Introduction to Courage Guidelines
Episode 109
Show notes
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav introduces courage, the second category of the Authentic Power Guidelines created by his spiritual partner, Linda Francis. Having covered the Commitment Guidelines, Gary explains why courage comes next. Authentic power is love, and before you can love, you have to know intimately the parts of your personality that can’t. Gary draws on his years as an Army paratrooper to compare two kinds of courage. The old kind chases admiration and external power. The new kind turns inward.
Frightened parts of the personality, such as jealousy, anger, resentment, competitiveness, superiority, and inferiority, see you and the world in very limited ways. They hurt physically. They keep you up at night. When you act on them without awareness, they create painful consequences every time. Most people who decide to create authentic power meet fear first, because fear is what they have been living in without knowing it.
Gary’s guidance is to use your courage to look at yourself with your eyes open. Become fully aware of each frightened part so you can move beyond its control, and cultivate the loving parts of your personality that are grateful, caring, and in awe of the Universe.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode:
(02:41) – As a personality aligns with its soul, its energy flows into the Earth school like breath through a flute. Commitment is the dive into the pool.
(05:06) – Courage as the second category of Authentic Power Guidelines, and why you can’t love until you know your personality’s frightened parts.
(08:17) – Old courage versus new. Gary’s paratrooper pride in the Vietnam War sought admiration and external power. New courage explores yourself completely.
(11:01) – Courage stretches you past the limited view of your personality’s frightened parts, and acting on anger or jealousy never brings joy.
(15:47) – Challenge a frightened part by becoming fully aware of it and moving beyond its control, without fighting or giving in. Loving parts need no courage.
(18:15) – Fear comes first when you create authentic power. Chasing external power now brings only violence and destruction.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
This week, write in your soul notebook each time you did something you were frightened to do. Pause and ask: Why did I do that? Was I trying to feel better, impress someone, or win admiration? Or was I loving without an agenda? Answer with integrity. At week’s end, read what you wrote. Notice when you used your courage to pursue external power and when you used it to love.

What Is Intuition, Really? Why Science Can't Explain It Bonus
Show notes
Most people sense that intuition works, but they can't say what it is. In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav explains why. Nothing in five-sensory experience can begin to account for intuition. To a five-sensory person, it is a hunch at most. Scientists can't explain it, and psychology, the study of what we feel, think, and perceive, doesn't consider it at all. Gary describes intuition as the voice of the nonphysical world. It matters more and more as humans become multisensory and start to see themselves as souls as well as personalities.
Multisensory humans know their lives have meaning and that they have gifts to give. They want to know what those gifts are, because giving them brings their full potential and their joy. Intuition helps with this, and it shows up in many forms. Some people hear voices. Others notice a thought that feels meaningful, or a moment in a movie that answers a question they asked. Some overhear a conversation that holds the answer they were looking for. Others get goosebumps, or feel a clear yes or no.
There is no right or wrong way to experience intuition. Each person has their own intuitional structure that serves them in Earth school, and it can give answers that go far beyond what the intellect can provide.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) – Why intuition puzzles most people: they sense it works, yet nothing in five-sensory experience can explain it, and to a five-sensory person it is little more than a hunch.
(01:12) – Why psychology leaves intuition out, and what changes when you begin to see yourself as a soul as well as a personality.
(02:11) – Intuition as the voice of the nonphysical world, and why multisensory humans treasure it as access to compassion and wisdom beyond what people can give one another.
(03:20) – The many forms intuition takes, from overheard conversations and goosebumps to a yes or no feeling, and the personal intuitional structure that serves you in Earth school.
(04:02) – How intuition can bring answers more important and fulfilling than anything the intellect can offer.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
Think of a time you knew something without being able to explain how. Maybe a line in a film felt meant just for you, a stranger's conversation answered a question you had been carrying, or you felt a clear yes or no about a decision. Pause and notice how that intuition reached you. Ask yourself: how does my intuition usually speak to me? When have I set it aside in favor of my intellect, and what happened? What question could I ask the nonphysical world today, and how will I stay open to the answer?

