Rebuilding Trust With Your Body
Are you tired of dieting, obsessing over food, and feeling like you're constantly at war with your body…but also wondering how the heck you're supposed to care about your health without falling right back into diet culture?
Welcome to Rebuilding Trust With Your Body, the intuitive eating podcast for women who want to make peace with food, feel more comfortable in their bodies, and take care of their health - without dieting, tracking, restricting, or starting over every Monday.
I'm Katy Harvey, a registered dietitian, intuitive eating coach, and eating disorder specialist with 20+ years of experience helping women heal their relationships with food and their bodies.
Around here, we're not pretending that health doesn't matter, that body image struggles magically disappear when you stop dieting, or that intuitive eating means eating whatever you want whenever you want with zero regard for nutrition.
Instead, I'll teach you how to become an intuitive eater who can trust herself around food, practice gentle nutrition without turning it into another diet, navigate health concerns without obsessing over weight, and build a relationship with your body that isn't dependent on the number on the scale.
We'll talk about intuitive eating, food freedom, emotional eating, overeating, binge eating, body image, gentle nutrition, diet culture, perimenopause and menopause, movement, health, weight concerns, and what it actually takes to stop dieting for good.
ENOUGH ALREADY with all of the diet culture nonsense.
You are ENOUGH ALREADY as you are.
If you're a woman who's ready to get healthier without hating yourself in the process, you're in the right place.

#263: What If Your Struggles With Food Aren't Actually About Food? With Jennifer Lancaster
Episode 263
Show notes
DM me "CHALLENGE" on IG to join the FREE 5-day Have Your Cake & Eat It Too Challenge happening October 12-16! @katyharvey.rd
Now…for today's episode… What if your struggles with food and your body aren't really about food or your body?
In this episode, I'm joined by trauma and eating disorder therapist Jennifer Lancaster, LCSW-S, PATP, RYT, founder of Houston Healing Collective, to explore the connection between trauma, chronic dieting, eating disorders, body image, and the nervous system.
We talk about why you can know all the "right" intuitive eating or eating disorder recovery skills and still feel stuck, especially when the deeper issues underneath your behaviors haven't been addressed.
You'll learn:
1 - How trauma can show up through restriction, bingeing, perfectionism, exercise, and body disconnection. 2 - Why emotions can come rushing in when you stop using food or dieting behaviors to cope. 3 - How EMDR, ketamine-assisted and psychedelic-assisted therapy can help when talking about your experiences hasn't been enough. If you're frustrated that you "know what to do" but you're not doing it, or you feel stuck on your journey towards recovery or healing your relationship with food, this episode will give you things to consider that you might not have thought about before.
Episode Highlights
-What actually counts as trauma (because it isn't always something catastrophic), and how it impacts your connection with your body and your ability to eat intuitively. -Why learning coping skills often isn't enough to fully heal your food and body image issues. -Where to start if you want to feel safer and more at home in your body starting today.

#262: The #1 Thing You NEED To Do On The Days You Don't "Like or Love" Your Weight or Body Image
Episode 262
Show notes
What do you do on the days when you look in the mirror and not only don't like your body, but you loathe it…and you're triggered to want to "do something" about it like cut out carbs, skip breakfast, or download the Weight Watchers app for the 11th time.
If there's one thing I know for sure it's this: Hating and berating your body isn't a pathway to making peace with it.
On the other hand, you don't need to force yourself to "love your body" either. You do need to choose to respond to these bad body image days differently though.
And it starts with choosing to RESPECT your body.
In this episode, I'm breaking down what body respect looks like when your body image sucks, you're desperate to lose weight, terrified of gaining weight, or you're tempted to throw away all the sugar and processed food in our house and go back to "clean" eating.
Improving your body image doesn't mean waking up every morning obsessed with how gorgeous you look. It's much less glamorous: feeding your body, wearing clothes that fit, going to the doctor, moving in ways that feel supportive, and refusing to bully yourself.
If you're working on intuitive eating, body acceptance, healing your relationship with food, letting go of diet culture, or making peace with your body, this episode will give you concrete actions you can do (and things NOT to do) on bad body image days.
Episode Highlights
•
How quickly body image can send you right back into old diet-y behaviors that make things worse.
•
What NOT to do when you're having a bad body image day, you feel desperate to lose weight, and you feel super uncomfortable in your own skin.
•
The difference between body positivity, body neutrality, and body respect. (Hint: body positivity isn't the answer here - and I'll explain why.)
•
Practical ways to care for your body even when you don't feel confident in it.
•
What it looks like to pursue nutrition, movement, sleep, medical care, and other health behaviors from a place of self-care instead of self-punishment

