer Tatum and the circumstances surrounding his departure.
    • The realities of working behind the scenes in political media.

But Jeff's career extends far beyond politics.

A musician and audio engineer with more than 30 years of experience, Jeff also shares the story of his band's appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where an outrageous Battle of the Bands competition led to national exposure and opportunities that seemed destined to change everything.

He discusses the unpredictable nature of the music industry, the challenges of keeping a band together, and his current work with Blue Exit Audio, Suit Yourself, and Solly Ink Records.

The guys also talk about recording technology, the frustrating realities of podcast production, and how Jeff built a career working across music, entertainment, and political media.

Throughout the episode, the conversation moves between serious questions, firsthand experiences, personal reflections, and the humor that makes Lunatics and Legends what it is.

Was Charlie Kirk fully in control of the organization built around his public image, or were other powerful interests influencing what happened behind the scenes?

And how much can someone who worked directly with him help us understand the difference between the public narrative and the reality of everyday operations?

Join Eddie, Branden, and Jeff for an intriguing conversation about Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA, the influence of money in political media, and the experiences of someone who witnessed a side of this world most people never get to see.

We want to hear from you. What do you think about Jeff's experiences, and what questions do you believe still need answers?

  7. Charlie Kirk's Former Audio Engineer Reveals MORE: The $80 Million TPUSA Mystery | Jeff Tretta 2

    Season 1, Episode 38

    Show notes

What was really happening behind the scenes at Turning Point USA? Who controlled the money, how much influence did major donors have, and was Charlie Kirk aware of everything happening within his own organization?

After our first interview with former Charlie Kirk audio engineer Jeff generated an overwhelming response, we knew there were more questions that needed answers.

In this explosive follow-up episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden welcome Jeff back to the studio for a deeper examination of his two and a half years working on The Charlie Kirk Show, where he engineered more than 600 episodes and witnessed the organization's operations firsthand.

This time, we're asking the questions we didn't get to ask during Part 1.

Jeff shares additional details about donor meetings, internal management, financial decisions, and the individuals who operated behind the scenes at Turning Point USA.

One of the biggest revelations centers on a mysterious woman Jeff says was responsible for bringing approximately $80 million annually into the organization.

Who was she? How much influence did she have? And why did her presence reportedly command so much attention?

Jeff describes the high-pressure donor presentations he personally helped produce, the extraordinary lengths employees went to satisfy financial supporters, and his concerns about the culture developing within the organization.

But the conversation goes much deeper than money.

Jeff discusses his belief that Charlie Kirk was surrounded by people who controlled access to him, managed his schedule, and influenced the environment around him.

He also recounts witnessing tense exchanges involving financial matters and describes why he believes Charlie was beginning to ask more questions about the operation.

Throughout the interview, Jeff makes an important distinction: despite his criticisms of various people associated with the organization, he remembers Charlie Kirk as a genuinely kind, intelligent, and respectful person who wanted to make a difference.

The guys explore whether Charlie's personal goals were always aligned with the business interests of those surrounding him.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • The mysterious woman reportedly responsible for $80 million annually in TPUSA fundraising.
    • Jeff's firsthand experience producing major donor meetings.
    • Allegations of financial waste and questionable spending within Turning Point USA.
    • The people who managed Charlie Kirk's access, schedule, and professional environment.
    • A heated financial discussion Jeff recalls witnessing during his employment.
    • Claims involving questionable financial transfers and what Jeff actually knows about them.
    • Questions about Turning Point USA's reported campus chapters and organizational growth.
    • The circumstances surrounding Charlie Kirk's death and the theories that followed.
    • Erika Kirk's leadership transition and the public response following Charlie's passing.
    • Candace Owens, her ongoing questions, and her relationship with Charlie.
    • Jeff's personal experiences with several prominent figures connected to The Charlie Kirk Show.
    • His perspective on how political media can become driven by fundraising, influence, and financial interests.

Jeff also discusses his experience working with Officer Tatum, including additional stories about the business side of political broadcasting and his professional relationships within that environment.