Pay Attention to My Intention | Commitment Guideline #4
Episode 108
Show notes
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav explores the final Commitment Guideline: pay attention to my intention. He explains that an intention is a quality of consciousness, and the intention behind your words and actions creates the consequences in your life. Through a walk in Golden Gate Park, a multisensory Golden Rule, and the teachings of Christ and the Buddha, Gary shows every choice comes down to love or fear.
Frightened parts of the personality intend to blame, judge, be right, seek admiration, convince others, or hide in intellectual analysis. The soul intends cooperation, sharing, harmony, and reverence for life. Energy attracts like energy, so your intention decides whether your world feels loving or frightening.
Gary’s guidance is to notice your intention and, when it is fear, act from a loving part of your personality. You cannot change what you feel, but you can always change what you do next. That is how authentic power is created.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode:
(02:59) – The intentions of frightened parts of your personality, such as blaming, judging, trying to be right, and convincing others, and the intentions of your soul: cooperating, sharing, creating harmony, and revering life.
(05:44) – Why an intention is a quality of consciousness instead of a goal, and how the intention behind what you say and do creates your consequences.
(08:26) – A child knocked off a bicycle as an example of how the way you hold a circumstance, with fear or with love, determines how you experience it.
(11:30) – The simple law of attraction that always works, energy attracts like energy, and a walk through Golden Gate Park that revealed how quickly one thought changes what you see.
(17:15) – The Golden Rule reformulated for a multisensory humanity: intend for others what you want others to intend for you, and why “love your neighbor” becomes love everybody and everything.
(23:11) – Authentic power as an ongoing meditation, and how holding the thought that all is perfect lets you enjoy your life while you learn love.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
This week, notice the intention behind what you say and do. Before you speak or act, pause and ask: Is this intention love or fear? Am I trying to be right, win admiration, or convince someone? What would a loving part of me choose? When you feel fear, choose to act from love. Each night, write in your soul notebook which intentions you acted from that day and what consequences followed.

Multisensory Perception Is a Gift. What You Do With It Is Up to You Bonus
Show notes
Your emotions are messages from your soul. Learn How to Tune In and Listen Here:http://www.seatofthesoul.com/emotionalawarenesscourse
A new consciousness is transforming the human species. The old world is disintegrating while a new one is being born, and both now call to every individual. In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav explains that multisensory perception is a gift already unfolding in humanity. No one has to develop it. Cognition expanded over the course of human history, and multisensory perception is emerging the same way, on its own. Over time, humanity will find ways to strengthen, deepen, and enhance their awareness of it.
The potential that multisensory perception brings is a different matter. Gary describes two parts of this potential: Authentic Power and the Universal Human. Neither appears automatically. Both require work, and the Universe does not judge anyone for creating them or for leaving them uncreated.
Multisensory perception arrives as a gift, but its potential becomes real only through choice and effort. Spiritual tools exist to help each individual develop Authentic Power and become a universal human.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) – The choice between two worlds: one of gratitude, patience, and contentment, the other of anger, worry, overwhelm, and despair.
(00:29) – Why multisensory perception is a gift that is already unfolding and needs no effort to appear, much as cognition emerged earlier in human history.
(01:13) – The difference between multisensory perception and the potential it brings, and why that potential requires intention, commitment, and spiritual tools.
(01:43) – Authentic Power and the universal human, the two new potentials of multisensory perception, and why the Universe does not judge whether you create them.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
Think of a moment when you sensed something beyond your five senses. Maybe a hunch proved right, or you felt something about a person before they said a word, or a choice seemed to matter more than it appeared. Pause and notice how that felt. Ask yourself: what am I doing with this awareness? Where in my life am I waiting for change to happen on its own when it is asking for my effort? What would one step toward Authentic Power look like for me today?

Why Life on Earth Is a School for Your Soul | The Illusion Series
Episode 107
Show notes
Are you ready to live Beyond the Five Sense? Learn how HERE:http://www.seatofthesoul.com/beyondthefivesensescourse
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav closes The Illusion Series by integrating the illusions of loss, other, objective, evil, and fear. He explains that as we become multisensory, we experience ourselves as immortal souls who voluntarily incarnate into the Earth School, a domain of time, space, matter, and duality. Drawing on quantum physics and the stories of Jesus and Siddhartha, Gary shows why the deepest duality, love and trust versus fear and doubt, is an illusion within an illusion.
Inside the Earth School, fear feels real, and anger, jealousy, and resentment seem to come from the world. Gary explains that the world only activates the frightened and loving parts of our personality, and every choice between them creates consequences. The Earth School is a learning environment, so each consequence offers an opportunity to learn.
Gary's guidance is to see each temptation as a frightened part of your personality showing you what it will do unless you intervene, and to choose love. Each time you do, you move beyond the control of that frightened part of your personality and bring the love that you are into the Earth School.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode:
(03:09) – Why the idea of an "objective" world falls apart, from Newton's admission that he did not know what gravity is to the quantum discovery that the world depends on how we choose to experience it.
(09:02) – How love can be all that is real when we still choose between love and fear, and why in the new consciousness, you see it once you believe it.
(12:49) – The Earth School as a learning environment where immortal souls incarnate, and why the painful parts of your life point directly to the parts of your personality that keep you from loving.
(15:51) – The two ways to learn wisdom, through fear and doubt or through love and trust, and how every intention infuses its quality of consciousness into your words and deeds.
(22:09) – Temptation as the gracious mechanism of transformation in the stories of Jesus and Siddhartha, and what it means for you to be fully divine and fully human at the same time.
(25:34) – The purpose of the Earth School: to learn love, share love, teach love, and become the love you are.