#260: What Does "Having a Healthy Relationship With Food and Your Body" Actually Mean?
Episode 260
Show notes
What does it actually mean to have a healthy relationship with food and your body?
Is it eating nutritious foods most of the time? Never overeating? Loving your body? Not caring about your weight? And how do you know when your attempts to be "healthy" are actually starting to work against you?
In this episode, I'm joined by Donna Friedman, a licensed professional counselor and eating disorder specialist who brings a unique perspective through her clinical expertise, her own lived experience with an eating disorder, and her experience as a parent.
We talk about what a genuinely healthy relationship with food and body looks like, where the line falls between dieting, disordered eating, and an eating disorder, and some of the behaviors around food, weight, and exercise that our culture considers completely "normal" but may actually be cause for concern.
Donna also shares why letting go of intentional weight loss can feel so threatening, what people misunderstand about body image, why changing your body doesn't necessarily change how you feel about it, and the less obvious signs that your pursuit of health may be costing you more than you realize.
If you've ever wondered, "Okay, but what am I actually trying to get TO with intuitive eating and body image work?" this conversation will help you see what a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food and your body can actually look like in real life.
Episode Highlights:
-What a genuinely healthy relationship with food and your body actually looks like and how to know what you're working toward beyond simply "not dieting."
-Where the line falls between dieting, disordered eating, and an eating disorder, including behaviors our culture praises as "healthy" that may actually be concerning.
-Why changing your body doesn't necessarily improve body image, and why letting go of intentional weight loss can feel so threatening even when you know dieting isn't working.

#259: Our Thinness and Wellness Obsession Has Gone Too Far with Morgan DiPrimo
Episode 259
Show notes
We live in a world that is completely obsessed with weight loss, thinness, health and wellness…but we've completely lost the plot. From the glorification of extreme thinness that we are seeing everywhere right now, to the repeated message we've received that weight loss is good and weight gain is bad - it's so hard to embrace and accept our bodies as they are meant to be.
And on the back end of all of this we are seeing a crisis: eating disorders.
People are literally dying in their pursuit of thinness. Others are suffering from years or decades of a battle with an eating disorder that tells them they're never good enough.
My guest today, Morgan DiPrimo, is on a mission to change this. A filmmaker, speaker, and eating disorder advocate, Morgan has conducted more than 400 interviews across six continents with leading clinicians, researchers, policymakers, educators, nonprofit leaders, families, and individuals with lived experience. Her work explores the intersection of mental health, media, technology, healthcare, and culture, with a focus on identifying systemic gaps and creating solutions.
Morgan is currently producing Mind Over Mirror, a feature-length documentary examining the growing eating disorder crisis, the impact of social media and emerging technologies, treatment barriers, physician education gaps, and the future of prevention. Through the documentary and a planned national summit, she aims to bring together leaders from medicine, research, policy, education, media, and lived experience to drive meaningful change.
Whether you personally have an eating disorder or not, this is an incredibly important conversation that you NEED to tune into (and share with others).
Episode Highlights:
-What Morgan learned from interviewing over 400 experts and people with lived experience regarding eating disorders and our relationship with food and our bodies.
-How social media impacts our perception of our bodies and influences our behaviors.
-Wellness that seem helpful on the surface, but are actually dangerous.

#258: The 4 Core Steps to Not Feeling Tempted to Start Another Diet
Episode 258
Show notes
Your intuitive eating journey is going to be a LOT harder if you're constantly battling the urge and temptation to go back on another diet. And look, I get it…healing your relationship with food is HARD and diet culture can be so convincing.
In this episode, I'm breaking down the 4 steps that I use every single week with my clients to help them move past wanting to go back to dieting - so that they can keep their momentum moving forward towards becoming an intuitive eater.
I'll be breaking down a case study of a client who went from bingeing multiple times every week for decades of her life…to not being able to remember the last time she binged because it had been so long - and how she got there.
Episode Highlights
-The 4 steps that my clients take that allows them to walk past the bathroom scale without feeling the desire to get on it "just to check" after they eat out at a restaurant the night before.
-Specific examples and ideas for what YOU can do immediately to apply each of these 4 core steps we're discussing.
-How to get out of the "messy middle" and "no man's land" in between dieting vs intuitive eating where you feel like you're not successfully doing anything well with food or your health.