The conversation raises broader questions about the intersection of money, religion, politics, and power.

What happens when an organization grows into a massive financial operation? Can the people who founded it maintain control of their original mission? And what happens when the business interests of those surrounding a public figure begin to conflict with that figure's personal beliefs?

Eddie, Branden, and Jeff examine these questions while separating Jeff's firsthand recollections from secondhand information, personal interpretations, and theories that remain unproven.

As the conversation draws to a close, Jeff shares a personal memory of his final interaction with Charlie Kirk, offering a reminder that behind every public figure is a human being whose life is far more complicated than what audiences see on camera.

This is a conversation about far more than one political organization.

It's about money, influence, loyalty, personal integrity, and the difference between the person standing in front of the camera and the people making decisions behind it.

Whether you watched our original interview or are hearing Jeff's story for the first time, this episode takes a deeper look at the questions surrounding Turning Point USA and the political media industry.

We want to hear from you.

What stood out most from Jeff's experiences? Which questions deserve further investigation? And how much transparency should organizations receiving millions of dollars in donations be expected to provide?

  8. Milwaukee's Most Haunted Venue? Ghosts, Secret Tunnels & Terrifying Encounters | Eddie & Branden

    Season 1, Episode 35

    Show notes

What happens when a historic concert venue, mysterious underground tunnels, an abandoned swimming pool, and decades of unexplained stories all come together?

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden dive into the chilling history of Milwaukee's legendary Eagles Ballroom, now part of The Rave, a massive entertainment venue with a reputation for paranormal activity and strange encounters.

But this isn't just another collection of ghost stories. Branden has actually worked inside the building and experienced some of its unexplained phenomena firsthand.

Originally constructed as a gathering place for the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the historic building has hosted countless concerts, famous musicians, and influential figures throughout its history. Beneath the venue lies an enormous abandoned swimming pool, mysterious passageways, and dark underground spaces that have inspired stories of hauntings and unsettling encounters.

Branden shares his experiences working concerts inside the venue, including strange photographs he took of the underground pool that appeared to contain unexplained distortions, unusual lighting, and bizarre visual anomalies.

He also recounts stories passed along by fellow touring professionals, including an incident in which an entire concert reportedly lost power while a single spotlight inexplicably remained illuminated, shining directly on a musician who had spent the day mocking the building's supposed paranormal activity.

Was it a technical malfunction, an elaborate coincidence, or something that science can't easily explain?

The conversation explores the history of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, its connections to influential political figures, and the speculation surrounding what may have occurred within the building's walls over the decades.

But the paranormal stories don't stop in Milwaukee.

Eddie shares a frightening experience from his teenage years while traveling through northern Arizona near Navajo Nation. After hearing stories about skinwalkers and being warned never to whistle at night, he decided to challenge the warning.

What followed was a series of unsettling experiences involving a suddenly ill driver, a mysterious encounter along a dark highway, and strange animal sounds coming from the surrounding wilderness.

The guys explore Navajo skinwalker folklore, alleged shapeshifting entities, and why some traditions warn against deliberately inviting supernatural encounters.

Branden also shares disturbing personal experiences from working at a historic Hollywood restaurant, including a heavy beer keg inexplicably falling from a stack, mysterious figures appearing in dark corridors, and a basement freezer that became one of the creepiest places he'd ever worked.

Eddie adds stories about a supposedly haunted bar in Tempe, Arizona, where employees have reported strange activity, objects moving, and unexplained disturbances.

Throughout the episode, the conversation takes plenty of unexpected turns, including Hollywood legends, celebrity folklore, iconic musicians, the infamous 27 Club, and the strange stories surrounding some of America's most recognizable entertainment destinations.

With their signature humor, personal stories, and willingness to explore the unexplained, Eddie and Branden examine the question that has fascinated people for generations:

Are haunted locations simply products of imagination and misunderstood events, or could something genuinely unexplained be happening around us?