This week, notice when a frightened part of your personality tempts you toward anger, jealousy, resentment, righteousness, or control. Pause and ask: What is this temptation showing me? Why Everything in the Universe Is Made of Light Bonus
Show notes
Are you creating with love or fear in your life? Take this self-assessment today to find out:https://seatofthesoul.com/cultivating-love-optin/
Every day brings a choice between two ways of living: one rooted in gratitude, patience, and contentment, the other in anger, worry, overwhelm, and despair. In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav describes the light of the Universe, which is everywhere, always has been, and always will be. He reveals that this light is the light of the soul, and that every individual is a being of that same light.
This truth reaches far beyond what the multi-sensory personality expects. Planets, galaxies, mountains, oceans, crops, and even sidewalks are forms of light. Gary aligns Light with Consciousness, meaning reverent awareness rather than the operation of the intellectual mind, and with Love, the divine energy that moves the stars and shines when you care for another individual more deeply than for yourself.
Light, Consciousness, and Love are one and the same, and each individual is a being of this light. We are systems of light living within systems of light.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) – The two choices now calling to every individual: one of gratitude, patience, and contentment, the other of anger, worry, overwhelm, and despair.
(00:43) – Why the light of the Universe is the light of the soul, and why planets, galaxies, mountains, oceans, and sidewalks are all forms of this divine light.
(01:15) – How Consciousness, understood as reverent awareness, and Love, the energy that moves the stars and governs the tides, are one with Light.
(02:12) – What it means to live as a system of light living within a system of light within systems of light.

Why Your Anger and Jealousy Are Really Fear | The Illusion Series
Episode 106
Show notes
Are you ready to live Beyond the Five Sense? Learn how HERE:http://www.seatofthesoul.com/beyondthefivesensescourse
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav explores the emotion that underlies so much of human experience: fear. He describes how humanity is moving from five-sensory perception, which relies only on the physical senses, into multisensory perception, where we recognize ourselves as immortal souls. From this perspective, anger, jealousy, superiority, the need to please, and overwhelm all reveal themselves as forms of fear. Gary draws on his own journey, including years of acting from superiority and his deep grief when the soul of his spiritual partner, Linda Francis, returned to non-physical reality, to show how fear works and what it has to teach.
The challenge is that fear causes emotional pain, and five sensory consciousness responds to that pain by trying to manipulate the world. We reach for a new business, a new partner, or more control, believing that something outside us caused the pain. Gary names what lies at the root of every fear: the pain of powerlessness, of feeling unlovable and flawed. As long as we look externally, the frightened parts of our personality stay in charge.
Gary's guidance is to turn toward the fear and feel it fully. Fear is love in disguise, identifying the exact parts of your personality that keep you from loving. Experiencing them consciously is how you create authentic power and move beyond their control.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode:
(03:50) – How external power, defined as manipulation and control, grew from the impulse to control what frightened us.
(05:43) – Jealousy, superiority, the need to please, and overwhelm as forms of fear, and why only love is real.
(09:20) – Why fear, attachment, and emotional pain are expressions of the same underlying experience, rooted in the pain of powerlessness.
(14:56) – What grieving Linda Francis taught Gary about the difference between unconditional love and the fear of loss.
(17:34) – A practical way to transform fear by experiencing the physical sensations in the throat, chest, and solar plexus instead of intellectualizing them.
(20:47) – Why loss reveals what has not yet evolved within you, and how to choose authentic power over a frightened part of your personality without judging it.

