Our Deepest Fear
Show notes
Welcome Home, Dream Merchant.
You may recognize the words from Akeelah and the Bee, Coach Carter, a motivational speech, or a classroom wall. You may have even heard them attributed to Nelson Mandela. But “Our Deepest Fear” was written by author Marianne Williamson.
In this episode, Johnell traces the journey of a passage that traveled through books, films, homes, and generations before landing with you today. He shares how hearing a mentor speak about teaching it to his young daughter inspired him to introduce the passage to his own children—and eventually incorporate it into an early design for The House of Langston.
This is a conversation about fear, purpose, and why playing small doesn’t serve the world.
Your light was never meant to be hidden.
Now that’s Langston.

Welcome Home, Dream Merchant
.A chance encounter in a grocery store reveals the power of a name, a story, and something as simple as a shirt.
In Alexis ’79, Johnell traces The Deonne Collection from an act of awareness to a deeply personal family legacy—honoring two-time survivors, acknowledging men like Ralph Bryant whose stories are often overlooked, and remembering Demetria Alexis Blunt, born in 1979.
Because statistics may show us the size of the problem, but names help us understand its weight.
Hope for the fighters. Peace for the survivors. Prayers for those we’ve lost.
Every name has a story. Carry their stories with you.
Protect your dreams by any means.
Now that’s Langston.

Fly Is A Mindset
Season 1, Episode 2
Show notes
Welcome Home, Dream Merchant.
Fly isn’t an age group. It’s a mindset.
In this episode, Johnell reflects on growing up in hip-hop culture—when the sneakers mattered, the details mattered, and finding that one piece nobody else had was part of the science of getting fresh.
That energy didn’t disappear when we became adults. It evolved with us. The House of Langston represents the Dream Merchants who still appreciate fresh kicks, classic pieces, personal style, and walking into a room with intention. We’re not chasing youth or following every trend. We’re simply continuing a culture we helped build.
Because getting fresh has no expiration date.
Today’s 50 ain’t yesterday’s 50.
Now that’s Langston.