Whether you're fascinated by paranormal investigations, haunted buildings, skinwalker legends, supernatural encounters, or the darker side of American history, this episode is packed with strange stories, entertaining tangents, and plenty of reasons to reconsider what might be lurking in the darkness.

30 Years Behind the Scenes: Linkin Park, Mötley Crüe & Rock's Wildest Road Stories

What really happens behind the scenes when some of the biggest bands in the world hit the road? The sold-out arenas, massive stages, backstage chaos, international adventures, and friendships that last long after the tour buses stop rolling?

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden welcome Brad, a veteran touring professional with more than 30 years of experience working alongside some of the biggest names in music.

From Linkin Park, Audioslave, and the Jonas Brothers to the Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, Pentatonix, and Mötley Crüe, Brad has spent decades traveling the world and helping bring massive live productions to life.

And he's got the stories to prove it.

Brad and Branden reconnect over their years working together on the road, sharing hilarious memories from international tours, unforgettable nights in foreign countries, and the ridiculous situations that happen when a bunch of roadies spend months traveling together.

From finding all-you-can-eat tacos and beer in China to drunken adventures in Belgium involving a mysterious 30-pound souvenir that somehow made it all the way back to a Linkin Park equipment locker, the stories are every bit as entertaining as you'd expect.

But life on tour isn't always glamorous.

Brad explains what it really takes to build and operate massive concert productions, the exhausting schedules, endless travel, long hours of downtime, and the sacrifices that come with spending months away from family.

The guys discuss how touring crews become their own families, why some people thrive in that environment while others fall apart, and how the friendships formed backstage can last a lifetime.

The conversation takes a more personal turn when Brad and Branden share memories of working with Linkin Park, including Brad's experiences with drummer Rob Bourdon and the unique relationships that develop between musicians and the crews who support them.

Brad also shares a touching memory involving Dave Williams of Drowning Pool, who once escaped the pressures of fame by spending a week sleeping on Brad's couch in Kansas City, simply enjoying the opportunity to be himself.

They reflect on the tremendous pressure placed on successful musicians and how fame, addiction, personal struggles, and constant expectations can take a devastating toll.

In one of the episode's most meaningful conversations, Brad and Branden discuss their experiences attending Chester Bennington's memorial, while Brad also recounts attending the memorial for legendary Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, including memories of Eddie Van Halen and Zakk Wylde paying their respects.

These firsthand experiences offer a rare perspective on the people behind the music and the relationships that exist beyond the spotlight.

Of course, this is Lunatics and Legends, so things don't stay serious for long.

The conversation takes some wildly entertaining turns into backstage pranks, military stories, the realities of Warped Tour, unexpected adventures in Singapore, and the questionable decisions people make when they're thousands of miles from home.

The guys even dive into conspiracy theories, including the Mandela Effect and the infamous Titanic and Olympic ship-switch theory, before exploring their shared love of unusual music and underappreciated artists.

From Reggie and the Full Effect and My Chemical Romance to Brand New and Neutral Milk Hotel, the discussion becomes a celebration of the music, musicians, and experiences that shaped their lives.

What is life really like behind the curtain of a major rock tour, and what happens when the music stops and the lights go down?

Join Eddie, Branden, and Brad for an unfiltered, hilarious, and occasionally emotional conversation about rock history, backstage adventures, legendary musicians, lifelong friendships, and the people who make the world's biggest concerts possible.

Whether you're a die-hard Linkin Park fan, a lover of classic rock and metal, an aspiring touring professional, or simply someone who enjoys hearing extraordinary stories from people who've lived them, this episode offers an entertaining look at a world most music fans never get to experience.

Because sometimes the best stories from a concert happen when nobody's on stage.

  10. The Thin Line Between Lunatics and Legends: Art, Chaos & Finding Your Purpose | Zon Carvalho

    Season 1, Episode 36

    Show notes

What separates a lunatic from a legend? Is it success, perception, creativity, or simply the courage to live life on your own terms?

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden welcome back extraordinary artist Zon Carvalho for a fascinating conversation about art, personal transformation, ambition, overcoming adversity, and the pursuit of greatness.