The Exercise That Stops Old Patterns From Repeating Bonus
Show notes
Every day brings a choice between two ways of living: one rooted in gratitude and contentment, the other in anger and despair. In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav explains what comes after emotional awareness, once a painful or pleasing sensation has been noticed near an energy processing center like the throat, chest, or solar plexus.
That sensation signals a frightened part of the personality has become active, wanting to shout, withdraw, agree, or please. Acting on it repeats old patterns of jealousy, anger, or resentment.
The way forward is to frustrate that impulse instead of obeying it. Choosing not to act creates a responsible choice, and that choice is what builds Authentic Power.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — The two worlds now calling to every person, one of gratitude, patience, and contentment, the other of anger, worry, overwhelm, and despair.
(00:43) — What it means to challenge an emotion after scanning it: recognizing a frightened part of the personality and frustrating its need to shout, withdraw, agree, or please.
(01:42) — Responsible choice defined as a choice whose consequences a person is willing to assume, and why noticing a frightened part in action opens the door to choosing differently.
(02:11) — How refusing to repeat old patterns of jealousy, anger, or resentment, and choosing harmony or cooperation instead, is what creates Authentic Power.

Think of a moment this week when a frightened part of your personality became active, maybe a flash of anger, the urge to withdraw, or the need to please someone at your own expense. The Illusion of Evil | The Illusion Series
Episode 105
Show notes
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav takes on one of humanity's oldest fears: the idea that evil is a force loose in the world, something separate from us that can attack, tempt, or possess us. He traces this belief back through Christianity and Buddhism, both built on the story of a young man (Jesus, Siddhartha) who faced temptation on his path to a higher state of being. In the old consciousness, that temptation gets treated as an outside enemy, an independently existing evil that only an institution like the church can help you defeat. Gary argues this framing has always been a trap, one that keeps people dependent and afraid instead of powerful.
The deeper problem, as Gary lays it out, is that treating evil as a real, external thing gives us no way to actually deal with it. You cannot punish an illusion into submission. You cannot lock up something that was never really there. As long as evil is imagined as some independent force, every attempt to fight it, through shame, punishment, or even righteous outrage, just adds more darkness to the pile.
His answer is simple: evil is not a thing at all. It is the absence of light, and the only cure for an absence is a presence. Once you understand that, the whole equation changes.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — Christianity and Buddhism both center on temptation, and why the old consciousness says only the church can save you.
(03:02) — Evil reframed as an absence of light, not an independent entity, with frightened parts of your personality as its true source.
(06:13) — Why "choosing evil" is a myth: the only real choice is love or fear, and evil is just imagined darkness where none exists.
(09:08) — Gary's Sioux uncle's story of a tribal council choosing restoration over execution, and what it reveals about consequences over punishment.
(12:02) — The soul's intentions (harmony, cooperation, reverence for life), and how aligning personality with soul replaces old ethics.
(15:04) — Why fighting darkness with rage pulls you into it, while illuminating it with love actually ends it.

This week, notice every time you label something, a person, an event, a part of yourself, as evil or bad. Pause before reacting and ask: is this really an external force, or is it an absence of light I have the power to fill? What frightened part of my personality might be showing itself here? Keep a soul notebook, and at the end of the week, look back at what you wrote to see where you slipped into judgment versus where you chose to bring light instead.

Why Feeling Invisible Is a Lie Your Personality Tells You Bonus
Show notes
In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav goes after the frightened parts of the personality that convince people they are invisible and without impact. His answer is that this feeling is never actually true, it's only ever a perception, and he traces it back to a Buddhist saying that puzzled him for decades: the river of suffering is deep and wide, a turn of the head is the other side.
That turn of the head is the shift Gary describes: moving out of one enclosed world and into an entirely different one, from fear into love. Two worlds are now calling to each person at once, one built on gratitude, patience, and contentment, the other on anger, worry, and despair, and the choice between them is never made for you.
The invitation is to recognize that this choice is never only personal. It shapes the maturation of your own personality and the evolution of your soul, while also feeding directly into the collective consciousness and the evolution of humanity itself.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — The two worlds now calling to every person, one of gratitude, patience, and contentment, the other of anger, worry, and despair.
(00:59) — Why frightened parts of the personality feel invisible and without impact, and why that feeling is only ever a perception, never the truth.
(01:43) — The Buddhist saying that puzzled Gary for decades, and what it reveals about how close a world of fear and a world of love actually are.
(02:25) — How choosing love shapes your own soul's evolution and ripples into the collective consciousness and the evolution of humanity.