#257: If You Want Food to Have LESS Power Over You, Stop Doing This
Episode 257
Show notes
Have you ever wondered why certain foods have SO much power over you?
You tell yourself you shouldn't eat the cookies...and suddenly you can't stop thinking about them. You eat something you consider "unhealthy" and spend the rest of the day feeling guilty. You make the "healthy" choice and feel proud of yourself for being good.
Here's the problem: the more moral meaning you assign to food, the more power it has over you.
In this episode, we're talking about FOOD NEUTRALITY and why letting go of "good" and "bad" food labels is about so much more than changing your vocabulary - it's about rewiring your brain to think, feel and behave differently with food.
This is one of the most essential and non-negotiable concepts that I teach. Buckle up, and let's go!!!
Episode Highlights
-Why trying to control certain foods can actually make you feel MORE out of control around them
-The judgments you're still attaching to your food choices that are sabotaging your intuitive eating journey
-Why food neutrality does NOT mean pretending all foods are nutritionally identical
-How to care about nutrition without using guilt, fear or morality to guide your choices
-What it actually looks like when food starts to lose its power over you

#256: 7 Ways That Successful Intuitive Eaters Think Differently
Episode 256
Show notes
Brace yourself for some brutal honesty in this episode. After working with over 1,000 women to help them ditch dieting, recover from disordered eating and make peace with food through intuitive eating - I've noticed that those who succeed think differently than those who either continue to struggle or who give up.
Today, I'm breaking down the 7 ways that people who are the most successful with becoming intuitive eaters think differently and approach the process differently.
Trust me, it's different from "just listen to your body" or gaslighting yourself into body positivity. This is about the actual ways that you are wiring your brain to relate to food and your body differently - SO THAT intuitive eating can fully work for you and allow you to become happier, healthier and comfortable in your body.
Episode Highlights
-The key thought patterns that need to change if you want intuitive eating to fully work for you.
-Why most people either skip or don't know how to do the body image work…and how this holds them back from making peace with food.
-The characteristics of someone who has become an intuitive eater (and how to tell if you're there yet or not!)

#253: The Top 4 Mistakes You're Making With Intuitive Eating (JULY 2026 MASTERCLASS)
Show notes
Tune into the full masterclass that I recently ran that was so insanely powerful that I just HAD TO bring it over here to the podcast.
If you're feeling stuck or like something's just "not clicking," with intuitive eating, it's not just you. Intuitive eating is a beautiful framework…AND I'm not going to sugar coat it –
If you're not implementing it correctly, the way it's intended, it's not going to work for you.
99% of people who attempt intuitive eating give up on it because they never figured out how to do it successfully - because they weren't even aware of the mistakes they were making and their blind spots.
I also want you to know that when you finally feel clear + confident about how to correctly do intuitive eating, it will bring you SO MUCH PEACE, FREEDOM AND JOY.
I've been helping my clients become intuitive eaters for 15+ years now, and I have seen the mistakes and the areas where people get stuck - and I know how to get you unstuck!
That's why I created this masterclass called The Top 4 Mistakes You're Making With Intuitive Eating - Which Are Why It's Not Working For You and You Still Feel Unhealthy and Out of Control Around Food.
Episode Highlights
-The 4 most common mistakes people make with intuitive eating (and I can guarantee you're making at least 1-2 of them). In this class we'll fix this!!
-The essential thing you're ignoring with nutrition - and it's setting you up for stronger cravings, endless snacking at night and not being able to accurately listen to your hunger and fullness cues.
-How your mindset about your weight is working against you. We don't ignore weight in my world, but we also don't use it to measure your worth or "success/failure" with intuitive eating. Instead, we're going to flip the script with a new way of looking at weight so it's not sabotaging your IE process.

#252: Here's What to do if Your Health Issues Feel Overwhelming and it's Making You Doubt Your Intuitive Eating Journey
Episode 252
Show notes
You're worried about your health? Good! It's great to want to take care of yourself. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't do intuitive eating. Intuitive eating is all about honoring your health in ways that are effective and sustainable.
And if you've been doing intuitive eating and your health is getting worse, then we need to take a look at what's going on. Sometimes it's about playing the long game and working through all the deprivation that dieting caused, and letting yourself have those formerly forbidden foods a lot before you find balance with your eating again.
Sometimes it's about your body letting you know that it needs some "gentle nutrition" support which is literally one of the principles of intuitive eating!
Rather than panicking and going back to dieting (which is only a temporary "fix" that usually makes things worse) - you need to get curious, lean into how to respect your body's needs while reprogramming your mind to let go of the old diet culture rules and judgments.
All of this is easier said than done, I totally get it. In this episode I'll give you some really practical examples of things you can do to support your health, and how to navigate this in conjunction with using intuitive eating to make peace with food and your body.
Episode Highlights
-The illusion of control that dieting is giving you…and why it backfires for your health.
-What to do if your health is getting worse with intuitive eating.
-Examples of specific health conditions and how to approach it as an intuitive eater, while getting healthier.
-A 3-step journaling exercise that will help you pinpoint what exactly YOU need to do for your health starting TODAY that doesn't require you to go back to dieting or restricting.