This visit is particularly special because Zon unveils his incredible commissioned painting of the Lunatics and Legends logo, a one-of-a-kind original that now hangs proudly in the podcast studio.

But this isn't just another painting.

Zon explains the deeper symbolism behind the artwork, including the hidden messages, contrasting imagery, and layers representing the chaos, beauty, struggles, and experiences that shape our lives. The guys explore the philosophy behind the podcast's name and how the line between being considered a lunatic or a legend can be remarkably thin.

The conversation quickly evolves into something much deeper.

How much of our potential is limited by the beliefs we hold about ourselves?

Zon shares his experiences navigating the art world, building his personal brand, understanding the value of his work, and overcoming the self-doubt that can accompany success. He discusses the challenges of pricing original artwork, the importance of creative freedom, and why artists must recognize the value of what they bring into the world.

Eddie opens up about his own difficult beginnings, including periods of homelessness, struggling to afford food, and the determination that helped him build a dramatically different life. Together, they discuss the importance of remembering where you started while continuing to pursue the life you envision.

The guys also explore the psychology of personal growth, the influence of childhood experiences, overcoming limiting beliefs, and how our environments and relationships can either elevate us or hold us back.

Zon shares a particularly interesting lesson from his ambitious attempt to create 2,025 pieces of artwork in a single year. Although he didn't reach that number, the experience fundamentally changed his approach to creativity, decision-making, and overcoming resistance.

They discuss why sometimes the greatest breakthroughs happen when we stop obsessing over perfection and simply commit to doing the work.

    Other topics include:

    • The meaning and symbolism behind the new Lunatics and Legends painting.
    • The difference between creating art and simply producing a product.
    • Imposter syndrome, self-worth, and understanding your own value.
    • Why success can create new challenges instead of eliminating them.
    • Breaking free from childhood experiences and limiting beliefs.
    • The power of gratitude, introspection, and personal responsibility.
    • Why your environment and the people around you matter.
    • Finding the balance between ambition, sacrifice, and fulfillment.
    • Zon's journey toward expanding his art business and reaching a larger audience.

Throughout the conversation, Zon challenges the idea that we're supposed to reach a certain level of success and simply become comfortable.

Instead, he encourages us to continue growing, pursuing excellence, and recognizing that the obstacles we encounter can become opportunities for transformation.

And, of course, this wouldn't be Lunatics and Legends without plenty of humor, unexpected tangents, and the occasional completely ridiculous conversation.

Are you living the life you truly want, or are you allowing your own beliefs to determine what's possible?

Join Eddie, Branden, and Zon Carvalho for an entertaining, thought-provoking conversation about creativity, resilience, self-discovery, and what it really means to become your own legend.

    Show notes

The Dark Side of American Presidents: Sex, Scandals, Racism & Corruption

What if some of the most powerful men in American history were also responsible for some of the country's most disturbing decisions, scandals, and abuses of power?

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden take a deep dive into the darker side of the American presidency, examining the controversial actions, questionable morals, political corruption, and shocking personal lives of some of the men who occupied the White House.

From the years leading up to the Civil War to the scandals of the 20th century, the guys explore a side of presidential history that doesn't always make it into the classroom.

The conversation begins with presidents like Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, and James Buchanan, whose administrations supported policies protecting and expanding slavery during one of the most divided periods in American history. They examine the Fugitive Slave Act, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, the Dred Scott decision, and the political failures that helped push the country toward the Civil War.

The discussion continues with Andrew Johnson, whose presidency became one of the most controversial chapters of Reconstruction, raising questions about civil rights, constitutional protections, and the motivations of America's political leaders.

But the scandals don't stop with the Civil War.

Eddie and Branden explore Warren G. Harding's administration, including the infamous Teapot Dome scandal, allegations of widespread government corruption, political favoritism, and Harding's numerous extramarital affairs.

They also examine Herbert Hoover's leadership during the Great Depression and the economic decisions that contributed to one of the most devastating periods in American history.