Think of a moment this week when you felt unseen, worried, or overwhelmed. Pause and ask yourself: is this feeling actually true, or only a frightened part of my personality convinced it's invisible? You Are Creating Reality, Not Finding It | The Illusion Series
Episode 104
Show notes
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav dismantles a word most people never think to question: "objective." Objective, he explains, is the assumption that a world exists independently of you, unaffected by what you think, feel, or do. It is the foundation empirical science has stood on since Newton, the belief that reality can be observed, measured, and controlled from the outside. Gary argues that this assumption, however useful it once was, no longer holds.
The old consciousness built everything on that separation between an experiencer and an experienced world, and used it to develop external power, the ability to manipulate and control circumstances for personal gain. But quantum physics itself revealed a century ago that a physical theory cannot prove anything about reality, only correlate what is observed. As more of the human species awakens to multisensory perception, that gap between self and world dissolves entirely.
There is no objective reality waiting to be discovered. There is only the reality each person creates through the currents of love or fear moving within them, and the conscious intentions they choose to strengthen.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — What "objective" actually assumes, a world existing independently of you, and why the old consciousness built its entire understanding of empirical reality on that assumption.
(03:59) — The unbridgeable gap between old and new consciousness, and why there is no use trying to persuade someone experiencing the old consciousness that a multisensory reality exists.
(07:22) — Physical theory as correlation, not proof, and why science's predictive power says nothing about an objective world beyond it, only about consistent, repeatable experience.
(10:56) — Fire, tools, and technology as triumphs of the old consciousness's pursuit of external power, and why that same drive now produces only violence and destruction.
(14:22) — Emotional awareness as seeing your own currents the way an angel might, and how learning to distinguish love from fear is the beginning of authentic power.
(18:18) — Intention as what actually shapes an undetermined life, and why the new consciousness makes you not a path finder, but a path creator.

Why You Can't Enjoy Your Life Without Trusting the Universe Bonus
Show notes
In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav asks where trust fits into everything he has been teaching about authentic power, multisensory perception, emotional awareness, and non physical guides and teachers. His answer is that trust does not sit beside these tools. It permeates the entire picture and gives it meaning, bringing the new human experience home to your heart and your life in the Earth School.
Without trust in the Universe, a person lives in fear, never sure what will happen next, unable to fully laugh, give, or enjoy life. Trust arrives, Gary explains, when you see that everything you do in the Earth School serves the evolution of your soul perfectly, whether you are jealous or forgiving. You cannot quit the quest for authentic power. The only choice is how you will learn wisdom: through fear and doubt, or through love and gratitude.
The invitation is to relax into the knowing that all roads lead home, to experience the frightened parts of your personality consciously so you can choose harmony and cooperation, and to release your wisdom to a higher wisdom through prayer.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:29) — A recap of the journey so far: authentic power as the alignment of personality with soul, emotional awareness, and the gift of multisensory perception versus the work only you can do.
(02:50) — Trust permeates the whole picture rather than occupying one corner of it, and it is what allows you to laugh, give, and stop living in fear of what comes next.
(03:55) — Everything you do in the Earth School, from jealousy to forgiveness, serves the evolution of your soul perfectly; now is the time to inject consciousness into that dynamic.
(05:26) — You cannot quit the quest for authentic power, but you can choose to learn wisdom through anger and jealousy or through joy, appreciation, and gratitude.
(07:33) — The Universe does not work the way humanity does; it provides what you need to fulfill your sacred contract, not what your personality wants.
(09:57) — All roads lead home: relax into the counsel of your guides and teachers, and release your wisdom to divine intelligence through prayer.