    Then comes Lyndon B. Johnson.

From his notoriously vulgar behavior and controversial racial politics to the Vietnam War and accusations of government deception, the guys discuss why LBJ remains one of the most polarizing presidents in American history.

And because no presidential discussion would be complete without a few dishonorable mentions, they also explore controversies involving Thomas Jefferson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Grover Cleveland, Bill Clinton, and Woodrow Wilson.

Throughout the episode, Eddie and Branden challenge the idea that presidents should be celebrated without criticism. They debate the difference between personal character and political accomplishments, question the loyalty of America's political parties, and examine how corruption and abuses of power can survive from one administration to the next.

Were these presidents simply flawed men making difficult decisions, or does American history reveal a much deeper pattern of political corruption and self-interest?

With their signature humor, sarcasm, and willingness to tackle uncomfortable subjects, Eddie and Branden revisit the history of the American presidency without putting anyone on a pedestal.

Now we want to hear from you: Who do you believe was the best president in American history, who was the worst, and why?

MKUltra Failed... But Did the CIA Find a Better Way to Control Minds? | Fred Auzenne

What if the CIA's most infamous mind control program never truly succeeded—but the lessons learned from it changed how people are manipulated forever?

Former Special Agent Fred Auzenne returns to Lunatics and Legends for a fascinating and controversial conversation with Eddie and Branden about MKUltra, government experimentation, psychological manipulation, and the disturbing history of attempts to control human behavior.

The discussion begins with the CIA's MKUltra program, exploring the secret LSD experiments, Operation Midnight Climax, the mysterious death of Army scientist Frank Olson, and the destruction of thousands of classified records. Fred examines the connections between Nazi-era experimentation, Operation Paperclip, and the American intelligence community's pursuit of mind control during the Cold War.

But the conversation quickly develops into a compelling debate: Did MKUltra actually succeed in creating programmable assassins, or did the CIA discover that controlling someone's environment, beliefs, and information was far more effective than drugs and torture?

The guys explore controversial theories surrounding Charles Manson, Ted Kaczynski, and other notorious figures, examining alleged connections to government psychological experiments while questioning how much of the evidence supports these theories.

Fred also breaks down the psychology of manipulation through historical examples, including Jim Jones and Jonestown, Heaven's Gate, NXIVM, and Stanley Milgram's famous obedience experiments. He explains how isolation, authority, fear, coercion, and carefully controlled information can influence ordinary people to behave in extraordinary ways.

The discussion then turns toward modern society, examining how social media, political polarization, propaganda, and information algorithms may influence our beliefs and decisions without us ever realizing it.

In a powerful shift toward personal development, Fred shares how his experience studying human behavior inspired his ClearEdge90 program, designed to help high-performing individuals change their relationship with alcohol and regain control of their lives.

Eddie also opens up about his own journey to sobriety, the destructive effects alcohol once had on his life, and why he believes people shouldn't have to hit rock bottom before making meaningful changes.

From the CIA's darkest experiments to the psychology shaping our everyday decisions, this episode asks one disturbing question: How much control do we really have over our own minds?

The Insane Life of John McAfee: Millions, Murder Allegations & a Mysterious Death

What happens when a brilliant tech entrepreneur becomes a multimillionaire, an international fugitive, a presidential candidate, and one of the most controversial figures in modern technology?

In this episode of Lunatics and Legends, Eddie and Branden dive into the absolutely unbelievable life of John McAfee, the eccentric creator of McAfee Antivirus, whose journey from Silicon Valley success to international notoriety reads more like a Hollywood thriller than a true story.

McAfee built a cybersecurity empire worth millions, helped pioneer the antivirus industry, and became one of technology's most recognizable personalities. But his life took a bizarre turn after financial losses, questionable business ventures, and a move to Belize that would eventually place him at the center of international controversy.

The guys explore McAfee's wild years in Belize, including his armed security compound, alleged involvement with criminal organizations, accusations of controlling an entire village, and the mysterious murder of his neighbor, Gregory Faull. McAfee denied involvement in the killing, but the controversy sent him fleeing across international borders while journalists documented his increasingly unpredictable adventures.

    And that's just the beginning.

From hiding from authorities and allegedly faking a heart attack to running for president, promoting cryptocurrency, challenging the IRS, and escaping onto a luxury yacht, McAfee seemed determined to live entirely by his own rules.

Things become even more mysterious when the conversation turns to his arrest in Spain and his death in a Spanish prison in June 2021.

Before his death, McAfee publicly expressed fears about his safety and made extraordinary claims about possessing 31 terabytes of compromising information involving powerful individuals and government agencies. He also claimed to have established a dead man's switch that would release sensitive information if something happened to him.

But was any of it real?

Eddie and Branden explore the speculation surrounding his death, his reported use of body doubles, claims that he might have survived, and the alleged connections between his supposed secret files and the tragic collapse of a condominium building in Florida.

Throughout the episode, the guys examine the difference between documented events, McAfee's own outrageous claims, and the conspiracy theories that continue to circulate years after his death.

Was John McAfee a misunderstood genius, a dangerous eccentric, a master manipulator, or a little bit of everything?

One thing is certain: His life was anything but ordinary.

Join Eddie and Branden for a hilarious, shocking, and unpredictable journey through the life of one of technology's most infamous personalities.

From antivirus software and international manhunts to cryptocurrency, murder allegations, government secrets, and mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, this episode delivers one incredible story after another.

Did John McAfee take his own life, or is there more to the story?

This episode discusses documented historical events alongside allegations, personal opinions, and unverified conspiracy theories. Speculation about McAfee's death, supposed secret files, and other individuals should not be interpreted as established fact.

  19. From Millionaire to Rock Bottom: Jim Kleiser's Incredible Comeback | Jim Kleiser

    Season 1, Episode 27

    Show notes

What happens when a man who built himself from nothing, created a multimillion-dollar business, and seemingly had everything he ever wanted suddenly watches his entire world fall apart?

In this powerful episode of Lunatics & Legends, Eddie and Branden sit down with longtime friend, Navy veteran, and successful entrepreneur Jim Kleiser, whose extraordinary journey from childhood poverty to financial success, devastating medical complications, and personal redemption is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of brotherhood.

Born in Amityville, New York, Jim experienced a difficult childhood marked by family separation, domestic violence, and financial hardship. After his mother escaped an abusive relationship, Jim found himself growing up in a single-wide trailer in rural upstate New York, surrounded by poverty and limited opportunities.

But rather than accepting his circumstances as his destiny, Jim made a decision that would shape the rest of his life: He was going to build something better.

At just 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Navy, eventually pursuing a career as an electrician. Through years of hard work, determination, and an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit, Jim built his own electrical services company through the Mr. Electric franchise.

Starting with a single van operating out of his garage, Jim grew his business to $1 million in annual revenue in under two years, eventually building an operation targeting approximately $7 million in annual revenue.

He had achieved the American dream. Financial security, a thriving company, a relationship, and the confidence that came from building his own success.

    Then everything changed.

After developing serious spinal problems, Jim underwent a medical procedure that he believes contributed to devastating complications. His condition deteriorated, ultimately requiring emergency surgery following a suspected spinal cord stroke.

Once a physically capable man who prided himself on solving every problem, Jim suddenly struggled to walk, spent weeks hospitalized, and faced a long and uncertain recovery.

But his physical suffering was only the beginning.

While struggling to regain his independence, Jim experienced the collapse of his engagement, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, and even a fire that damaged his home.

The man who had spent his entire life being everyone's problem solver suddenly found himself unable to solve his own.

For the first time, Jim had to learn how to accept help rather than always being the one providing it.

In this deeply personal conversation, Jim opens up about the darkest period of his life, the importance of having a strong brotherhood, and the role that faith played in helping him find a reason to keep moving forward.

Eddie shares how Jim's mentorship helped shape his own personal development and why watching someone he respected so deeply struggle through such devastating circumstances became one of the most difficult experiences of their friendship.