Why Changing the World Never Works (Change This Instead) | The Illusion Series

Are you ready to live Beyond the Five Sense? Learn how HERE: http://www.seatofthesoul.com/beyondthefivesensescourse
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav takes on a word so ordinary we never question it: "other." The other team, the other country, the other person. Other means everything that is not you. From the old human consciousness, an uncrossable barrier stands between inside and outside, and changing the world by changing yourself sounds like a fantasy. Gary challenges that assumption directly.
The world is a reflection of what we are, and fixing it with manipulation and control only adds more of what it is made of. Drawing on his own years of addiction, Gary describes the moment every addict reaches: the world has been reshaped to serve the craving, and the pain remains. War and cruelty feel like they happen out there, but they are experiences within you, and seeing this is where responsibility begins.
The only source of your pain and your love is you, and only you can change it. Generosity feels good because it arises from a loving part of your personality, and cruelty hurts because it comes from a frightened part of your personality.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — The difference between a broadcast, a podcast, and a Deepcast, and why this series turns to the deepest questions about life.
(03:01) — Why the old consciousness sees a wall between inside and outside, and how the new consciousness erases it so changing yourself and the world become one act.
(05:30) — The world as a reflection, and why the frightened parts of the personality, from jealousy to addiction, pursue external power.
(07:57) — Gary's own story of sex addiction and the turning point every addict reaches: the world bends to the craving, and the hurt remains.
(10:45) — Temptation as a gracious dynamic of the Universe that surfaces negativity so it can be healed before it becomes karma.
(15:08) — You are your perceptions: why awareness and its object arise together, and how a broadcast life chases attention to fill an unfillable hole.
(19:58) — The personality as an Earth suit a soul wears, and why generosity feels good and cruelty hurts when there is no other.

The Essence Of Creating Authentic Power Bonus
Show notes
In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav distills the core message of the podcast down to a single practice: learning to distinguish, within yourself, the difference between love and fear, and then choosing love no matter what is happening inside of you or around you. He frames this as the whole message, the foundation from which everything else in creating authentic power flows.
Gary explains that this choice cannot be conditional. It is not simply choosing love when you are happy, or surrounded by supportive people, or feeling grateful. Real authentic power comes from choosing love especially when circumstances make that difficult, since without this practice a person remains at the mercy of whatever is happening outside of them.
The solution he offers is to turn inward: rather than trying to change someone or something external in order to relieve pain, such as trying to convince another person to change their mind, authentic power asks you to look at what you are experiencing internally and address what is creating that pain from within.

(00:02) — The new consciousness transforming the human species, and the choice available in every moment between gratitude, patience, and contentment, or anger, worry, and despair.
(00:29) — The essence of creating authentic power is introduced: learning to distinguish love from fear within yourself and choosing love regardless of circumstance.
(01:04) — Choosing love is not conditional; it applies even when you are not happy, supported, or feeling grateful.
(01:32) — Self-mastery and authentic power are contrasted with being at the mercy of external events, illustrated through the example of trying to change someone else's mind to relieve your own pain.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
Think of a recent moment when you tried to change something or someone outside of yourself in order to relieve a pain you were feeling inside. Pause and ask yourself: what was that pain actually about, and what might it look like to address what was happening inside of you instead of trying to change what was happening outside of you?

The Illusion of Loss | The Illusion Series
Episode 102
Show notes
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav explores loss, one of the most painful human experiences. Whether it's the death of a grandmother, a spouse, or a child, loss feels catastrophic and irreversible. Gary challenges this directly, explaining that from the new consciousness, loss as we understand it is an illusion born of five-sensory limitations.
The old consciousness perceives the world in parts, making death appear a complete ending, an "all systems crash" with no recovery. But death is not the end of a soul; it is the completion of an incarnation, a temporary allotment of a soul's energy within the Earth School. What feels like devastating loss is actually attachment and fear, the very things the Earth School exists to teach us to move beyond. This is illustrated through Gary's own experience of losing his beloved Linda Francis, and the connection he still feels with her.
Nothing that exists can ever truly be lost, because the personality is not what we are. We are the soul, the Universe, and the Universe cannot lose a part of itself. Seeing loss through this expanded lens transforms suffering into fulfillment and celebration of life.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — Why the old and new consciousness are colliding right now in the human species, and how this shapes the way we experience power, fear, and loss.
(07:35) — The connection between fear, pain, and loss, and why any attachment is fear in disguise.
(09:57) — The world as a mirror: how what we dislike in others reflects unacknowledged parts of ourselves, and how writing these projections down can birth compassion.
(13:44) — Emotions as currents of energy flowing through us like a river, and how treating emotional pain as physical, chakra-based sensation opens the door to meditation and awareness.
(21:16) — A personal reflection on the passing of Linda Francis, why celebration takes the place of mourning, and what it means to stay in communication with a soul after the body is gone.
(25:22) — Why "you are the Universe" is not a narcissistic claim but an emerging perception of the new consciousness, and how recognizing this reshapes the entire experience of loss.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
This week, notice a moment when you feel the sting of loss, whether a person, a relationship, or a version of yourself you feel is gone. Pause and ask: is this loss real, or is it the old consciousness perceiving separation where none exists? What would it feel like to celebrate instead of grieve? Keep a soul notebook, and look back at week's end to see where you found a broader perspective, rooted not in loss, but in wholeness.