Together, Eddie, Branden, and Jim explore the difference between success and fulfillment, the dangers of defining yourself solely by your financial achievements, and why surrounding yourself with the right people can make all the difference when life becomes overwhelming.

They also discuss entrepreneurship, capitalism, overcoming a poverty mindset, forgiveness, masculinity, emotional resilience, and the importance of learning to appreciate the journey rather than constantly chasing the next milestone.

Throughout the conversation, Jim reveals a surprising realization:

Despite everything he lost, he wouldn't trade the man he's become for the life he had before.

His experiences forced him to reevaluate his priorities, strengthen his relationship with God, embrace gratitude, and recognize that true wealth isn't simply measured by how much money you've accumulated.

It's measured by the relationships you've built, the lives you've impacted, and the person you've become along the way.

  20. Shot in the Head, He Got Up and Stopped a Mass Shooter | Raul Mendez

    Season 1, Episode 25

    Show notes

What would you do if you were shot in the head, left for dead, and woke up to the screams of your family as a gunman continued his killing spree?

For Raul Mendez, that nightmare became reality. And what he did next is nothing short of extraordinary.

In this powerful episode of Lunatics & Legends, Eddie and Branden sit down with Raul Mendez, a husband, father, survivor, and Second Amendment advocate whose incredible story of courage and determination has inspired people across the country.

What began as a Fourth of July celebration with family and friends turned into an unimaginable tragedy when a neighbor entered the gathering and suddenly opened fire on innocent people.

Raul was shot in the side of the head, with the bullet traveling through his face and exiting through his left eye. He collapsed to the floor, bleeding profusely, while the gunman continued attacking guests throughout the home.

His wife, seven months pregnant at the time, believed her husband was dead. With their two young daughters and other children in danger, she rushed them into a closet and barricaded the bedroom door, desperately trying to keep them alive.

But Raul wasn't dead. And he wasn't finished fighting.

Despite suffering a devastating gunshot wound, losing his left eye, and experiencing severe damage to his hearing, Raul regained consciousness. Unable to see clearly and barely able to process what had happened, he faced an impossible decision: escape the house or move toward the screams and attempt to save his family.

    He chose to fight.

Armed with his concealed handgun, Raul made his way toward the attacker and fired four shots, ending the threat and preventing further violence.

In this emotional and unfiltered conversation, Raul recounts the terrifying moments of the shooting, the incredible bravery displayed by other victims, and the determination that carried him through an extraordinary recovery.

He shares what it was like waking up in the hospital, being uncertain whether he would ever walk again, and refusing to accept a life defined by what had happened to him.

His mentality was simple: He refused to become a victim of his circumstances.

Rather than surrendering to fear or despair, Raul focused on recovering, providing for his family, and becoming stronger than he was before the attack.

The conversation also explores his journey into Second Amendment advocacy, the importance he places on responsible firearms ownership, and how surviving an attack strengthened his belief in the right to self-defense.

Raul even shares the remarkable story behind his custom prosthetic eye, which features an actual .45-caliber shell casing. Rather than wearing it as a reminder of the bullet that nearly killed him, he wears it as a symbol of the firearm he used to stop the attacker and save lives.

Eddie, Branden, and Raul discuss the psychology of survival, overcoming adversity, personal responsibility, the importance of preparation, and what separates those who surrender to impossible circumstances from those who refuse to quit.

Throughout the conversation, one message stands above everything else:

You cannot always control what happens to you, but you can choose how you respond to it.

Raul Mendez's story is a testament to courage, fatherhood, perseverance, and the extraordinary lengths a person will go to protect the people they love.

This isn't simply a story about surviving a gunshot to the head. It's about a man who refused to die, refused to abandon his family, and refused to allow the worst moment of his life to define the rest of it.

Lunatics & Legends brings you authentic, unfiltered conversations with extraordinary people whose experiences challenge our understanding of courage, masculinity, resilience, and the human spirit.