Feeling Fear, Choosing Love Bonus
Show notes
In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav explores what it means to forgive yourself for stepping out of your power, and why the frightened part of your personality shows no mercy until you choose to challenge it. He introduces this through the lens of the new consciousness now transforming the human species, and the choice available in every moment between gratitude, patience, and contentment, or anger, worry, and despair.
Gary illustrates this choice with a story from his years living in Mount Shasta, where driving through a sudden blizzard on the way to the airport made it feel as though the entire world had disappeared into snow, until he drove just a few miles further and emerged into clear sunlight. He connects this to what happens when a frightened part of the personality takes over: it can feel as though the whole world is buried, even when that isn't true.
The solution he offers is simple: in that moment, remind yourself of what you're grateful for, what you can learn, and the other parts of your personality that are available to you, calling back to a Buddhist teaching that the far shore of suffering is reached with nothing more than a turn of the head
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — The new consciousness transforming the human species, and the choice available in every moment between gratitude, patience, and contentment, or anger, worry, and despair.
(00:43) — Self-forgiveness is explored as a choice, since the frightened part of the personality will not forgive on its own.
(01:28) — A story from Mount Shasta shows how driving through a sudden blizzard can make the whole world feel buried in snow, until a few more miles bring clear skies.
(02:36) — Being in a frightened part of the personality is compared directly to being caught in that blizzard, with gratitude offered as a way through it.

Gary Zukav In The Wild
Episode 101
Show notes
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav explores a question that sounds simple but runs deep: what does it really mean to be wild? He makes clear that wildness has nothing to do with recklessness or lawlessness. It means living beyond the control of fear. Wild and control, he explains, are mutually exclusive, just like love and fear.
Gary shares how, for most of his life, frightened parts of his personality quietly ran the show, including the need to impress, to gain, and to appear a certain way, from his years as a paratrooper and Green Beret officer to the self-imposed decorum he later adopted as a spiritual teacher. Drawing on the discovery of the unconscious by early psychotherapy, he explains that whatever we don't know about ourselves doesn't disappear; it controls us anyway, often surfacing as projection onto the people around us.
The way through, Gary explains, is to identify these frightened parts, create distance from them through conscious awareness, and choose from that space of choice, because beyond the control of fear is love, and love is authentic power.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — What "wild" actually means: not lawlessness or chaos, but freedom from the control of fear, and why wild and control are mutually exclusive, just like love and fear.
(03:07) — How frightened parts of personality — the need to please, to gain, to control — quietly run the show, and why what stays unconscious in us ends up controlling us instead.
(06:59) — Projection as a mirror: how strong reactions to what we dislike in others reveal the very parts of ourselves we haven't yet acknowledged.
(10:16) — The pain of powerlessness, and the shift from five-sensory humans reaching outward to control the world, to multisensory humans learning to look inward instead.
(13:55) — Naming the frightened parts — fear, anger, judgment, entitlement — and creating the "arm's length" distance needed to choose consciously rather than react.
(17:44) — Why fear is control, and why love — not sentimental, but authentic power — is what remains once that control dissolves.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
This week, notice a moment when you feel yourself trying to control something outside of you: a person, an outcome, or how you're perceived. Pause and ask yourself: what frightened part of my personality is driving this need for control? Is this coming from fear, or from love? Keep a soul notebook of what you notice, and at the end of the week, look back to see where you found the courage to walk on the wild side, beyond fear's control and into love.

Authentic Power vs. External Power: Gary Zukav Explains the Difference Bonus
Show notes
Are you creating with love or fear in your life? Take this self-assessment today to find out:https://seatofthesoul.com/cultivating-love-optin/
In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav examines the meaning of Authentic Power and distinguishes it from external power. He introduces the transformation in human consciousness now underway, and describes the choice available in every moment between two ways of living: one grounded in gratitude, patience, and contentment, and one dominated by anger, worry, and despair.
Gary explores how external power - the ability to control or manipulate the physical world - has shaped human history through tools, weapons, agriculture, and technology, and was long equated with strength and safety. He explains that this same kind of power, the power to dominate and force compliance, now produces only violence and destruction, and reveals how the very understanding of power that once enabled humanity’s survival now interferes with its evolution.
The alternative Gary offers is Authentic Power: the alignment of personality with soul, a sustainable source of safety and value that does not depend on domination or control.
(00:02) — The new consciousness transforming the human species, presenting a choice in every moment between a life of gratitude, patience, and contentment, and one of anger, worry, and despair.
(01:12) — Authentic Power is defined as the alignment of personality with soul, distinct from external power such as a weapon or military force.
(01:50) — External power - the ability to control and manipulate - is shown to produce only violence and destruction, and its role in developing tools, weapons, agriculture, and technology throughout human history is traced.
(02:49) — The very power that enabled the human species to survive is revealed as now interfering with its evolution.

Why Grief Hurts: Gary Zukav on Losing Linda Francis and What Love Really Is
Episode 100
Show notes
Your emotions are messages from your soul. Learn How to Tune In and Listen Here:http://www.seatofthesoul.com/emotionalawarenesscourse
In this Deepcast episode, Gary Zukav asks a simple but far‑reaching question: Where does the heart flow? He distinguishes love from need, explaining that romantic attachment is often rooted in unconsciousness rather than genuine connection. To illustrate the difference, he shares the deeply personal story of his twenty‑seven‑year partnership with Linda Francis, and what he discovered about love when her soul returned home.
When Linda died, Gary found himself in a pain so intense that he questioned how he would survive the first night without her. It was in that pain that he uncovered a distinction he hadn’t fully understood before: the ache he felt wasn’t coming from his love for Linda, but from the frightened parts of his personality clinging to the safety and comfort of her physical presence. A message from his angelic guide, Genesis, revealed that love itself carries no pain - only fear does.
The path forward, Gary explains, is recognizing that the heart always flows toward love because the Universe is love, and nothing, including each of us, is separate from it.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(03:35) — The difference between romantic attachment rooted in need and the soul‑level connection Gary shared with his life partner, Linda Francis, over twenty‑seven years together.
(06:39) — The first night after Linda’s soul returned home, and the decision to fully experience the pain rather than escape it.
(10:03) — A message from the angel Genesis revealing that the pain of loss comes from frightened parts of the personality clinging to physical presence, not from love itself.
(13:41) — What the Universe actually is - an intelligent, loving presence beyond the vastness of space and matter, and why that understanding changes everything about how we see ourselves.
(17:40) — The shift from five‑sensory to multisensory perception and toward universal humanity, and what that evolution means for where the heart flows.
(24:50) — Why “other” is an illusion of the Earth School, and how recognizing our unbroken connection reshapes the experience of love and loss.

Your Personality Is an Earth Suit: Gary Zukav on the Practice of Reverence Bonus
Show notes
Join the Seat of the Soul monthly newsletter and receive weekly, wisdom filled, insights from Gary:https://seatofthesoul.com/soul-connections-newsletter/
In this Soul Snack, Gary Zukav explores reverence as the experience of perceiving beyond appearance and into essence, a direct, essence-to-essence contact with a person, an animal, a plant, or any living thing. He explains that an unprecedented new consciousness is transforming the human species, and that every moment offers a choice between two inner worlds: one rooted in gratitude, patience, and contentment, and one rooted in anger, worry, and despair.
Gary illustrates the difference between essence and appearance through the image of a beloved friend showing up to a dinner party in an outfit you don't care for. He explains that what someone wears has nothing to do with who they are, their joys, challenges, and aspirations, and that as a person becomes multisensory, they begin to experience themselves as a soul wearing a personality, rather than being their personality.
The invitation is simple: recognize the personality, with all its attributes, as an "earth suit" that the soul adopts and uses for a period of time to grow, and let reverence be the practice of looking past that suit to the essence underneath.
What You’ll Discover in This Episode
(00:02) — Reverence is defined as perceiving beyond the shell of appearance and into the essence of a thing, a person, a bird, a plant, or an animal - an essence‑to‑essence experience.
(01:12) — The metaphor of a friend arriving at a dinner party in an outfit you dislike illustrates that appearance - what someone wears, or their personality itself - is an aspect of the Earth School, separate from who they truly are.
(01:12) — Becoming multisensory is described as the shift from experiencing yourself only as a personality to experiencing yourself as a soul, with your personality as an appearance that clothes your essence rather than defines it.
(02:39) — Personality and all of its attributes are described as “earth suits” - garments the soul adapts and adopts for a time, used by the soul to grow in the areas it has chosen to grow.
Embrace the Soul Step Challenge
Think of someone in your life whose appearance, style, or personality traits you find yourself reacting to or judging. Pause and ask yourself: am I in contact with this person's essence, or only with their "earth suit"? What would it look like to greet this person - and yourself with reverence today?
